    Sonora dog

Re: Pirate Fest April 11, 2026 We have had Yaqui Zen's food many and usually rant and rave about it but this time was far from our typical experience. We always order the Sonora dog and then something else to try but that day it was a miss entirely. The hot dog was cold. There was so much bean juice on the bun that it fell apart after the 2nd bite. No estaba preparando con amor. The elote was mid. We ended up throwing the rest of our food away because we were so put off by the cold hot dog and soaked bun. This was our first disappointing experience with them. I couldn't attribute the experience to the fact that they were busy because they weren't. There was no line and only 2 orders ahead of ours. To top it all off, the person ringing us up laughed at our phone because it was an older model. I'll try not to let this experience cloud my overall view.

This was such an incredible food stand. I got to enjoy three tacos (al pastor was my fav, carne was texturally perfect, & you can never go wrong with papas), a sonoran hot dog, and a fat watermelon wedge covered in tajin, chamoy and lime on the grass like the happiest kid at the potluck. I haven't had a hot dog in forever and this is my new favorite one. Great service, great vibe, and will def go to fremont to have this at the restaurant.

We really enjoyed the new brick and mortar of Yaqui Zen cuisine. This unique flavors of Yaqui Mexican food taste satisfied my craving for Menudo, Posole, and Mini Sope samplers with Soyrizo, Asada, and Mushrooms Birria toppings. The blue corn and sope crusts are handmade. The soup is very tasty, light, and healthy. The other dishes were samplers of 'seafood'less ceviche samplers and a Mexican lentil soup. This is a vegan restaurant that is serving vegan Mexican food like no other. The vegan menudo is the best one I have ever tasted and tastes like homemade. It is light but flavorful! This vendor has been in operation for 5 years by doing a pop up and acquired quite a few followers. But it was our first time since we don't live here locally. At the end of the meals, don't forget to get yummy vegan cheesecakes from Vegas Vegan Culinary that taste so decadent and rich in many different flavors. Definitely will be back!

Tonight was my first time attending First Friday, and one of the highlights was Yaqui Zen! As a vegetarian, I normally don't have many options in street fairs (normally have to settle for sides). Yaqui's, however, specializes in vegan options and I had to try it! I ordered the quesabirria with the side of macaroni salad. It was delicious and seasoned to perfection! I haven't eaten meat since almost 20 years ago, so I'm not the best person to ask if it tastes like actual meat, but regardless, the flavor is there! It had a nice kick to it as well. The portion that I received was pretty big for a total of $15. I also saw their Al Pastor option on the menu, and I'll definitely need to come back to try it! Not only was the food delicious, but their service was fast and attentive. I especially loved supporting an LGBT+ owned business! I can't wait to try some more yummy food!

I was able to try Yaqui Zen while they did a pop up at F Bar inside Fergusons. So great to have them there and for me to try some vegan Mexican! My friends got the tacos abs they were really great. I got the "cup of tacos" which was so so so good. Life 5 rolled taquitos with potatoes inside sitting in a salsa bath. Truly wonderful.

Yaqui Zen is among the best vegan food in Vegas in my opinion. I love the strong, bold flavors. It seems like every time I see them at an event, they have at least one new item to try. Last time I came to see them at a vegan food festival, hubby and I tried the menudo and mango agua fresca with a chamoy and tajin dipped rim. Both were absolutely delicious and addicting. They are so nice and have excellent customer service. Would definitely recommend!

    Asada Tacos

I'm so happy I came across their stand at First Friday. The asada tacos were amazing, definitely will be visiting them again.

I found Yaqui Zen from my friend who is avid Yaqui zen'er lol. I was blown away by the food. I wanted to try everything. Everything I had was full of flavor and authentic. It was like a home cooked meal and gave me the comfort of such. I can't wait to try more when I catch them at their next spot. The service was zennn, making the experience even better and the dishes.

The BEST Vegan tacos I've ever had and I'm so happy! Since I became vegetarian I haven't found vegan tacos that "scratch where my New Mexican heart itches"....these do!!! The nachos were good too. I found the ramen esquire to be good but a tad sweet for me. However, a touch of hot sauce to counter the sweet made them a yummy JapaneseMexican fusion delight! AND supporting this business is also supporting a female indigenous business!! Hell yeah ladies! You are crushing it and I can't wait for my next taco!

Amazing Vegan Mexican food. Tacos Al Pastor were yummy AF. Definitely going to their next event to have more of their delicious tacos.

WOWW!!! I've been vegan for years and I've never had more authentically flavored Mexican food. And the fact that they had a chile relleno INSIDE of a burrito...mind blown! The service was great, Candice helped me navigate their menu because there was so many good options to choose from. Absolutely love and will definitely be coming again!

The best vegan tamales on the planet! I ordered a tamale at last week's First Fridays. It was so bomb that I ordered two more minutes later.

I tried the lime margarita, also excellent, and we couldn't leave without trying the churros for dessert. The ambience is lovely, with gorgeous decor, comfortable booths, and an excellent Hispanic music playlist. This is our new favorite Mexican restaurant. I really like the interior decor which is like a very contemporary and upscale Mexican. They have a variety of table and booth seating and a large bar. Our server, Hunter, was very friendly and attentive. He always ended every interaction with "have fun!" I tried the "el corazon" sangria which was delicious! It had a wonderful, warm flavor with a light hint of cinnamon yet it was still cold and refreshing! A cool tip - each drink comes with a little card with a symbol on it and the drink ingredients. Save this card! At each table is a game board of sorts that offers various prizes as you match the cards on the game board sort of like bingo. We really enjoyed the complimentary chips and salsa, and we tried the traditional guacamole with vegetables as well. The guacamole was wonderfully cool and creamy and flavorful. For my entree, I tried the chicken fajitas which is served on a steaming platter with various accompaniments. This was also very delicious, and the chicken was quite flavorful and juicy. A small side note - it was served with a cous cous of sort, but I think I would've preferred a simple Spanish rice. The chicken portion size also seemed a bit smaller than when we get fajitas at Chili's. I would recommend you get double meat if you want to share. We decided to try the chocolate flan and the fried ice cream sundae for dessert. I preferred the flavor of the flan and the unique textures of the flan which had the jiggly caramel flan part on top of a more cake like chocolate part below. I honestly think the fried ice cream was not too good. It did not taste freshly fried, and the coating was very dry and brittle and hard to eat. I prefer the places that serve the fried ice cream warm with a very bubbly crust that is both crunchy outside and a bit soft inside. This was not that. Overall, though, we really enjoyed the dining experience here! We will probably return and try their weekday "Fajitas and Ritas" special! I recommend Hola!

It was honestly some of the blandest Mexican food I've had, and nothing we ordered really stood out. It also felt a bit like a tourist trap. A simple frozen margarita was around $20, and the menu seemed pretty limited. I've since heard they're mostly known for their giant tortas, so maybe that's what they're best at. The service was fine, but the overall ambiance felt a little off. There was also a noticeable smell throughout the restaurant that made it seem like there might be plumbing issues. Sadly, the nostalgia wasn't enough to make up for the food, and I don't see myself coming back.
