I have been to 3 different y7 NYC locations now and am always amazed by how overrated the experience is. My main complaint is that the studios are so dirty and crowded. The bathroom at Flatiron was worse than a MacDonald's bathroom in Times Square. I also could not believe there were NO LOCKERS at the flatiron location (and no showers). Its also annoying that they charge for both mats and towels. The classes themselves are very standard flows - the teachers are well trained but not memorable in any way. I do like that the room is pitch black so you can really ignore everyone around you. However, note that if you are newish to yoga and yoga terminology you will definitely be totally lost because there is no one to follow. Finally, I hate hate hate the part where you are supposed to "flow on your own"... I am paying you to tell me what to do. I could "flow on my own" in my own clean bathroom. read more

No, just no! Danielle, the instructor, has the worst voice for teaching yoga. She was okay during warm up and cool down. But during the class, she was literally yelling out instructions, perhaps because the music was way too loud. Maybe she should be a mic and give instruction with a softer voice. I couldn't handle it. And I love yoga so all I did was child pose during the class because I literally can't with Danielles style of yelling.. Hip hop and yoga isn't a good mix, for me, it neither brought me zen, inner peace, nor balance. I left feeling more disconnected and annoyed at Danielle's voice... The place itself is pretty. To call this yoga is kind of a joke so let's just get that out of the way. You are doing yoga-like movements in a heated, darkened room while Rihanna et al blasts from the speakers. The "flows" are boring as hell, so it's good they let you do your own thing. But it's dark and also packed, so you constantly have to be on the lookout to dodge a foot or arm swinging in your direction because everyone is doing different stuff. The teacher is really not a teacher at all... more of just a hype man in your *ultimate hip hop yoga fusion club experience*. I'm not a hardcore traditionalist on what a yoga class should or should not be, but Y7 is like... embarrassing, laughable bastardization of yoga. And for anyone who doesn't give a shit about that kind of thing (and that's okay if you don't), if you come here: 1. you're not going to learn anything about how to do any yoga pose and 2. the calorie burn you're searching for isn't here, the workout just feels more intense because of the heat and 3. the "hip hop" is just standard Drake/Kanye/Rihanna so you're not even gonna be able to add some cool obscure shit to your Spotify repertoire later :/ read more

Not sure why a hot yoga place would not have shower facilities...but otherwise the studio isn't bad and I like the main room. The reason why this is 3 stars vs 4 is that classes are packed in tight...and sometimes people don't align properly. The instructors don't handle well either (probably hard because people show up late and it's dark in there so hard to see where the markers are), so some areas can be packed tighter than others - which makes hot yoga miserable (smelly/sweaty hair/feet/arms brushing/bumping into each other)! Otherwise, I'd say the flows are challenging because they're repetitive and done in the heated room, but not necessarily advanced yoga (no crazy arm balances etc.). Also the music is certainly not typical of yoga (hip hop/ rap etc.). Kind of depends on what you're looking for, but I thought it was a nice change of pace. read more

