A great meal and the place is ran by friendly folks. They were welcoming to our dog as well. I think we just found a good spot for chicken & waffles in town. I'm really pleased with this spot. I went in the late morning so it was fairly empty which was also nice. Brian helped my friend and I out. We wanted to go halfsies on an OG chicken sandwich and the mom n pop breakfast platter with no potatoes, extra eggs. He suggested we just get the double slider deal instead of the sandwich because it's easier to split in half and eat since they used two tenders on the sandwich instead of one big filet. The food came out and everything looked and tasted perfect. I like that the chicken wasn't overly breaded, overly cooked, or overly crunchy. It was the perfect amount of crunch and tenderness. What we loved about the chicken it was nice and tender and the egg wasn't over powering perfect balance. We came on a Wednesday morning but I hear the weekends are busy. For being the only ones there the food took a little long but we had time to kill. The price was around $20 for the sandwich with potatoes and $3 for a soda. The gentleman that welcomed us was very polite and accommodating. I was first introduced to Moms Chicken and Waffles when she was in Pacific Beach. I am glad to see that she has continued the ritual here in North Park with their terrific fried chicken tenders. In lieu of waffles and chicken tenders this time around, I went for the OG chicken sandwich for $15.99. The sandwich came with a juicy and seriously well fried pair of plump chicken tenders. Not only was it crispy and juicy, but it was well seasoned. Well done! The sandwich came on a lightly toasted soft brioche bun with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, with mayo and chipotle sauce. The combination of ingredients and flavors was delicious. They are located inside the U31Bar of North Park, San Diego. There is plenty of seating inside and on the outside patio. My husband and I arrived at 7:30pm on a Friday night, note that Mom's serve food until 9pm. As other reviews have noted and I am in agreement - this is not a restaurant this is absolutely a bar, and in my opinion, not appropriate for children during the the evening hours of service. Parking was difficult, though the bar was not very busy at our arrival time. Orders are taken from a walk-up window within the bar, and then your food is delivered to your table. Tonight was comedy night, which we watched for a bit - and I have to say we found it entertaining. We placed our order for the chicken and waffles - (because that is what we specifically came for), and seated ourselves outside on the patio. The fried chicken was very good, nice crispy coating and very moist inside - we would rate the chicken a 5! However, the waffles (dusted in powdered sugar) and the syrup are nothing to write home about. We wanted to try the bacon waffles, but they were out. The syrup is literally commercially produced and served in a sealed plastic cup (like something you would find on an airline... or in a bar) - not special or homemade. We rated the waffles a 3 and the syrup a 1. The comedy show we rated as a 4.5 ;-). If we return, it will be all about the fried chicken, possibly try a different chicken menu option... their fries looked good too, but cannot review at this time. read more

They have a nice area in the back outdoors, but we opted to sit inside at the high tops. The plate takes a bit to make which I didn't mind. Everything came out hot and fresh and oh so yummy! The chicken and waffle came with 2 buttermilk chicken tenders, a bacon infused Belgian waffle, and butter, and syrup. The waffle could be crispier, but the chicken was huge and tender. My favorite was was the chicken fries though! There were little pieces of fried chicken on top with my sauce choice- honey sriracha! It had a sweet, yet spicy flavor and was very addicting. The proprietors of a fried chicken joint that used to operate in PB have relocated the business inside U-31 in North Park. Mom's Chicken & Waffle (not plural) is now the food service arm of this neighborhood bar. There was a sidewalk sign indicating its presence within U-31, however if you aren't following on social media, then most customers would be unaware of this change. When I walked in, I approached a bartender to try and place an order. She redirected me to a small stand located on the opposite side. That was where a worker from Mom's Chicken & Waffle was accepting orders. Most of the menu offerings were the same as in the previous location where the business name was different. Two pages featured categories of chicken and waffles, chicken sandwiches and tenders, burgers and hot dogs, shareable appetizers, and sides. I selected the Trio Slider Flight which was priced just under $20. A crispy tender was served on a brioche bun topped with tomato and a fried pickle. The sauce choices were buffalo, mango habanero, original, honey sriracha, and spicy chipotle aioli. I picked the middle three for my set of sliders. An order number was provided after I paid. I sat down at a high-top table to wait for my food which was brought to me in about 15 minutes. I took the take-out container home where I consumed the sliders. The buns were very soft and pillowy. The tomato slices were large and matched or exceeded the diameter of the buns. The fried pickle was missing as none of the sliders had that ingredient. The tenders were crispy although the size was small compared to some hot chicken shops. Of the three sauces, the honey sriracha had the best flavor profile with its sweet heat. Perhaps one of the four variations of chicken and waffles would have been a better choice? For the chicken sliders, the quality for the price was average. I gave a 3.5 star rating for my take-out experience at Mom's Chicken & Waffle. read more
