We also ordered the smores, which was a really fun experience and just sweet enough to have with our drinks. Our server was really kind, and it was busy so the service was a little slow, but overall, we still had a good time. Sweet joint on 30th. The ciders are delicious and I really appreciate having a dedicated cidery taproom so close to the heart of SD. The food is wonderful, and I was able eat comfortably as a gluten free person. They maximize the seating in the quaint space and the patio is cute. The interior design is fun and outdoorsy. Yes, you can go in and sample any ones that are on tap. Can versions for on the go and tap for sit-and-sip... obviously the tap version is amazing and more expensive. They have two areas (General Store + Adventure Lodge)... The General Store reminding me of a cafe/lounge with natural tones of cream and tan ambiance and then the other side, The Adventure Lodge, that's black and dark which is their bar. Either side you can order espresso, food, drinks. :: SERVICE :: Honestly, I've been in both areas and prefer The General Store because their service was EXCEPTIONAL with good customer service and better vibes, etc. there compared to the bar where the only customer service received is when they take your order or drop of your bill. I rejected because I don't like wasting food like that and said I'll take them and eat them. These fries were delicious and very garlic, but was craving plain fries. Fries were nice and crispy, fried perfectly, salted and seasoned with garlic perfectly. HIGHLY RECOMMEND if you are not eating it with something also flavorful. CHIMMICHURRI MEATBALLS ($16) - 5 meatballs laying ontop of a pool of oil/grease (no dipping sauce of any sort). The meatballs were beef, potatoes, and chimmichurri. Flavor was flavorful but nothing amazing and just ok. Not worth the money in my opinion. You can taste the seasoning and chimmichurri in the meatball but I felt like something was missing but can't quite put my finger on it. I'd definitely will be back for mainly the ciders. It has a hiking theme so even towards the bathroom they have these hiking activities and then they have a dj playing music from time to time. Great place to get work down, socialize, or chill. FOOD/DRINKS: San Diego Jam Mixed Berry (Recommend) This hit the spot. Tart yet sweet, fruity but balanced -- a total summer mood. Gave me a light buzz and left me feeling refreshed and happy. Bivouac Cider Works in North Park is one of the easiest four-star reviews I'll ever write. The atmosphere here is absolutely pitch perfect. I came in on a Saturday night when the cider house was about to close, but no worries...the restaurant next door was still open and buzzing. Service was quick and friendly and they allowed us to chill for a bit even after door closed. It was just my group of three and another couple relaxing, playing chess, and sipping their drinks. I was in the mood for cider, and this place definitely delivered. I had the pineapple pear cider, which hit the spot, but my friends went for the MVP and honestly... the name says it all. It's everything you want from a cider. It was everything that a cider should be... like you just stumbled upon a leprechaun frolicking in the fields.. or something like that They offer draft ciders and canned options, along with cocktails and beer at the restaurant. Most of their food choices are vegan or vegetarian, with a few meat options thrown in. It's clear this place is thoughtfully and intentionally designed. The furniture is cozy, the decor is on point, and the motivational sayings on the walls are the kind of empowering vibe you want to take home with you. Overall, it's just a warm, inviting spot. They even have a storefront where you can grab merch or other goodies for your home. It's a real hidden gem in the community, and I can definitely see myself coming back. The only downside? We have frequented Bivouac over the last couple of years and introduced friends to the place. They impressed us with their delicious ciders and equally tasty food selection. Friday evening was a disappointment. Service was slow and disorganized (we weren't sure who our server was because we had four different people taking our order and delivering items). The food was unimpressive. The menu has changed removing a favorite appetizer (whipped feta and veggies), but food offerings do change. We ordered the polenta tots as an appetizer. Previously it has been great, but we never found out as our main courses arrived before the appetizer--in spite of specifically asking the bartender/server to please ensure that the app came first and that the mains should not come out until we'd had time to enjoy it. Not to be: the mains came out first with barely an acknowledgement that they'd failed to comply with the request. (No apology offered.) I had Pollo Asado tacos. They were dry, lacking in flavor, and the side sauce was unappealing. My wife had a salad that was both small and not good tasting. At no point did the staff check to see if the food was satisfactory (I would have had another cider had someone bothered to check on us) and we ended up going to the bar to cancel the appetizer. I'm saddened to see a place that we liked, that had good food and service turn in such a weak performance. I doubt we will return, and if we do, it will be for the ciders only, which are still good. read more