Y7 studio..the worst yoga experience and the worst customer service, ever! This ain't Soulcycle and they don't want to be! They don't want your feedback. You have an opinion? They don't care! Hip hop and Yoga sounds good, but this place is pure gimmick and nothing special. Let's start with the amateur yoga instruction where the instructor spoke commands like a robot with no personality. She gave no corrections, no modifications and no suggestions to take your practice to the next level. The music? They could have been playing Beethoven. It was background noise, nothing choreographed. None of the movements even jelled with the music. It was as if the teacher was just playing the album in order. No planning here. There is truly nothing unique about this place unless you count having to walk up 4 steep flights of stairs to get to class and oh ya , having one of the owners Mason mock me, a first time student at Y7, and then insult me on the phone by saying, "We expect the people who come to our class workout and can walk up stairs but if you can't then don't come." Great job , insult the customer. I do work out 6 days a week! But never again at this crappy y7 gimmick! When I told Mason I go to Soulcycle and also recently loved Erin Jacques amazing hip hop Yoga class at Exceed Physical Culture he told me, "we're not celebrity trainers here. These are just regular teachers." Wow, really?? Way to throw your instructors to the wolves! Then I asked for a refund and Mason goes, "Yah, I mean it's just 45 dollars." Money means nothing to this studio so don't spend yours here. Then Mason actually hung up on me. And when I called back twice he didn't pick up. So in my shocked state of mind I then walked 4 flights back up the stairs to the studio because, does this mean I am being refunded my money? I was told to call another owner named Sarah who also not once said , " I'm sorry you didn't like the class thanks for the feedback. " Nope, she just cut me off and said. "Ok, I got it you don't have to keep going on." You got nothing girl! This studio has serious issues, mainly the owners bad attitudes. Also, you will sweat a lot. But not from working hard, this class is not hard it's just hot, like Miami in the summer hot and really I had no idea. I hate hot yoga and I would not have shown up knowing this. If it says this somewhere, I never saw it on the web site or app. Also it smells in class. No one is cleaning the studio between classes, so there's sweat everywhere and the light are off so you can't see whose sweat your stepping in or putting your mat on. Gross and unsanitary. Anyway, if you do want to do yoga and get your hip hop on stay away from this place. But, if you want to get a great work out just show up. Walk the four flights of stairs up, to Y7 turn around then..walk down. Then, leave this joke of a studio and never, ever go back.!! read more

I've tried several classes/teachers here. The vibe is really cheesy and trying too hard to be trendy. None of the teachers taught me anything because you do yoga in the complete DARK and you can't hear anything beside vulgar hip hop music. How can you learn anything in the dark? Or by flowing on your own? I guess people go here to sweat since the room is heated. I'd rather go to more established teachers elsewhere. Not worth my time. Too pop/mainstream for my taste. This place has a unique take on traditional hot yoga. They play hip hop music during the class and the flows are definitely faster than a typical hot yoga class. The room is dark and relaxing and the usual 90 degrees. The teacher was good but she didn't ask if it was anyone's first time. I was with someone who was unfamiliar with yoga so she had trouble following at some points because it was so fast and the teacher walks around the class. The waiting room / space to put your stuff is also very cramped and gets jammed as classes switch but what else can you expect in NYC. Overall I will definitely return to this place using class pass (a little too pricey for me otherwise.) read more

I'm a devotee at an upper east side studio that shall remain nameless. Y7 Yoga was good, but I suspect it was only because of the instructor, Bree, who I happen to love from my other studio. I'm not sure I'll be back unless it's for a familiar instructor. The front desk girl was very nice. I like the facilities. Here's an overview: PROS - Friendly staff - Plentiful bathroom/ clean-up area - Cute attire for purchase - Candlelit studio - (If you're an experienced yogi) I did very much enjoy the independence to work through a flow on my own; however, if you're not experienced, I could see this as being confusing. - Active flow (you will burn calories) - Music CONS - 5th Floor walk-up (I was fine with this but do see this as an accessibility issue) - No lockable lockers for your belongings. It's yoga, and I get that it's supposed to be a sanctuary, but realistically we do live in NYC and people are sketchy AF. - Very sorority-esque! I was laying around before class trying to get into my "zen" space and there were several pockets of chatty girls that were quite annoying. I moved my mat to a completely different area of the room to try to give myself space, but their voices really carried. The clientele here is very soul-cycle. - The studio is SUPER DARK. Get there early so that you can settle in to the room while they prop the door open so that you can get some light. Otherwise, you're in basically totally darkness and it can be tricky. Also, if you're new(-ish) to yoga, the dark room could impede on your ability to follow the class. It's hard to see what anyone else is doing because it's super dark. You'll have to rely on your yoga comprehension and names of poses and movements. I can't understand how the instructors can appropriately correct students for this reason. - Not conducive to the typical meditative aspect of yoga. I left feeling jolted and grrrrrrr angry, not la-la-la zen. It was weird. read more

