Our 25-year old HVAC system was hanging on out of sheer loyalty... but the time had come to bite…read morethe bullet and purchase a new central air system. For those of you that have not priced these things out before, quite a bit has changed over time...like the cost! Also, technology has moved on as well, so it's virtually impossible to replace "just the condenser" without all the additional furnace components...they simply won't work together. We called several HVAC contractors...one of them being the large energy company we all know in this area. They came in and did their inspection and were very professional. But their price was 50% higher than the local competition. Yes you read that right!! I wasn't concerned about the "big guys" doing it right, since they are our current utility firm and we have appliance contracts through them. But in light of these tough economic times, I really wanted to give it to a small business. I just wasn't sure how well they would stand behind their work and whether they would do it right the first time. I did research and found two other options. The one that really stood out was AAA Comfort Air in Cream Ridge, NJ. They had over 95 five-star reviews, and although anyone can fake a review, I still felt compelled to do my due diligence. I set an appointment for Emil (the owner) to come in and assess the situation. He was professional, took his shoes off before entering (not at our request), and clearly laid out what was needed and NOT what was most expensive. As a matter of fact, he recommended options that were less expensive vs. those that would simply feed his wallet without added benefit to us. His demeanor was polite, knowledgeable, and he took the time (over 1-hour) to really explain everything without pushing for the sale. Additionally, there are some unique challenges in our home that require minimal dust due to some family health issues and he offered to put up plastic to separate the rooms to ensure a clean work environment. Well, much to my surprise, Emil, came back with an estimate that was truly outstanding vs. simply "competitive". Likewise, his firm provides a 3-year parts and labor warranty (not an option...he just provides it) along with the condenser manufacturer's 10-year. The others only offered 1-year.... that in of itself really resonated with me! We decided to move forward, and I have to say, we made the right decision. Emil and his team were outstanding. They arrived on time, ready to go, and their work was outstanding. Everything was done in one day, with a clean install and a fully working system. Look, HVAC replacement won't make your home look nicer, but it surely is important. No one wants to spend that kind of money unless they have to. Emil and his team were not only very competitive, but they delivered on their promises and were very customer focused. If you are seriously considering a project like this, you need to consider AAA Comfort air. They deliver on their promises and care about their customers. They go above and beyond and deliver with an eye towards balancing price with efficiency. We highly recommend them and you should absolutely include them in your decision-making process. They truly are "AAA".

A duct to our bedroom was never connected, there was no cutout made in the trunk, and no flex duct was installed. Another duct, which we had discussed lifting off the attic floor to allow access, was never suspended. These issues should have been caught before the job was closed out. We made every effort to support a smooth install: clearing our garage, moving items for equipment storage, purchasing extra plywood, and even running an air scrubber to improve attic air quality for the crew. After posting a review explaining our experience, we received a revised contract stating they would only finish the work if we removed our review and waived our labor warranty. That didn't sit right with us. We also reported a worker's inappropriate comments that made my wife and I uncomfortable, and our concerns were dismissed. The work in question would take about an hour to complete, but after weeks of follow-up, we've had no resolution. We're hiring another HVAC company to finish the job and plan to pursue recovery through small claims court. We hope others have a better experience, but based on ours, we recommend double-checking everything before signing off.

We have our HVAC systems serviced every 6 months, and various services during the past 9years. Yesterday's technician, Victoria R, was extremely thorough and gave a detailed explanation of the items noted on the Home Health Report. She was respectful of my home (wore booties & cleaned up debris), friendly & courteous. Also, my husband & I were impressed that Arctic Air hired a female technician; more companies should follow your lead!

Unfortunately, my recent standby generator installation was the complete opposite. The sales estimator was professional, provided a reasonable quote, and included additional warranty coverage and extras that helped earn my business. During the sales process, I specifically requested a Generac Guardian series generator rather than the newer models because I preferred the owner functionality and did not want features that require additional monitoring subscriptions. The problems began with the permitting process. Arctic submitted the permits, and the township informed me that the mechanical plans had failed review and additional information was required. When I contacted Arctic, I was told they would handle it. Several weeks later, Arctic called and stated that the permits had been approved and asked me to schedule the installation. I specifically asked for confirmation that everything had been approved and was assured that it had been taken care of. On installation day, communication and coordination were extremely poor. Multiple crews arrived, but important information I had discussed with the estimator was never communicated to them, including the generator location and my request for a white meter backer board to match the house. The plumbing and electrical teams appeared to be operating independently and often did not know what the other team was doing. During the installation, I discovered that the generator had been placed directly over a storm drain. When I asked that it be moved, I was told that it had already been bolted down and was difficult to relocate. I insisted that it be installed correctly, and the crew eventually addressed the issue. Throughout the day, a total of nine company vehicles came and went. For comparison, similar installations are often completed by a much smaller, coordinated crew. The entire process felt disorganized and inefficient. There were additional communication issues regarding the gas piping. I had plans to finish my basement and would have preferred the piping to be routed as tightly as possible along the floor, but that discussion never occurred. After installation, a gas leak was discovered and the plumbing team had to return to make repairs. At the end of the day, Arctic requested payment in full. I declined and explained that I would make final payment after all required township inspections were completed. When I contacted the township to schedule those inspections, I was shocked to learn that the permits had not actually been approved and that the work should not have been performed. I am still waiting to learn whether I will face any additional costs or penalties as a result. The installation itself may ultimately be corrected, but the permitting issues, lack of communication, poor coordination between crews, and apparent misinformation regarding permit approval made this one of the most frustrating contractor experiences I have ever had. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Arctic Air Conditioning.
