What really made the experience exceptional, though, was our server, Camila. She wasn't just 5 stars--she was 10 stars. Went there on a Sunday night for my wife's birthday. The place was practically empty, but you couldn't tell by the slow service. Overall, the best part of my meal was the old-fashioned. We ordered musakhan rolls, which were warm at best and really heavy on the cinnamon and or all spice. We also ordered grape leaves, hummus, batata harra and planned to share the lamb kebabs (or so we thought). The food was underwhelming, like seasoning and flavor. Absolutely AMAZING! I took my mom to Layaly for Mother's Day after seeing raving reviews on social media, and it did not disappoint! We started with the mezze trio served with crudité and pita bread. All of the dips were fresh and flavorful, my personal favorite was the labneh. It was smooth, creamy, and absolutely delicious! For our entrees, I ordered the chicken kabob and my mom chose the lamb kabob. Both dishes came with a grilled tomato, peppers, a red onion salad, rice, and an assortment of sauces. The veggies were refreshing and slightly sweet, and the meats were perfectly seasoned and juicy!! And the sauces were all amazing and truly elevated the entire meal. TLDR: I had a really nice meal here on a Friday night. The service was superb from start to finish. The restaurant is in a small lot, so they offer complimentary valet. I was offered a table vs. my go to (bar seating) I'm assuming because they weren't very busy. The server was very friendly and made great recommendations, so I went with the chicken kebab. This was marinated in a delicious mixture of flavors and was very tender. The basmati rice was fragrant and steaming hot. For dessert, they recommended the knafeh, a sweet, cheesy, and crunchy traditional dish. This dish came with warmed orange blossom simple syrup which just set the tone for the entire dish. It was so delicious, nothing like I've ever had. The perfect balance of sweet, salty, and crunchy. Visited this restaurant recently and the customer service as a 10/10. The food menu was a slightly limited but that won't prevent me from going back. It seems as though they may be a newer establishment and are trying to figure out some things but the food was delicious and the cocktails were perfect. The waitress said they have a belly dancer on Saturdays nights, we went on Wednesday. I also like that they have a shaded, cooled patio. I got a Mezcal based drink recommended by our server and my wife got a lemon vodka based drink. Both were really good! Balanced and flavorful. My Mezcal drink had a nice smokiness (but still very fresh/tart) taste to it. It also came with Tajin on the rim, which I LOVE. Mine was called The Dead Sea, and my wife's was called Ya Habibi. We ordered the trio appetizer along with the Rosemary Chicken and the Lamb Shank. The pita bread--whether complimentary or not--was fresh and very good, and the trio was enjoyable but the Lamb Shank was nothing special and the rice was dry. The Rosemary Chicken was the main issue. The dish came with only one small piece of chicken, which seemed inconsistent with photos from other reviews showing larger portions or two pieces. We ordered the grape leaves, mezze trio, and kafta kabab. The grape leaves were a bit meatier than I am used to but they were sooo delicious. The mezze trio was refreshing with such a great assortment of vegetables and pita to eat with the hummus, labneh, and baba ghanoush. The mezzo trio with warm pita was my favorite dish for the night. My main critic is the portions are small for the price. I waited an hour for food but the manager brought out more hummus for us because of the long wait, which was nice. Receiving a slice of cake at the end took an additional 30 minutes. In total, I waited over 2 hours for food. The tahini cookie butter crumble cake was new and innovative to me. The restaurant is very cozy and nice, but don't sit in the covered patio during the rain. We were saving room for our main entrees, but it was hard not to finish everything on this platter. I had seen that they had a special off menu item of Kousa Mahshi and was super excited to try that. Unfortunately, they were not serving it on the night we went and instead had molokhia. I ended up trying the musakhan instead which was DIVINE. I was very excited to see all three of these even if Kousa Mahshi was not being served that night. You typically do not see these item, and was very pleasantly surprised that Layaly had them. We ended our experience at Layaly with Dubai Chocolate cheesecake. It was amazing. The perfect end to our night. Layaly is a quaint place that feels very home-y, as if you are sitting in a bed and breakfast. It is also a family-owned restaurant that offers Mediterranean food in Chamblee. It is kind of