This is Reno's only local independently owned yarn shop, which offers a warm and welcoming community atmosphere alongside its retail offerings. The owner, Terry, is exceptional at teaching and assists knitters of all levels in finding the right project, yarn, and support for any challenges they may encounter. There is always a variety of classes available, and my favorite is Thursday night knit night, during which the store stays open until 7 PM for socializing. The store itself features walls filled with colorful fiber and plush couches, creating a cozy environment that helps me relax, even on stressful days. The space is bright and airy, filled with natural light. This has been my yarn store for years, and I can't say enough good things about Terry and the wonderful staff. Whether you want to learn to knit or you're an experienced knitter, this store is for you. I encourage you to come in soon, take a class, have some fun, and enjoy this fantastic yarn shop!

First of all, I loved this little cute shop. But not sure what happened with my order on specific colors and delayed so much to get it right. Two months of waiting. I tried to support the local shop. I finally gave up and went to Michael's because it was a request from my friends to have hats made. I felt embarrassed making my friend wait so long. Disliked my project when store saw what I was going to make? Or just a mishap in the order? I live 45 minutes away and I came into shop three times to try to pick up my order. I'm just disappointed.

Nice selection of yarn and friendly staff. Loved the furniture. Not the best location, however.

Having said this, I experienced a tragic & sudden loss of a friend. Prior to her death, I signed up for a class and because of this sudden death, I was not able to attend. I called Sierra Sewing in Reno to see about a refund due to these unforeseen circumstances. After two attempts, I finally spoke with Jared and was told I would not receive a refund because their policy states the last day you are allowed to cancel, for a refund, is 7 days prior to class date/time.  My friend died suddenly and there is no way I could give them a 7 day advance notice-given the circumstances surrounding her tragic death. I have spent many thousands of dollars at Sierra Sewing and after being a loyal customer I am told I will not receive my refund because "that is the policy."  I will never shop at Sierra Sewing again. We never know what life will throw at us and instead of sympathy or sorry for my loss, I was told "sorry, you have to cancel 7 days before the class. That's our policy." Think twice before you give them your money. They lack empathy and are unable to understand life's unpredictable events and finally, they do not appreciate a loyal customer. When they show you who they are-believe them.

The class size was perfect for this activity, allowing for the teacher to adequately share instructions, demonstrate the process, and work one-on-one with students as needed. The instructions were organized on a print out with all the materials and supplies needed to replicate the activity at home and referenced during the instruction portion of the class. The materials for the class were well-maintained and organized at each place setting for each student. I've taken other art classes elsewhere and I felt like this was a step above with regard to organization, instruction, and take away materials. I loved the experience so much that I'm going to take another class in October, and this time I'm bringing a friend! In addition to the art classes and studio, Copper Cat also has a delightful little art/gift shop with items made from the artists in studio. Most are in the front shop, but some pieces are scattered throughout. Take your time looking at all the wonderful pieces... so many great art gems for sale at very affordable prices. This little shop is now on my go-to for gift shopping.
