Wanted a sweater for my dogs costume instead- a lecture on their leashes. When I tried to tell him that I wasn't interested, he put me in my place-told me "you can say whatever after I finish". I said that I already had a working leash&tried to explain my husband was a dog trainer&both dogs heel. He said "check your facts we are the number 1 brand out there" . I purchased 2 cute rain jackets for my dogs recently which where pretty pricey but well-constructed so I thought. First time I had my dogs wear it, one of the jackets completely ripped in half where the harness D-ring was located. A bit difficult to put on because the sleeve opening is not wide enough -- dogs cannot bend their shoulders back the way humans can. I called the store and they had me send the damaged one to their distribution warehouse in South SF. I received a replacement jacket within 2 days which is why I am giving them 4 stars. However, there is some design flaws which I will correct since I'm also a seamstress. Would I purchase again? Yes, but not the rain jackets. read more

I found this store when at the square. I found that they do have some very cute clothes but over priced. My problem with the store is that the owners are very, very pushy. I was going to buy this nice small catnip toy for my cat and they talked me into a big catnip toy that cost $16.00. Well my cats just look at it, even my dogs are not interested in it. No smell like the little ones had. Also, they keep pushing harnesses and a car seat for my dog, which I was not even looking at. I did buy a very cute jacket for my poodle and yes it was over priced. I would not go back. Also, my poodle was thirsty and there was no water in the dish. I asked for some water and it took another asking for the dish to be filled. read more

If you happen to buy a reversible harness that has dark blue denim on one side, be sure to wash it BEFORE putting it onto your dog, especially if s/he has white fur. It was kinda disconcerting to see that my dog's fur was a weird shade of blue after wearing his harness for the first time. It was a good thing that my pooch needed a bath, but it would've been nice if someone had told me about the staining that would occur. read more

Very small and cute dog store in the middle of Ghirardelli Square. They had some cute clothing for small and big dogs and also had a little section containing little toys for cats. They had clothing that I haven't seen at any other pet store but, in my opinion, the clothing was very poorly made and the prices were a little pricey for such poor quality. Also, they specialize in harnesses BUT made with velcro. I trust my dog, shes very obedient but for emergency purposes I wouldn't trust velcro holding my dog in a harness.... read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. Simply stated I did not think their car harnesses seemed safe, that I wouldnt feel comfortable using one for my dog- both employees began to argue with me and then asked me to leave when I said I did not want to argue. They were very aggressive and did not even let me finish speaking. Too bad, they did have a few cute items but nothing worth the absolutely atrocious customer service they provided. Owner was very rude. I visited the store to look for a raincoat. The owner asked me if my dog wore a harness, when I told him he wore a martingale I was was immediately LECTURED on the harm I was doing to my dog (despite following instructions precisely from my breeder who breeds champion AKC hounds). I originally purchased a harness for my beagle puppy when I visited San Francisco back in 2016. He is now a full grow pup and still issuing his harness! This was the best purchase I have ever made for my dog. The harness shows 0 wear and tear and he goes all over the place; dog park, water, etc. I live in Arizona, and the summers are hot. 0 sun damage while on my pup as well. They have some cute stuff BUT extremely OVERPRICED! They will try to sell you on everything, especially the most expensive stuff, when you can find similar items for a quarter of the price elsewhere. They claim it's easy to return and exchange items, but from my own experience, it wasn't. It was a battle. They charged me for something on the spot and promised i'd get it in 2 weeks max. Item only came 2 months later, and within that period I had to call about 5 times and bug them. I would NEVER shop there again. read more

I love/spoil my dog to the MAX!!! She has way too many things, and she enjoys it, however I have never been to such a rude place in all of my life. First off, this place doesn't offer anything over a medium. The owner was really friendly until he found out I had a Beagle and was like "Oh, a Beagle", and after that he didn't care about my service. So I pretty much walked out after that. I bought a yap wrap for my little doxie over the weekend, and it fits perfectly. We had a few issues with her harness from Petsmart chafing her skin and so far the yap wrap seems to be much more comfortable for her. This shop has some really adorable items even if you aren't the type who buys their dog their own wardrobe. My personal favorite was the "Chewy Vuitton" dog bed, I don't know if I'd spend that much money on a plush dog bed but it was awfully cute. read more

This store was really cute. I love the name too! They have plenty of adorable things for small dogs and the owner seemed very knowledgeable about all of his products. He emphasized to me the importance of the harness vs. a collar and showed me some of his products, explaining the pros and cons of each. I didn't buy anything because I don't adopt my puppy for a couple weeks and I'm not quite sure what size he will be, but even though I live in NJ, he said they were more than willing to ship if I so desired after I meet my new puppy. read more