hidden on the highway, but do not miss out on this place! It was not too busy when I got there, so the service was fairly quick. We got the Hummus, Lamb Kabob, Chicken Kabob, Turkish Mule, and Desert Dusk. The Hummus was pretty typical, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. My boyfriend got the Lamb Kabob which he loved! I tried a bit of the lamb, which is also a meat I never had before, and I liked it. I thought my Chicken Kabob was seasoned well, but I do wish the meat was a bit more tender. Came here with a group of 9 people with a reservation. The valet said they were full so we had to self park at 6:45 with our reservation at 7. The ambiance was ok but felt dated. Then we got seated immediately but with missing plates and silverware and that wasn't rectified until dinner came. We had ordered a bottle of wine but only received a glass at first, and once again the bottle of wine also came with the food. The server we had constantly kept changing and no one seemed to keep up with us. The appetizer came a literal minute before our main course. I ate the kofteh kabob and it wasn't impressive at all. One of the people in our party didn't get food until after everyone else and she didn't even get the right dish and had to wait again. My husband, son, and I made reservations for a Saturday at 6 pm. It was challenging parking as when we tried to turn into the valet, the valet was trying to back out into the few spots in front of the restaurant. That was the only scary part of the evening, being partly stuck on Clairmont Rd while valet was backing up. Husband took initiative of parking us in the gravel lot just next to the restaurant so we would not be in no man's land. It was challenging to walk in my heels on the gravel so I will wear flats next time. From there, everything went smoothly. We were warmly greeted and seated quickly. We received water and offered drinks almost immediately. While we perused the menu, our server, Selena, came and checked on us. She found out for me that mocktail of the day, which was lychee flavored, and I am a big fan of lychee! We ordered three appetizers, the stuffed grape leaves, hummus, and falafel. We enjoyed all three appetizers. We ordered two entrees, the honey harissa chicken, which was a large portion worth of sharing, and kousha mashi which was a stuffed squash, as well as a side of batan harrah which are indeed spicy! We arrived around 5 pm or so. It was not busy but we were not allowed to be seated in the dining area due to the lack of having a reservation. Which we were then offered a seat at the bar or the patio, we chose the patio. Service : Service was subpar, nothing to rave about but our server was nice. That's about all I have on that. Food: If we judged the value of our food from pictures alone then this place deserves a 10/10. Unfortunately thats not how it works. This restaurant is the Catfish of all middle eastern restaurants. Their menu presents a different blend of so called Palestinian and Lebanese styled food. As a Palestinian cook it taints the food and the culture to cater to the American ways. Starting with appetizers we ordered a plate of Hummus, Kibbeh Nayeh which I was the most excited for which came with a basket of pita bread. The hummus had the appearance and proper consistency but lacked flavor. Whereas the Kibbeh Nayeh that you can only get on Friday and Saturday is like getting a plate of beef cat food. A dish perfected by the Lebanese is supposed to bring a fresh flavor of raw meat, grittiness of bulgur topped with vegetables and olive oil and instead we got some slimy beef that was well plated and tasted like it came from a can. For our meal we had the Chicken Kebab with Rice. The chicken was tasty and had flavor, however not cooked to perfection. The rice was bland and lacked flavor and the the quarter onion and tomato which if cooked properly on a kebab should be charred and grilled a little. Ours was raw and flavorless. Conclusion: If you are tricked by social media and convinced by the trend of middle eastern culture in the city to eat at this restaurant you fell for the trap. About 15 minutes after putting in the drink order they take our food orders. We had a mix of entrees and appetizers - explicitly requested that the entrees be served at the same time as the apps. 15 minutes later appetizers come out - Even though we asked for them to be served with the entrees (somebody got 2 appetizers instead of an entree). 10 minutes later the pitas that were supposed to be included with the appetizers show up with part of one entree. 5 minutes later drinks arrive (35+ minutes after we ordered them). Shortly thereafter the remainder of the first entree and the other entree shows up. Finally the menu says the cocktails are $14 each - but the receipt says $15 each read more
