The truth! I was skeptical to go here because the last review posted was over 8 months ago but I needed oxtail! I ordered oxtail and an esco snapper. The oxtail was just what I wanted, tender, full of flavor and authentic. Exactly what I was craving for! Not at all disappointed. The rice and peas was also real tasty! The seafood here is made to order and thats a + for me, It was only a 12 minute wait that was worth it! The fish was well cleaned and very well seasoned. They have managed to have me hooked! This is a family favourite! Everyone from grandmother to my six year old nephew looks forward to eating there. Breakfasts are delicious as is the jerk turkey (we order ours every year from there since it opened)! Great place with even better food! read more

I've been here before but only for a veggie patty. I didn't know they had veggie soy chunks until I read Melba's review above. I bought the stewed chunks and it came with red beans and rice, veggies and plantains. They gave me a large portion which I shared with my mom and she loved it. we are both fans! read more

Today I ordered jerk chicken and when I got home I was disappointed. It was more like baked chicken and it didn't have any flavor. I called Yards because I thought maybe they mixed up my order. They said to bring it back so they can take a look. When I returned the cashier looked at my order and said that's jerk chicken. I said well may I change my order to something else, she said no. The manager of the establishment just said some people don't like their chicken spicy so that's how they make it. I didn't ask for spicy but jerk chicken should have flavor. It's a hit or miss with the cooking one day you go the oxtail seasoning changes like it's jerk ox tail they need to be consistent with the chef that cooking .great bang for you buck when ordering a dish. I would recommend it for a quick takeout dinner or lunch. read more

Horrible customer service! After charging my card $14.50, i decided to add a slice of cake for $3.50 and was told $10 minimum...the cashier made no attempt to cancel the sale and accommodate my purchase request in addition to givibg me an attitude. I asked for a manager who obliged. If my wife didn't want that cake i would have taken my business elsewhere. I will not go back because of their POOR service and disgusting attitudes. Just wanted to say since my first visit I had a vegetarian's version of soya chunks run down and it was so good. I am sad to be so far away from Yardies but when I am in town I will be back. Its tough to get tasty options for vegetarians especially in the most unexpected places. Yardies is so accommodating and so flavorful. The run down chunks are not part of their regular menu (I don't think) but don't be afraid to ask to them to try something new they really know what great service is about. Maybe next time I will ask for jerk soya chunks and I'm sure I will not be disappointed. read more

Went to Yardies on Friday and there was only 3 ppl in there including me. One of the customer was checking out and another placed her order and was waiting to pay for her food. I asked the guy behind the register can i order because he was just standing there and there were 2 young ladies working(bagging food) he said as soon as the lady in front of me pays. Then he proceeds to take a phone call and was running the entire menu off to the person. Needless to say i walked out. I do not find them to be friendly or professional. I should have asked for the manager. This is the 3rd time i have gone there and i will never go back. There are several other Jamaican restaurants i can go to. read more

My daughter and sisters love this place. I love the fact that they have a family deal that includes a large soda. I enjoyed their breakfast their salt that fish cook up is really tasty. The rice and peas with oxtail gravy on top is to die for. It says that they deliver but they don't. Every time I call them to ask for delivery they say they don't deliver. I wish that they did sometimes I don't feel like walking all the way over there. read more

The staff was pleasant today and the overall experience was fine until I came home. One of my plates was missing and after spending 60 dollars, that's not ok. I decided to call the restaurant. At first the phone just rang. So I called back. A girl answered and as I started to talk and explain that something was missing...silence. Hello...hello... she must have hung up on me. I called back numerous times over the span of 20 minutes...busy. While on hold, I started eating...not worth the time. I don't want the additional plate. The oxtails were not well flavored. My daughter says Golden Krust tastes better and I agree. I'll cut my losses :-(. read more

Great food. Courteous staff. Tried their Jerk Turkey this year for the first time. Very good. Apparently only 100 of these turkeys are prepared annually, in time for the Thanksgiving holidays. It is therefore advised that one orders at least a month ahead. read more

I've been going here for a few months now and it's now my go to place for Jamaican food. The best part about t their food is that it is always fresh! The food is delicious of course and the portions and prices are good. In addition to the meals, they make great soup, garden salads, potato salad, macaroni pie, and other options that I haven't tried yet. Their service is always quick and they are polite! Cabbage is unseasoned. Plantain was small, hard and dry. Rice wasn't anything special. I enjoyed the jerk chicken the most.

