We were super new to owning a boat. Although I'd driven many, I'd never been an owner, but this summer my wife and I decided that it was the summer to look into ownership and take advantage of all that Lake George had to offer. We went to many private owners and dealerships that sold old and new boats in the Lake George area, but when we entered Yankee Boating, being greeted by Brian MacDuff (Sales Manager), right away we felt like VIPs and Brian's attention to detail and to our needs as new boat owners was just incredible. What's more amazing is that, although we ended up purchasing a used boat from Yankee, Brian never let up on his attention to detail and personal touch, and made sure we left Yankee with an amazing 2014 Monetary 204 FS. This has been an incredible experience that I know we would not have found anywhere else. It doesn't stop there; the entire team at Yankee Boating continued our amazing experience. Whether it was Kate in service preparing our boat to be in tip top shape, or Nino at the Yankee Marina who went above and beyond to assist us in a moment of need, each part of the Yankee family provided us with an experience second to none. The bottom line is that Yankee has proven to be, without a doubt, the total boating experience. If you are in the market for a new or used boat, definitely go to Yankee. Don't even bother with the other shops; I promise you that you won't get the experience and quality that Yankee Boating has to offer. The tube that they provide was broken when we realize that we already were in the middle of the water . When we came back and we told them they didn't accept it even though we paid for it we had to deal with a broken tube. We couldn't enjoy our tubing.since one of the Handel was broken.they even didn't give us a refund for that. read more

This place is nothing but a bait and switch! I purchased a Monterey M6 which by the way has been turning out to be nothing but garbage! Do not buy a Monterey product. They will not warranty anything and utilize more fine print than you can imagine. I was sold this boat with a 7 year bow to stern warranty which I was told covered everything for 7 years. Being new to boating I trusted the Brodies (Owners of Yankee Boating) First they ordered me the wrong boat! Interior wrong, helm wrong, all electronics wrong. Mind you it was delivered begging of boating season so obviously not being happy I didn't want the wrong boat, the deal was I would sign papers on this boat start making payments and use it and they would order the new one for the next year! Next year comes new boat is late and in the body shop for a problem with the decals. Get the boat first couple years are ok little issues become bigger issues but I don't want to be without boat till end of the season so I compile all issues after 4yrs and in October 2024 contact Josh In The service dept and says send me pics I will contact Monterey and we will take care of issues. So after 5 months of no communication I called and he said we haven't heard back I'll call you Monday (3days later) and of course nothing. So 2 weeks later I go in and Charlie who was not very nice either I think because I bothered him on lunch said Josh was on lunch looked it up and said I don't see anything he will call you today I promise.lol Yeah a week and a half later Josh calls me and says all warranty has been declined there is nothing we can do!! Not happy I say have Andrew Brodie call me (the owner). In the mean time I call Monterey and the guy says none of these thing are covered and the 7 year total warranty was nothing what I was sold when I bought the boat! Here are issues. Sea Deck is pulling up everywhere, all of the hinges on everything that opens on the boat are litterally falling apart. Gel coat is cracking everywhere! And the 5k touchscreen helm option is delaminating and coming apart. It clearly says on the bs 7 yr warranty and issues w engine instrumentation is covered. He said well I was the one who declined warranty and Yankee never even sent pictures of the screen! I said well I have them I will send them to you and he would not take them from me said they had to come from dealer. He then asked if it worked I said yes but falling apart and I have to keep it covered so it doesn't get wet and he said well it works so not warranting it. So obviously frustrated I hang up and wait for Andrew Brodie to call me because to this point thought we had a great relationship in me buying a over $100k bought and paying it right off, he will surely take care of this situation. Get the call from him days later and he says well warranty is black and white nothing that we could do!?!? What???? You and your brother told me this 7 yr warranty covered everything!!! He says no not everything then the slime ball salesmen the REAL Andrew Brodie comes out and starts reading all the fine print and picks the warranty claim apart and I say this has been going on for years and when I called service to complain was told compile the problems we will take care of it over winter here we are because all of the fine print warranty has passed. So bottom line in my dealings with Yankee Boating,Monterey, and Andrew Brodie watch out he is that slimy used car salesmen that your parents warned you about when you were a kid selling you a Monterey product that truly is garbage and both him and the manufacturer know it and run the fine print game better than anyone in the business! read more