I have taken two classes at this studio and these are my general takeaways. Pros: - Great music - Nice vibe with the candles and darkened room - Awesome temperature, enough to get very sweaty but not feel like you are going to pass out - Ability to rent a nonslip mat cover Cons: - Very crowded reception area especially around back to back classes. This is not so pleasant when you're running into sweaty people and/or are sweaty yourself - As someone who takes yoga 3x/week and has been on a yoga retreat, I have still found the vinyasa sequences to be too complicated for flowing on one's own. 8-10 asanas at a time is a lot to remember especially when you are switching sides and twisting to loud music. I wish they would simplify the "flow on your own" component of the class and keep the complexity to the guided portion, as well as spend some time correcting form and alignment. Overall an awesome experience. You get all the amazing, hard flows of a vinyasa class paired with loud bass and candlelight. Totally obsessed! I definitely would call this an intermediate class but don't let that discourage any beginners. The room is so dark, and the instructors really encourage doing what feels right for your body. Some yoga studios (and yogis) can be judge-y but I've always felt so comfortable at Y7. Not giving this location a full 5 stars just because of amenities. Face towels have never been available a single class of mine. Seems like an issue for management...first class of the day and still no towels?! Space is tiny with no showers or changing rooms aside from 2 bathrooms. Although, they do offer a nice array of toiletries, hair ties, etc. Only other downside is their merch is so cute I want to buy it all :) Can't wait for my next class! read more

I've so far taken 1 class at Y7 a couple months ago. I liked it, it was ok. The studio space on 23rd is really cramped and extremely dark if you're walking in a couple min before class. The instructor was cool to introduce herself or chat for a min after when I said it was my first time. My biggest thing is I wrote in asking for assistance to transfer a credit as a gift to my boyfriend. I received a confirmation from someone named "V" this could be done on 12/7/16. I wrote back on the 14th asking for it to be done, no response still. Maybe in 2018 I'll hear something? Trying to go again but this response time is kind of ridiculous and the credit is still in my account. read more

I had heard of Y7 from several friends, but didn't get around to it until I moved just down the street from the studio. One of my favorite instructors, Chloe Mackenzie, teaches here. I started taking her classes at a studio uptown in Harlem, and I have decided that I will follow her anywhere. I would even trek to the Upper East Side for her classes. That's saying something. Chloe has incredible taste in music and she always plays the newest/coolest stuff (aka tracks from my own Soundcloud playlists because I'm cool too). It's candlelit, I'm dripping pools of sweat, and Chloe is guiding me through one of those flows that both challenge me and make me want to topple over and pass out. Chloe and all other instructors lead you through several movements and then give you an opportunity to flow by yourself. There are cubbies, two bathrooms, mats and towels for rent, hair dryers, plastic bags, hair dryers, and a few other things that I am probably forgetting to mention. I dig it. read more

Hands down my favorite yoga place. I've take a few bikram and vinyasa yoga classes throughout Manhattan and this is ultimately my favorite. I've only been to it twice (including the soho location). I love what y7's got going on - dark candlelit room with hip hop inspired music playing - occasionally throwing in the zen music. So onto the class itself, it's fast! Keep your ears open and move quickly. This is after all, flow yoga! The instructor will take you into a sequence of about 4 combination of positions and then you have 3 minutes to flow on your own, at your own pace. The only downfall for me is .. Although I'm listening, I cannot memorize the sequences for the life of myself! I found myself peeking over my neighbors to see what pose I was suppose to be in then quickly follow. Tip: bring your own mat, towel, and a small towel to wipe the sweat that's profusively drippin down your face to your nose to your toes! I have been taking class here almost every weekend using class pass for the past 2 months and now I cant wait for Saturday morning to come. I love the darkened room without mirrors which allows me to just focus on feel rather than what I look like or be distracted by how others look. The two instructors that I keep going back to for "We Flow Hard" (Steph and Dina) are so motivating and amazing that I just feel like I can do anything by the end of the hour. In fact I feel so great that I often go downstairs and take a spin class after at Monster Spin. I will say that sharing the space makes for a funny combination. I love the very hip lounge that the two studios share but you can hear the thumping of the music from the spin class through the floor when you are laying on your mat at the end of class. But hey, this is New York, hearing your neighbors is nothing new. The one thing to know about the Vinyassa class is that the instructor will take you through the poses a few times and then you "flow on your own" - the first time I did know know that I was supposed to be remembering the poses and I just had to do my own thing for a few minutes which was fine, but I felt like a dope. In subsequent classes this was explained, but just in case, that is your heads up! If you are planning to go to work or brunch after- know that they do have showers but only two and they share with the spin studio so there might be a wait, but people are pretty quick and there is a dressing room that people use to free up the shower room. recently they put in a coffee bar too, so between yoga, spin and the lounge I can spend half my morning there. read more

