We've been for brunch a couple of times and finally made it for dinner. The cocktails are still solid and the service excellent. We didn't order our favorite the radicchio salad because we wanted to branch out but the grilled green beans could have used more char. They were still good but not radicchio salad good. The hummus with burnt end was delicious as was the one pita. I wish we had thought to order an extra pita. So much goodness needed more pita. The fire roasted peaches and charred eggplant were delicious. The smoked beef short rib was unctuous and rich and I loved it but it could have used something pickled to add some brightness. I'd still order it again. The Basque cheesecake was good if a little sweet. I'd order the berry sauce on the side in the future. You don't want the sauce breaking down the cheesecake too crust of why order Basque cheesecake. Really, minor notes on an excellent meal. I definitely recommend. read more

Came here for Sunday brunch and had excellent food and service. There is plenty of indoor tables and a nice bar area. Great spot for drinks and shareable plates. The cucumber soda was bright and refreshing, pairing nicely with the bold and rich food. The Pastrami Hash was delicious. The meat was flavorful, and we enjoyed the potatoes and peppers. We also tried the Kchachapuri, which was the perfect mix of crunchy bread and creamy cheese. These dishes were rich and heavy, so i would definitely suggest ordering a salad or lighter dish to better balance the meal. For sweets, the chestnut donuts which were a big hit. Our server was super polite and also brought out a complementary cheesecake for my parent's anniversary. Super decadent and tasty!! Overall, we had a great experience at Yalla. Food was absolutely delicious. We came here for the first time for Valentine's Day, and we're looking forward to trying their short rib, but it was out by the time we got seated.....pretty bummed about that, but will be back to try it next time! We ended up getting a nice cocktail, the radicchio salad (10/10!), the burn ends hummus (10/10!), and the special ravioli with black truffles (flavor was 10/10, portion was 6/10). The ravioli was divine, but it only came with 7pieces, for $37.....12 pieces would be more sufficient for a main dish. Waitresses dress pretty casual for a nicer restaurant, didn't bother me, but it was something I noticed. Service was friendly and prompt. Will be back! read more

This place deserves 10/10 for all the effort they went to for me and my allergies. I was diagnosed with a super complicated allergy this year which has made it impossible for me to eat out anymore. This sort of is a non option when I'm traveling and a place like this was worth the risk. The waiter listened to the details of my allergy very carefully and thoughtfully then marked up a menu with the chefs for me with the safest options and ingredient substitution possibilities for me. They took me so seriously and made me feel safe asking for what I needed. This place is also gorgeous. The back patio was such a vibe on a summer evening. The food is DIVINE. It's a great place for groups who might have mixed eating restrictions and they obviously understand the importance of freshness. Every dish we had clearly had a lot of thought in it and the execution was superb. All the textures were spot on. My favorite dish was the corn! So yum. Loved the wine I had too. All their wines are sourced from really unique and special places. Definitely worth getting a glass. The owner should be proud of the staff they have and the menu they have created. read more

