I just want to also say that i notice the last two reviews that were posted about this establishment and i must say that its a HUGE lie. We ended up waiting nearly an hour for our food. Unfortunately, the food quality was just as disappointing as the service. The peas and rice were dry and had a strange taste. The sweet plantains were dry and not sweet at all. The worst part was the jerk chicken--it appeared undercooked, with red pieces inside, and it was chewy and bland. I even posted a picture. Finally stopped by this restaurant I been seeing it for almost 2 years. We went around 6 on a Sunday it wasn't busy at all. They were very friendly & welcoming. We ordered jerk chicken & oxtails. Both meals were really good. And we had enough for lunch the next day. We got peach margaritas & passion fruit margaritas. It was supposed to be frozen but it wasn't the typical frozen we are used to but they were okay. I would recommend you try them out. read more

Ok where do I begin, first off service was extremely bad. The item kitchen concept which i thought would of been great was quickly met with disappointment as the table was very dirty and the chairs was wet with liquor. Upon informing a staff member of this, we were given paper towel to clean it up instead of it being done for us.... very distasteful. I would of thought the food would of made up for it but oxtails was as hard rocks... did yall even cook this... needless to say we simple asked for just the meal to be recooked and was told there will be an additional charge. We started by asking for drink recommendations, and he was honest, detailed, and spot-on with his suggestions. I went with the Kulture Klash, and it did not disappoint, a bold ginger-forward drink with just the right touch of pineapple. (Fair warning for those not too big on ginger, it's got a kick!) For lunch, I ordered the oxtail and my partner had the jerk chicken, both were absolutely packed with flavor but perfectly balanced. Each dish came with rice and peas, steamed veggies, and sweet plantains. The ox tail was fall off the bone soft and tender. The jerk chicken wasn't too spicy, had just enough kick that made it enjoyable to eat. The sauces... the flavor... everything was amazing. The food was good. I had enough for two meals. Disappointed I had to pay $1 for gravy on the rice and then they barely put any gravy on it. & had to pay $1 extra for plaintain instead of vegetables. Came here after seeing great reviews on social media on a random Thursday with a friend. I was a little hesitant because it was empty inside, but the owners were so welcoming that we decided to stay. Came here since I wanted jamaican food at a place that has a nice interior as I was the mood to eat in. After sifting through some options I gradually came upon this place since the reviews were generous and the pictures looked nice. Came in and immediately noticed how much smaller it seemed in person than in the picture, which isn't a huge deal. Ended up ordering the jerk chicken wings, the ox tail and the brown stewed chicken. Jerk chicken wings here were phenomenal, loved the concept and the flavor here was done perfectly as it had all the jerk flavor to it with a hit of a sweet bbq glaze, this was unfortunately the only high note of the restaurant. Next ordered the oxtail which had way too much oregano, sauce was too watery and overall was not as flavorful as I'm used to at other places. The brown stewed chicken was bland and dry as well. The nickeling and diming here was also incredibly unwarranted and frankly appaling, as i paid a dollar extra for two plantain slivers. The biggest kicker was the price here, at 82 dollars I did not think the quality here warranted such a huge premium, especially since there are so many options around this part of town. While the presentation here is better than alot of other local spots the food quality and their business practices leave alot to be desired read more

We stopped by this neighborhood on our way to a concert and we were blown away by this new restaurant! The Caribbean food was really delicious- the flavors were deep and intense and we nearly drank the oxtail sauce. Unfortunately, not all the menu items were available, but we got to try things we never had before. I'm not Caribbean, so I can't attest to the food authenticity, but I definitely enjoyed the meal. Fried chicken with rice and peas, cabbage and plantain 6/10 Fried chicken with excess breading almost as if it was fried twice, seasoned well. Rice and peas had hints of ginger which was fine, cabbage definitely was not fresh. May have been reheated from day before. And plantain was fine. Rum Punch was good. My friend had saltfish fritters. Made fresh but for an appetizer they were good pretty big as when you would make them at home. She had brown stew chicken with rice and peas and cabbage. The chicken had tons of gravy. There is not too much seating inside, a decent amount for individuals or pairs, but only a couple of tables for 4. There is a QR code on the table to scan for you to order and pay through the web, or you can order with the friendly staff. The food is flavorful and juicy, and the sweet sauce is tangy and light. I was going to a show at the UBS arena and I love getting dinner and drinks before a show. I was looking for something in the area. We went to another establishment initially and while waiting around with out being updated on the actual wait time we called Cookerz and were informed there was no wait. We walked the few blocks down and were seated immediately. There was only one other person at the bar. I really thought I was on vacation in Jamaica. The paint colors, the dj (playing HITS!), and the ceiling.. just the entire vibe. I hesitated drinking the water with ice because I forgot were I was lol we viewed the menu using the QR code on the table (we were able to pay using that as well). We let the gentleman know we were in a bit of a rush and he took our orders and confirmed everything before going to work on our drinks. He gave suggestions and was pleasant and personable. I ordered the escovitch fish tacos, rum punch, and French fries. The tacos came with 3, the fries were crispy, flavorful and hot. The rum punch was a hefty serving and it was tasty and delicious. It was strong but truly tasted like punch. My friends ordered the jerk chicken tacos, oxtail, fried chicken with oxtail gravy, rice and peas, steamed veggies, and passion fruit margaritas. Everything was tasty and a good portion size. There were no complaints. They brought everything out in a timely fashion and we didn't hear any "we nuh 'ave dat". lol A few people came in to pick up to go orders and about 2 more people came in by the bar but it was really low key for a Friday night. I'm eating it as we speak but only because my order came up to $60 for two meals, a soda and a fruit punch. Oxtail with rice and peas - oxtail is extremely hard and dry and sort of shriveled up - weird. The rice tastes so burnt! Omg, like they scraped the bottom of the pot. And the festival? Inedibly salty. I'll stick to Golden Krust or OG's next time - both much more solid options. read more

1st: owner was very welcoming and gave very good advise on things to order, although he's a seafood person and although enjoy seafood, I love jerk chicken. Now the rice and peas I switched up for some quinoa and peas and must say, with the oxtail gravy you are going to really enjoy. The cabbage was cooked really well. Maybe garlic or something with it but it really stood out. Yes, cabbage stood out. Now as for the jerk, ladies and gentlemen I won't say it's the best in town but the only other that I rate as good or maybe a slight bit better (questionable) is Islands. But, and finally but, the recommended pineapple juice with ginger literally complimented the meal perfectly and it may have took it too the #1 jerk spot in the City and if not, again its on point with islands. Went for the first time to pick up some oxtail w/ rice n' peas...delish! I must say. Hats off to the cook! But, one tiny complaint...asked for a side of plantain with the meal and was told it would be $1 xtra. I said OK - when I opened my meal at home, there were only 3- 1 1/2" long slices of plantain...certainly worth LESS than $1...that saddened me because I actually know how to cook this food, just didn't feel like it this day. Anyway, I think this new establishment has a lot of potential...just needs a few tweaks. Oh, and that cement stump coming into the front door of the restaurant really needs to be repaired. This place popped up when we were searching for a group lunch spot to celebrate my nephew's graduation. We a reservation for 10 and arrived on time but they were not yet prepared for us. It doesn't look like much when you walk up, but the family vibe was sweet. They quickly put together some tables so that we could sit as a group, even added an extra table when an 11th person joined our group. The man who appeared to be in charge was sweet and attentive, as was the waiter but the waitress had a crappy attitude. The food took a bit and was mostly delicious, although some people's food was underseasoned (salmon) and undercooked (jerk chicken).
