Since I was heading over to LI, I decided to make a quick stop to pick up my yummy double. However to my disappointment, they ran out of the dough so I needed to wait roughly 20 mins for them to whip up a new batch. With all that said, I opted for their aloo pie and asked that they include their chickpea filling and all the yummy condiments that goes along with it because I just love adding spice to my life. I also added additional oxtail to flavor up this massive delight and oh delight it was. My aloo pie was the bomb. The dough was crispy outside and yet chewy to the bite. It was full of flavor, warmed, and satisfaction. Perhaps I was hungry because my aloo pie was devoured within a 7 min time frame. My only qualm though is the fattiness of the oxtail. It had a ring of fat around it which I discarded so there was not much meat left. Overall, I was please with my order and can see myself coming back here again. I was very disappointed with my experience at Roti Hut today July 11th 2026 @ 7:58pm.. I stopped in to purchase a roti at 7:58pm and noticed two orders of pholourie on the counter. I asked the cashier if they were available for purchase, and she told me they were. Less than a minute later, another woman walked in, called the cashier by name, and asked if the orders were hers. The cashier immediately replied, "Yes," even though she had just told me they were available for me to buy. The situation was confusing and made me feel misled. If the orders had already been reserved for another customer, I would have appreciated being told that from the start. Clear and honest communication goes a long way in providing good customer service. I enjoy supporting your local businesses, but experiences like this are disappointing and leave a negative impression. I hope Roti Hut improves its customer service and communication so future customers don't have a similar experience. i will look for another Roti spot to spend my money fi this is the way you manage your customers. read more

What a great find!!! I had a mad craving for Doubles but didn't want to drive 40 minutes to get to Trinciti or Singh's Roti (my usual go-to for Doubles). After a quick Yelp search, I found D Roti Hut, and off I went! On this visit, I got a few Doubles "with everything" to go. While waiting for them to make my Doubles, I saw that they had an enormous array of cooked food in their steam tables. Their curry goat was calling my name, and I got an order to go. Doubles: I got their Vegetarian Double ($1.50 each), which comes with curried chick peas. You can customize it with whatever condiments you want. I always ask them to make it "with everything" and spicy. For me, this is the only way to have them! (Note: you can also get other fillings instead of chick peas, like curry goat, curry beef, curry chicken, etc). Honestly, the Doubles at Trinciti and Singh's Roti are slightly better, but D Roti Hut's version was pretty good also! I would definitely return since they're closer to home than the other places. These Doubles hit the spot and satisfied my craving! Curried Goat w.Rice & side of choice (potatoes or chick peas). This platter was only $14, and packed with goat! The goat was very flavorful and fall-off- the-bone good! Recommended! Looking forward to a return visit to try their other entrees....and of course, more Doubles! read more

My brother got a recommendation from a mutual friend of ours on this place and let me tell you they didn't disappoint. I ordered a tray of chicken fried rice, chicken lowmein and pholourie for a birthday party. My guests enjoyed the authentic homestyle Guyanese taste of everything. The woman who took my order over the phone was very helpful and polite and the staff in the restaurant were also very friendly. My only complaint is that I do think it was a bit pricey but we did get great tasting food and I would definitely return to try some of their other dishes. read more

