Someone put something in my drink one night while I was here. Later when I went back I asked if I could keep it close to me by my seat because I was uncomfortable leaving it unattended. The staff was extremely rude and inconsiderate when I asked for the accommodation. I understand maintaining guidelines for the establishment, but they should be flexible and care about their customers saftey and comfortability. It's a great place to bowl and has a good atmosphere just wish they would have handled this differently. read more

Legit bowling alley! Coming from Massachusetts--where there are very few *good* bowling alleys, this place is my go-to for both casual/fun bowling as well as fun leagues. Everyone is friendly there and the prices are great compared to Boston. No gimmicks, no BS. read more

Before coming here, this place had all of 6 photos. And out of 22 reviews prior to the time of posting this one, it seems like people either really love or really hate this place. But I don't really feel either of those things. I think....this is a bowling alley. That exists. That's it. There is nothing remarkable about this location, its decorum or layout, nor least of all...the food. To me, they're just kinda 'meh'. Here's why.. So, they've got all the usual stuff; full selection of bowling balls by weight and color, a generous selection of bowling shoe sizes, an arcade room, and a separate bar area for all the grown folk who get tired of watching their kids throw gutter balls all day. But the bowling lanes themselves could be better. Like, it would be nice if the ball didn't get consistently stuck in the gutter to the point where one has to flag down the check-in lady to retrieve the now-immovable ball. She said it was because the rubber piece is sticking out a little bit (?). My question is: why hasn't this been fixed by now?! Oh, the food is laughably "bleh". I mean, it didn't surprise me one bit when my bestie's kids' burgers came out looking stoic as all hell. I at least figured the wings and pizza would be okay-ish. Well, the pizza was thick as a stack of deconstructed card board boxes. An innocuous flavor, to be sure. However, I don't much care for the crust. Especially when said crust comes out whiter than a New England snow storm. 5 out of 10, put this thing back in the oven. The wings were honestly shocking. Up until now, I never realized a person could actually toss wings in sauce, yet still have them come out THAT naked. These wings were, I'd say....only about 30% dressed in sauce. The rest ran to the bottom of the tray like a puddle of water. That's another thing. The sauce was so thin, it could have been used as broth. Seriously, it's no different than if they were to serve the buffalo sauce on the side. Oh, but let's talk about the bleu cheese for a minute. Guys. Don't. Just don't. I took a picture for reference but....let's just say, dubious bleu cheese looked dubious. I think that's the first time I've ever seen bleu cheese look both translucent AND have tiny bits of opaque whiteness throughout. I'm not even sure those parts were still bleu cheese. At the very least, you should also ensure your wings are fully cooked above all else. The center of the drumsticks were pinker than today's salmon. 2 out of 10, these....you can skip. The arcade room looked semi-interesting. Although, I was a bit disappointed their Skee-Ball machine was broken. Not to mention, this place has no billiards tables. Ah well. It's fine if you want to kill time via bowling a few games. The prices are fair and the staff are friendly (hence the second star). Everything else is just....kinda lame in comparison. Including the Wi-Fi; it's pitiful. 1999 called. They want their 56k modems back. Anyways, I'm giving the Yankee Lanes 2 thick-as-a-brick slices of pizza out of 5. read more

Fairly large bowling alley and very popular. Downside to that, hard to get a lane. Stopped in around 8pm and it was full. No lanes available so we had a wasted trip. They seemed to have a nice snack bar and a small game room. But I guess unless you reserve a lane or come in at an off time, you won't be able to bowl. read more

I've been to this bowling alley a few times with mixed results, but my most recent experience was very poor. The alley seems to have changed their scoring software and monitors and the lane we were assigned to was malfunctioning to the point that it was unusable. After a long delay, we were finally moved over to the lane next us which had been open the whole time. The next unsuspecting customers to come in were then assigned to the malfunctioning lane that had not been adjusted or repaired. Needless to say, they also encountered issues with it. On top of this, we were told by the bartender that we could not order drinks at the bar, but that a waitress was coming around. Unfortunately the waitress who was going around had walked by us multiple times without stopping to ask for our order. I don't think I'll be back to this bowling alley. read more

Spare Time is just what you'd expect: Classic ten pin bowling at decent prices. This place basically hadn't changed since I was a kid, and now it's cool again, with the vintage rugs and retro wallpaper. For the older set, there's a bar. For the younger folks, a snack bar and an arcade complete wth air hockey. You have to fight for a ball the right size and weight, but isn't that part of the adventure? Both serious bowlers and casual sporters can feel at home here. PRO-TIP: Monday nights after 9 are a flat $10 including shoe rentals - super good deal! You can even go watch poker and such in the bar if you need to kill some time before the special begins. read more

