Luckily it stayed in the frame. We had been considering replacing the door, along with all the windows, anyway since they were original to the house, built in 1990. After researching window replacement companies in the area we decided to go with Cal Coast Window and Door. Not only were the YELP reviews mostly 5 star, they have an A+ BBB rating with no unresolved complaints. Dan Caraballo was our sales and contract person, and ensured the entire process went smoothly. He thoroughly explained both window installation processes (new construction and replacement); type of glass and the energy efficiency; suggested manufacturers for the design we wanted; explained the warranties (lifetime for workmanship and product); estimated the manufacturing (usually 6-8 weeks) and installation (up to 2 weeks to schedule and 2 days to install) timelines, and answered all our questions. Even though we had the house painted and most of the trim replaced last year, we went with new construction and a Milgard V300 Trinsic door as recommended because it met all our needs, the track was shot on our old one, and the warranty was great on the new one. The week after the contract was signed, Gary with Cal Coast came out to certify the door measurements and have me choose the interior and exterior door trim. Four weeks later our door was installed. Manny and Omar, the installation team, completed the job in one day. They were terrific! They were friendly and professional, their workmanship was beautiful and precise, and they left the work area clean when the job was done. It's been almost 2 months since our new door was installed and we love it. It's amazing the difference that modern energy efficient glass makes over our old dual-paned door, and it's so much easier to open and close. We are definitely going to move forward and replace all the windows, however, since our window frames are in good shape we're going to get replacement windows so we can leave the existing trim and frames intact. Cal Coast is definitely the company we'll use.

The consultant comes at the agreed upon time- very much on time. We get into the construction site - and off the bat he says Renewal by Andersen is not for people using Home Depot or Lowe's windows or doors!! Not sure where he got that from- because we have no windows installed so far!! He went on to ask me my experience with costs of doors so far - I said I have quotes from $9k to $30k. He said the renewal costs were much higher. I said okay - how much would my French door cost? He asked if I was the owner- I said I was managing the project. Mind you this is a fenced site and I had access to the property. The moment I said I was managing the project- he said sorry I cannot give you a quote because I am not the owner!!! In setting up the appointment nobody asked for the owner to be there for the quote. If that was a requirement I would have not wasted my time with these folks!! I wasted an hour of my time with this company that talks about customer focus - but completely lacks it!! Will never recommend this company to owners who use me as project manager for their construction!! Response to Antonio: There is a very big difference in giving a quote and signing the contract. I completely agree that the home owner needs to sign the contract- whereas it is reasonable for the project manager to get the quotes. For this specific project I have so far got around 20 quotes from companies from around the USA. Yours was the first company that refused to give a quote to anyone other than the owner. Having said all this- I did have a very nice conversation with one of your leaders, that went over the process in detail and explained the situation to me. Instead, once the check was cleared, the integrity and customer service dropped to an all-time low. Here is what 8 months of "service" has looked like: Damaged Installation: We noticed cracks and gaps under our doors after installation. The company initially denied responsibility and only acknowledged it after I provided photo evidence proving the damage wasn't there previously. Poor Workmanship: The stucco repair attempts were disastrous. Contractors left stains on our patio, and the repair itself was craggy and sandy--nowhere near a professional finish. Total Lack of Reliability: We have dealt with multiple "no-shows," including a contractor missing an appointment during Memorial Day weekend. There is zero regard for the customer's time. Broken Communication: Management claims they enforce a 30-minute arrival notification policy, but this never happens. They cannot even agree with their own contractors on basic communication standards. Unfinished Work: The project remains incomplete 8 months later. After finally sending someone to correct the stucco, they flatly refused to paint the area, with a manager telling me, "we don't paint; you need to paint". It is entirely unreasonable to pay a premium price for new windows only to be left with an unfinished, sloppy exterior and told that finishing the job is "on you." We have one more set of windows to install, and you can guarantee we're not using Renewal by Andersen.

Never knew about life time warranty until last month, one of the window cracked. We didn't have any receipt or anything, just an email we did 14 years ago. We just contacted the company on their website and amazingly, they have the record by the address. The service department was so helpful, they contacted us and contacted the manufacturer to set up appointment with the case number to get it replaced. The windows were replaced 14 years ago in one day and we had many custom sized windows. The amazing thing is they know exactly which window that cracked by us describing the location of the window. Anlin Delmar (Milgard) called us and setup the appointment. They came and replaced the windows in a few hours. It was amazing and we're extremely happy. Now we know, go with the best and reputable company like Custom Exteriors and a good manufacturer like Anlin Delmar to have after service years after the work is done. Would we recommend Custom Exteriors and Anlin Delmar? The answer is obvious, YES.
