Visited on 9/23 for my birthday dinner and after waiting for 45 minutes, we were seated outside which was fine but it was a little cold out. The server we had, Kelly, was extremely rude and acted as though we were bothering him. My boyfriend ordered a gin and tonic with limes and when the drink came with no limes, he kindly asked Kelly to check on the limes. The server then rudely replied, "are those limes stopping you from drinking the drink?" When the limes finely came, he lectured us that we should never let a garnish stop us from drinking a drink. While we were waiting for our food, a huge roach climbed up the wall next to our table. We mentioned something to Kelly about it and he said "Just shoo it away for something." This was so disgusting it was all I could think about. The roach then climbed up the height of the wall and fell directly onto the top of our table. Kelly did nothing to resolve the issue or even offer to move tables. I completely lost my appetite and didn't enjoy my birthday meal after that. I will never return because of this experience and wished we would have left immediately after seeing the roach. read more

Service was A1 very good. The server was amazing he was very attentive and exciting, it's my birthday so I'm excited. But I ordered a medium burger and it came out a very medium well, server was glad to send it back and I really didn't wanna send it back at all but he seen me freeze a little when he asked "how was everything" so he sent it to the kitchen, & I really appreciate him for this. He even brought out a fresh truffle fry for me!! Unfortunately the second burger was straight up well done, and the only thing that made the experience great was the server. Ok so the first time i gave this place a great review.....hoooowever i went back..i asked the waitress to ask what was the upcharge pruce on a dish. She returned to our table saying the manager told her he was to busy. "To busy???" I was so upset. I had to go up to the manager (Jeremy) and ask him what did he mean "To busy" He danced around the convo saying that he would never say that blah blah blah...they lost major points for us. This restaurant/bar is very nice looking. Unfortunately when we went it was rainy so we didn't get the full (outdoor) experience. I ordered the lobster and noodles and it was extremely salty. Unfortunately, for a $24 meal, I didn't eat much of it. My hubby played it safe and had a burger and fries. He was satisfied. The menu had a lot of delicious looking options, so I'm willing to give it another try. Hopefully it was just an off night! read more

The location of this Yard House was really nice. I love how Kings bowling is right in front of it. My husband and I went on a Friday night. They said it was an hr plus was time but we waited at most 45 mins. The waiter was nice and attentive. I ordered the southern fried chicken with a mignight sangria and it was all super tastey! Yard house rarely disappoints. I enjoy their deconstructed California roll, poke nachos, and fish and chips. The sweet and spicy edamame and onion ring stack are also great app options. I arrived on a Sunday afternoon. Too many servers standing to greet you to include the manager. They were looking at me like I had committed a crime instead of welcoming smile. The service was super slow and they were not busy. The waitress got my order wrong, not once, not twice but three times. We have been to Yard House many times in the past. The food has always been good until today. We have noticed over the past year or so the food, service, and atmosphere has really gone down. The fact that they have an order kiosk on the table makes me feel like I am at a TGI Fridays or Chili's . Not the atmosphere it once had. Today we sat outside our server was fine. However they are in major need of maintenance to the patio. No umbrellas. Heat lamps out most are broken. We were lucky enough to be early and in the shade thanks to the server that let us move. Not sure why those assigning table tried 3x to have people sit at the same table and everyone moved or went inside. Now the food. The Ahi appetizer was good as usual. The pretzel was fine for the kids. The kids burger was terrible. Frozen patty, terrible taste, and dry. I had the lettuce wraps. It looked like dog food. I was hopping for something more like PF Chang's. The taste was terrible. Literally it looked and tasted like it came from a can of soupy food. Yuck!! Not sure if we will ever return. Sad because there are so few nice places to eat outside. read more

This place is phenomenal! Has a great environment and it is perfect for date night. The service was above and beyond, our waiter was very helpful and knowledgeable on their menu. He offered the best recommendations and made the experience better than we could ask for! We ordered the poke nachos and cabbage rolls to start with. They were amazing and I would definitely recommend them both. For dinner I had the Nashville hot chicken with the sweet potato pancakes. It was the best take on chicken and waffles I have ever had. It was truly amazing, the flavors in your mouth are just too good to put into words. My date had ordered the filet, which was cooked perfectly to order and tasted amazing as well. For dessert we had the mini trio sampler that completely topped this meal off and made this place a 10/10! All three were incredibly delicious although I couldn't choose a favorite between the peach apple cobbler or the cheesecake brûlée. The Yard House is truly incredible,and if you haven't eaten there you are missing out. Wish I had the pictures of their food, but I forgot to save my snaps. read more