This is the first time at this place. The outside looks a little dry and it appears to be in a more industrial part of town. But then when I walked in it was a totally different story. Everything is very modern. The scoreboards, the data entry system. The shoes also looked relatively well kept pretty new. It turns out that we were there around 11:30 on a Sunday, and there were a lot of people already playing. Any games that you order is $2. So you pay Upfront for those games. If he come back later to add on James and if it is after noon time, then you pay the going rate. There is a little game area with arcade games, and it seems like a full-service menu and tables for behind the seating area for the bowling lanes. I glanced at the minions and they didn't look bad. We didn't know is this place has food so we already ate before we went there. Next time we will go and order the food there and try it out. I really enjoyed this place. It was neat, clean, and very well just checked. They played 80s music with MTV Style videos. When we were there. They were setting up for a couple of birthday parties. The tables behind the seating area we're put together for the party tables. That way the kids are right there instead of a separate room which I thought was kind of cool. Used to come here all the time and it was amazing. Came in asking to play two games and got denied even though we had 1:30 before there special bowling. Came in looking to grab my stuff in the locker. Informed me that my stuff was thrown out without telling me or contacting me about it. Kept refusing to let us look for our stuff and we had to negotiate with them to look in my locker and wow look my stuff was in it. Service took forever, front desk counter was unprofessional and giving really bad attitude the whole night. read more

The service here is awful. The woman working at the front desk was so unfriendly. When my fiancé politely asked if we could have bumpers up for our kids she literally rolled her eyes. A nice woman behind me asked if she could find something in the lost and found and the woman proceeded to whisper "I don't know what the hell this woman wants" to another coworker. The woman was still standing right in front of her. As we left the same woman could be overheard talking about difficult customers right at the front desk. This place was classless and trashy. The materials are in poor condition and the games are disgusting. The only redeeming quality are the wood lanes themselves. Never going back here. read more

I have been going to Yankee Lanes since it was known as SpareTime Bowling Alley. For those who don't know that's around 2004. The staff there have always been good with a few bad eggs but you get that anywhere you go. In the more recent years however this bowling alley has fallen so far. The staff has zero communication with each other. Here was my last straw with this place. I called a week prior to reserve a couple lanes for a birthday (we weren't doing a party there just coming in to bowl a couple strings). I was informed that they do not reserve lanes with the exception of glow bowling (held later in the evening). I then inquired if they had any leagues going on and what time they would be going on to plan around them. I was told "We don't have any leagues that Saturday." Again I inquired "So I should have zero issues coming in and getting a couple lanes?" And was told nope just come on in. Flash forward to the Saturday of our plans; I knew as soon as I entered the parking lot there was a league going on. I took a mental note that it was fine they normally have a few lanes and still went in with the party of teenagers and younger kids (11 people total). I went to the counter and the gentleman behind the counter did apologize and informed me that they wouldn't have any lanes available for a little bit as there was a tournament and a league going on. He also said that the league should be done shortly. This was at 11:00AM. I informed him of the aforementioned call and he simply said he was sorry and no one told him of this tournament and league. I told him that we could hang out for a few for a lane to open up we can let the kids hang out in the arcade that he was able to turn on for them. About 45 minutes after that he informed me that the league should be done around 1:00pm. We thanked them for their time and went and found something else to do as that was way to long of a wait as the kids. This saddens me as I loved this place as it was a big part of teenage and early adult life.. I will be removing my multiple bowling balls from the locker I have and will be looking for a new alley to call my "home alley" I hope they can turn themselves around for the better. read more

Holy sh*! . That woman who was referred to in an earlier review was still there AND WAS EFFING EEEEEE-VIL. She snapped at kids, rolled her eyes at us, complained about hating her job in front of plenty of people. I am blown away at how much one person could be so miserable and ruin multiple people's time. I don't know if the teenagers working with her also hated their job but they were almost as crappy as she was. Perhaps because they work with her, or maybe because they learned from her. I'm all about everyone has a bad day and I don't review about service much, but everyone I spoke to felt she was out of line. The bowling was great but the arcade was full of broken machines. Guy who ran the snack bar was hilarious and a great boss by the looks of it. Had me and his staff laughing. read more

We went there for a birthday party yesterday, and there was pizza served. My 6 year old daughter has celiacs disease, meaning she can't have gluten, so my husband went to the food counter to order her a gluten free flatbread pizza, as that was the only gluten free option on the menu. Twenty-five minutes had passed, and an employee (not a manager) came over and said 'they looked but couldn't find any gluten free dough. I guess they used it last night. Anyway, I voided it from your card'. No general apology, no 'can I get you anything else?' Further more, my husband had ordered a beverage that he had gotten charged for and was never brought. I was appalled at the lack of urgency, the lack of compassion, and the lack of care by whoever this woman was. Very disappointed, as was my SIX year old. read more

The good: We've never had to wait for a lane here. The bad: seems expensive compared to other lanes. Also, the lanes are synthetic and just don't roll right to me. Staff are pretty good (except for one waitress who just can't get it together). Food is solid... Not fantastic, but not terrible either, reasonable for the price. The attached bar attracts hair band fans. It's Manchester. We still prefer this bowling alley to the newer one in Merrimack. read more

