It was everything we hoped it would be. We drove from several towns away to try their popular North Shore Beef sandwich We had seen and heard enough that we had to go. They did not disappoint. The service was quick and efficient, it was lunchtime on a weekday. The price was fair. We each had junior beef 3 way, and they were spectacular. Don't come here for the pizza, come here for the north shore style roast beef. Wow, absolutely incredible. Griddled bun, fresh shaved prime rib, drowned in James River, the way it's meant to be. It's an absolute crime another reviewer called the beef here a "pink mystery meat" when it's literally rare prime rib. It was served on a sub roll that was absolutely smothered in mayonnaise and topped with a "mystery meat" that was an unappetizing bright pink color. To make matters worse, the whole thing was drowning in a heavy BBQ sauce. A friend and I went to Mad Matt's for beef and pinwheels and they did not disappoint. Mad Matt's has a huge menu but I came here for two things and that's what we ordered. The food came out fast, the beef's are made to order and the pinwheels are premade and ready to eat. The pinwheels looked dry and overcooked, don't judge a book by its cover. We ordered a steak and cheese pinwheel and the buffalo chicken pinwheel. They weren't dry at all and had great flavor. I would 100% order them again. The beef was outstanding. Located in the former Flip The Bird space on Route 38, Mad Matt's Pizza & Roast Beef opened for business on December 22, 2025. The place is order at the counter or online and there is ample table seating here. They serve up traditional & specialty Greek style pizzas (whole pies), pizza slices in the heated case, pizza calzones, salads, roast beef sandwiches, subs, pasta, mac & cheese, rice bowls, appetizers, wings, fried seafood, omelets, Wachusett bagged chips, sweet treats and cooler drinks. The prices seem fair. I stopped by Mad Matt's recently for dinner. I ordered at the counter, a 3-Way Super Beef ($13.10 plus tax), Cheese Pizza Slice ($3 plus tax), and Spaghetti with Fried Chicken & Garlic Bread ($14.25 plus tax). The pizza slice was given to me immediately. The pizza slice was oily on top which had a firm Greek style crust topped with a thick red tomato sauce and a browned layer of melted cheese. Next, the 3-Way Super Beef was stacked with plenty of soft rare roast beef, mayo, American cheese, and lots of spiced James River BBQ sauce overflowing between a warm soft onion roll. This Northshore roast beef was big and pretty good. Finally, the Spaghetti entree in a rectangular foil container and baked buttered garlic bread (cut 10" sub roll) came out very hot with a separate plastic lid provided for quick packing up. I initially requested that the spaghetti was to go, but the pizza slice and super beef were for here. The spaghetti was cooked just right with a chunky tomato sauce, crispy cut pieces of breaded chicken cutlet and a thick layer of melted mozzarella cheese on top. The buttery garlic bread went well with the spaghetti entree. Overall, the food I ordered for $32.47 total was pretty good and I packed up half the spaghetti & chicken and most of the super beef sandwich leftover to eat for later in the evening. The place was steady busy on a Friday evening. I will try the fish & chips next time. read more

