We had to wave down our waitress just to order food. After waiting 30 minutes for wings and appetizers, I finally asked for an ETA. Ten minutes later, the wings arrived cold -- apparently they had spent at least part of those 40 minutes waiting around too. Drink refills required another round of trying to get our waitress's attention. In fact, the only thing that arrived quickly and without us asking for it was the check. Funny how that works. The highlight was the manager coming over halfway through our draft to tell us we were making too much noise. We weren't. And considering the restaurant was practically empty, I'm not sure who exactly we were disturbing. Perhaps the empty tables had complained. You'd think a nearly empty restaurant would be thrilled to have a group of paying customers eating, drinking, and having a good time. Instead, we got painfully slow service, cold food, empty drinks, and a noise complaint. By the end of the night, the lack of customers made a lot more sense. It felt like the staff had already read the writing on the wall. If this is how they treat one of the few groups that actually shows up, they probably won't have to worry about the place getting too loud anytime soon.

A clinical presentation of technical wings perfection, with each piece crisp outside, tender and juicy inside, and generously coated but not overloaded with fresh, tasty wing sauce. A little grit to this one to deliver dry spices as well as liquid, and a noticeable amount of heat that complemented nicely. A joy to view and a joy to eat. -- Mango Habanero Hot Wings: Tried on the second visit, as a combo with onion rings and split with an eating buddy. More technical perfection and similar praise for the sauce, which balances sweet and heat nicely. Even nicer was a little garnish of mango on top. Like the Nashville Hot, these were superb. (And if you check my other reviews, you'll see that I don't go throwing around compliments and 5-star reviews to just anyone.) -- Onion Rings: A frozen product, but crisp, not greasy, and seasoned. Not seafood shack or roast beef joint quality, but good for what it was. -- Coleslaw: A larger-than-expected serving with an unexpected flavor. Crisp, creamy, but with a certain something or somethings that begged for more forkfuls. Seeds (I think caraway) and fruit (cranberries and apples) added oomph and a floral component. If I didn't have plans after, I'd have bought more to take home. Some are drive-thru only (like the one near my house). I'm gonna talk about the former real quick. Naturally, the menu is basically the same. On this day, I was having lunch. Ergo, I opted to try the Chipotle Short Rib & Egg burrito (as a bowl because I'm a man of culture) accompanied with a cup of chowdah. I must say...I expected there to be a bit more flavor, what - with the Chipotle sauce n' all. Alas, I had to add my own salt. This is mostly a nitpick, but really...can we please season our beef? Just a lil bit even? So, the biggest difference you'll notice at this location is the parking situation. It's....annoying. Because on the one hand, you technically have ample amounts of spaces to park in. Or...you WOULD, if not for the signs en masse that read "[insert corporate company name here] parking only - all violators will be towed at owner's expense." I find this hilarious because I feel like that would be impossible to enforce for folks parking less than 10 minutes to pick up an order like I did. So, I guess my pro tip of the day would be: feel free to park wherever at your own risk if and ONLY if you're getting take-away. If you're actually dining in, I suppose you'll have to wait painstakingly for one of the few parking spots actually designated for Pressed specifically to open. By the way, if you're picking up a take-away order, the take-out shelf is smack dab next to their side entrance opposite the side where you would normally order your food. It's one of those "blink once and you'll miss it" type things the first time visiting. From my vantage point, this place stays quite busy. Not surprising, considering the Burlington area in general. Clearly, a lot of folks come here mid-work day which is also the only reason I came here to begin with. Overall, not a bad lunch stop, though the parking can be slightly obnoxious. I'm giving Pressed Cafe in Burlington 4 Chipotle Short Rib bowls dubiously seasoned out of 5.
