Order Xin Xin scratched our itch for unfancy Chinese food. Seems like they do good business too, it was bustling. Ambiance wise this isn't the kind of place you eat-in if you can help it. It's a grab and go place which is just fine if you're super hungry because our order was ready 10 minutes after ordering. Husband loved the boneless spare ribs and fried rice. I wasn't all too happy with this place. The rice really had no flavor to me at all. Just plain Jane, I would so much rather stick to house of Hui's for that. I got the sesame chicken and let me just say, if you like shrimp cool get it, but if you're like me who doesn't like shrimp stay far away from the food. Every bite I took into the sesame CHICKEN tasted as if I was eating shrimp. Not sure if there is a lot of cooking going on in the same pots or oil or what, but it tasted fishy and I don't eat sea food nor fish. If you're allergic to those things that might be dangerous too, just in case, maybe you should ask what types of oil they cook with or if they cross contaminate. read more

I tend to call in my orders (anywhere I go to avoid waiting) and the woman that answers, and takes your payment and orders inside happens to just have an attitude all the time. This has recently become one of my regular takeout restaurants. I always find that the Combo plates are a good deal and the food taste pretty decent considering the location. It has taken me a while to find a Chinese restaurant near Maple Grove that servers good food. Let me tell you, it's a huge challenge. I think Chinese people just tend to gravitate South even if it's only 10-15 miles. lol Ok, so I've tried the following: Spicy Chicken - Not very good too many onions and not very spicy Hunan Chicken - It's a little spicy, but I would've like it to be more so. Good balance of meet and vegetable. Szechuan Beef - Good taste. Would've like it to be hotter. Shrimp w/ Lobster Sauce - Taste is pretty standard. (Note this is a slimy dish) The shrimp was good, but probably would be better with white rice vs. fried. I probably wouldn't recommend ordering as a stand alone dish. Parking during lunch is a hassle. The parking lot is usually full and people around there don't know how to drive. But, that's another story for another time.... Overall, give this place a try if you like Chinese food. read more

I always order egg fried rice and their chicken. Super yummy. There are also a few tables for those who want to enjoy their food there, but I suggest just ordering out. Portions are large, super delicious, and hot. Small downside is the sometimes the high level of salt in some dishes, but I am sure they are willing to change that if you ask. This is One of the best take out Chinese restaurants I've found. Their chicken wings are a must get! They are crunchy, salty and have something special in them that I cant put my finger on. Come Friday I am always craving their sweet and sour shrimp. They are always willing to make the pork fried rice extra spicy with no extra charge. I like restaurants who are what they represent themselves to be and who do a good job of it. I ate at Xin Xin for lunch today and was very pleased. it's a takeout place. At lunch there is a steam table with a glass front/customer side, and someone who will take your order for your choice of two from the seven the "Express Food Bar" items. There is also a display of maybe 20 dish photographs that, presumably, you can order or order ahead. The egg roll was decent, fairly typical of a Chinese restaurant. The fried rice was good and provided in large quantity. The spicy chicken was maybe the best I have ever had. Until today I thought that there was a rule in Chinese kitchens that the chicken pieces had to be overcooked to the point of being balsa wood. Not so at Xin Xin! The chicken was properly cooked, moist, and tender. Good for them. Four stars instead of five because of the limited and unadventurous Food Bar menu. I could not see coming here on a regular basis because it would quickly become boring. Better would have two of the seven items as rotating daily specials. Moo Shu Pork anyone? Pot Stickers? Xin Xin is the worst Chinese food ever, not to mention my order was wrong. Placed my order and repeated it, for my own security since I new their was a language barrier. As I picked up my food, the order was repeated to me, the lady said Lo Mein and I said no! It should be Chow Mein? She corrected herself and said it is Chow Mein, $34.25 dollars later. I get home to have dinner with some guests and long behold NO, Chow Mein instead I was giving something with what seemed 70% onions and chicken. I've been coming here for years and the food is the same Every time. This Chinese food is the best I've had in the twin cities. The one lady that used to take orders was rude but I haven't seen her the last few times I've ordered everyone else has ok customer service. They prepare your order fast and it's is cooked just right, never burnt or undercooked. It is worth it to go during lunch cuz you can get a lot of options for cheap they have a lunch special menu and a lunch buffet AND they give you a lot of food.
