Went to Hush for a gathering of friends. It was last minute because it was supposed to be outdoors somewhere else but it was raining so they moved it to Hush. I'm assuming the hostess didn't like that because we were all at the bar. There was no space so I was by the high tables. I didn't sit but was standing & the lady came to tell me that I can't sit because it's reserved. I said no worries I'm not sitting I'm just standing. She says ℓℓ will you move when they come I said of course. I feel like she was itching for them to come cuz she came & said you can move now . We were searching for a brunch spot, trying two other places first, but Hush was the winner! The first place was full, and the other required reservations. We walked into Hush and were seated immediately. We were offered outdoor seating, but it was hot, so we opted for the cool AC inside. The ambiance is great - dark, polished wood floors, modern decor, and tables spaced out so you don't feel too close to people. It's a little dark inside. We ordered Shrimp and Grits, and the grits had delicious gravy. I had Steak and Eggs with potatoes. The steak was cooked perfectly with a nice char, and my eggs were scrambled. The potatoes had sauteed onions and peppers, so good! The food presentation was excellent, and I enjoyed everything! The coconut rum punch was strong and delicious. The service was outstanding! I came to Hush yesterday evening to meet up with my friend for dinner to catch up. First of all, I must say that this restaurant & lounge has a nice ambience inside. Very clean, initimate, and AC was on which is a plus for these hot NYC / LI summers. My friend and I decided to sit in the outside area in the back. This is where the DJ was set up and he was playing good tunes all night. Now let's get to the food. I ordered the Hush Pasta Rasta with shrimp which tasted great. My friend had a vegetarian pasta dish that she enjoyed as well. For drinks, our waitress suggested the Coco Crazy Rum Punch. I'm so happy I followed her suggestion because that drink was really good. The Jerk Chicken was hot and spicy, but delicious and filling. My codfish fritters were also delicious, but needed a little more salt, in my opinion. Our server, Kareem, was efficient, quiet not pushy and knowledgeable. We got there a little after 4. The lounge was empty except for three ladies at the bar. By the time we left, about an hour and a half later, the crowd was ambling in. The music wasn't intrusive. You could hear yourself talk. This lounge is classy with a sports bar angle. TVs were on . The lighting was intimate, impressive if you're on a date. It's Elmont. So expect parking challenges, depending on when you go. The bathroom was clean. I loved the deep sink. Last minute food grab turned bad!!! My boyfriend and I wanted to step out have a drink and small bite. For drinks he ordered a top shelf Long Island Iced Tea and I ordered a glass of Merlot. My wine was horrible I mean very cheap wine not to mention the first glass I was given was very dirty. I had to send it back to be cleaned. We both decided to get a burger each his beef mine PLANT BASED! He asked for no sauce on his burger and wanted to add cheese, I asked for cheese also. It took over 20+ minutes for his burger to have sauce on it that he asked to be removed because of the mayo. When we asked if the sauce had mayo we were told "No" I so asked if it was made in house and was told "No". However the kitchen has an opening you can see what they are doing and I watched him add this store brought chipotle sauce that has mayo on the burger. Not cool! My burger was a mushy VEGGIE patty not a plant based burger the difference is simple plant based is beyond or impossible it resembles a real burger not a veggie patty. It also came with no cheese. I returned it and will not be returning. Lying to customers is not ok! Also no one came over to see what the issue was and if it could handled differently I left without eating at all. read more

Yesterday 5 friends/coworkers went here for our usually hangout. We all drive pass this spot pretty much daily and no one thought about going there til I suggested it. I made a reservation on their website the day before and it's easy to navigate. They send you an email confirmation and someone calls from the restaurant the day of to confirm we were still coming. We got there at 5 and it was pretty quiet; just few other patrons inside. They escorted us to our table which had a reserved sign on it . The restaurant is pretty big and they have an outdoor as well. They had the music going. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the service started off a little slow l. Our drinks and appetizers took like 20 mins to come out. The apps actually came before the drinks. Our server was Kay and she was good! We might've traumatized her a little bit lol but she went right along with us and it was all in good fun! Drinks: I had the hush queen royal and the rest of the guys had the $7 rum punch, hush blue sunset, and peach margarita from the happy hour menu (Monday-Friday 4-7pm I believe). We were all happy with our drinks because everyone ordered refills of the same thing. We also got shots of casamigo reposado at the end ($15 each). Food: the wings were really good! Especially the Buffalo and it's on the happy hour menu for $7. The codfish fritters are good as well. I got the hush curry seafood for my entree and it was soo good! My friend had heard about this new restaurant, so we decided to check it out. We came here on Saturday around 6-630 & decided to get dinner. For appetizers we had the crab cakes & jumbo shrimp. The crab cakes were good & the jumbo shrimp was delicious. We had coconut on top of the shrimp, which they like fried or sautéed the coconut so it was crispy & just perfect. For an entree my friend had the salmon (curry coconut) & I tried the snapper (curry coconut). The entrees didn't come with sides unfortunately, but my friend & I both picked the mac & cheese (very cheesy & good) & steamed vegetables. I feel like for entrees that's between $22-$26 should come with two sides, because if you do the math, my snapper was $25 or $26 than adding on a side that was $7 & $8 I spent $40 for my entree which is moderate prices on the higher side. We also had drinks, which were fine. Overall the food was good & the waitress was attentive. The restaurant had only two people sitting at the bar (who didn't order food) & later another party of four came in. For the restaurant to be empty, it did take quite awhile for our food to come out, but the food was good. 5 of us went to Hush on Friday to get some drinks and hookah. We sat in the back in the enclosed courtyard. I think the restaurant could use an update to improve the look and feel. When we got there it wasn't crowded but it did fill up. The service was horrendous. The server took our order but didn't ever check on us. The hookah was good. My drink however was lacking flavor. My sister and I shared an appetizer platter that had wings, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, and French fries. The platter was really good. We ordered two rounds of shots which took long to come out. Towards the end, a belly dancer came around to everyone's table and danced with her costume that lit up. That was fun! I wouldn't go back.