In town for the night and decided to try. Not terribly crowded and the service was mediocre. The manager took our order and we only saw our server twice during our meal to refill our drinks and bring our bill. The ribs were a small portion for the price and the sides were the size of condiments. If I could give no stars I would. I am usually very good about explaining my severe shellfish allergy to restaurants. However, I'm practicing a vegetarian lifestyle currently and have had no issues with avoiding shellfish when ordering vegetarian dishes. Vegetarianism has become commonplace and has never caused me problems. Last night that all changed. My boyfriend and I split the hot and spicy edamame which is denoted as V (vegetarian) and U (under 600 calories) and is noted as being made with garlic and hot chilis. Wonderful, things I can eat. I understand that they use the same cooking surfaces and the same prep area for things. I'm usually okay with things being prepared or cooked on the same surface as shellfish so this was all fair and good. I'm game for that as that will cause some hives and mild discomfort if anything. However, towards the end of our serving of edamame at Yard House a sizable piece of shrimp (larger than 1") was found as well as other smaller, chopped up pieces. Unbeknownst to me I had consumed them thinking they were garlic. I have a new purse and, due to the price of epi-pens I can only afford two at a time, I did not have an epi-pen at the ready. I understand, my fault, but when my boyfriend spoke with the manager she said it was all my fault for not notifying my server. However: 1) it says that anything connoted as "vegetarian" isn't cooked with meat or stock - a piece of shrimp is meat - and 2) our server wasn't even getting orders right as it was, consistently bringing the wrong drinks. I have also worked in the restaurant industry and have never actively accused a guest who is having an allergic reaction. They took my number and said they will follow up as well as gave our table free tequila shots (um I guess that makes my medical crisis okay?...at least my friends' nights weren't totally ruined). Poor all around. Yard House, get it together. You clearly do not care about the customer especially in a life or death situation. read more

This was my first time here and I was quite pleased with my experience. I stopped in for a couple of beers and a bite to eat. The beer selection is amazing, almost a little daunting, but Tina, the bartender who served me helped me pick out a couple of beers that I had never tried before which went great with the tacos that I ordered. My review for our first visit to Darden's newest offering in the Raleigh area on Wed. the 12th of November is as follows: -Dark modern interior with an upscale vibe, weird art on the wall that speaks to your inner hipster who likes to drink craft beer while watching muted espn from every corner of the dining area. I can see why it was placed in the North Hills shopping district. It is the perfect place to impress work mates or subordinates for lunch, a nice place to ignore your spouse or date, and a great place to bro down and drink tap brew while wrestling with inner thoughts of homosexuality or how long you should let your beard grow out. -The service was okay. Brandon, our server, asked what we wanted to drink after being seated. He promptly brought our drinks, asked if we knew what we wanted, yadda yadda. Did a few minute check back and refilled drinks. Now, the folks who were seated after us, directly behind us got the, "Hi my name is______, Have you ever dined here before?" corporate shtick, and were walked through the menu. Maybe he was trying to tailor our dining experience to what he thought we wanted or expected a bigger tip from folks who wore business professional attire. Who knows? My wife and I have many years experience in the service industry under our collective belt and found the inconsistency in service a little off putting. Brandon still received a 20 percent tip for minimal service. -The menu is a weird amalgamation of Korean, American, and south western cuisine with a touch of vegan. Since it was lunch, we ordered salads. My wife had the bbq chicken salad and I had the skirt steak salad. She was not happy with the amount of dressing on the salad but it did not warrant a complaint, she just didn't eat much. Sometimes you just have to learn from trial and error. My medium steak was cooked well done. After a few minutes of eating around it, Brandon came to check on us, and took the steak to have a new one sent out. By the time it came back out I was almost done with the salad. It was comped from the check. Now, mind you, it wasn't busy at all. How a medium steak becomes overcooked in an almost empty restaurant is a mystery to me. -The overall experience was a bit lack luster but is what I've come to expect from Darden's corporate dining. Go to Five guys for a good burger. Go to Seoul Garden for good Korean. Go to Dos taquitos for good Latin fare. Go to the flying saucer for a craft pint of hoppy brew. Go to the yard house if you want to get what Darden does best, over priced knock off specialty food prepared by a team of Latin line cooks. I get what they are doing with this concept and what market they are trying to reach but they are missing some of the core fundamentals of a good dining experience; consistency of service and food preparation. I'd like to say that we would go back and chalk it up to a fluke but we probably wont. I'd just as soon go to Bahama breeze up the road or Olive Garden if I wanted another mediocre Darden dining experience, which we probably wont. read more