Amazing amazing place! My friend took me here when I was visiting even though we don't like ciders she vouch that I would because she already had stopped in. We met the owner and she was so kind and the server was patient and went through each ciders with us. It turns out I really like ciders and the jam one I think it's called was my favorite. I need some sent to Texas ! The place is such a cool concept with the distillate and bar connected, a cafe, a work space and a boutique shop. Such a great concept. This place is so cute! 7/5 on atmosphere, with great music, warm temperature despite having the door open to the street, a Pac-Man table, and a tiny marketplace with merchandise. Friendly staff too! I think I actually had tried Bivouac in the past but it was more than a couple years ago and I don't remember it too much because of that. However, I went here recently with a girlfriend and we really enjoyed it! Our waiter/bartender was the sweetest and extremely pleasant. He went over our menu and cider options in terms of whether we wanted full pours or flights and also briefly went over the food menu. We were coming from brunch at a different spot so we weren't too hungry but we definitely enjoyed two different flights EACH. Lol so in total, my girlfriend were able to try about 5-6 different ciders and they were all light, refreshing, and delicious. Didn't think we were going to get so boozy that day, but we did and we had fun doing so at Bivouac. Definitely need to come again and try out a couple of the cocktails and their actual food because I didn't realize it is Filipino fusion inspired, and being Filipino myself, that is super intriguing. Great casual option for pre-dinner drinks. We asked to sit outside and split a cider flight and patatas bravas. Service was quick and friendly, and sitting outside in the patio space allowed us to people watch. I was a big fan of the strawberry yuzu in the R&D section as it was sweet and refreshing. TL;DR amazing rustic decor with equally amazing new American-style food to match I came here on a weekday to hang out with some friends and was recommended by the attendant in their adjoining coworking space that the chicken sandwiches were the choice to make and it definitely didn't disappoint. Keeping it short and simple, I rarely ever crave new American cuisine since it's a hit or miss and some are good but most are mediocre with a price tag that isn't palatable, however, Bivouac was a clear exception The chicken sandwich was great, it was juicy and tender on the inside with a nice crispy exterior. The bun was lightly toasted inside and the cheese paired with the arugula and pickled onions were a blissful pair. The pickled onions cut through the fattiness and the arugula added a nice slightly bitter flavor contrast that I enjoyed Food aside, the decor was also well aligned with there themed location next door, the seating we had was a swing in a c-shape and moved all the c-shaped bench together which added a bit of thrill. It felt similar to a childhood experience and felt like one of those swings you'd have in your grandparent's yard or something similar Overall the setting and food were something I would come back to, if the interior was the only hallmark of this place I would likely not come back but the food from everyone I was with seemed to suit their taste buds well and equally fill everyone up read more

I was a bit disappointed overall. The menu online did not match the menu in the restaurant, which was frustrating because I had really been looking forward to the hot honey grilled chicken sandwich I had enjoyed before. I ended up ordering the crispy chicken sandwich instead. Paying an extra dollar to make it spicy just meant buffalo sauce was added on top, making it more tangy than spicy. The chicken patty was much too small for the bread, and for the price it honestly reminded me of fast food, except Popeyes would have been better. My wife ordered the Mediterranean wrap, which was surprisingly small for a sixteen dollar dish and was missing ingredients listed on the menu. Overall, the food felt overpriced for both the quality and portion size. Service was mediocre at best. The bar was not busy, yet three bartenders were standing at the end of the bar and were not very attentive. As it got busier when we were leaving, one person seemed overwhelmed while others had disappeared. The staff did not come across as particularly professional or welcoming. On a positive note, the ciders are well priced during happy hour and genuinely very good. Biv is one of my favorite neighborhood spots not just because of the service (s/o to Daniel / Jonny / Luke / Joe / Camille) but because of the consistency in their food and bev quality. I prefer my drinks on the drier / less sweet side so the Albright is my go-to for cider and Glamping for a cocktail. Their cider menu features a rotating R&D section too, which I appreciate because I get FOMO and always need to get a flight to try any new flavors that come out. Let's talk about food now. They have a wide menu selection, super human and animal friendly. Some favorites are the Local Honey Roasted Carrots (they are GENEROUS with the pistachios, which is crazy. In this economy?), Three-Cheese Grilled Cheese, Fancy Fries obviously, Polenta Tots,... y'all I'm not even vegetarian.
