I love a good Taiwanese cafe. They always remind me of my childhood when my parents would take me after Chinese school on Saturdays. Thankfully no more Chinese school, but I still love getting together with my family for a weekend meal. I was so impressed by All In Cafe. It's a small, unassuming spot tucked into a Stater Bros. plaza, but the flavors instantly brought me back. We always start with the fried combo. It comes with popcorn chicken, fish cakes, oyster mushrooms, squid balls, and sweet potato fries. Everything is seasoned with the perfect amount of five spice, and it's great for sharing. I usually come with my family, and we always order way too much because who doesn't love leftovers? Some of our other favorites are the stewed stinky tofu with intestines, rice cakes, the chicken plate, and the cold cut salads. Honestly, you can't really go wrong with anything here. The space is pretty small, but the staff is attentive and the food comes out fast. It's one of those places that feels comforting and familiar, and I always leave happy. read more

Unbelievably bad service. The staff here is insanely rude, particularly a middle-aged woman named Windy or Wendy. She paid zero attention to us when we needed service, preferring to sit at the counter eating fruit and gossiping instead. We didn't get a single water refill the entire time. On top of that, she was loudly trash-talking other guests after they walked out, with a super nasty attitude. Easily one of the worst experiences I've had. forgot @Jessica W. reviewed that this place changed owners. we liked their food from the past owner 牡丹/Chef. so hubby and I brought my mom and my MIL here for dinner on a Friday evening around 7pm. the place was small to begin with and it's packed with only 1 table of 4 left. the inside was upgraded/remodeled so it looked a lot cleaner than the previous restaurant. new menu design but basically the same dishes are available plus there're some Taiwanese street food. we found out the owner changed but they kept the same chef in the kitchen. when the dried tofu with pork 香乾肉絲 was served and my mom has the most picky tastebuds, without asking she said "this dish is very good". personally I was impressed with the cutting skill for the dish as both the pork and dried tofu are cut very thin so the flavor can easily get into the tofu and pork. and the dried tofu was soft like a noodle. the eggplants was also very tasty with lots of basil flavor. compared to the other 2 dishes, the braised tofu 紅燒豆腐 was ok as the sauce is a little too thick. and the fried chicken was bland. service was good and attentive. we would come back to have (don't need to try as it's the same chef) their famous "kidney with sesame oil 麻油腰花" again. read more

I ordered the beef noodle soup (half tendon and half meat), pork chop rice and the simmered combination (cold dish of beef, beef tendon, pig ears, bean curd and seaweed tossed in spices including peppercorn) I wanted the stinky tofu too but didn't get it in the end. The pork chop was very tender but would have liked them to put more meat gravy over the bowl of rice with the combo. But, all food here is legit and if you've not tried Taiwanese food, you should. The food was decent for the price, but unfortunately, the service and the way we were treated throughout the entire visit were extremely disappointing. We came with another family, and there were two young children in our group. When we arrived, there were tables available, but we were told that we had to wait until another party had completely finished and the table was cleared, even though the other party had already finished eating. Then, instead of simply preparing the available table, the staff started trying to rearrange another table where a customer was sitting alone. They were moving that customer's drink and belongings to make space for us. We felt uncomfortable with that, so we told them it was completely fine and that we would rather wait for the table they originally intended to give us. Even after we said that, the situation was not handled properly, and we ended up feeling uncomfortable and apologetic before we had even sat down. Once we finally sat down and ordered, the staff continued to be noticeably unfriendly and seemed to have a very poor attitude toward us. Our food also took a very long time to come out. The food itself was actually okay and reasonably priced, which was probably the only positive part of the experience. After we finished our meal, we paid our bill and left a tip/service charge. We also placed a separate to-go order and waited for it. While waiting for our to-go food, one of our children accidentally broke a dish. It was clearly an accident, and we immediately apologized. We did not argue about it or refuse to pay for it. What made the situation much worse was that our to-go food seemed to have already been prepared, but nobody brought it out to us. We continued waiting for approximately 30-40 minutes. During this time, the staff were talking among themselves in their own language, and based on their expressions, tone, and the situation, it honestly felt as though they were talking about us in a negative way. Of course, we cannot know exactly what they were saying, so I cannot say that for certain, but the way everything was handled made us feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. After making us wait all that time, someone finally brought out