We were able to sit down promptly after arriving. The wait for the food including the appetizers was beyond 30minutes. When the entrees arrived they were warm. We advised the waitress that the food was not hot and she stated that the plate was fresh out the oven. The chicken tasted as if it was fresh out the oven however the other entree and everything on the plate besides the chicken was warm. Was here this past Saturday Night. We had a 40 minute wait which is understandable at 6:45 So we didn't mind the wait. When we were seated were told our waitress would be right with us 40 minutes later someone says your waitress has a party so I'll be assisting her I ll be right back 20 minutes later she returns to get our drink order So we've been seated for over an hour at this point. She then takes our drink order. And she says she's only getting the drinks and we threw the appetizer in there and she seemed frustrated by it. 20 minutes later she returns with our drinks and asks if we'd like Appetizers and we say we've already ordered those and she says ok let me check on it then comes back and asks what appetizers we ordered and we had to tell them again. Then she takes our Entree order and goes in the kitchen. 30 minutes later runners start bringing our Meal. Then 15 minutes later our appetizers arrive. Food was excellent. But if you are going to proclaim to be Upscale as you and your prices suggest then you should treat your guests in a upscale manner. read more

A Thursday after-work get together with some fellow employees is the basis for my review. It was also during NCAA Tournament season....which probably contributed to the number of patrons visiting. We ordered a whole host of appetizers - onion rings, crab cakes, spinach and artichoke dip, seared ahi sashimi, boneless wings, etc. All of the appetizers were presented very well visually, no complaints whatsoever. The crab cakes were delightful. They had a very crisp, well cooked exterior with wonderfully fresh crabmeat inside. This is the first time that I have experienced crab cakes with an obvious "crunch" - but very good indeed! The seared ahi sashimi is fantastic all around. Usually when you order sashimi it is served "naked" with ginger and wasabi on the side. However, this sashimi was served well seasoned and ready to ready to go. Perfect blend of house seasoning! The beer menu is extensive and all encompassing. From light ales to truly hardcore creations, virtually ever type of beer imaginable is offered. I believe that they advertise over 100 beers on tap, and that would be a very fair assessment. I saw an advertisement on their digital chalkboard for something called "Smuttynose S'Muttonator." With a name like that, is has to be some good stuff! I was intrigued by the cost....$17 for a 22oz bottle. That is by far the most expensive beer I have ever seen. Yes, you read that right - $17 for a 22oz bottle. Since it was a company function and I was not picking up the tab, I decided to give it a shot. Very strong, double bock, malty German type beer. 10% ABV to boot. The label describes it as a very limited production beer from a small New Hampshire brewing company. They claim that it takes more than 30-hours to brew a single batch. Part of the intrigue was drinking a $17 beer - but the taste backed up the price. I am not, by any stretch of the imagination, a beer aficionado - but I really appreciated this strong, dark beer. While I would not personally want to pay for it, it isn't a bad choice for something unique. So overall I was very pleased. This is a rather ritzy, pricey establishment. Basic beers were $7, mixed drinks $9, appetizers were $10-$12, sandwiches around $14...and regular dinner plates in the $25-$35 range. I imagine it would be easy to ring up a $50/person bill for a typical dinner...and it would cost a small fortune to get drunk. However, prices aside, this is a very respectable establishment for the discriminating beer drinker...with solid food choices as well. 5-Stars...they got it right! read more

