Today we dined at Yamas after taking the Trolley Tour. We loved it. We enjoyed conversing with Jen, our server from Wisconsin. The manager and hostess made appearances at our table to be sure we enjoyed everything. We were very tempted by the Sunday Brunch menu. I'll admit I was salivating over it. For lunch today we started with the Greek Villages salad, which was a very nice fresh and colorful take on a traditional Greek salad. It was delicious. We also tried the Greek chicken and rice soup. It was not the thick and creamy avgolemeno I'm used to, but it was very nice and flavorful. I added a squeeze of lemon juice to make the flavors pop even more. I was excited to see Saganaki on the menu. It was even flamed table side by Jen. The frito misto was a crisp and light assortment of fish chunks, shrimp and calamari served with a green goddess sauce. It was not greasy. In fact, there weren't any grease puddles on the plate. Finally, we tried the lamb kofta souvlaki served with Greek fries, which I thought would have feta, but they had parm and it worked. I just wish the fries were a little more crisp. The lamb souvlaki was very flavorful and delicious with the spicy tzatzkiki. Don't worry, they have regular tzatzkiki, too. I wish we had room for dessert because the baklava sundae sounds amazing. We were really happy with our whole meal today. We enjoyed the atmosphere inside and the service couldn't be beat. We highly recommended it and look forward to going back to try even more dishes. Visited Yamas in The Villages and had a decent overall experience. The outdoor seating area is really nice and creates a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere--definitely the highlight of the visit. The food was okay, nothing that really stood out but still satisfying. Service started off fine, but toward the end it felt like we were forgotten by our waitress, which slowed things down and took away from the experience a bit. Overall, it's a pleasant spot for the ambiance, but there's some room for improvement in both food and service consistency. read more

Wonderful location for an outside bar. We have sat there twice. You can hear the music from the square as well as watch the dragon boats on the lake. The ceiling fans keep it cool. Bartenders have been friendly and helpful. My wife had a grouper sandwich our first visit. She found the fish moist and flavorful. Last night we ordered a mezze platter and the kitchen was happy to make a minor substitution. Beer selection is fine. The wine list has some unusual selections. My first ever Greek wine and I found it refreshing. We are ready to make this our Friday regular spot. read more

Excellent dinner last night at Yamas, with our family, for my husband's 80th birthday. While a thunder storm raging outside, we enjoyed a delicious meal, followed by an assortment of desserts. Best pork chops we have ever had! Our bartender and server, Laurie, went out of her way to make sure our evening was enjoyable. She is one of the best in the Villages. Ordered a dirty martini to which it is definitely watered down and took 20 minutes to get. Absolutely so sad because the location is perfect however the poor bartender is overwhelmed with two people at the bar and that's it. Food is subpar and very disappointing. Tried the saganaki appetizer, wagyu burger with fires,and the souvlaki chicken skewer. The burger was tasty and would recommend however the fries were served "heat lamp" warm and not fresh out of the deep frier as they should be at this price point. The chicken skewer is overpriced at $30 for 1 skewer with a few pieces of chicken and a 2nd skewer with only vegetables (they were warm and not grilled). The saganaki is served warm and not lit on fire unless you pay extra- does not make sense and is disappointing. The service is friendly yet lacking the polish you would expect when meals are close to $50 per person. The dishes and glasses were not removed in a timely manner and the check was handed as a piece of receipt paper and not delivered in a tray or folio. To shine the menu needs to include gyros and other traditional items. read more

1st Visit to Yamas, we are Villagers and so glad we stopped in for late lunch on Saturday. They were only serving off the Brunch Menu till 3:00PM which was fine because overall was a very good menu with breakfast and lunch items so worked out. The Mezze Sampler was excellent, all the greek dips, olives, feta chunks, pita, garlic crisps, fresh veggies and chicken, beef and lamb .... It was outstanding and the service was excellent. Homemade Red Sangria was very refreshing and not overly sweet at all which was how I like it. Overall, cant wait to go back and eat off Dinner Menu ! read more

Our first time visiting Yamas and vowed we will return. When we dine at a restaurant we pursue quality of food as the most important requirement. We ate saganaki, panini and gyro. All very tasty. But let me describe the most ubiquitous food on any menu that caught my tastebuds. I never purposefully order fries, ever, because of the inherent inconsistency from place to place. My parents and I came here on a Friday afternoon right as they opened. We highly recommend the Baked Feta dish and the Lemon Chicken soup (both were delicious). Our waitress was kind and attentive. Food was average. They had just opened so will give them another shot. We were 30 minutes early for our reservation so we asked if we could be seated early. Mind you there was only another couple sitting down. They told us they couldn't accommodate us that early and then asked us to wait outside. We were surprised since there was nobody sitting at the bar. Instead of telling us to wait outside how about recommending a drink at the bar. Just an idea. A light airy place in an excellent location. It has bar and both indoor and outdoor service. The wait staff was professional and attentive. The menu is limited in its offerings. The bar has a very adequate inventory of drafts and liquors. Sadly, the food failed. The "Greek" salad, while tasty, is as authentic as "My Fat Greek Wedding." It isn't substantial enough to be an entrée but split in two and recognized as a jazzed up side salad...it works. The burger is advertised as Wagyu. No, it is not. It is large and juicy but wildly oversalted. The accompanying fries did come out hot but they were low end bagged fries which were so oversalted as to make McD's seem bland. Brand new and my mom suggested I book this for my birthday in April. I made the invites but never even been there or saw it. Went for lunch today to test it out. We have kids coming so I was so happy to see they had a generic but perfect kids menu. The inside is beautiful, outside is stunning with amazing views. Now the food: tried the humus plate mind you I haven't really had Mediterranean food ever ; fantastic!! Then I tried a Chicken Gyro. I ate the whole thing and I can't eat much because of stomach issues. Holy moly I love this place and can't wait for my friends to try it on my bday. 9/10. Only reason it isn't a 10/10 is as a previous server I recognized some really weird and sometimes not appropriate things he was saying or not doing to tables. Maybe he's new and just awkward but I shouldn't have to ask for water when it's empty every single time and he shouldn't tell another table people are training that's why you're waiting. Special shout-out to Katy, the best server hands down -- she has personally selected my food three times now (appetizer, entrée, and dessert), and every single choice has been absolutely perfect. The food had mid-level taste. They have limited Greek menu options and the Pastitsio was served like spaghetti, not layered lasagna-ish at all. Staff was super friendly and attentive. Yum! Yamas has become one of my favorite restaurants in the Villages and we eat there often. Beautiful space and excellent service. We like to sit out on the patio and listen to the music in the square while we eat. You really can't go wrong with your order, but my favorites are the Mezze Platter or Saganaki to start and either the Village Greek Salad or the Falafel Pita for my main. Ambiance is great! The service was good and everyone was pleasant. My husband had a great wagyu burger. I have a Greek Salad at every restaurant we go to pretty much every time. The salad was excellent however the chicken was bland and rubbery. It definitely needed some Greek seasoning. I will definitely go back but may have the shrimp on the salad. read more

This restaurant is airy and comfortable inside and out, with decor that suits the Mediterranean theme. This was our third time eating at Yamas. While the menu is small it was easy to choose food that we were able to enjoy. The Chicken Oreganata and the Grouper sandwich were both amazing - great flavor, appropriate quantities, and every item on the plate complemented each other. Although it is a bit pricey, getting food this tasty and so well prepared makes it worth the splurge. Our waitress Carey was attentive, friendly, and made us feel welcome.