Love love love Y7! For years I have avoided yoga thinking it would be too boring and not beneficial. I love going to Soul Cycle, Krav Maga and kickboxing and I thought there was no place for yoga in my life until a friend told me about Hip Hop candlelit yoga at Y7. To prepare myself I took a couple of basic classes elsewhere so I kind of had an idea of what to expect. It was the best experience! The staff was welcoming and encouraging. I also didn't feel embarrassed when I could quite keep my balance. The playlists are awesome, you break out into an awesome sweat and I love how the darkness in the room helps you get into your own zone, without the judgment of others. I've been going to both this location and SoHo and I plan on going every week. Thank you Y7 for making me love yoga! Hot yoga feels great but my review is more about the studio set up. I wish they had a bigger space or atleast lower the number of people per class in peak times like 6 or 7 pm. The class is too crowded and dark. The waiting area also gets crowded when one class is leaving and the other batch is preparing to enter. 2 bathrooms is simply not enough if you are rushing to pee after class. Mind you some people change in the bathroom and it takes longer. Also i understand they use cool hip hop music but it is not the right tune for the yoga flow and some of the beats make you feel worse when you are dizzy from the heat read more

Oy vay. This place is like the SoulCycle of yoga without the soul. I went to three different classes with three different instructors and really couldn't figure out the appeal. No one tells you where anything is or properly explains how the class works. (It's different from other yoga experiences in that class is broken down into three sections: 1) Where you do all the moves slowly together. 2) Where you do all the moves for one count each together. 3) Where you freestyle.) Did I mention it's pitch dark in there? So once you've helped yourself to a mat you stumble around looking for blocks and trying to lay your mat down. Once class starts, bc you can't see anything and the music is so loud you can't hear the instructors, you're never truly present or focused on your mat bc you're trying to figure out what she just said. The first class I made the mistake of wearing regular yoga pants to class expecting fans at the end of class for shavasana. It never came. It was so overwhelming I left the room to throw up. Loudly. No one on staff asked if I was okay. Second class I wore yoga shorts and the heat was far more bearable. Third class I needed to reschedule and there's no easy way to do it. You have to email the place online and then they redirect you to a different email. It's all super complicated and inconvenient. To their credit I didn't get charged, but the process could be simplified if we were able to speak with an actual person. Bottom line: this is a place you go if you're not super into yoga but just want to sweat to music and don't mind being treated like an inconvenience by the staff. Hip hop yoga/a Tribe Called Sweat without a single person of color on staff?? Gross Y7. Yoga is about mindfulness and ya'll need to get woke. read more

I've been practicing yoga for 10 years, and I had heard very suspicious things about this studio and its methods from my fellow students and teachers. The rumors are true, I'm afraid: the heat (an unnecessarily uncomfortable level) and darkness and lack of props makes for a very unsafe practice, let alone the simplicity of the sequences as a result of the rote 3-part choreography. The entire class I was more concerned about slipping on my mat (the rental fees for mats and towels are ridiculous, too) and not hitting someone to get into the flow at all. To top it all off, I was never able to sign in properly on the website to reserve classes with my 2-week unlimited membership, which didn't allow me to get the most out of my package. I tried to come to the studio with an open mind one day when I had an unexpected pocket of time, but I was extremely disappointed with the service and overall yoga experience. read more