The worst ever I would never ever go back the service was horrible I got home and had the wrong order I called she said nothing they can do I asked to speak to a manager who said the girl said I changed my mind and he don't know what to do how you a manager and don't know what to do to top it off he hung up on me and the food was horrible they should close this place down a waste of time and money don't bother . read more

0 stars!! Decided to order pick up from this establishment yesterday. Failure, to say the least. To start, the prices the woman at the register attempted to charge me ARE NOT the same as the prices on the Yelp menu. Which is just a picture today their ACTUAL menu, btw. I order jerk shrimp and broccoli that's says it comes with a side plus tax. The side I wanted was rice and peas. After waiting 30 minutes I went to retrieve my order. Instead of the reflected price a very nasty and unprofessional woman tried to charge me an extra $1.50. When I inquired about the increase of price she replied, " Go find me the menu you saw because you're wrong"! I politely pulled out my phone and pulled up the picture with the correct price. Instead of adjusting it, she says I can take it or leave it, at the increased price. Then she says my side is not included with my meal and that it will cost me an additional $3.75. For a small carton of rice?!?! Instead of the $12.50+tax advertised, it was now totaled at $18.00! I had her leave off the side. She said people usually have no problem paying separately. I give up at this point. Pay and leave. Will never be ordering from this poor establishment again! And the food was extremely under seasoned. read more

Terrible service, Waited 2+ hours for my food. Was told 10 mins for delivery on the phone not to mention being put on hold 4 times to make the order. Plus $8 for a delivery fee if you dont live near-by is crazy. Called back and spoke to the manager, who kindly apolozgized for the inconvenience. I ordered a mini oxtail with beans. Very poor service. I placed my order for curry chicken and white rice, and a drink. The total came up to $9.75. I hand the cashier my card and she tells me that the minimum is $10 for charge. I said ok..., it's only a $0.25 difference. She repeats, the minimum is $10. I asked for an exception, she repeats, the minimum is $10. So with frustration I tell the lady to charge the $10. I look around the store to see if they have a sign that displays minimum of $10 for charge. I find nothing. After she processed my card, I asked the girl, where in the store does it say the minimum is $10 for charge? She repeats, the minimum is $10 sir, like a broken record. I said, I only know that because you told me that, but WHERE in the store does it say that so customer know before you ring up the order? The girl goes our customers already know the minimum is $10. I said to the girl that I'm not a regular customer, and communication is important to have a satisfy customers. I will not be going here again, and I will share this horrible experience with the members of my church that is near by. Sucks that I can't support another one of our own. read more

I wanted a chicken patty. In this neck of the woods I would normally go to Buffy Patty, but since I was pumping gas across the street from Yardies I decided to go there instead. I walk in and there were two women behind the register. They greet me, I ask if they have chicken patties and they said yes. So far this is going good. I ask if they have coco bread they say yes, and it goes downhill from there. I ask how much and its $3. OK, I'll take it. I can see the patties but I can't see the coco bread. I pay one of the women, and after taking my money, she walks over to the patties with this greasy paper bag. I ask what's in the bag to which she responds it's the coco bread. I asked why the bag was so greasy. This time they both answer "It was in the microwave." Maybe they thought if they both responded it would make sense? I couldn't help but ask why the coco bread was in the microwave. Again, they both respond, "it was in the fridge so it's cold." OK, what restaurant microwaves bread? Better yet, where is the microwave because I didn't see it. Everyone knows microwaved bread gets HARD! Isn't that learned in food prep 101? The fact that the microwave was hidden was a clear indication that they knew they were doing something they shouldn't. I told her I didn't want the coco bread. A guy who was waiting to order said I'll take it. Perfect! Now can I have my dollar back? She responded sure but took FOREVER to give it to me. I understand Yardies is a restaurant not a bakery and I may be spoiled by eating patties from Tropical House Baking Co in Brooklyn where the coco bread is baked fresh, but really? Who puts bread in the microwave? Shame on Yardies. read more