My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary last year in SF and happened to stumble upon this shop when visiting Ghirardelli Square. It just so happened that our dog was in need of a new vest so we invested in one of their Classic Wraps. Less than a year later the velcro stopped securing itself so we emailed (they never returned our phone calls) for a request to exchange this vest. They quickly replied with a return address and requested that we mail it to them and they would mail us a new one...this was two months ago. We went back into their stores two weeks ago to try and talk to someone about this but the two sales reps at the store were deep in conversation for 10+ minutes not to even acknowledge we were in the store waiting to speak with them. Out of frustration we left. I have emailed them and called them multiple times since then but no response. Now we have no vest for our dog and are out $40 we spent on the original purchase plus shipping for the exchange which we never received back. The worst customer service I have ever experienced. read more

If I could give this a negative start I would. We went in looking for a harness and were assured the one we picked out would not rub on my dogs legs (all previous ones had). We also bought a reflective vest for my dog to use while she hunts to prevent her from getting scratched by brush. When we got home the harness pads kept flipping around and rubbing her legs. I called and was told they would send more pads and that would fix the problem but instead they sent a different product in the wrong size and refused a refund. A few week later my dog went I hinting wearing the reflective vest and it rubbed her legs raw and caused a rash on her legs and stomach. We spent $250 on products and had to spend another $230 on a vet bill for her rash. Please stay away, they have horrible customer service and are extremely rude. I don't want to return for store credit when I don't want anymore of your products...... read more

We have 2 Pomeranians..lots of fur and small and yappy... a friend discovered these great Yap Wraps for our girls. They wear them all the time, now exclusively...!!. For small dogs, they're sturdy and warm and very secure and we can completely control our girls with a nice leash and the sturdy protecting Yap Wrap.....Plus in case of an emergency...a Falcon, ...an unknown animal advancing...I can reach down and swoop up our puppers in a quick second.through the swifty nifty sturdy handle..I have washed them multiple times and the Velcro works really really really good...!!!....I love these Yap Wraps and will buy a few more as soon as I can....love em'.... read more

Found Yp while visiting the Crown and Crumpet across the way. Picked a raincoat for my Schnauzer, came home felt the fit was too tight.Called store, and David stayed a little later for me to arrive. Selected a new jacket, but i too big so I'll return in AM. Very helpful. Knowledgable. Pricey but the style and service worth going here. Much better than Petsmart or Petco selections. I went to this store in high hopes of finding cute outfits for my furbabies and also from the great reviews posted here. All I could find in that store were GAWDY and TACKY! I like to dress my dogs as tastefully as I dress myself. I love my dogs way to much to subject to the ridicule they would have to face at the dog park with these outfits. Definitely not the place to take your trendy urban hound. Not only were the outfits GOD-AWFUL!! But the staff were snobby, rude and pushy. When I dared to express a different opinion about the kind of clothing & accessories I usually like, they had the nerve to LITERALLY turn their noses up at me. Just because I like good quality yet understated clothes. Puh-leeze! This is the kind of stuff you try to get rid of on QVC cuz nobody else wants it! Although they do have some organic treats, their selection if vastly smaller than most other pet boutiques in the city. I wandered into YAP and the owner happened to be there (and no dogs). He was enthusiastic to show me his stuff. I got the impression they are very proud of their own line especially, so why shouldn't they tell me about it? He gave me a discount on a collar and a big box of free treats. And he told me that (with no publicity) they give homeless dogs coats every winter. (He showed me the coats.) This is the type of small business I want to support. read more

We had actually visited a year ago but I didn't want to review this place until we actually bought something notable (there was nothing to buy for our greyhound last time). We deliberately went out on New Year's day intending to buy a sweater for our aging JRT that was not handling the cold spell we are having on the coast this winter. The shop is full of incredibly cute and ridiculous doggie couture and accessories. And both times we were greeted with kind and helpful salespeople (or owner?). Although the clothing were much more pricier than what we would normally spend on our dogs, I would say it's worth it as they make all their own merchandise. The fabric selections is rather impressive and all the colors made me indecisive. Basically, they have items that are not available anywhere else even online. We managed to walk away with just a new sweater for our JRT and a walking coat for our GH. We'll have to come back soon for the spring collection. read more

I went into this store when I was visiting San Francisco recently. The store was nice and well kept. My issue was with the customer service. The person that was "helping" us in the store was pushy, rude and condescending. She was continually trying to push a hard sell on us even after we said we had to think about it and obviously looked uncomfortable. As someone who has worked in customer service and the support industry for 10 years, I would recommend training this person on how to interact with customers is a more professional and friendly way. read more

This place is fabulous ,as are the couple that own and run the place. We have two Italian Greyhounds, one of which was difficult to fit. They have a huge selection and are reasonably priced. Great little shop and Liz was so helpful in recommending a good leash that my 80 pound Lab could pull on without pulling my shoulder out. We also needed a snowsuit for an 8 pound dog and as we live out of state we had to ship back several suits several times to get the size just right..thank you Liz for your patience and help! We ordered two dog safety car seat belts on line. One worked and the other the clip for the collar broke when I opened it. Still attached to the card. I contacted YAP and they said they would send me a new one and I would send the defective one so they could see why it failed. I got a phone call after I contacted them but since the call of over a month ago, I still have note received the replacement. Each one costs $34.15, so they are not cheap. read more