I understand that's their policy and I respect that but I won't be coming back because there's things that you sometimes can't control. Honestly, when I first heard of Y7 I was a little skeptical to try it out, but only because I tend to prefer a slower flow that allows me to linger in each pose -- (disclaimer: when I first heard of the studio I wasn't aware of their Slow Burn yoga class at the time). Before class I was nervous about the pace of the movement, thinking I'd just be moving mindlessly through the poses and not getting enough out of the practice. I was also worried about practicing in a heated room, thinking I'd be on the verge of passing out after each vinyasa. Every expectation I had was wrong, thank goodness! I was so delightfully blown away by every aspect of the Y7 experience. I've taken two different instructors at this location (Kristen for Vinyasa; Alex for Slow Burn -- both give great hands-on adjustments) and both were extremely humble, authentic, and inspired me to explore MY practice. Each with their own unique way of teaching, both instructors seemed to honestly enjoy sharing the practice with their students. None of that pretentious, know-it-all crap I've experienced from other teachers at other studios. Aside from the,beat-bumping music, and lightly heated candlelit room, the quality and approachability of the instructors is yet another thing that sets Y7 apart from any other studios in the city. The pace of the Vinyasa class is fast enough to flow, yet not so overly fast that you feel lost or rushed at any time. The thought of practicing in a heated room was a bit of a turn off at first, but again I was delightfully surprised when the class started and it was warm enough to help with my stiff muscles, and not excessively warm to the point where you can't move or breathe. I'm a big fan of how detoxified I feel after each class. I love practicing in the candlelit room as well. It helps me tune more into my own practice, and focus less on what the person in front or next to me is doing. The music is a great mix of slower beats during the warm-up and cool-down phases of class, and increases to a more energizing pace during the flow portion of class. It seems as though each instructor really takes the time to think of how the music will help their students get deeper into their practice. It definitely helped me get out of my own head and really experience the practice in a way I had never felt before. No more over analyzing each posture or small movement. Just me and my own flow, moving in a way that felt good in my body. Overall, I'd say if you're looking to really explore your practice in a safe, welcoming atmosphere, then you should definitely check out Y7! I've also experience far more definition in my core since I began practicing here, so obviously that's a win in my book :) read more

I'm so happy to have found Y7 -- the combination of darkness, great music and instruction has finally revived my yoga practice after many years of being on / off. So much love for this place, and the owners Mason and Sarah who built everything from humble beginnings, from the ground up. I'd been frequenting Y7's Soho studio when they opened the space in Flatiron. What to expect? It's a beautiful loft-like space on the fourth floor - which at first thought is kind of a bummer at 7AM, but then remember you're coming to yoga... a little movement does a body good. We should all probably take the stairs more often anyway. The check-in area is accommodating, with racks for shoes and ample space to take them off, cubbies for bags and a decorative fireplace, which is decorated with "A Tribe Called Sweat" artwork. There are always fresh calla lilies on the front desk, and they have merchandise as well as Fiji water for sale. Beyond the check in area, there are two bathrooms and a dry bar, fully equipped with three blow dryers, lotions, deodorant, bags for sweaty clothes, face and body wipes, paper towels, dry shampoo, hair spray, etc. Definitely a pleasant and zen environment, with a touch of Y7's signature edge. The classes themselves, at least from the three instructors I've experienced, are awesome and always an incredible workout. I'm sore for at least two days after, in places I've never been sore before :). The premise of Y7 is to marry yoga and music for people who love them both equally, and classes are conducted in a candlelit room -- a great way to ease into the day or unwind at the end of a long one. Lately I've been going to Elian Zach's 7AM class on Thursday mornings, and it's a consistently challenging vinyasa flow. Her voice is so soothing and she always takes a moment before class to ask if anyone in the room doesn't want adjustments (doing some kind of signal with our eyes closed, for privacy). I also highly recommend taking class with Alex Sharry, who has a fascinating understanding of how to use yoga to get closer to yourself, and Rob, whose classes always bring playfulness into my practice. The classes have a "flow on your own" element -- which used to make me really uncomfortable but is now a welcome challenge. I've become more aware in my practice, too. Instead of just obeying the instructors commands, I feel my body in the pose and let it leave a mental imprint so I'm ready to flow when the time comes. It's been a great way for me to go deeper into the practice, and become more independent. It is hot yoga, so you can expect to work up a sweat. However I can attest the room we practice in never reeks like feet and has always been sanitary. Sure, lack of showers isn't ideal but a little advance planning (come with clean hair) and use of the well-stocked dry bar make a world of difference. Many other upscale studios around the city don't even offer a dry bar (Brooklyn Bodyburn, SLT, several yoga studios) so to me having that available is a big bonus. It's also notable that there's a ton of space, enough for at least five people to be getting ready at once though I'm usually there on my lonesome on Thursdays so getting ready is never an issue. I personally love this studio and location -- it's really nice for Y7 to have a home of its own! The other studios have their own charm but this one is close to my office, is incredibly spacious and has the dry bar -- win, win, win. Highly, highly recommend! read more