North Carolina's first Yard House location is a welcome sight for the North Hills area. Yard's neighbor, World of Beer, has got to be feeling like they got the short end of the stick after being the first to be in the CapTrust tower. I am not yet convinced that dinner here is worth the draw. I would really still only come for happy hour or if there was a game on. Boneless wings are clutch and they have a nice menu of better designed bar food. The main food menu is a little all over the place, trying to please all kinds of palates, but many dishes do seem to be well conceived. Food is presented neatly, but again trying to please everyone. Eating their entrees was a little too fussy for my liking. I don't need 3 sauces/toppings for my grilled fish. I also don't need a pool of caramel sauce for my cheesecake. The macadamia nut cheesecake was good all by itself though. Yard's beer list may differ from WoB, but these guys have food. The list itself is very comprehensive and much more informative than any I've seen. I would really only consider WoB if the wait at Yard was too long. I foresee many a happy hour happening here since I work in the building. This is a place you could go with friends, family, or even a date. That might just be a function of the location, but it really caters to everyone. With a restaurant with this kind of footprint, I guess that's appropriate. In warmer weather the outside seating makes this place even larger. You know a place brings the heat, when it erupts in reaction to a team scoring. That's just good ambiance, which is rarely seen outside of a college bar. 4 stars for what liken to an upscale Buffalo Wild Wings. The food is better, the beer is better, it's just better - comma, and priced accordingly. read more

Went to a mock service today to check it out. It's located in North Hills east on the ground floor of the Cap Trust building. You can check out the concept on the website . At first I was skeptical about it being a chain concept . Well they won us over with the food and service. They did not serve beer today but they have 140 on tap. Excellent selection listed in the menu. They will feature rotating bottled beers and drafts on a rotating basis. The restaurant has a nice clean feel to it. Classic rock playing at a good level. Volume was enough to notice but still carry on a conversation. Large bar is in the center with all the taps of the various beers they serve. You can see the keg rooms along the back of the restaurant. The keg lines are run through stainless steel pipes to the center of bar where the taps are. I am guessing the lines are glycol cooled. They hit the mark on the food. Started out with the French onion soup and a organic tomato bisque. Perfect for a rainy day. French onion soup was not overly salted like sometimes you get so the flavors come out. Tomato soup also was excellent. Saw the onion ring tower go to another table. I asked the guys at the table that ordered them how they were and they said they were great. My wife ordered the Caribbean chicken and penne pasta. Great seasoning on the chicken. Seared on the outside. Not overcooked, tender and moist. Asparagus, peppers and tomatoes were perfect.. Spices came through without over powering the dish. I ordered the BBQ burger medium rare with fries. Came out cooked as I ordered, moist, with bacon crisp not soggy. Good grade of beef, so they met the burger test here. Fries were served in a metal cup in a paper cone. Crisp, not greasy, lightly salted. For desert went with the brownie with ice cream. Took about 10 minutes to make. Came out warm and it hit the spot on a rainy day. Service was good. Very attentive and other servers going by, even though we were not their table, would ask if we needed refills, clear the table etc. Giving it a four star for now only because we could not sample the draft beers they have and see how there sea food menu is. But will do that after they open this Sunday and report back. read more

