Today was the equivalent of a guys spa day. I got a haircut, beard trim and a hot shaving cream straight razor shave. The icing on the cake was no question the hot towel and Bay rum aftershave. It is difficult to explain how something seemingly as minor pampering yourself and letting a skilled professional barber do their job properly can alter your outlook on life. She asked a couple of questions about my hairstyle and she started cutting my hair. End result was fantastic! Tui is not only amazing barber, but also an amazing person. I decided to give this place a second chance after receiving a bad haircut on my first visit…read morebecause everyone was friendly. Unfortunately, my second experience was even worse. I asked for a simple low taper and showed exactly what I wanted. Instead, the barber cut the fade much higher than requested and continued taking off more hair despite my instructions. The haircut looks nothing like the reference I provided. There was little to no blending, and the back of my neck looks like a chunk of hair was simply removed rather than properly faded. I also specifically asked to keep my beard higher on my face, but instead it was trimmed much lower into what looks like a chin strap. It was the opposite of what I requested. Everyone was polite, but friendliness doesn't make up for ignoring a customer's instructions. If you're looking for anything beyond a basic clipper cut with guards, I would recommend going somewhere else. I'm now stuck waiting several weeks for my hair to grow back before another barber can fix it.
