It was hands one which I loved but the main reason we went there was for the drones and they were broken when we got there. I grew up in Bethpage and so Grumman was all around me, and lived in Redondo Beach, CA for 26 years, home of Northrop Grumman, so anything related is very sentimental to me...so it was great seeing several bricks in the walkway, too many to count stating proud employee, etc, and so many with several decades on the job. I've visited here numerous times for a run in Calverton and it's always a cool feeling to park here and view the fighter jets - F14 Tomcat and A6 Intruder. It's well manicured with parking, plaques detailing the aircraft and histories, some picnic benches, and memorial bricks lining the inside of the park area highlighting those who worked on their many projects in aerospace and aviation. There are running and biking trails from this park out on and around the former 10,000 foot flight test runway. Worth a visit for aviation history buffs if you are out on LI near the area.

They had a great assortment of machines and loved that some with the same themes were next to each other. It was clean and well designed, with the charming relics in the way back. There were some old style arcade games up front too which was a fun surprise. I love me some Space Invaders. It wasn't crowded when we went and we played a little before dinner and then again after... I'd love to see it busier because I hate the idea it might not stick around... Frankly, it is a no-brainer. Not that this dilute the value, but be aware of a couple things. First, there is nothing to eat or drink in the establishment. I don't think this is such a bad idea because food and drinks can spill or get all over the equipment in the machines and ruin them. So you're probably thinking....I will take a break and walk to one of the juxtaposed restaurants. No. You'll have to pay again. Full price. Maybe bring your own snack and beverage--if they let you. Yesterday, was a glorious Sunday at the Long Island Maritime Museum, in West Sayville. There was a…read moreseafood festival, taking place outdoors, in the beautiful grounds of this park-like settings.. The weather was perfect. Warm and sunny. The breeze coming from the Marina was very pleasant. Picnic chairs and blankets were scattered around. Food, drinks, live music were the perfect combo. Me and my parents arrived at 3:30 pm. It was packed with people of all ages, and of course, a lot of children were present. Several food trucks were scattered around the park area of the museum. The best empanadas were from Island Empanadas food truck. The shrimp mango empanada were delicious! Moist inside, and the crispy crust was amazing. Let's not forget grilled corn and fresh oysters we're also on my radar. I also enjoyed a glass of summer ale while I was people-watching. It was the best way to spend a summer Sunday afternoon.

Visit Date: Unsure…read more Came here with my husband and son during a rainy day. The museum is pretty small but they have a few different houses dedicated to the maritime history of Long Island. Because of covid you're not allowed to browse the gift shop if there's something you want to buy the museum staff have to show you and if you want to buy it than you can have it and touch it all you want. Got my son a hat. We saw the main museum and the oyster house because certain buildings had doors that couldn't be open due to wood swelling or expansion or something like that. Despite a rainy day the outside views of the water were still pretty nice to look at.