I left traumatized and will never get on another boat again. Make sure you bring a bucket to bail the water out. Now looking back there were signs all over saying bad idea, starting at the terrible counter service. We called the day prior asking about renting a 10 passenger pontoon, lady said sure no problem we always keep a few extra on hand for walk ins. We did not want to reserve because we were unsure of the weather and rain. Forecast said no rain we decided to go out. We get there and the front desk says no 10 passenger we can either do a 13 for extra cost or 8 passenger deck boat. We discuss and decide the 13 passenger. At the desk now the woman says , in a span of less than five minutes the other counter girl allows some one with a reservation to change their reservation to the 13 passenger and rents that out to them. Okay so now we have no choice but to get the 8 passenger as grey clouds are rolling in. We ask the older front desk woman if it's okay to go out, have you checked the weather. Her response, no, you'll be fine no worries. Gives us a map thoroughly explains where to go, where we can anchor etc. We get told to go wait out on the deck and someone will help us. The waters choppy and boats swaying. A young maybe 16 year old girl gives us a quick lesson on how to turn on the boat, steering, reverse and where the life jackets are. First attempt to throttle the boat wouldn't move, made several attempts and the girl giggled and pushed us out. Now we are out, in this boat choppy water. 2-3 foot chop if not more. It was like the little engine that could struggling just to maintain direction. It was almost impossible to steer and would not go more than 5 knots full throttle. Less than a half hour out and us just struggling, the boat began filling with water. We pulled open the base cabin that contained the life jackets and it too was also flooded. BY PURE LUCK we screamed over to 2 coast guard friends on a jet ski. She hopped on our boat, and put 2 other people on the jet ski. Literally taxied people to the dock and came back for more to lighten the load on the boat. She attempted to turn on what ever pump is underneath a boat to help push out water and it did not work. Now with the wind whipping and waves crashing on this boat that can hardly run, she drove it back maybe another 200 Yards to the dock as it swung wildly in the water. The the dock children laughed as she attempted to pull it up (literally kids running the dock). One of the workers opened a compartment by the engine and just shook his head. They asked if we wanted another boat. Is that a joke. It was like a movie scene from the end of jaws where it's just floating items all over in the bottom of the boat. I had an adrenaline rush/panic attack, can't even describe it, that I would never want to experience again. My Coastie friend watched as they pulled the boat out. She said they never put the plugs back on the boat so essentially from the time we got on the boat, we were sitting ducks, sinking, she said maybe a half hour left before the boat sank. They at first attempted to tell us well you were at max capacity that doesn't mean anything, you put us on that boat and said it was okay and safe to go out. It was by no means safe, the life jackets were from the 90's literally. When they pulled the boat out of the water and it drained for over 25 minutes. They refunded our money as they continued to put other people out on the water. During our struggle to come in we saw a pontoon boat almost flip from a wave, irony the people that got the 13 passenger. We filed a police report. There has to be some kind of standard. This is not it. What I learned later, from one of my friends a reporter from Albany was that people consistently die on Lake George from boating accidents. That could have been us. First time in Lake George, I had this fancy idea to relax on the water. Worlds dumbest idea as well a paper map... on a wet boat. Smh. read more

My family and I planned a trip to Lake George and when we arrived we immediately decided to rent a boat. We wanted a fishing boat and also wanted one that could tow an Airhead Tube. We called around to a couple of different marinas the night before and decided on Yankee because the full day rate was great at $410 for a full day and $30 for tube rental. Yankee also had a boat that fit 4-5 people with a 90 horse power motor which is appropriate for fishing and tubing. The woman that helped us on the phone was very kind and both her and her daughter reserved a bit without a card, the same morning we picked it up. They were very busy and when we arrived at 10:30 am we found out that we got the last boat. Several pontoon boats had already been rented and although the place was slammed, the staff was extremely patient and showed us a map with areas to fish and to dock up. The boat was very fast and in great shape. We used it from 11 am to 5 Pm and we used 5 gallons of gas during that period, which cost an extra $40 when the day was over. So the total day was $480, and we had an amazing time. We caught fish, went tubing and it was a blast. read more

What a difference attitude makes. Last year we had a horrible experience with incredibly mean, rude and crude marina management (Lyin' Tony at Chic's Marina) on Lake George, but the experience at Yankee Boating couldn't have been better! Nice people, efficient service and much, much better boats. Lake George is beautiful, but any excursion can be spoiled by nasty people. The good folks at Yankee don't start you off with belligerent tirades. Plus, parking is right on the premises and not across a busy highway like at Chic's. We highly recommend! read more

My third review of Yankee. Been renting there for just about 10 years now. A complete turnaround from the "off" experience I had over 4 years ago. Top notch across the board. ALL of the staff were lovely. They even greet you by name both coming and going. The pontoon boats are in phenomenal shape. I've rented the: -60 HP Pontoon. A little under powered in my opinion but great for beginner boater. Excellent fuel economy. -150 HP Pontoon. Suuuper fast. Great if you are going to fill it up with 12+ people. Overkill for just a couple people. Guzzles fuel. But a lot of fun. -115 HP Pontoon. I think this one is just right. Enough power to buzz up and down the lake even with 7 adults and provisions on board. Fuel efficient enough to not be at the fuel dock daily. -Deck boats. Great if you really want to tube/ski behind it. Plenty fast. Decent amount of space. But if you're more the cruise in comfort type, the Pontoon is the way to go. Cuts though the chop way better than a flat bottom deck boat. Overall, skip Chics and the overpriced places down by LG Village. Yankee is absolutely the place to go. Looking forward to 10 more years of renting there. read more

