Shogun Legends is a fun spot if you're looking for hibachi! We've been many times over the years with rather large groups and have always had good food and service. Terrible service, we got seated at 7pm, Barbora took our drink order and food order then we never saw her the rest of the night. Chef finally came over to cook at 815pm, we had to walk over to the bar to flag another server to bring us drinks. Based on this experience I will not be back nor recommend this establishment to any friends, our group of 9 was disappointed as we were there for a 13th birthday celebration. So we ordered 2 habachi dinners Filet mignon & chicken, steak cooked medium & a California roll appetizer. The food was lackluster, for the experience and expense price I will never return. The habachi experience was so boring not a single show I have ever been to was this bad for hibachi. The steak,Vegetables,Shrimp and chicken were all overcooked to the point that it was not enjoyable to eat. There was a piece of hair in the fried rice. Seriously we took the trip 1hr 20 min to try this place. Not worth the trip. The staff seemed like they didn't want to be bothered and were not engaged. The California roll was not fresh, the fried rice was either left over rice or maybe that's how this joint serves hibachi but the rice was already pre cooked with the eggs and was brown when it was brought to the table. Once again, our mini-yelp group got together for our bi-monthly dinner and Shogun Legends was our choice. We chose a traditional dinner vs Hibachi (maybe next time) and it was excellent. We began by choosing our wines and came up with three different bottles as it is always fune to taste other wines. For appetizers we shared orders of Beef Negimaki (broiled beef rolled with scallions), Shanghai Eggplant (topped with scallops and shrimp and a special sauce) and Pork Fried Rice. All were excellent and the Shanghai Eggplant got the win! Two of us also had the Hot and Sour Soup and it was piping hot and a little spicy. Entrees consisted of Grilled Scallops on a bed of asparagus, Jumbo Crispy Prawns, Legends Duo (Filet Mignon and Scallops), Gold Coin Filet and two orders of Volcano Steak (sliced NY Strip with spiced chili rub). Without exception, all of the entrees could have been hotter - the Gold Coin Filet had to be sent back to the kitchen. Entree presentation was very nice and service was attentive. Disappointing overall. The service was painfully slow -- we waited 10 min to be seated and over 30 to just get water . The food itself was mediocre at best; flavors were flat, and nothing stood out as memorable or worth the price. What made it worse was the complete lack of engagement from the hibatchi chef -- no effort to connect, be playful with the kids , just going through the motions. They tried putting wrong charges on the bill and they put tip on top of the tax. I would not be returning. read more

Heard good things about this place from many people and decided to order for the first time. I got the Legends Duo for $36 - filet mignon and scallops in brown butter sauce with vegetables. I asked for the filet to be cooked medium rare. It came out medium well and chewy. Did not taste good at all. The scallops had absolutely NO flavor. I've never had such disappointing scallops in my life. My hospital cafeteria makes better ones. Staff was nice when I picked up my food. That was the only good part of this experience. You're better off at your local strip mall Chinese spot. At least it's not a rip off. read more

Went there for a birthday. I heard it was fabulous so I guess I had high expectations. The food was good but average compared to other Asian fusion type restaurants I've experienced. I wouldn't choose to go back simply because there are so many other great options. Their lobster dumpling appetizer was so small you could barely see it on the plate. I loved the decor! The Fish Tank is amazing! The wait staff was professional and attentive but not overbearing. We ordered Kumamoto oysters to start! Beautiful presentation with a choice I've 3 dips. Came here for date night a couple Fridays ago with my Hubby. Our reservation was for 7pm, we didn't get seated until 8:30p. It was so loud, don't get me wrong, Hibachi places usually are, but the acoustics here are LOUD!! we couldn't even hear each other talking and we were sitting side by side. Moving on to the food, I ordered the lobster and steak he ordered the seafood medley. I love the fried rice, but always ask for steamed rice as well, I never got it, meaning, the waitress forgot to bring it. The Lobster looked like a large shrimp and my steak, very small, I will say, we both agree the seasoning was great and the vegetables were crispy, refills on beverages was missing. Our Chef was friendly and entertaining so props to him. Not sure if we will go back, we had heard rave reviews about Shogun and we have lived in NJ since 2013 and this was our first visit here for Hibachi, I want to say it was a 4 star night, but it barely made 3 stars, Because it was our Chef that made the night and carried the experience. read more