I visited Mad Matt's on opening day, 12/22/25. I was excited to make a visit after hearing a bunch of talk around about how good it was and how the owner was a 21 year old who use to work at a Nick's in Burlington but decided to spread his wings and open his own place! Upon entry, it was busy. A small line to place the order but a bunch of customers were waiting to take their order to go. I had a regular roast beef with mustard and pickle and a small french frie! My standard order! I sat down and waited for my order to be prepped. While waiting, I was impressed with how much the phone was ringing and how many customers were coming and going. There was certainly a lot of excitement about the new "hot spot". My sandwich and fries came and boy was I happy. The sandwich was on a roll that seemed like it was put on the grill for a short time....fresh and great size! The fries were plentiful and perfect temperature! I noticed a different type of taste than other roast beefs places I have frequented. I noticed pepper and salt (my guess) were used to bring extra flavor....and it worked...it was a great taste! The beef was perfectly prepared, hot and pink!! What a great addition for North Woburn. I sort of felt the ghost of "Roast Beef Round-Up" which use to be on the other end of the strip mall where Mad Matt's is now. I am confident that Mad Matt's will do well and the people of Woburn and surrounding communities will swarm the new location! I did not try the pizza but I plan to soon. Also, I am interested in how the prep the chicken kabob! Been seeing these sandwitches, had a short window to be in town to try one, knocked it out of the park. Only tried another place for reference but this thing was my favorite. Nice super tender rare and piled high on a soft yet crisped up onion bun covered in bbq sauce with mayo and cheese. To live in a world where this exists is awesome. I been here twice. There will not be a third time. Thought I'd check out this new place in my hometown. Looked over the menu online, some photos of the inside, okay it looks promising. First time, I ordered a rice and steak tips bowl and a slice while I waited. Nothing special about the pizza, Greek style pizzas are basically the same, thick doughy crust, generic tasting tomato sauce, oily cheese. Got home, opened up the bag. Decent enough tasting steak that was on top, although it was cut up into strips for some odd reason. When I moved the strips of steak over, most of the bowl was rice pilaf. The ratio to steak and rice was about 10/85 with grilled veggies making up another 5%. Under cooked and over cooked veggies at the same time, crunchy carrots and mushy zucchini and broccoli. Second time, I got a couple of Junior Beefs and the chicken kabob salad. I had one of the the beefs for lunch and saved the salad for work later. The beef was almost like jelly, did it go into a blender? Reminded me of Gerber's from my childhood. It also tasted and smelled slightly rancid and old, like a steak that you forgot about in the fridge and turned half brown. A paper thin layer of mayonnaise on one of the bland grocery store buns. I had to add more mayo to it when I got home. The salad, photo added, tasted like it was old as well, wilted brown edged pieces of white lettuce. Market Basket has better fresh prepared garden salads in their case for under $4.00. 1/3 the price. The Greek dressing was very acidic, too much vinegar. The chicken kabobs resembled pet snacks. Blackened burnt lines from the grill on them. It was like eating charcoal briquettes. Of course that made the chicken way too dry as well. I reluctantly ate a couple, after cutting around the Kingsford, and saved the rest for my dog when I would get home as well as the other Junior Beef in my fridge. The salad went into the trash receptacle. Luckily there were some employee snacks at work that got me through until morning. "Mad Matt's"? Mad at the customers so you serve them this substandard food? I spent $40.00 of hard earned money for what exactly? Dog treats I could have got at the grocery store for $1.29. Does ANYBODY that run these places know what "quality control" means anymore? Bottom line, I'd have to be "mad" to ever go back. read more

I've been here a couple of times now and everything is very "ok". Definitely not great or worth going out of the way. The pizza is ok. The roast beef, that they brag about, is cold, over-sauced, but also bland. And that's going to be the problem. Matt's is in a tough location. I don't have a problem with raising your prices. I don't have an issue when the price charged is more than the flyer shows. They get out of date. I do have a problem when the price charged is more than the menu above the cash register states. I was charged 11.75 for a junior beef sandwich when the price on the sign says 11.25. I told the clerk about it last month. Told him they needed to fix the sign. Exact same thing happened to me an hour ago. Not sure if this is an issue with other menu items. Too bad because the roast beef is excellent there. Just bad business practice. read more

Located right by route 95 in Woburn this place is cheffing up some of the tastiest food around. Now, we consider ourselves roast beef connoisseurs and the beef here is a grand slam. The buns are nicely grilled, the roast is sliced thin and portioned generously, it's super tender, topped with a nice cheese and a slightly tangy bbq sauce. The haddock was cooked and seasoned to perfection, each bite melts in the mouth, the rice soft and moist and pairs perfectly with the buttery crumbs atop the large filet of fish, the steak and cheese calzone was another homerun. The cheesy steak is packed inside a nicely charred dough. It's crispy on the outside and a superb combination of seasoning and flavors on the inside. Another must-try food item is the Cuba sandwich. My favorite has always been at Yawkey Way outside of Fenway in Boston, but these guys topped that! Overall this place will be a staple in the greater Boston region and we highly recommend stopping by! read more