I don't think Yankee could have been more thorough with the process from reservation, communication, rental, to return. As a Marine Coordinator I deff appreciate businesses that understand the issues that are indigous with working on/in/around the water. especially when a majority of their clientele are Not. We've rented boats from Yankee for a few years now, and use them for camping on the Lake George Islands. The boats are excellent and definitely add to the experience of camping on the lake. They also provide amazing service as we're shuttling back and forth between the island and their docks, giving us one less thing to worry about. I've been renting boats from the Yankee Boating Center every year for the past 5 years. When I visit Lake George with my entire family (all 17 of us) each year for our summer vacation, the high point of our visit is boating on the lake. Fishing, tubing, water skiing and sight seeing are absolutely awesome on the lake, but you need a good boat to do these things. That's why I rent a 20 foot Bow Rider from Yankee for the week that I'm there. I have 9 grandchildren and they all can't wait for their boating trips each day, in shifts of course. I've been teaching them how to drive, so they'll all be future Yankee customers. The rentals are always relatively new boats that are extremely reliable. I've never had a problem with any rental. When I leave Lake George, I always reserve next year's boat with Yankee so I'll be sure to have exactly what I want. read more

Be aware!! These people will rip you off if you are not smart enough. After my 2 hour rental (no docking any where) they told I broke the complete fin off. I highlighted the missing fin before the rental and they told its normal. After my request, they marked that on paper. This boat rental place cannot be beat! We wanted to take a boat out and visited Yankee Boating because of the positive reviews. Yelp does not lie! We had stopped by Captain Bob's and were sketched out by the lack of friendliness and my husband had the feeling Bob's is the place where they try to charge exorbitant costs on the back-end. Captain Bob's daughter Christina greeted us with, "If you rent a boat and it's damaged by the waves, we will charge you." She said that three times when we arrived and it made us suspicious. We shopped around a bit gathering boating information in Lake George, and after our assessment of the options, were lucky enough to book a boat rental will Yankee. Sarah helped get us registered and was AMAZING! Super-friendly, informative, and she provided us with a map of the lake and circled different hot spots for swimming and cliff-jumping. We rented a pontoon boat for nine of us but it could've fit twelve. Andrew was so nice and set us up with a quick tutorial and setup. He even inflated an inner tube for us that we brought. He noted the condition of the pontoon blades and boat and we felt comfortable we wouldn't have any erroneous charges (unlike Captain Bob's). There were a lot of different styles and sizes of boats to choose from as well. While on the water, we saw a few really fancy boats that were Yankee rentals. The boating experience was absolutely perfect and we will be renting from them on all future trips. We got a killer deal for renting a boat half of a day, and Yankee was the least costly, best value and service --we recommend them to anyone interested in renting a boat for their Lake George adventures. Plus, five stars for saving me major moolah because my husband has been talking about buying a boat for years. What an amazing boating center! I went to Lake George with my family of four and we all wanted to rent a boat on the lake. While browsing through a few different boat rentals we decided this place would be the best. We didn't want a pontoon boat which seemed to be popular in the area because we wanted to tube. When we called up the morning we wanted to go they told us they only had one boat left. They also told us we could rent a tube out for the day. We decided to ask them to reserve the boat for us and we would be there soon. My family and I were nervous they wouldn't reserve it, but they did! The people working there were so nice and gave us a map of the lake and its activities. They let us look at the boat before we rented it, and explained how to use it. For the last boat left it was pretty nice. Once we took off we had no problem and had a fun day of tubing, fishing, and swimming! read more

We usually rent a couple of boats from them every year at the end of the summer busy season and cruise around back and forth between Long Island in Lake George. The boats are always in good condition and the staff is very courteous and accommodating. I am in my 5th year as a customer of Yankee Marina and only have good things to say about the quality of the boats and service of the staff. They have always been very accommodating to our large (50 person) group and especially cheerful given it's inherent challenges. I believe all the rental boats were replaced this year, and we fully enjoyed them during our annual 6 day stay on the lake. This year we were unlucky enough to run out of gas in the middle of the lake, but thanks to the fully stocked emergency kit on board were able to flag down help with little issue. The staff were also very kind about receiving a package on our behalf in the middle of our stay/boat rental and notified us once it arrived at the marina. Like most people I don't like to wait. I've heard nightmare stories about boat rentals on Lake George, and having to get in line early and wait a long time to be taken care of. In this case, my wife called about 5 days in advance, made an all day reservation for Saturday and Sunday, and she paid in full over the phone. When we got to the marina at 8:30 we watched a 5 minute video while the staff processed paperwork. We were on the water by 9:00. The process was quick and efficient and the people working there were awesome. Cassie gave me directions on how to operate the boat, and off we went. I've never had such an easy painless time renting a vehicle in my life. On Saturday night, we docked the boat back at Yankee Marina. Cassie, asked if I wanted the boat gassed up for Sunday. Overnight they gassed up the boat and it was clean and ready to go early Sunday morning. When we got back on Sunday around 5:30 to return the boat, we just handed over the keys and walked away. All of the billing was taken care of without having to wait one minute and charged to my card. I can't say enough good things about the people at this marina. read more

