Okay, I've actually been here now, so I can attest to the restaurant experience being equally as good as just the food itself! I came in and was greeted by a very sweet girl. She was also very accommodating, letting me take my time and checking in on customers to make sure everything was going well. She also spoke Spanish, which is a plus because there were a lot of Spanish-speaking customers. I ordered the mixed shawarma bowl with half rice and half salad and went to sit down in their beautiful, clean dining area. The seats were very colorful and a lot of them had traditional fabric laid on the top that just added to the vibe. I also loved the customer chalkboard that they had to write your favorite dishes, which I did. Sooner or later, my bowl arrived, and it was packed to the brim. The garlic sauce is always soooo good, and I devoured about half of the bowl before I was full enough and took the rest to go. Traveling home from Yosemite and we had a tire issues and were forced to pit stop in Fresno. The manager at American Tire Depot highly recommend Yafa Grill, and in particular the spicy chicken. Love the flavor of the chicken kabob here, doesn't even need the galic sauce but it's also super yummy. Always friendly service and the place is clean, like they bleach everything everyday clean. We said for here and they told us to take a sit and someone would be with us to take our order. Place was very clean and their menu is a good size. They have lunch and dinner specials. I will say it was only 6 cubed pieces of chicken but I'm sure it's due to it being the lunch plate. The pita and hummus were okay, and everything else was good. Th family came here for lunch the other day and everyone e loved their choice. This is a small, unassuming, very casual place on Blackstone, and unless I'd heard about it, I probably wouldn't have ever noticed it there. But I'm glad we'd heard about the good reviews and gave it a try. The service was very fast, warm, and friendly. The server took our orders promptly and the food came out really fast too. Everyone loved the bread, which was thinner than regular pita bread. One of us got chicken shawarma, which was excellent, with rice, salad, hummus and bread. One of us got lamb, and he was really happy with that. One of us got a beef dish which was wrapped in this bread but in pieces -- it wasn't a regular "wrap" as I've come to expect and I wish I had remembered the name of the dish. It came with some very fresh/crispy crinkle fries. And I was in the mood for a chicken kebab plate -- like the shawarma, it came with the same sides. It also came with a good serving of delicious garlic sauce. I was so hungry I ate several bites before my husband reminded me I hadn't taken a photo. Oops. Everyone else was already eating too. But I got one photo of my partially eaten kebab plate - sorry for the wonky photo. This is my favorite place in all of Fresno. My go-to spot if I want a hearty meal. Even when I am not craving anything in particular, their chicken shawarma plate will always satiates me. My friend ordered a salad bowl with chicken and garlic sauce on top. My wrap was decent with a good amount of meat for the price. Kinda wish it had more tomato and veggies though. You could probably ask to have more put on. The pickles inside were good. My friend said her bowl was good. Oh my gosh! I don't know where to begin! This place is amazing! And the people working there are so cool, too! I'm feeling a bit under the weather and wanted some soup. So I stopped there and man, they definitely delivered! I found out that it's his mom's recipe for the lentil soup... (I feel bed, I should have asked for his name, but I think I might even know his mom. Which doesn't change anything about my review, in all honesty). I also got a mixed bowl which comes with chicken and beef and I did half rice, and half salad. Talk about deeeelishhh! I'm a suckered for garlic sauce and it was so freaking good! I got to even feel a bit like royalty with those beautiful booths woth that tall backs and I could easily sit there, just listening to the music. It's just such a relaxing atmosphere. Paid about $14 with a tip. Food was ready fairly quickly and nice and warm. Bowl looks nice and full... of rice(a little plain looking with sauces on the side) Very rice heavy, with a layer of chicken on the top. Would guess it to for sure be under half a pound of protein. Food was okay without the sauces(chicken a little dry), but with the sauces is a great combination. Both sauces are pretty good, assuming why they charge if you ask for more. Did not ask, but seen they had a sign stating so. Would I come back? I came by after work and