Wow. I love Y7. I was basically brand new to yoga before I started practicing at Y7 in January. I had tried a couple different studios in San Francisco and New York, but none of them clicked for me. When I walked into Y7, I knew right away that it was different then the other studios I had been too, and I started having fun right away. Now I go to Y7 almost everyday and it's been an awesome couple of months. Y7 blends a unique studio atmosphere, awesome teachers, and passionate yogis to form a special community like nothing else I've ever known. I'm so excited to be a part of such a rewarding and giving community. The studio spaces are amazing. Every one of them is polished ands super homey with there own unique quirks. You can expect a friendly check-in, welcoming and knowledgeable teachers, heated vinyasa, candles, bumpin tunes, and lots of sweat. My favorite part of Y7 are the awesome teachers. Each teacher brings something different to your practice and they are all so friendly and guiding. My practice has grown so much in the few short months I've been attending Y7. As a beginner, I felt confident to ask questions and try new things within my first couple of classes. Y7 takes teacher training seriously and it really shows. I've learned so much and met so many wonderful people over the last few months. Whatever yoga is for you, whether you're looking for some fun, a solid workout, just want to try something new, or find a consistent practice - Y7 is all of those things and much more. This studio is just a cash grab. The concept seems cool-hip hop hot vinyasa, but they try to pack in as many people as they can, even 5 minutes pass after class began! This pisses me off because the first time I came here, they wouldn't let me in just because I was 3 minutes late. They should know that they spend the first 5 minutes of class moving people around and letting the students talk in class. This was the noisiest yoga class I've ever taken. The flat iron location is terrible too. It smells so bad, like bad b.o. Also, being that it's a unisex gym, there's absolutely no room to change, but save 2 small bathrooms. They pack at least 35 people in that class but only had the changing space enough for 2 persons??? Are you kidding me? I would give them one star if it weren't for the typical vinyasa routine. The instructors mainly go around giving instruction, but rarely correct anyone. My instructor did correct me at some point, so that's why I'm giving this place an extra star. They also push sell their skidless towels and mat rentals on you. Mat rentals are $2 and towels are $3. I did a good sweat, but I don't like their business motto and how they do things. Flatiron is a really shitty location. The ues location is sooooo much nicer and spacious. Too bad this cash grab place packs ppl in like sardines in the beginning of class. I really think they should do this 10 minutes before class. Start class when class should start. This is 2/3 times I've been to this gym where the instructor wasted 5 minutes on the beginning of class making room for other people. Meanwhile, I'm 3 minutes late and I can't go in???? On Labor Day I signed up for Y7 Flatiron and took a cab all the way downtown to go to this studio. When we got there the instructor was standing outside saying she was locked out but please wait bc she'd figure it out and we'd get in. After standing outside on the street for 40 minutes she told us to leave because she couldn't get in. Last week I signed up again for Sunday class and I signed up one week in advance on Class Pass to secure my spot since weekends fill quickly EVERYWHERE. Just five minutes ago, as I was getting ready to leave, I received an email that the class is cancelled. Now there are NO OTHER CLASSES on class pass available last minute so I am screwed again. The manager has been extremely unresponsive and doesn't seem to care that we have been completely screwed by Y7 multiple times. So unbelievably unprofessional. Horrible. read more