our to-go order and then told us that we needed to pay $10 in cash for the broken dish. Again, we understood that the dish had been broken and we were willing to pay the $10. That was never the issue. The issue was the way we had been treated from the moment we walked in, the extremely long wait for our food, the 30-40 minute wait for our to-go order, and the overall attitude of the staff throughout the entire experience. Since we had already paid our original bill and left a tip, we said that we would simply like to refund the original payment and pay again for everything, including the $10 dish charge. The reason we wanted to do this was because, after the service we received, we no longer felt comfortable leaving a tip. Instead of simply processing the request, the staff repeatedly acted as though they did not understand what we were asking and kept saying that it was the same thing as just paying the $10 (They knew that we didn't want to tip them). We had to explain multiple times that we were asking for a refund of the original transaction and then pay the food bill plus the $10 dish charge. Eventually, they agreed to refund the original payment. However, when processing the new payment, they tried to include a tip again. We specifically told them that we did not want to leave a tip and asked them to remove it. We were then able to pay only for the food and the $10 dish charge. To be completely clear: we were not trying to get out of paying for the broken dish. We immediately apologized, accepted responsibility, and paid the $10. What we objected to was being treated poorly throughout the entire visit and then being made to feel as though we were still expected to provide a tip despite the experience. We came in with two young children and did our best to be considerate. We understood that children can accidentally break something, and we took responsibility when it happened. We also paid for everything we owed. What we expected in return was simply basic courtesy and respectful customer service. Unfortunately, this was one of the most uncomfortable restaurant experiences we have had. The food was okay, but the food alone cannot make up for the poor service, the long waits, the attitude, and the way the situation with the broken dish and payment was handled. It's not positioned as cheap eats, but the portions justify the price. Flavor-wise, this place edges out many other Taiwanese cafés by an inch. It may not be dramatic, but it's noticeable. The cooking feels closer to home-style Taiwanese flavor. Not as spicy as Szechuan. Not as sweet as Shanghai. It sits in between--balanced and comforting. I went on a Monday for lunch, and it was packed, with only one staff member on the floor. Thankfully, they had one corner seat for one person, which is super unique. The restaurant itself looks clean and simple with wooden tables and chairs. My cousin, who lives nearby, recommended the pork chop rice, and I also ordered some vegetables, which ended up being a huge plate. The pork chop was crispy and so flavorful, it reminded me of Taiwan. It came with some bachoy, half an egg, and tofu. The veggies had a pork-braised sauce on top, which went great with rice. I couldn't finish everything, so I took the rest to go. I had to wait for a while since the staff was super busy with other tables, but I didn't mind. Yummy Taiwanese food! Another review by David L. mentioned this place was similar to Sinbala and I can attest that it truly is similar. I ordered the pork chop rice and the pork chop had a great crispy exterior and was very juicy as well. The dish came with sauteed cabbage, half a tea egg, sauteed corn/peas/carrot mix and a bean curd. Portion was large and I was able to eat half for another meal! Really good authentic Taiwan flavors! I had bookmarked this place when they first opened in temple city, so I was surprised to see them move to Rowland already! The chicken cutlet was so juicy and crispy, it definitely reminded me of Taiwan. My mom ordered the sesame noodle and was so excited to try it, but was a bit disappointed as it was lacking. The portions were good, the braised pork was tender, and the pork chop had a nice crust. Also had the green milk tea and assam milk tea. It is genuinely challenging to find truly authentic Taiwanese cuisine, even here in Southern California, but All In Cafe delivers. Operating in the location that was formerly "Mu Dang" under a new Taiwanese owner, the café has successfully reinvented the menu to offer an even more diverse and traditional Taiwanese experience. The fried items are a true specialty here. We highly recommend ordering the Popcorn Chicken, the Taiwanese Fish Cake, and the String Beans. All are perfectly cooked and seasoned. While they do offer convenient fried item combos, please note that they are pre-selected and do not allow for personal mix-and-match choices. The Beef Noodle Soup is a popular item and definitely worth trying. The soup base has a lighter flavour profile, which nicely contrasts with the heavy, rich flavour of the beef, likely due to how the meat is marinated. This balance might surely appeal to many. However, for us, the beef is kind of on the salty side. The dish that stands out most is the Sautéed Pork Kidney in Sesame Oil with Somen Noodles. This is an absolute must-order. I would recommend asking for the noodles to be served on the side. The thin noodles can get quite soggy if left to soak