I genuinely don't know how it took me this long to try Yard House happy hour because this might be one of the best happy hour deals I've found in San Diego. This review is actually from two separate visits because after the first one I already knew I needed to come back. The Mission Valley location is huge with booths, bar seating, high tops, and plenty of room for bigger groups. I went once around 3:30 PM and once around 5 PM. If you're trying to avoid a wait, definitely go earlier. At 3:30 there were plenty of open tables. At 5 PM the place was packed with people getting off work and we had to hop on a waitlist. We were quoted 20 minutes but got seated much quicker than that. The biggest thing you need to know is that the happy hour food is 50% off. Most dishes end up being around $5 to $10 which is honestly kind of crazy considering the portion sizes. To start, I ordered the Paloma and this thing was good. It had tequila, grapefruit, citrus agave, and a salted rim. Super refreshing and balanced. Not too sweet and definitely a generous pour. Later on I got an espresso martini which was also really solid. Smooth, strong enough to give you that little coffee kick, and honestly a perfect after dinner cocktail. Now for the food. The chicken lettuce wraps were easily one of my favorite things I tried. The chicken had a great ginger-forward marinade and a nice charred flavor. It comes with both peanut sauce and sweet chili sauce and both were delicious. The crazy part was the portion size. We filled every lettuce cup and still had chicken left over. This is a must-order. The sliders were good too. Nothing life changing but exactly what you'd want from a slider. Juicy burger, cheese, pickles, fries on the side. My partner loved these way more than I did because he's a burger person. The calamari though? Skip it. There was way too much breading and not enough calamari. The pieces were small, kind of rubbery, and the breading didn't have much seasoning. It came with a jalapeño tartar sauce and a spicy tomato sauce. The jalapeño sauce was actually pretty good but it wasn't enough to save the dish. We barely touched it and left most of it behind. The poke nachos were another favorite and I've ordered them both visits. They're not going to compete with a dedicated poke spot but for happy hour they're really good. The sweet soy ginger sauce is what makes the whole dish for me. My second visit actually had way more ahi and avocado too which made it even better. The only thing I'd probably change next time is getting the truffle sauce on the side because it kind of takes over the whole dish. I also got the crème brûlée cheesecake because that name sounds amazing. Unfortunately it was just okay. It wasn't bad. It just wasn't memorable. It tasted like regular cheesecake with a crème brûlée top. The berries on the side helped but I wouldn't order it again. During my second visit we tried the Korean garlic boneless wings, Wisconsin cheese curds, and crispy Brussels sprouts. The wings were fine. The sauce just didn't have enough flavor to make them stand out. I did love the generous amount of green onions on them. The cheese curds, however, were delicious. Ridiculously cheesy inside, but i wish they were crispier on the outside. The hot honey sauce paired really well with them. Also the portion is massive, so definitely order these with people. The absolute star of the entire review is the Brussels sprouts. Whatever sauce they use on these should be bottled and sold. They're sweet, garlicky, salty, tangy, and completely addictive. I kept reaching for them over everything else on the table. These will be ordered every single time I come back. Yard House is absolutely worth checking out for happy hour. The service has been great both visits, the portions are huge, and the prices are hard to beat. read more

The center droops lower than the stomach of a 600 lbs patient post weight loss. Sliders were ok too but lacked flavor. YARDHOUSE @ MISSION VALLEY Parking is super easy since they have a gigantic lot. It's located in Mission Valley Mall, so the parking is shared with places like Outback Steakhouse, a bunch of shopping centers, and Target. We parked right behind Target, which was only about a couple minutes' walk to Yard House. This was my very first time going to Yard House and I kid you not their happy hour deal is insane. They have half off a huge list of appetizers Monday through Friday from 3 PM to 6 PM and again after 10 PM to closing. They also offer select drinks at half off. We got there around 5:30 PM and were seated pretty quickly. The space itself has more of a darker vibe, which honestly makes it really nice for a date night. It's also a big sports bar, but the layout is super beautiful and well-designed. There were definitely a lot of families there too, so it feels casual and welcoming overall. I ordered the poke nachos, which come with tuna and crispy wonton chips. I opted out of cilantro and green onions. My friends got the chicken lettuce wraps, Brussels sprouts, and chicken tenders with fries. The portions were way bigger than I expected, it honestly felt like I ordered a full entrée. Unfortunately, my food didn't come out for about 20 minutes after my friends had already gotten