I experienced my first hot yoga at Y7. It was on a Thursday evening, date night with myself and a bunch of strangers, in a candle lit room.The yoga teacher knew how to keep us engaged in a dark candle lit room. At times I closed my eyes to focus on the words, music and my energy. Yoga room was was cozy and beautiful. Don't expect lockers, they don't have. You will find cubby spaces and a bathroom. However, it's best to change prior to getting there (if you can). The waiting area gets crammed during class transition but it's only a few minutes of craziness before you enter the yoga room for your hour of zen. read more

yoga is a bit boring for me but y7 knows how to lure me into their classes. there's just something about the vibe that appealing. even though everyone is dripping in sweat after each class, you know their got a good yoga workout out of it. the room is dark so you don't have to worry if you're doing it wrong. the instructors take you through every position slowly at first and then then you get to do your own thing after each flow for about half a song. i've been to most of their locations in the city and their all pretty much the same. read more

There is no other yoga studio or experience that's comparable. Hot (but not too hot), dark, candlelit, pumping hip hop/pop tunes out a real sound system, deep flows, combo of slow & fast pace, the instructors are all great and very inspirational. Their front desk staff are well trained, always positive and good spirited, even at 7am, which goes a long way toward the customer experience. Absolutely loved this class! I have been teaching yoga for 20 years and have my own yoga and Pilates studio in Boston, but teach Pilates privates in Chelsea once a week. I know what I'm doing, know spaces, know how to teach- my yoga training very classical Ashtanga style. And I completely loved every minute of this class! The dark, the candles, the music- was sooo fun! Kristin was excellent! As a Pilates instructor, I am sometimes disappointed in yoga class when the instructor doesn't cue proper alignment, core engagement or form...that was NOT the case here! Kristin knows her stuff, anticipated our needs! We were given fabulous instructions, a practice round and then we flowed- it felt much like dancing and I loved every minute. Loved the 4 floor trek up to the studio... not for the lazy!! Now, I took this class after a 10 mile run an hour before, after getting up at 1:30AM to leave Boston for a 7AM private client in Chelsea- it was appropriately challenging for a person of a modest fitness level. I would've loved an even harder class but have 3 more hours of my own teaching to do and then a drive home so most importantly, it was fun and the instructor very friendly, the front desk helpful! I loved the space- bright and welcoming, the studio dark and just great for the workout!!!! Kudos- I'll definitely be back and will try to plan my own teaching schedule to get a class in every week when I'm in NY! Great job!!! read more

I love the classes and the teachers at this studio but the space is definitely subpar. There are two bathrooms for changing, etc and no other space to just get dressed. When classes let out and the next class is waiting you can have up to 60 bodies in this tiny narrow space and 30 of them are sweaty. It's near impossible to get cleaned up here after a session and the air flow is also terrible. I wish they would move to a larger space within the same immediate area. read more

This is my favorite yoga studio in NY. The atmosphere is awesome. The flows are challenging. And the people are so nice.

This studio has a cool thing going on: candlelit hip hop hot yoga with no mirrors. I really like the flow of the class. It's a good workout that will leave you satisfied in the end. However, your buzz is killed the minute you walk out the studio. Y7 does not properly space their evening classes, so there are people crowded in the waiting & changing areas when class ends. Ok fine, but while waiting for the crowd to clear, I noticed some unforgivable things. I don't think Y7 cleans the studio between classes, which is unsettling because there are puddles of sweat everywhere. The mats are also barely cleaned (you rent them and they ask you to clean them yourself!). It was hard watching people take sweaty mats. So if you are someone who lives in the neighborhood, bring their own mat, and can quickly exit the situation, this place may be for you! But for those who need to spend more time here, you'll probably need to adjust your expectations. Sadly, I won't be returning. Perhaps things are more civilized at their other locations? read more
