This is my favorite place to go get a massage. Very professional and the best massage therapists. I like to get 90 mins full body, the 90 min foot reflexology is also good but do the excellent prices, best to go full body. My friends love doing the four hand massage. I like to do girls gathering"spa day" here once a year while we all get massages at the same time then walk around downtown and grab lunch, Really, you can't go wrong. It's a gem of a place with great owners. I see some negative comments about tips, but it makes me appreciate the owner more for speaking up for fair tips and advocating for their staff. Let me start with that my massage was amazing, the atmosphere was relaxing professional very clean. Why not a 4 or 5 ? The lady in front is cold very cold, pushy and uncomfortably direct. They ask how much to tip which you shouldn't ask, should give receipt to decide how much willingly want to tip. Isn't that what a tip is? The lady in front points to a sign saying basically what we must tip through her nonverbal manners. I was coerced to giving more than I wanted because it was what was "recommended." I even think my therapist deserved what she wanted me to give but it was the approach ! I even asked her name so I can come back and request her because every therapist is very different and I would want to come for the same therapist and would go out of my way to fit her schedule but "they don't give out names, you get who you get." I only came here because I had a gift card and came from Hercules. I would only come back if I could get the same therapist and not have to deal with that lady in front. They all deserve the price they want but just set it at that price don't coerce a customer to "tipping" your minimum "recommendation." Set your prices with what you want minimally because the quality and service matches and just get rid of tipping altogether so a customer does not feel coerced and unsatisfied leaving. read more

I try to be understanding, especially when there may be a language barrier. However, I have concerns about how this business handles tipping expectations. The massage itself was excellent. In fact, I was so happy with my therapist that I thought I would likely become a regular customer and come in at least twice a month since I work on my feet all day. I tipped over 20%, which I felt was a generous tip for the service I received. However, after paying, I was directed to a sign suggesting that I should have tipped $20 and was encouraged to leave an additional $5 to bring the tip up to that amount. Not only did this feel uncomfortable, but it also felt like I was being shamed for not tipping enough, even though I had already tipped more than 20%, which most people would consider a standard and fair tip for good service. It's not that the therapist wasn't deserving of an extra few dollars--it's the way the expectation was communicated that rubbed me the wrong way. If the business wants to guarantee employees a certain level of compensation, that should be built into the service price rather than relying on customers to meet a specific tip amount. My suggestion would be to eliminate tipping altogether and simply advertise the true price of the service upfront. For example, if the goal is for the therapist to receive an additional $20 per massage, then charge $80 for the massage and clearly state that gratuity is included. This creates transparency, eliminates awkward tipping conversations, guarantees fair compensation for therapists, and ensures customers know exactly what to expect with no surprises. With how the situation was handled, I'm questioning whether the employee is actually receiving the full tip amount. Massage is always 5 stars. No matter who I get, it's always amazing. The place is very clean and the masseuses are always professional. To confirm what's been said here in the comments, they ask for a $20 tip every time - which no one likes. But I bring exactly enough cash to pay a $15+ tip on a one hour massage. I pay more if it deserves it. Also, if you want to save your money, pay with cash. They charge an extra $10 to pay with a credit card for a 90-minute massage and $5 extra to pay with a credit card for an hour massage. The $10 for a credit card doesn't make sense - so I pay cash when I can. read more

First impression of this place was really nice. Quiet and relaxing. I like how much detail they put into their decor along with the cute hearts in the paper towels covering the pillows. The massage was good with prefect pressure to work out my knots but kept it comfortable as well. If paying in cash they give a slight discount vs. paying with card. I got the 90 minute body massage cash $110 vs card $120. We decided to pay cash, I tried to offer $23 cash for tip but the lady returned saying oh we recommend $30 for tip. I found this to be very distasteful to recommend a certain amount of a tip, if there is a requirement then it should be included in the price. The massage was good so I did pay the $30, but I was uncomfortable with feeling bullied and pressured to tip a specific amount. While I was happy to provide a tip, I believe tipping should be a voluntary gesture of appreciation rather than something that is expected or required. Since I was very pleased with the massage, I asked the front desk for the masseuse's name so that I could request him again in the future. I was told that they do not provide the names of their massage therapists, although I was informed that there are only two male masseuses. I found this policy somewhat unusual, especially since I was being encouraged to leave a specific tip amount and had already determined that I enjoyed the service provided by this particular therapist. It would seem reasonable to allow guests to know the therapist's name so they can request the same person for future appointments if they choose. I will not return for more services at this establishment. Went here for a post Mother's Day spa visit with my girlfriend and overall we had a great experience. The 90-minute massage was honestly 10/10 relaxing, professional, and exactly what we needed. The only thing that rubbed me the wrong way was the tipping conversation at the front desk afterward. We were told they "get $30 tips," which came out to about 25% of what we paid. I don't mind tipping for good service, but I do think expectations like that should be clearly communicated on the website or during booking so customers aren't caught off guard at checkout. I am only writing this review just so other people won't experience what my husband and I did on our recent visit. Each room is being divided by halfway wall, so whatever happens in the other rooms with other clients like loud snoring, very weird and uncomfortable noises as other clients are getting a massage.... Talking and laughing in the hallway) you will hear . It was so hard for me to stay focused and relax. The worst part is the girl YAN is having fun with this situation and laugh about . I have never seen such a rude and unprofessional with an aggressive behavior in my life. She is asking aggressively to sell you 90 minutes massage so she can charge you 30$ tips. Unbelievable how rude this woman was. She was literally making fun of me because I was about to leave the room because of all horrible sounds that client was making fun. Highly recommendable. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance creates a strong sense of relaxation. I've been to both locations, and the experience has been consistent. The massage therapists are worth every penny. However, my concern is with the woman at the front desk. I'm surprised her business practices have not been reported to the City of Benicia or the state. I enjoy the services so much that I even purchased the buy-10-get-1-free package (after my chiropractor recommended this place following a car accident). I came in on short notice on a Friday night and they were very accommodating, which I appreciated. I booked a 60min 4-hands massage with 2 female massage therapists and it was honestly one of the best massages I've had. The therapists flowed really well together (like choreography), the pressure was perfect, and the hot stones felt amazing. Before I retired, I was a massage therapist. So, you know, I was judging every move the MT made during my first massage here. And they did everything right! They are very professional and appropriate! The hot rock massage is the best! I got a full body massage cause our bodies need the full treatment at least once a month so we have good circulation and then good health. I read the reviews here and want to say: they don't want to give you the name of the MT because they want all MTs to give the same treatment. I've had a massage from 2 different MTs there are they are both incredible! Also, they don't want to overwork just one of the MTs. Which ever MT you get, you won't be sorry. Its worth it! This is my 3rd time coming here, always for a 90 min massage, they always get me in last minute, and I've had a great massage every time. The woman (owner?) at the front can be intense, but I feel like she just runs a really tight ship, and once I got used to that, it doesn't bother me anymore. She always asks what my expectations are, how hard a massage I want, how long on each body part, etc. it's very clean, the ambience is great. I come on off hours and every once in a while I can hear a little talking, but nothing to ruin my experience. They take walk-ins, but I would call just in case.  Their decor is tranquil. I love the live art with a waterfall. Even the restroom is relaxing. They give a mini bottle of water afterwards. I usually get a deep tissue massage. So far, each session has been good. Let them know if you want them to adjust the pressure. Always drink lots of water after getting a massage. There is a lot of different massage places in Benicia to go and it's probably a better idea to go to them instead of this particular parlor cause the lady at the front desk of Yan Spa #1 is very very SHADY and RUDE...! I went to the smaller Yan Spa #2 (1 block away) a month ago for my birthday and had a wonderful experience the gentleman at the front desk was amazing and the massage was fantastic in fact my daughter got me a gift certificate for 1 hour massage to go back on Father's Day so I finally got a chance to use it and boy did I regret going in to the Yan Spa #1 which I was kinda made to go there by telling me there was no availability at the Yan Spa #2 anyway the whole experience was a fiasco the lady at the front desk was very pushy to sell the 4 hand massage and when I disagreed she got upset but I did add on the 30 min foot massage. The massage was horrible and waaaay to hard and when I told the masseuse she's to strong she said "Thank you" maybe it was the language barrier but she was actually causing me pain and I was apparently making to much noises cause the lady at the front desk stormed in the room and told me to be quiet in a very very rude manner so when the massage was done I went to pay and to be honest I did not want to give any type of tip but I did give $20 anyways and the front desk lady kept insisting on $30 tip and was being ultra rude about it so when I told her why she told me to leave so I left and told her because of her I will never come back. So now it's been almost 5 days ago and I've basically been bed ridden since the massage until today I'm bruised in areas and finally starting to feel less sore and get back to life. She told me it was $50 for 30 minutes...tried to upsell me on an hour but I just needed a quick massage on my neck...went to pay and she says $55. I assumed she was including a tip. They offer to pay with cash app so I did that since it seems they want you to pay with cash. Then she starts rudely asking for a tip and saying she'll tell the guy I didn't like the massage. I told her I thought the $5 was the tip? Then she says I'm paying with a credit card so it's $55...cash app is not a credit card, it's the same as transferring cash! Service requested- foot massage I was talked into getting back and foot massage (only the men do foot massage and they won't be available for another 2 hours). I feel like they play games. Anywho I agreed to both. Upon leaving when I left a 15% tip, she pointed to the "karma board" that I should do $20 each which would be 30% each. I tend to think of things on a sliding scale - i.e. value for money and all that. So when my boyfriend and I decided to get a last minute couples massage, and Yan could take us, we were excited. We asked for 60 minutes and immediately, the owner / receptionist tried to upsell us. She asked if we wanted 90 minutes, and despite us saying no thank you, she asked two more times (a bit annoying). The experience itself was fine/good, and overall a good value at $130 for two people for a full hour. The room looked clean and the ambiance was fine as well and we couldn't hear any noise. My boyfriend said that his massage started out a little uncomfortable, but got better, and mine was mostly good as well. When we were done and went to pay, there was a note to tip $10 for an hour of service for good karma. So when asked to add a tip, I said, of course, add $20. At which point, the receptionist / owner stated that usually for good service for an hour, people tip $20, and if we felt it was good, we should do that. I mean, that's fine, but still felt really really awkward. The stars are for the massage, if that was bad it would get 1 star... sadly the receptionist left me not wanting to come back here. After my hour massage ($100) I was pulling out cash for tip and paying with a card. She told me that my tip wasn't enough and the minimum Amount I should leave is $30 for gratuity and she will add more charge to my credit card payment. I said not to add more and replied "25%" and she said no the minimum for tips should Be $30. I was appalled and shocked. Gratuity is not mandatory as I try to tip as much as I can. She tried adding more money on my bill and if I didn't stop her she would have. (I had more cash and I did add more tip but am now thinking I should have said reasons why I wasn't go in to tip more.) The company raised the prices (I get that as businesses cost money to run) but why not automatically include gratuity in cost listed, if you are going to shame people for leaving what they can. read more