I am going to start my review by going on a diatribe. I hate food influencers. I've only recently started viewing their short videos on tic toc and Instagram and they are very entertaining, their fake enthusiasm draws you in and they are very convincing when they gush over restaurants with beautiful food dripping down their faces. Little did I know that these food influencers are neither objective nor honest, they are often times paid by the restaurants, receive free food, know the owners or their family, and are compensated financially by advertisers. By law, they are supposed to disclose this but none of them do. Which brings me to this review, I was enticed to come here by a food influencer but as the old adage goes "...fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me." I will keep the rest of the review short. Was there yesterday at the sparkling, brand new shop around noon. The place was hopping and very busy. I placed my order and waited about 30 minutes for my North Shore 3 way Roast Beef Sandwich. No complaint about the wait because it was super busy. Also picked up 2 Buffalo Chicken Pin Wheels which the food influencer also gushed about. The pin wheel seems to be made with their pizza dough and rolled around with a buffalo chicken filling. It is a creative idea but the execution was a very dry, uninspiring result. As far as the Roast Beef Sandwich, I thought it was average and the roast beef did not have a lot of flavor. If I were to guess (and this is just a guess), I would be surprised if they actually make or roast their own roast beef. It tasted more like deli counter roast beef. Delicious messy fun. Another great addition to the restaurant Mecca on Main Street in Woburn. Went back again today got a steak bomb. What a phenomenal hot mess I made. Then decided to get a wing dinner sweet chili Thai. Only had room for one wing and some delicious French fries which as usual were crispy hot and perfect. Staff is kind patient competent and super informed of everything on the menu. The total opposite of the last operation of this location which had decent chicken and a lot of fun sides but completely green staff Matt has a great menu which covers pretty much the entire Spectrum and more of what you would expect from a roast beef joint. The roast beef is delicious and juicy sliced thin pastrami is perfectly spiced t he wings were crunchy and delicious spiced perfectly. This place is great you can't go wrong. Better yet I hear that the frappe machine is coming back maybe even soft serve not really sure. Please support our new neighbor and business. The food was ok but THEY RAN OUT OF ROAST BEEF LIKE HOW DOES A PLACE THAT HAS ROAST BEEF IN THIER NAME RUN OUT OF ROAST BEEF. secondly the service was terrible we ordered online and they forgot half our food and didn't even bother to tell us that they ran out of chicken noodle soup but instead they gave us clam chowder. when we went back to go collect the food that we ordered but they didn't give us the boy tried to put the pasta in the pizza box with no lid and said "oh it's secure" what was in that pizza box was not a pizza but a dessert calzone so if the pasta is spilled everywhere and it would have been have ruined. read more

I went in to Mad Matts yesterday first time after reading about it on fb. I have been missing out for months!!! Roast beef was absolutely delicious!! The pinwheels were amazing, I had never had one before not a big fan of cheese I got the buffalo pizza pinwheel unbelievable!! perfection!!! I am hoping to get a plain steak. Went today with my sister for lunch, the place is clean and bright, the staff is young and very efficient. We both got junior beefs, I got 3 way and she got mayo & lettuce. The sandwiches are are a good size with delicious soft red meat, we also got onion rings, I didn't like the coating but inside the onions were cooked right and nice and soft, we split a whoopie pie before leaving, all tables were full with young people and families, we don't live in the area but I definitely recommend a visit, they also deliver. The social media buzz got ahead of the execution. Went there with 5 friends based on the hype. The roast beef 3 way was good, plenty of beef, but the taste average not great. The beef itself was cold while sauce and bun were warm, not a great combo. Also tried a pinwheel, it was ok not cold not hot and the taste was average. The drink refrigerator was virtually empty. Not sure if they ran out of stock or they weren't paying attention. In general the group thought their sandwiches were average to average+, we hope it gets better with time and experience. read more