I've came here a few times and each and every time the only thing on my mind is "I can't wait to leave and leave a review" .. the staff is awful. Not once have I felt content with the treatment my family and I have received. Front desk lady does NOT fail to be rude. Beside the place itself, we come because the hours are accommodating but not so much to the staff including bartenders. We got here at 10pm , according to hours they're there until 12... but the attitude was if they closed at 1015. Make you feel completely unwanted and like you're disturbing them. If it's such a PROBLEM change your HOURS OF OPERATION and if not change your I'll-mannered STAFF! These people should go work at diners 6am-2pm if you don't like your late hours! Good time. Waitress kept the beers coming. $17 all you can blow galactic bowling on Friday and Saturday makes it cheap. The bar attached was large and looked mostly full. Beer was cheap so makes sense. A friend and I got over ten string in before they closed. Happy with the overall experience. read more

First time going bowling in Manchester and I enjoyed Spare Time, good service, pretzels and nachos from the snack bar were pretty good. It's nice they put your name in at the desk, she even put my screen handle (Bigg Chee) for me. The dude at the snack bar commented on my wrestling shirt and told me a few things around the town involving professional wrestling, very cool dude. The lanes are very easy to curve, shoes were comfy, plenty of options for bowling balls, good experience overall. read more

My wife and I are regular customers who enjoy our time at Spare Time and think the staff very friendly and helpful, with one VERY LARGE exception. The woman working the desk on the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving is rude and clueless when it comes to dealing with customers. Her attitude is that her very presence there is a favor to all who have the misfortune of having to deal with her. Unfortunately, the only way we can voice our opinion is by bowling somewhere else, which is what we intend to do, even if it is a bit more expensive. It is too bad that one very rotten apple can reflect poorly on an otherwise capable and courteous staff. read more

The woman at the desk, Robin was incredibly rude to my friends and I. We went on Wednesday 10/25 for a friend's birthday and she ruined our experience. One of our friends said we would like to pay seperately. There was also a new girl training who I think Robin was supposed to be training but she was incredible rude to her as well! The girl accidentally charged all of our games to the first friend's card and when we said thats not what we wanted, Robin was basically like "oh well, deal with it" and when i said "shouldn't you issue a refund since it was your mistake?" she rolled her eyes and said "why can't you just give her the cash. it's not a big deal" easy for her to say when it's not her debit card or her bank account! She was so rude to the new girl right in front of us as well right in front of us! The new girl looked like she was going to cry! I love coming here, but Robin needs to go! She is awful! read more

I have been bowling at Spare Time for over 2 years now and am always impressed with how friendly the staff is. There are plenty of lanes available with them updating the lanes over the past year with new equipment. Tuesday and Wednesday nights after 8:30pm is half price strings, and on the weekend is galactic bowling which you have to experience. The place is always kept very clean. The food there is delicious and reasonably priced. Also included is an arcade area for kids to go and play. Highly recommend going with the friends or family. You won't regret it. read more

Do not waste time at this place. Go 10 minutes down the road to Merrimack 10 Pin, or the alley in Hooksett. Machines are extremely dated and do not count correctly. The lanes are dented and sloped. 3 times in 1 round I rolled a 7, and the machine came to sweep the loose pins, knocked the remaining 3 down, and counted my second roll as a scratch. Because the machines were dated, I couldn't figure out how to correct this myself. I went to the host and she said "sorry, don't know what to tell you". I asked for a manager, and she said she'd sent one to our lane. Waited 12 minutes and never showed up. I went to the bar and asked for 2 beers, and they said because we were bowling we had to wait for our server. Our server happened to be standing next to the bartender, and loudly claimed "they've been here for 10 minutes they can f-ing chill"... never was served. Just not a great environment to spend money at, especially when there are great bowling alleys down the road. read more

I went bowling with my family for the first time in a long time. The woman at the front desk, Jess, was so incredibly rude to us. I have never been so disrespected as a mother and I would not recommend this bowling ally to anyone. Service was awful and when we asked for our money back, the woman was still so rude to us. As we walked away, Jess was laughing at us and it makes me question the management of this bowing ally. So much for customer service. Do yourself a favor and don't go there. Employees were helpful both young (20 something) and older (40 something). I would say tne bar people are talking about looks like a diner to me. There's a separate snack bar also. The balls are arranged by weight. The only negative thing is the scoring system is a bit outdated and takes a little getting used to. Not as bad as Lakeside Candle-pin, but not as modern as Merrimack Ten-Pin which updated their system from Windows 95 (CRT's) to Windows 8 (touch screen). Over-all it's a very cool place. One point to consider. I like using Valley St rather than Maple since that's where the main parking lots is. read more