I have been to Yard House a couple of times but figured I would write about my most recent trip with a group of friends so here goes: A group of 12 went and it was crowded but they found us a table fairly quickly. They showed us to a booth, which was not good as I hate sitting at booths. Once we sat down I was shocked at the size of the booth, I am a big guy and even with so many of us sitting there I was as comfortable as could be. After a few minutes of my friends looking at the massive menu (and I mean MASSIVE) the waitress comes over for our drink order. After a quick introduction she informs us of their special drinks. Now I had planed on not drinking at all this trip but she described one of the cocktails and it sounded like an Old Fashioned with more citrus in it. Now I love bourbon and I love citrus, so right away our waitress gets me to go against my plan, and I order one. She goes around the table and a few in my group have questions about certain beers and the waitress has an answer for each one. She even makes some great recommendations, she obviously knows her stuff. When the drinks came I was certainly glad I did order one because this drink was just plain awesome. Now comes time to order the food. All I wanted this trip was a steak and that is what I was going to get. They had a rib eye on the menu and seeing as that is my favorite cut of steak that is was I ordered. A couple people at my table did have a hard time ordering due to the large menu and to quote a friend of mine "there are a few things on the menu I want so when she takes my order I am simply going to pick the first one that comes to mind." When the food came all of it looked great. Most at the table commented on the large portion size. I had ordered my steak medium. I enjoy a medium steak more then about anything in the world and when it comes to restaurants I tend to order medium-rare because they tend to cook it too long. I for some reason went against that and when my steak came to the table I regretted it, as the steak was medium-well (and a little charged on the sides). The steak wasn't of the greatest quality but once I started to eat it was certainly good enough for the meal. My sides is where Yard House really made up for it. The meal came with garlic mashed potatoes as well as green beans, and both side dishes were perfect, like we are talking they tried to "assassinate my taste buds with deliciousness" perfect. I can still taste the potatoes now. Throughout the whole meal, everyone at my table seemed to enjoy their meal and the waitress certainly did a great job and stayed engaged throughout the night. When it came time to pay the bill the waitress had no problem splitting the check and was even able to tell who was with who (a rare skill). I knew I was going to pay through the mouth because of my recent trips there so the bill did not shock. I did notice that they charged 18% gratuity because of the size of our group. I personally do no like this, but I know it is expected so I will not hold it against them. Honestly I tend to start my tipping at 20% and go from there, and with how this waitress was I would have tipped at least 25%, but when it is taken out already. I usually only tip a $1 or 2 extra. This trip was certainly a big improvement over last one and everyone was happy. As before the cost was certainly a downfall, as was the large menu, but that was to be expected as it was a return trip. Went there for lunch after hearing good things about this place. I'd like to start off and say that the service was attentive and quick. Having said that, the first tip-off should have been when we asked to be seated outside (it was a nice day, and we were one of the first couple of tables). The hostess seemed to be thrown off by that, as if she had to recalculate the landing trajectory of a space shuttle. Once we got past THAT hurdle we were seated at what I assumed to be, table #1. No shade. Full Sun. Uhhh... what about the 11 other tables that we passed with umbrellas on them? We got past that too. Our waiter came and greeted us with "Hey, how you doin', man?". I'm sorry. My apologies. I failed to realize we were long lost drinking buddies, and were going to go share a smoke back by the dumpster when I was done with lunch with my family. Although he was attentive and provided good service, the whole "man" thing continued throughout lunch. Now the food. Second tip-off should have been the menu. A place with a Cheesecake Factory-esque menu (probably more extensive than that) can't possibly put out a good product. It's been proven time and again, the world over. We started with a huge plate of Chicken Nachos as an app. Looked very nice. Tasted, a little cardboard-y. Bland. Really? With all those ingredients? Little did we know this would be a recurring theme. The Pepperjack Burger was just ok, the Mac and Cheese with the"Grilled" chicken (tasted and looked boiled) and Applewood smoked bacon and Truffle oil was bland (how's that even possible??). The grilled Pastrami sandwich with garlic French bread and Jalapenos was, again, nothing to write home about. The Pastrami was rubbery, the "French bread" tasted like it came from Food Lion (sorry Food Lion, but you're on the lower spectrum of grocery stores IMO). Actually, had it come from there, it would probably have tasted better. This place certainly isn't cheap. For what they charge, the food was pretty dismal. Maybe it's the North Hills curse? Honestly, we couldn't get past the prices... Some things, ie salads and sandwiches, were the same price or more than some burgers and dinner plates and for no apparent reason. I had a salad and onion soup. Soup was great, salad was boring iceberg with shredded carrots and onion and cheese. $7 I think... I had two decent beers at a whopping $8 a piece and my fiancé had a Cobb salad that was mediocre at best and two beers and our bill was about $75... I'm ok with the $ if the food was good but mediocre doesn't make me want to go back. Draft house, Falls Taproom, TriBeCa, all top this place. I may try again after some time... read more

Pretentious little place that's appears to be more interested in jacking up the tab to make their undoubtedly high lease payment than being good to their customers. Good luck should you leave your drink at the bar to hit the restroom since it will be whisked away like so many strip clubs and the like. Better bet: go next door to the World of Beers where the staff are more in tune with making sure you're enjoying yourself than lining the pockets of some restaurant investment group. Came in this evening 50 minutes before closing and our bartender Megan was extremely unfriendly and rude upon us entering. When another couple walked in the doors and saw them headed towards the bar she stated "oh my god really?!" She was very short with us and seemed annoyed that we were here in the first place, I have come here many times and never been treated like this. read more