We ordered about 5 plates for sharing and everything was so full of flavor, so delicious! Can't say anything about the dinner service but living way across town, I'd make the trek here again for the amazing brunch we had! This is a new favorite for us! The restaurant was packed but our reserved table on heated patio was pleasant and ready for us. The server was very accommodating and gave us great suggestions. Limited street parking which was the only drawback. However, I will gladly deal with that next time because the food is inspired, creative, and delicious. Well what can I say, had high expectations for Yalla and did it deliver and exceed. Stopped here on a Friday evening without a reservation for two and we waited for 45 minutes. The place is in a cute little neighborhood with stores and other businesses around so we walked and explored while we waited. Once called, we were seated indoors, but there is outdoor seating as well. Everything on the menu looked appetizing, but we couldn't let our eyes be bigger than our stomachs. For food, we ordered the Hummus with Burnt Ends, Blistered Shishitos, Schmaltz Cornbread, and the Fried Chicken. For drinks, we had the Iced Moroccan Mint Tea and the Sage Honey House Soda. We typically do family style for dining, and Yalla was perfect for that! The Blistered Shishitos and Hummus with Burnt Ends came out first. The shishitos were amazing, topped with a lime wedge, the whipped garlic feta sauce that the peppers were bedded on top completed the dish. It gave such a refreshing and light meal with a pack of flavor. The Hummus with Burnt Ends and Pita was probably the highlight of the meal. The hummus tasted so fresh and coupled with the pita, which was super airy, was beyond my expectations. The burnt ends, garlic confit, and bit of pesto made it very difficult to stop eating. The Schmaltz Cornbread came out next and when I say I'm a huge cornbread fanatic, don't let it fool you when I say this this a must get. The cornbread was also light and airy and was topped with some honeycomb glaze that made the dish savory and sweet. Last but not least , the Fried Chicken came out and it didn't disappoint. The crisp texture didn't compromise how juicy and tender the chicken was and the honey glaze on top made the dish feel very homey while being highly elevated. I may not have done this right, but I had the cornbread and fried chicken together and it gave me chicken and waffle vibes, not complaints here. The House Soda was good, but it didn't differentiate too much from any other carbonated drink. I'm not a huge soda drinker in the first place, but wanted to try it out. The Iced Moroccan Mint Tea was very delicate and perfect side drink to the meal. You couldn't go wrong with either. The only negative I have for Yalla was the service could be a bit more attentive. They were very nice and pleasant, but we would have to ask or call the waiter/waitress when we needed something. And trying to get their attention was a bit difficult at times. Overall, I would definitely come back and would recommend this to friends! read more

The food here is incredible and is honestly a STEAL for the quality, ambiance, and service. My date and I walked in without a reservation on a Sunday and were immediately seated. We ordered the burnt end hummus with roasted poblanos (a favorite dish, the best burnt ends I've ever had), the lamb kebab (another favorite, lamb has no right being so juicy), the raddicio salad (a crisp, refreshing palate cleanser), and the falafel (an unbelivable flavor). All the food was flavored to perfection, and even though we had ordered enough for leftovers, we only spent maybe $40/person with tip. Incredible. Unbeatable. I guess in our table, there's ONLY ME, but none came with our table (or elsewhere for that), but we have to ASK! Every dish was a 10 out of 10. Excellent humus and pita with an earthy, hearth oven cooked flavor with the perfect blend of a chewy yet soft texture. The cornbread with honey was almost desert like decadent. The cedar plank salmon was perfectly cooked and topped with lightly spicy salsa. The fire roasted peaches was an excellent accompaniment to this late summer dinner. Well worth the price. Service-wise, efficient and very friendly. Best of all, while we were dinning an unusual summer downpour left us stranded without a coat or umbrella with our car a ten minute walk away, but our server let me borrow her personal umbrella to retrieve our car saving me from a soaking. Yalla offers a great happy hour from 4pm to 5pm. The food is delicious, the drinks are creative and well-made, and the service is excellent. We ordered off the happy hour menu: roasted cauliflower, hummus, fries, and yellow falafel. The cauliflower was a bit plain, but the hummus was the smoothest I've ever had, the fries were perfectly crispy, and the falafel was one of the best I've ever tasted. I tried the Lazer Mountain drink and my friend had the Surly Mule, and both were excellent. The Multnomah Village location is the worst! We have been treated poorly on more than one occasions. Both were birthday's - one being mine back in June where the staff was rolling their eyes because we asked to combine some tables together! Which ultimately ended up in their favor because we spent more money on food and drinks! The other one was today when they cancelled our reservations without telling us. My partner called to add on and they said "oh we are canceling all reservations this evening" which was for my mother in law's birthday & you think if they had to close for any reason - they would have been calling EARLY this morning! I have gave them two chances! And we all know, fool me once shame on me but fool me twice shame on you! We will not be giving this location ANY money or business. I've eaten here multiple times and have never been disappointed and always pleasantly surprised. I'm not the most adventurous eater, so I often find a dish I like and stick with it, but I haven't had to do that here at Yalla. I've tried many different dishes and have enjoyed every one. Though we have ordered the harissa honey fried chicken as one of the dishes every time and that is always a hit. I love sharing that family style because one piece is plenty for me. Our friend recently said it was the best fried chicken he'd ever had and I think he's tried a decent variety of fried chicken. Yalla is also responsible for my new obsession with lebne. Their lebne with winter citrus and pomegranate molasses was a flavor sensation - I took the Tbsp we had left (with other leftovers) home with me and not a drop was wasted! The staff are always so friendly, attentive and kind and the ambiance is just lovely. I have eaten in the bar and dining room and don't think I would enjoy eating outside as much. The cozy atmosphere in the bar is probably my favorite. This is on my list of Portland favorites and where I want to come for special occasions or no occasion at all. read more

