I was in Indy for a funeral and observed Lent fasting rules. I started with the salmon carpaccios and tempura app. Yummy fresh salmon and thr tempura was crispy and light. My mom came from Florida so she wanted something warm. So she got the miso Ramen. My sister got Ikura as an appetizer and house salad with ginger dressing. I had a great dinner here with my daughter. She had two sushi rolls and I ordered the teriyaki salmon. We started with soup and salad. She excitedly remarked that her miso didn't have any nori. She was relieved because she is not a fan, but seaweed lovers may be disappointed. My salad was beautifully plated with a sprinkling of sesame seeds on the dressing. Unfortunately, the ginger dressing was not as sweet/savory as I am used to; I found it quite bitter and didn't eat most of it. The entrees were great. My salmon was perfectly cooked with tons of sauteed onions and plenty of teriyaki sauce. The timing was done well, with my kiddo's roll coming to the table along with my entree. After wolfing down a Godzilla roll, she ordered a Philly roll. It was promptly made and she didn't have to wait long. Service was quick and friendly. The restaurant is small and cozy with simple, clean decor. One small area for improvement - I wish they would cut their rolls into smaller pieces. It's Friday, I'm in love ... with Minazuki Sushi Bar's onigiri. It is the best thing I've eaten in a long time. The onigiri is a handheld little treasure triangle of rice that's warm, slightly sweet from the sweet potato, briny from the nori, and crispy from bits of tempura. It's the best and so comforting to eat. If you get it to go, like I did, it also comes in a cute wrapper. I ended up at Minazuki Sushi Bar because one of my children wanted sushi for dinner. Well, he wanted a California Roll. I really wanted a Godzilla Roll, because I've never had one but read that they are good. Minazuki has Godzilla Rolls, and they sprinkle caviar on them. Mamma mia! The Godzilla Roll was the second best thing I've eaten in a while. I bet it would have tasted even more amazing if I had eaten it at the restaurant. Next time. Nevertheless, my kid and I enjoyed our rolls and onigiri. Actually, I know everything would have tasted better at the restaurant because they make the rolls to order. There's a bar that you can sit at in the dining room and watch a guy make everything. (That's what I did as I waited for my to-go order.) It was cool to see him patting sticky rice down and adding fish and vegetables and other things, then rolling everything up. Some other reviews call Minazuki Sushi Bar a hidden gem, and I think that's true. This sushi restaurant is in a nondescript strip mall off of I-465, which also houses an Arabic barber shop, a massage joint and a liquor store. It's not a spot that I would think would have excellent Japanese food, so it's a wonderful surprise. read more

Minazuka Sushi Bar celebrated its grand opening a little over a month ago in a little strip mall near 421 and US 465. The dining room is upscale and lovely with pastel Japanese kimonos and pink cherry blossoms decorating the walls. There is a mix of booths and tables and a small sushi bar in the back. Gentle Asian music plays in the background. Our server was charming and friendly. She brought water, checked on us and food came out quickly. For lunch, we each had two sushi rolls and salad. The salad is large with the most incredible freshly made mango dressing. The spicy crab roll was creamy and tasty. I loved the shrimp tempura roll, which was filled with four large shrimp, lots of cucumber and a sweet sauce. My lunch was delicious and filling. Prices are very reasonable. They have applied for a liquor license to serve beer, wine and saki. The parking lot can be challenging to get in and out. I highly recommend and will return soon. read more

Great new sushi restaurant! My buddy and I had a few specialty rolls and hand rolls, and all the food was awesome. This included dragon roll, soft shell crab, and salmon avocado hand roll. They also have a hand roll with apple and salmon (New York?) - my friend really liked it (as well as his other roll). All the rolls weren't overloaded with rice, had solid portions, nice presentation, and proper temperature. Plus, our server was super friendly and attentive. On top of all that it wasn't too expensive and they even offered a discount because of the grand opening. Highly recommend! read more

Minazuki Sushi is a real find. We'd noticed their Grand Opening in Summer 2024, and forgot to check it out. Our loss, as we could have been going to Minazuki for great lunch deals and delicious suppers. Last week we finally got there for a v early dinner, and WOW, was it good. REALLY good. One of our party went back for lunch two days later, and exclaimed he was going to find it a challenge to not visit Minazuki several times a week. For our first dinner: To start, we had the 'fried aged tofu', which was cooked perfectly -- a nice thin crust coating (and one could tell that it had been fried in fresh oil; a delicate flavor) some of the silkiest, softest, and definitely freshest tofu we've tasted in decades. Then it was on to sushi rolls and chicken teriyaki for the non-raw-fish diner. (Our teriyaki loving youngster said it was the best he'd tasted since he'd discovered chicken teriyaki. He even ate all of the vegetables that came with.) We tried both the miso soup, which was fresh and tasty, and the salad. Salad had a slightly different ginger dressing than usually found -- delicious, and neither starter was (thank goodness) overly salty. None of their food was over salted, in fact. We ordered a variety of sushi rolls, planning on taking home some of the types that travel well. But it was SO good, we ate almost all of it (and had only a few pieces for a later snack), and had to sit for a while to digest before heading home. Check out the menu to find your favorite items in the maki rolls or fancier rolls and feel confident -- this place serves some of the most delicious sushi and sashimi on the north side and north suburbs. The presentation is beautiful -- the sushi chef is a master. The flavors, the freshness and high quality, were obvious, and Minazuki is NOT expensive for such very very good sushi and sashimi. Went for the soft opening on 7/16 with my husband and mom. We were very pleasantly surprised! We had a very warm welcome from the staff. The decor and music were nice. The restaurant was bright and clean. Drinks were on our table within just a few minutes. We ordered salad, gyoza, 5 sushi rolls, and a sashimi combo platter. All the food came out pretty quickly. This was the freshest sushi I've ever had in Indy, and it was so delicious! This is a bit of a drive for me (45 minutes) but we will definitely be back to try other items on the menu! read more