We had a good experience as far as boating and prices go however when it comes to putting the deposit down, don't plan on seeing that $500 for the rest of your vacation!!! We were told the deposit would be released at midnight of that night by one of there employees but found it was still pending the following morning. We ran around phone call to phone call trying to figure it out all to find out it could take up to 2 weeks to clear. read more

We had great time on the boat, it was wonderful sunny day. But we got a few issues: our radio didn't work, so this was a bit disappointment for us. But the major problem was when we dock back to the place, we been told that we were missing part from propeller, and repair was $100. But the funny think was that besides us at the same time was 2 more customers with exact the same problem and the stuff used same words to describe an issue. So here is advice: if you will decide to rent boat over here( not the cheapest one on the lake) make sure you will take picture of propeller and everything else as well before you will dock out. For us probably this place will never work again but for you guys GOOD LUCK!!!! read more

We had a horrendous experience renting a boat from Yankee! We rented the 15' Daysailor (sailboat) for 1/2 day (8:30-12:30). While we knew that they had a no refund policy, we hadn't actually considered the fact that no refunds would also apply to terrible weather. As you would guess, the day of our sailing adventure offered rain AND no wind! We had expected they would offer a credit (again aware of no refunds) so that we could take up sailing under more preferable weather conditions. Unfortunately, we were told the boat was ours from 8:30-12:30 regardless of weather so we could either go out in the rain OR hope it clears up before 12:30. Eventually the rain let up and we decided to take out the boat for the little time we had left. Just when we thought our luck was changing, it took a drastic turn for the worse. We had about 30 minutes of enjoyable sailing before we realized the jib (front sail) was jammed. Not a big deal, we can sail with just the main sail so we weren't too concerned. After a while we decided to head back which was when we discovered the engine didn't work. After realizing we would have to attempt to sail back to shore, we tried putting the main sail back up which had also completely jammed. We were stuck, in the middle of the lake, without either sail OR an engine! AND of course, the sky is now black and it is now pouring! We should have been able to use any of the 5 different pieces of emergency equipment that we were told were on the boat (everything from flares to flags). You guessed it- NO EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT! We managed to flag someone down and sent them back to Yankee asking that they send someone to get us. After 30 minutes, still no rescue, and pouring rain we managed to float into a marina a mile down the lake. 1 1/2 hours and 3 phone calls later, we are FINALLY rescued! No one from the rental office seemed too concerned nor did they offer ANY type of refund! Again, all charges are final and there are NO REFUNDS despite: broken sails, broken engine, no emergency equipment, and 1 1/2 os sitting in the rain waiting to be rescued. Customer service AND equipment from Yankee Boating were both terrible and we would advice anyone interested in renting a boat to try out any of the other wonderful rental spots on Lake George! read more

Its late, "W", as his friends call him, had called every boat rental company from Ticonderoga to Yorktown without success. At the 11th hour, COL Daniel D. Lewis bravely volunteered his boat company for the job. Thanks to Yankee boat rentals, who provided the vessels to transport the colonists to Trenton, the Americans were able to slay the savage German miscreants and turn the tide of the war. I was very disappointed with this company. No boats available when we arrived on Labor Day weekend. OK, that might be understandable, but the "staff" behind the desk, who consisted of two young girls and a boy, couldn't answer any questions. They weren't sure when a boat would be available, what kind of boat would be available, cost, fees, etc. They said they have to make calls. It was mind boggling. You could put cardboard cutouts of people behind the desk and you would get better results and save money. We ended up going to another boat rental place not far away and plenty of boats were available, even on the holiday weekend! This place really needs to make some changes. My family decided to rent a deck boat from the Yankee Marina for four days of our week long vacation in Lake George. We went to the dock on the day of our rental and the staff was friendly and very helpful in getting us boating rookies out on the lake. We came back once during our rental to get gas because they has the best prices on the lake. Filling up was just as easy and the staff was just as friendly. When we returned the boat they were quick about getting us squared away and back to our vacation. Overall great experience. We will definitely be renting from them again next year. read more