in the hot sesame oil soup for too long. Came on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. It was pretty packed. My husband and I took the last available table at the time. It seemed as if everyone got here at once because our food took a while. The store itself is pretty small. It only has 8-9 tables. My husband ordered the beef noodle soup, it was good and flavorful. I ordered the dry beef noodle- also yummy and flavorful. I think All In Cafe is one of those spots where everything tastes authentic and is done well. We had a bunch of dishes here on Sunday and every one was at least above average. We definitely have to come try more things out, but so far our impression is good. Beef Noodle / Tomato Beef Noodle - Very authentic taste. This is what you expect Taiwanese beef noodles to taste like and it's done well for what it is. Other places have unique spins on beef noodles with different spices or ingredients, this place just does regular beef noodles well. The meat in particular was very tender. My wife liked this spot quite a bit. Sour Cabbage Pork Intestines - The pork intestines were quite good and the sour cabbage tasted right. I did feel like these could have been separate dishes, I don't think they did much for each other. My wife said the intestines weren't fatty enough to warrant the acid, I'll take her word for it. Still a good dish that we happily ate. I think I'd go with the other intestine dish next time though. Egg Plant in Szechuan Sauce - This is exactly what you expected when you ordered it. The flavor profile is on point, and it's done pretty well. Zero surprises, tasty, and it beats making it yourself. Sauteed Pork Kidneys in Sesame Oil - Good enough that my wife drank the "broth" (according to my wife, I thought it was sauce), though it was clearly not meant as something you drink straight. There was an option to add somen to it, probably a better idea. The kidneys were not gamy at all, soft, very satsifying for what they were. Salmon Fried Rice - Solid fried rice. I think salmon in fried rice tends to be drier in general, but my kids ate all of it. The flavor and wok hei were there. Popcorn Chicken / Calamari - The popcorn chicken was good. The meat was moist, the fry was satisfying, not too oily, and it tasted like it should. Good texture, good flavor, solid dish. The texture of the calamari rings was also good with a very nice fry, though it was a bit salty. Shanghai Spare Ribs - I actually didn't get to eat any of these. The other people at the table got to them first. That said, everyone else said they were good, I'm inclined to believe them. Good, solid taiwanese food. I'm not suprised since I think it's the same team that ran MuDan that was here before. I don't think anything on this menu that you're familiar with already will surprise you. That said, it's likely to be a good solid version of what you were expecting, which is also nice to have. read more

Found this small gem while figuring out where to get Braised Pork over rice Food: Good food. Good taste. Not over seasoned nor as oily as ones we've had from other places. Ordered the Braised Pork over Rice, Braised Pork Belly Rice Playe and Mild Popcorn Chicken. Everything brought us back to various places we've had these dishes for the first time. I really really like their porkchop! The seasoning is so good. The portion is also good for the price. If you like taiwanese style food, this place hits the spot. Small place, as it only has a couple tables, but definitely good for to go. Server was super nice and they have so many deals. Parking is very try easy. They use plastic forks and paper plates, so very cafe/picnic like. I don't mind because the price is very affordable and good. I plan to come back for the pork chop again. Was craving Taiwanese food while in Rowland Heights and saw this place. It was a bit confusing at first because the signage above the restaurant doesn't match its name yet, so be aware! I placed an order via phone ahead of time. The place is very tiny with only a handful of tables, but most of them were already filled with people happily chatting and eating. The interior still seems newly renovated, so they've kept and maintained it well. The ladies at the counter were very nice and greeted me warmly. My order was ready shortly after I checked in with them. They told me there was a 10% discount if paying in cash, which was a pleasant surprise! I ordered the pork chop rice, sausage rice, and fried king oyster mushroom. The mushroom was fried very well; it wasn't super oily or over-fried, and had plenty of seasoning. The mushroom tasted very fresh as well. The pork chop was also excellently fried, being very crispy while keeping the meat not overly dried which happens so often. The sausage was similar to most places' sausage dishes. We were very satisfied with everything! The portions are great, prices very fair, service wonderful. Order their pork chop rice, you will not regret it! The pork chops were the perfect texture and had the best crunch. It came out in black takeout boxes. Guess they don't like to wash their dishes. The inside tables and chairs look like hospital cafeteria design lol. Super friendly service and the owner said they opened in March which makes this spot fairly new. 15% if you pay cash and $10 minimum with cc. The drinks were $1 additional for combos during lunch hours. Easy parking right outside in the plaza. read more