found a clean nice space. Only one other customer was there. I placed my order and waited about 15 minutes. Service was friendly. There was a man taking orders and helping the one cook. They worked well together and got the order out quickly. When I got home, everything was packaged thoughtfully (I so appreciate that) with all the accouterments we needed. Overall, I found the food good and fresh but not outstanding compared to our favorite spots. I will keep coming back here though because of their hours, freshness and customer service. Was surprised at the sit down service when we walked in. Restaurant is inviting and very clean (white/gray ceramic tile flooring) and had large comfortable booths. The man who seated us and took our order was nice and assisted with questions we had. Comes with a combination of beef kabab, chicken kabab and kafta. Supposed to be topped with onions and bell peppers which I did not get. Came with garlic sauce on the side with rice, salad, hummus, pickles, & pita. He said 15 mins. Ok I wait. I'm taking pics. The place is nice and clean. A guy walks in and he orders and he somehow gets his food BEFORE me. I'm like WTH. And it's passed 15 mins btw. Bout 20 mins in, the guy that took my order kindly told me there's a wait on rice cus he gotta cook some more. I'm thinkin did he just give dude my rice?! Lmao. Idk but why couldn't he just tell me this in the beginning? He told me 10 min wait. OM-Gosh! if you are within the sound of my (typed) voice and considering Mediterranean food, look no further than this beautiful and tasty restaurant! I had perhaps the MOST delicious swarma wrap EVER in my life! Complex, juicy, perfectly seasoned, amazing textures... even the little side of garlic sauce was enough to completely enjoy this large wrap! It's exactly the size of g-sauce that you SHOULD receive but some places (which I never return to) give you half and then charge you for a tablespoon more! Really?? Test number one was passed with flying colors: I like a lot of vegetables and wanted more onion, pickles, and tomatoes... no problem. Perfectly executed according to my wishes. And although you might expect that to be the case, it often never is and you find somebody just saying yes and then never doing what it is you've requested. That alone can sometimes be enough to NEVER return to a place. Passive aggressive cashiers... I spend about six hours in the gym every week ... I'm always looking for a pre-workout or post-workout meal that has a nice mix of nutrients along with protein. In the past, I've gone over to panda express and a couple other places... Snore, it works but never much different... Forget that now! The food here was generous and an excellent value. Juicy and delicious! And it's right down the street from me in Fig Garden! Can't wait to try other things and if they're even half as good as what I just had, I will never go to another boring Mediterranean restaurant elsewhere. Most are marginal at best, checking a box but never eliciting a dream of wanting or triggering drool! lol Did I mention that the restaurant is spotless, clean, beautiful and has excellent separation, elbow room between the eating areas? I was finally able to go here as I have been looking for real shawarma that's cooked vertically and sliced thinly. They have the vertical, so that was cool. It's very clean and organized inside. I was greated immediately by a friendly young lady. I let her know it was my first time so she was giving me details about what's popular. I man (assumming part of the ownership) came over and explained even more. The conversation was great as you can tell he has pride in his food. I ended up getting the Mixed Shawarma plate with all salad, a side of falafel and the cake they have. I knew I couldn't eat it all of this food, but I wanted to sample as they are far from where I live. Chicken shawarma with the garlic sauce is my favorite. Unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations. :( Only because it lacked a little flavor and wasn't sliced thin. I also had too many hard peices. The beef was great! I usually never get the beef solely because the chicken is usually just better in all shawarma wraps! The hummus was great .. very smooth with no grainy parts. The pita was hard as a rock, so I just bypassed it. Now, my poor salad. I did not get rice and asked for ALL salad. When I got back to my hotel it looked underdressed. I called because I thought maybe they forgot it, but I was told they tossed it for me which is very nice. When I went to try it I tasted nothing but meat drippings. :( Bummed about that because the salad was beautiful, but I did not get to really experience it.