There were 6 of us so we ordered a lot off the menu- Turkish carrot salad, Hummus Abu Hassan, Hummus with burnt beef ends, roasted squash dip, Cacio e pepe, cedar plank salmon, fried chicken, rib eye, corn bread, brussel sprouts, glazed yams, and fries. There was not one thing I did not enjoy. The salmon was so moist, the fried chicken were boneless thighs that was a mix of sweet and savory, the rib eye was cooked to a medium rare and perfectly seasoned, and the cornbread was WOW! For dessert we ordered the chocolate mousse which was super rich- although delicious, definitely would need to share this with someone, the olive oil cake was citrusy, and my fave was the basque cheesecake. Drinks were good. Had the margarita and okay advice cocktail. Margarita was better than the cocktail which was very light and bubbly. I just prefer a stronger drink. Service was impeccable- very friendly staff. The ambiance was upscale but not stuffy- very nice place to catch up with friends. I apologize in advance. We had dinner at Yalla during our last visit to Portland and absolutely loved the food. We had a reservation and were seated quickly after we arrived. We got Fired Corn ribs to start. It was crispy and tasty, such a great start to our meal. We then got Lamb Ribs, Fried Chicken, Herbed Rigatoni, and Yellow Falafel. The Fried Chicken was delicious, very crispy, the honey with it was good addition to the fried chicken. The Herbed Rigatoni and Yellow Falafel were good. Both my friends sadly parked blocks away, but hey a little predinner waddle ever hurt anyone :P We were centrally inside Yalla and I loved the interior and ambience. It had a good bit of character and brightness which was nice. We were going for mostly family style dishes so lots of veggie items -- aka for my vegetarian self. We had the fries, cauliflower, corn ribs, falafel, seasonal pasta then my friends also split some fried chicken amongst themselves. I loved everything as expected but the pasta was definitely a show stopper for me. Would definitely get if I saw it on the menu. I also literally cannot resist ordering fries if they're on the menu and the cauliflower is a go to dish for me. All amazing. My friends enjoyed their fried chicken so kudos to delicious fried goods. Service was great and I did grab a giant box of ribs to take home for my husband who confirmed that they were AMAZING. A cute and charming neighborhood restaurant located near the Multnomah Village shops right off Capital Highway. I met a few friends for dinner and were seated right away even though our reservation wasn't for another 15 minutes. They have interior restaurant seating, back patio and outdoor pod seating on the sidewalk so definitely lots of options. I ordered the Lazer Mountain but subbed out with vodka vs mescal (do not like!!) and my girlfriend ordered the Beverly in Pink. The Lazer Mountain was too sweet for my taste and was a garrish blue color. My other girlfriend arrived late and ordered the same drink as me and hers came but will a glass full of ice, the liquid to ice ratio was so small that after two or three small sips she was done. We ordered the: Hummus with burnt beef ends and extra pita-delicious but a 1-2 burnt beef ends were 100% fat and not edible Sesame Goddess-needed more dressing as it lacked flavor, too bland for my taste Potato and Leeks-perfectly cooked and had a nice crispy outside but tender potatoe on the inside Roasted Cauliflower-loved the red sauce that it was paired with Ricotta Cavetelli-rich, dense and flavorful however the pasta was a little too Al dente for me Lamb and Beef Kabob-highlight of the meal however for the price, can we get two instead of one? I always try to be critical s and the only thing I could think of is that there may not be a bathroom accessible to folks in wheelchairs.
