The service was good, staff was friendly, and the ambiance is very casual. We ordered the rangoons and a special roll, which were okay. The prices were consistent with what you'll pay for sushi in Indianapolis, however, the quality seemed much lower. The presentation was good though. Overall, it's fine in a pinch, but I don't think it's worth the price based on my experience.

The friendship roll was really good! Spicy girl roll sadly had little to no flavor. I also got the lobster Rangoon, I was really excited about this but it was only cream cheese no lobster.

This is a pretty standard Japanese place. We shared a bento box and a few rolls. As a visitor from Silicon Valley, I would say this is about par with an average place there. That's impressive for a small town in Indiana. The beef teriyaki and the rice that came in the box weren't great on their own, but when mixed they complimented each other very well. Spring roll was nice and crispy. Soup was basically a spicy miso with some raw mushrooms added but a nice start to the meal. Philadelphia roll, california roll, and tuna/avocado roll were all fine; volcano roll had a spicy sauce (should have guessed from the name) and good outer crunchy texture. In short, nothing outstanding but nothing bad either. Great service!

Tried the Alaska Roll (cucumber, avocado, salmon) and Seafood Tempura Roll (fried white fish with Japanese spicy sauce) - both very tasty and filling, especially enjoyed the slight crunchiness of the fried fish. This was fourth or fifth visit. Always good food good service and nice variety.

I would recommend the Friend Roll (fried). It's delicious!

This place is a hidden gem. The sushi is fantastic. We really enjoy the quiet, family atmosphere.

Unfortunately, my most recent experience was not as positive, and I found myself disappointed--though not due to any major issues. When I arrived at 11 a.m., right as the restaurant opened, there seemed to be adequate staff and they certainly weren't too busy to pay attention to the two tables dining at the time. I have no issue with staff taking a moment to chat, but I wish they had focused a little more on the guests who were dining. We ordered green tea, which is served in a metal teapot. The protocol is that if one person orders it, they receive the teapot, and if two people order it, they get one teapot to share. However, what surprised me was that despite finishing our tea, no one came by to offer us a refill. It would have been nice for someone to ask if we wanted more, especially given that we had finished the first pot. I also ordered the vegetable udon, hoping for a flavorful dish filled with fresh vegetables. Sadly, when it arrived, it lacked any vegetables and was quite bland. The overall taste was underwhelming, which was disappointing, as I had expected better. I pushed the plate to the side, indicating that I wouldn't be eating it. No one noticed. My plate was hardly touched, and not once did any staff member, including what I presumed to be the manager based on his demeanor, come over to inquire about my meal. He passed by my table at least three times without asking if everything was okay. I would have appreciated the opportunity to provide feedback. While I must say that everything else I tasted, aside from the udon, was delicious, the lack of attention to detail--such as not offering a refill for my tea and not inquiring about my dining experience--left me feeling neglected. It was truly disappointing to leave with an untouched plate and not a single word from the staff addressing my concerns even after we declined the offer container to take home the meal.

Presentation is gorgeous, especially while dining at one of their tables. I especially love the avocado roll and the avocado peanut roll. I was happy to learn that the miso soup is completely vegan. I've enjoyed the vegetable tempura as well. The smaller portion is mostly sweet potato with a couple pieces of broccoli. On my most recent visit, I ordered the large entree sized tempura. While good, it too was heavy on the sweet potato but also included broccoli and asparagus. One piece of asparagus was too tough to chew, and I long for some mushrooms thrown in, but the tempura is very good overall. I'm not sure if I would get the tempura entree again as, while it includes miso soup and white rice (or fried, if you prefer), the salad that came with it wasn't anything to write home about. The side salad only consisted of chopped iceberg lettuce with a couple small pieces of cucumber, a thin half slice of tomato, and a dressing I didn't care for. I normally clean my plate, but I barely touched the salad. I don't remember the name of the imported beer I chose when I dined in. It was okay but a little too flowery for my taste. I'd definitely get something else next time. Prices are reasonable, and the menu is fairly large. I liked the atmosphere especially when I sat in one of their booths. I will most assuredly return as soon as I am able. I wish I lived a bit closer so I could have delivery whenever I get a taste for Japanese food. The only downside is that, though the particular dishes I get are filling, I'm very hungry again in a few hours. I may order extra to take home next time.

We decided on a a variety of dishes. We started with the scallops and steak, accompanied by a side of onion, and later opted for chicken and pork belly. The scallops were good. The steak was equally tasty. As for the onion, it was just an onion, nothing extraordinary. Unfortunately, the chicken didn't quite hit the mark for me, and the pork belly fell flat--it was simply unappetizing. However, the sauces were a highlight of the meal. The staff was more than generous, happily providing extra helpings of my favorites. The soy-based sauce stood out as particularly delicious, enhancing the flavors of our dishes. My husband, on the other hand, couldn't get enough of the hot sauce; he mentioned it was pleasantly flavorful without being overly fiery, making it just right for those who appreciate a touch of spice. We also shared the jalapeño tuna appetizer, which my husband declared to be the best he's ever tasted. While I found them delicious, I hesitated to agree with his exalted claim--there are many worthy contenders in my culinary adventures! The service was excellent, likely due to the lack of other diners. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, making it a lovely local spot to experience dining, especially the cooking your own food. We took our time, enjoying a couple of drinks and soaking in the sights of the street outside, and the approaching storm. All in all, it was a wonderfully leisurely meal, a nice departure from our usual rushed dinners. The restaurant offered a comfortable ambiance, and I would certainly return. While it may not crack my top five favorite dining spots, it's definitely nestled comfortably in the top 25 of restaurants I've enjoyed. This place is perfect for a relaxed date night, allowing you to savor the experience of cooking and enjoying great food at a leisurely pace.