Great place. When you walk in you are filled with delicious aromas. The food all looks delicious. I had a salt fish sandwich and coffee. Hit the spot. The fish was sautéed with a mix of crunchy veggies and a sauce that had a small kick (I said only a little spice). The sandwich in a fresh flatbread and the total meal a savory and satisfying fix. The double was freshly made, the chick peas had a depth of flavor between the corriander, tamarind and the sweet chutney. There was a bit of a wait as the oerson before me bought a large order of doubles and roti. I had 2 doubles, witha a passion fruit juice and i cannot wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. While visiting a friend in New York, I was asked what I missed most about the area, and it was doubles. There was a short line as soon as we walked in and when we got to the front the line had doubled in size. I wish the food were labeled to make ordering easier for someone unfamiliar with the food. I feel like I am part of the reason for the line as I had a few questions. That aside, the food hit the spot; I ordered some extra food on top of what I would eat for lunch, and the food was still excellent. It was so great that we went back for more the following day. Spices are so delicious! The food from here truly brings comfort. It is not overly salty but it is extremely flavorful. Customer service is excellent as well. It's a dark restaurant, needs more lighting. I saw this place on Instagram and decided to try it. My stewed chicken was seasoned well, it was also very spicy. I've never had spicy stewed chicken before. I just have a problem with my chicken being chopped up, you get everything from the rooter to the tooter on your plate. And you don't recognize the pieces, I had a back which is a waste because it has no meat, just the spine. The service is buffet, they plate your food to go. Few seats inside. We ate here twice on our trip to NY. It's a worthy detour to and from LA Guardia. The first trip I got the Dhal Puri Roti which is so tough to find in Detroit. It was the biggest most beautiful shell I've ever seen! I got the curry chicken also. The surprise favorite however was a pie filled with minced chicken and I dipped in the curry chicken gravy. So much flavor! My husband got the rice and peas with curry shrimp and curry beef. We left stuffed at a very low price! This food costs more in Detroit for less flavor and variety. Today we got aloo pies with added chicken and shrimp and added all the sauces. Again, amazing flavor and perfect heat. We sought out Ali's in the Bronx as well during our trip. The ambience could be as authentic as sitting in a roti shop in debe or chaguanas but if the food isn't good it just isn't good. We all have different tastes and opinions... being an expert in Trinidadian cuisine and having extensive experience and knowledge in actually cooking Trinidadian and West Indian dishes. All I can say after having purchased food twice this week ( Sunday ). Lentils and stewed chicken and white rice..( yes basic ). I had two doubles ... ( the bara itself is ok). And today Thursday. Sada roti ... full of flour and the put too much baking powder in the flour .... I also had tomato choka and curried cabbage with potato or (aloo). From those tastings and what I have observed... the food is mediocre at best.... The lentils were boiled.. absolutely no flavor ... the chicken was yesterdays chicken which they re heated .... And added water to it ... trust me I know. ... the filling for the doubles was horrid the tambrind sauce was bleh. Today the tomato choka was bland it's like they just boiled the tomato and didn't really strain the tomato well enough so you had a watery unflavored tomato "choka ". No onion garlic or pepper .... Not even an iota of flavor ... the curried cabbage was horrific.... The potato barely cooked... when the girl was dishing it out I had to tell her to "take out some of that water in it ) watery and no flavor . What I observed... they use that dark Guyanese curry powder .... So the goat looks dark in color ... the macaroni pie .... Barely had cheese .... The corn soup. They need to learn to make corn soup.... All in all... terrible food... who ever told that person that their food tastes good. Either lied, was hungry, doesn't know authentic Trini food or was playing a joke on them ... these people need to go back to the drawing board and learn to cook! read more

This was a great experience visiting for the first time. The food was wonderful, seasoned very well and tasted great. The roti and puri are very big. The doubles are delicious. The service was very good and helpful. Street Parking is coins or credit card only but worth it if you want to sit down and enjoy your meal inside. D Roti Hut is here and we're glad we don't have to trek all the way to Richmond Hill to pay a visit to the OGs! My husband is addicted and on a streak of getting the chicken with roti and doubles for takeout. The chicken is flavorful and the sauce is perfect - not so salty! There are a lot of little bones though, so be careful. They give a humongous roti to soak it all in and it hits the spot. We looove the doubles! I've also tried the salt fish and bake while he got curry goat. I went in once with my husband for takeout and place is clean and neat. This is such a great spot and I'm beyond happy I found it! It's about time a West Indian spot that serves doubles opens up on this side of town. D Roti Hut has a great menu that features some nice dishes at pretty good prices. I'm not sure about the other dishes and will probably try them next time. They also have a ton of drinks (peanut punch, Chubby, sorrel, etc.) and snacks (sweet mango, Big Foot, Tiki Gold bars, etc). The restaurant itself is clean and pretty spacious, and even has a snow cone machine for those hot summer days. The woman I spoke to was very nice and friendly, and answered my questions about the food. I was super excited to try the Doubles ($1.25) and couldn't help buying a Peanut Punch ($3.50) too. The Doubles was delicious and flavorful! It was very well made and I enjoyed it immensely. I highly recommend it! I also loved the Peanut Punch. It was the right consistency and was very creamy. 2. 5 for me. Counter woman was very friendly and helpful and the space is very clean and welcoming. Really wanted to love this place but everything was dumb spicy. I LOVE spicy, however I could not feed this to my kids or anyone who can't handle spicy since the spicy builds the more you eat it and for those palates after one or two bites, they would be done. I was told their fried rice and and roti were big sellers and most popular. Yes their dahlpuri skin is tasty, but the fried rice... It tasted like someone just opened up a bottle of Costco size black pepper flakes and dumped the entire bottle in it. Plus the rice was not cooked all the way through so you got uncooked crunchy bites of raw rice through it all too. It was horrible. Ordered the oxtail platter: 3/4 of the platter was filled with rice, the oxtail pieces were a joke... like they used the tippy tippy tiny end pieces of tail to stew in this. Flavors were spot on but I spent more time picking out bone fragments from every mouthful, please wash and clean your oxtail thoroughly. And again because the gravy was obnoxiously spicy, you could not taste the flavor of the pumpkin that was added to the plate as well. I liked their chow mein and the Curry chicken flavor was good but again more bone and bone fragments vs. meat and again way too spicy. They sell an array of pepper sauces and hot sauces too so why not allow the customer to decide how spicy they want their food to be and not predetermine it for them? I was looking to get my fix of West Indian food and did not want to go all the way to Liberty. I found this place a was so impressed. The doubles were, some of the best since home. The aloo pie was fantastic especially with a nice douse of hot sauce. We took home some combos; jerk chicken and macaroni pie, duck and potatoes and BBQ chicken.