We celebrated our 25th anniversary there last night and we have been going for a few years now, minus the covid period. Last night, we ordered the lobster dumplings and calamari for appetizers. We had the lava roll and two thumbs up roll. Very yummy. And we were not done yet ! We ordered the crispy fried fish, beef fried rice, and volcano steak. Aside from the lobster dumplings, we enjoyed everything. Lobster dumplings were bland. Will be back as this is a nice upgraded restaurant that is good for dinner with your honey or family. read more

I want to like this for more than I do. The sashimi is not the right temp and not cut well. The grain is not correct so the fish is chewy and when served too cold you can't distinguish one fish from the next. The calamari appetizer was lovely though. Dont come here expecting great Sushi. read more

Sushi review- my family loves legends. We have been going there for years. We ordered take out for Valentine's Day, which is also my sister's birthday. The front staff was so nice, helpful, and quick. Everything was so organized. We recommend all the specialty rolls. Everything was very fresh. My favorite is the flaming heart roll. The sushi donut was also really good and different. We got 5 speciality rolls for 3 people, and it was the perfect amount- we do love sushi though, and my dad did help himself ;) read more

Food is very good but the portions are not meant for sharing... Lobster dumpling app was very small as was the sesame noodle app. These apps aren't inexpensive for what they give you. Sushi is excellent...and im fine with paying for quality sushi Drinks are served in undersized small rocks glasses (tumblers) and garnish a old fashioned with a single cherry (typically 3) Service slow-- but they were crowded Dinner for 2 $175 with tip. Having said that, as part of a group of friends who celebrate our birthdays with our choice of restaurant, I had little choice but to go. We requested a table and were explained it would be about an hour wait by the man in the white shirt, maybe a manager. We accepted. Came for the hibachi. Out of all the hibachi restaurants I've been to, something about the quality of the food here really stood out to me. It was packed with flavor and as always, I received a generous portion. There are a ton of great drink options here as well. Hibachi is so fun and it is perfect for big groups. We came with a group and loved it. The menu is straightforward. I went with the filet mignon and chicken ($43). I found it kind of pricey but I guess you pay for dinner and a show. The food was good but it seems like a small portion when you consider the price. The steak is cooked nicely and I enjoyed the fried rice and lo mein. Nothing fancy about the food and didn't wow me but it was a fun experience. You do get ice cream at the end. I was so surprised by Legends. Their reputation is phenomenal, so much hype. Ive heard that people go once and say it was a great time, and I did have fun. The first issue came with the bill, they overcharged my card for an additional $16 "by accident" also i was puking my brains out for hours after. Don't get the regular steak. When i say i puked i mean fucking firehose of vomit for nearly 30 minutes straight. shell the money out for the fillet, theyre going to charge you for it anyway, he assured me that the charge would come off of my card in a day or so, here i am weeks later, and all they did was charge me the correct amount on top of the charge including their $16 addition. Shady business owners. Prob the reason the guy in wolf of wall street wont ever go to a beni-hana again. If youre reading this and own the restaurant go fuck yourself. read more

I get it, it was busy and we were a large party but they should be prepared for that. 1- no fault to the staff but we had to wait 30 minutes to be seated. The bar area is tiny. Like maybe 4 seats tiny and there was 16 of us blocking the way because there was no where for us to go. 2- the service was terrible. Not the chefs, they were great and so was the food (even though they were very skimpy On the vegetables) but our waiter did not bring people drinks and did not bring out an appetizer that was ordered. In fact he never even put it in. That's unacceptable. And he was unapologetic and did not even try to make up for it. 3- the dishes they pour the sauces in were dirty. I mean filled with food debris. Everything we ordered was underwhelming, soup, sushi...uni wasn't fresh and had an after taste, but I didn't say anything, it was my husband's bday and I didn't want to spoil, but I had to return gyoza dumplings, bc they were pretty much inedible. When I told the waitress I don't like it and asked her to take it back she became very defensive and argued with me to the point I had to ask her if there's a problem...she was very rude.