I've given this place so many chances. I only go back because I'm friends with the servers and bartenders. But maybe one out of ten times I've been there has my order been right, and good! (And that time was great the fried chicken with the southwest mash mmm) But this most recent time really irked me. I was driving from Chapel hill, (about 30 min drive) and I called to place an order for pick up. A little complicated but not really. I wanted the chicken avocado sandwich wrapped in lettuce, and fried chicken instead of grilled, no tomato, with a side salad. They told me it'd be ready in 10-15 mins, great! since it was going to take me a while. It should have been ready by the time I got there. Well, it wasn't. They told me the kitchen was in a shift transition so that might be why it's taking so long. I paid, settled down next door at my work and went back maybe another 5 mins later (it was about 45 mins by now) still not ready. They went to check on it "they forgot to make the salad". Finally, ready. I go to work and eat it, excited because I had been thinking about that meal all day. Well, who knows how long the sandwich had been sitting in the window because the lettuce wrap was brown and wilting, the avocado was no longer green, and the fried chicken wasn't fried, just breaded. But at least they didn't put tomato this time! Previous times, there's been hair, the paper that separates cheeses, no bacon when I ask for bacon, cold truffle fries, and when they go to bring me a new order it's just regular fries. 3.5 Stars. Love the atmosphere. Great server. I thought the menu was just too big. It is like Cheesecake Factory big. That overwhelms me and I almost always end up panicking and ordering the first think I look down at. We went here after seeing a movie, at which I ate half a bag of popcorn, so I wasn't starving for lunch. I ordered the 1/2 pizza small salad combo for $9 and it was a perfect portion. The salad was fresh, and the margarita pizza was yummy. I prefer a thinner crust, but the roasted garlic cloves in the cheese made this pizza extra tasty. My mom ordered a bowl of French Onion soup, which she said was A-Ok. Jeff ordered the Firecracker wings, which is a weird name for wings that are not spicy. They were yummy, but they were not even mild sauce spicy, more like Teriyaki flavored. The beer list, which is ginourmous, is nice and organized, and Jeff got a nice Porter from Asheville that he other wise would not have the chance to I will for sure be back. This was not my first time at Yard House but it will be my last. The first time the service was great and the waitress was amazing with her recommendations and friendliness! This time was extremely different.. a hostess who was off the clock had to seat us because no one would come to the front desk it also took 12 minutes to get a drink then another 30 to take our order which we ordered salads and it took another 30 minutes to get that. Then from the time I asked for the check to the time I signed the recipe took another 15 minutes. It was a calm Sunday mid-afternoon. There were not many people in the whole restaurant maybe 12. There was more staff in the restaurant than there were customers and the service was still horrible. When leaving I talked with the manager and he took down my info and apologized multiple times and was going to send us a $50 gift card. 3 weeks later and I am still waiting for that to come in the mail. read more

Love it! For a vegetarian it's one of the friendliest and tastiest stakehouses to go to. No pity burger or vegetable plate here! A veggie menu full of veg based sinful and healthy options. Our waitress Tiffany was super sweet too. Love this place! read more

Had lunch over the weekend at yard house and it didn't disappoint. We were seated quickly and our server was amazing. She took care of us and knew the answers to any questions. We had coconut shrimp, that was fantastic. I had a burger with sweet potato fries. If recommend it to anyone. A+ read more

Honestly, I'm not a fan of chain restaurants. Probably wouldn't had gone if I knew it was a chain but I am so glad I did. The breadth of he menu is awesome. We have two carnivores and two vegetarians and this place fit the bill for both. Even more impressive is their beer selection. I'm a self proclaimed beer snob who likes big boy beers such as triples and quads which are hard to find during the summer but this place had them. And good ones at that. The meal was good, the service was great, and the selection was awesome. Overall a great dining experience. One tip. We dined at lunch and had no problem with seating. Went back two days later for dinner and they had a 90 minute wait. So, arrive early or make reservations if possible. This place gets a rare five star rating from me...and it's a chain?