theirs. However, the manager and our server were super kind and apologetic. They even took it off my bill because it had been brought to the wrong table. They handled the situation really well, which I appreciated. The poke nachos were so delicious, everything tasted super fresh, the wonton chips were perfectly crispy, and I loved the sweet sauce they drizzled on top. Overall, I would definitely recommend stopping by Yard House during happy hour. After 6 PM, it did seem like the crowd died down a bit, but happy hour is definitely the move if you can make it. Had HH here a little while back. Yardhouse HH is always a good deal! They offer most of their appetizers and all of their pizzas at 50%! The place was busy when we arrived, around 5pm, but our party of 5 was able to be seated right at a booth. Our server was very friendly and he checked up on us often. We were able to place our food orders using the tablets on the table, and our food was brought out quickly, one or two at a time, and just minutes apart. I lovee it here. The food always hits. Never do I not order the poke nachos. That aioli sauce is to die for and my fav is the Korean ribeye steak. There was a lull in which we haven't visited this place in about 8+ years and now that we've come back to reexperience Yardhouse it's safe to say we've never been happier coming back! Came here on Valentine's Day and, as expected, it was pretty busy. Even without a reservation, the hostesses were attentive and stayed on top of the waitlist -- we were seated within about 35 minutes, which wasn't bad at all considering the crowd. This was our first time at the Mission Valley location and overall it was a great experience. The food was good overall. The only downside was the rice and beans that came with the taco flight -- they didn't taste very fresh. Also, one of our plates was still dirty when we're getting sat but I'm sure it was unintentional.. Aside from that, everything else was great. The first Yard House I dined at was in DTLA downtown LA, next to the Crypto Arena formerly the Staples Center. I liked it then and it like here in Mission Valley, San Diego. Plenty of free parking in the lot is a major plus. While the Yard House's claim of fame is the array of beer selection, that's not why I like it. The many TV monitors, the variety of foods ranging from bad to the bone bar food, to food porn and healthier options is why I like it. If I can watch one of my favorite college or professional teams play and have a descent meal and drink ins clean place with great service, I'm thrilled. Have dined here for almost a couple of years. Almost everything I've ordered from salads, appetizers, pizzas and wine were all good and have repeat ordered: the ahi poke, the blackened ahi sashimi, Salmon with salad, Brussel sprouts, Truffled mushroom pizza have been my repeat orders worth mentioning. I have sent back some foods for being subpar ie being overly fried or overly salty. If you can drop in during HH=happy hours, some of these are half price and that means you scored!! It would better if HH was offered on Saturdays too. It's not a dive but not a fancy place either. Came here for dinner on a friday night. I would say that though the staff was friendly, my friend and I kept having to ask or remind the staff of things they forgot. For example, the food came out before our drinks, so i had to ask for them. I was missing my truffle fries (appetizer) when our main dishes came out first, had to ask for that. I was missing ranch when I had asked for it when we placed our order. I still like yard house, I do think their food is delicious, but was just disappointed a bit in the service. I know our waiter was trying his best but it just seemed to be lagging in that department. As for food, my friend had to ask for more rice for her tuna dish, it literally looked like 1 teaspoon of rice. I got the vampire tacos which was good, however, I didn't know the beans would be on top of the rice.... I kinda wish they were separated because I typically don't eat beans on top of rice like that. All of which are better than the average chain restaurant. Service was so accommodating, friendly, and attentive. This place is great for an after work hangout with co workers or for date night with your significant other. 10/10 times I'll order the poke nachos because they are my favorite thing to snack on while drinking a couple of beers. There salty, sweet, and slightly spicy. I always get a little sauce on the side for dipping. As far as service goes, I've never had a negative experience here. I always feel welcomed and right at home. The beer and cider selections take up most of the menu so there's a beer for everyone. This visit i went with the Ahi poke nachos, if you're a fan of sushi or poke bowls I definitely recommend. Good crispy breading on great quality chicken, I recommend the lemon pepper flavor & the sweet chili. While we were seated quickly our server took quite a while to make an appearance. We had already ordered on the app on the table by the time she came around. We ordered MANY appetizers - including pizzas, dip, wings, & chicken lettuce wraps. The chicken lettuce wraps were meh and everything else was so much less than meh. We were so disappointed.
