    Buffalo Chicken pinwheel

A friend and I went to Mad Matt's for beef and pinwheels and they did not disappoint. Mad Matt's has a huge menu but I came here for two things and that's what we ordered. The food came out fast, the beef's are made to order and the pinwheels are premade and ready to eat. The pinwheels looked dry and overcooked, don't judge a book by its cover. We ordered a steak and cheese pinwheel and the buffalo chicken pinwheel. They weren't dry at all and had great flavor. I would 100% order them again. The beef was outstanding. I ordered a classic 3 way and it may have been the best beef I have ever had. So tender, so flavorful. Make sure you stop at Mad Matt's.

Located in the former Flip The Bird space on Route 38, Mad Matt's Pizza & Roast Beef opened for business on December 22, 2025. The place is order at the counter or online and there is ample table seating here. They serve up traditional & specialty Greek style pizzas (whole pies), pizza slices in the heated case, pizza calzones, salads, roast beef sandwiches, subs, pasta, mac & cheese, rice bowls, appetizers, wings, fried seafood, omelets, Wachusett bagged chips, sweet treats and cooler drinks. The prices seem fair. I stopped by Mad Matt's recently for dinner. I ordered at the counter, a 3-Way Super Beef ($13.10 plus tax), Cheese Pizza Slice ($3 plus tax), and Spaghetti with Fried Chicken & Garlic Bread ($14.25 plus tax). The pizza slice was given to me immediately. The pizza slice was oily on top which had a firm Greek style crust topped with a thick red tomato sauce and a browned layer of melted cheese. Next, the 3-Way Super Beef was stacked with plenty of soft rare roast beef, mayo, American cheese, and lots of spiced James River BBQ sauce overflowing between a warm soft onion roll. This Northshore roast beef was big and pretty good. Finally, the Spaghetti entree in a rectangular foil container and baked buttered garlic bread (cut 10" sub roll) came out very hot with a separate plastic lid provided for quick packing up. I initially requested that the spaghetti was to go, but the pizza slice and super beef were for here. The spaghetti was cooked just right with a chunky tomato sauce, crispy cut pieces of breaded chicken cutlet and a thick layer of melted mozzarella cheese on top. The buttery garlic bread went well with the spaghetti entree. Overall, the food I ordered for $32.47 total was pretty good and I packed up half the spaghetti & chicken and most of the super beef sandwich leftover to eat for later in the evening. The place was steady busy on a Friday evening. I will try the fish & chips next time.

I visited Mad Matt's on opening day, 12/22/25. I was excited to make a visit after hearing a bunch of talk around about how good it was and how the owner was a 21 year old who use to work at a Nick's in Burlington but decided to spread his wings and open his own place! Upon entry, it was busy. A small line to place the order but a bunch of customers were waiting to take their order to go. I had a regular roast beef with mustard and pickle and a small french frie! My standard order! I sat down and waited for my order to be prepped. While waiting, I was impressed with how much the phone was ringing and how many customers were coming and going. There was certainly a lot of excitement about the new "hot spot". My sandwich and fries came and boy was I happy. The sandwich was on a roll that seemed like it was put on the grill for a short time....fresh and great size! The fries were plentiful and perfect temperature! I noticed a different type of taste than other roast beefs places I have frequented. I noticed pepper and salt (my guess) were used to bring extra flavor....and it worked...it was a great taste! The beef was perfectly prepared, hot and pink!! What a great addition for North Woburn. I sort of felt the ghost of "Roast Beef Round-Up" which use to be on the other end of the strip mall where Mad Matt's is now. I am confident that Mad Matt's will do well and the people of Woburn and surrounding communities will swarm the new location! I did not try the pizza but I plan to soon. Also, I am interested in how the prep the chicken kabob! Price: very fair Vibe: excitement for the new location Parking: fine, it can be busy, but there are spots to be had Staff: plenty of staff to handle the big crowds Coke/Pepsi: Coke Will I be back? For sure, as I said, this is a great addition for North Woburn

A strong 3.5, expressed as a 4. Good, spicy beef with a little grey meat. Ordered a 5 way junior beef and it was substantial. Bun was toasted perfectly and it was topped with not one BUT two onion rings. Classic Massachusetts pizza joint vibe. Service was fine; order at window and beef was delivered table side.

Been seeing these sandwitches, had a short window to be in town to try one, knocked it out of the park. Only tried another place for reference but this thing was my favorite. Nice super tender rare and piled high on a soft yet crisped up onion bun covered in bbq sauce with mayo and cheese. To live in a world where this exists is awesome. Service was great, quick, ambience was as expected. Will definetly return.

I ordered a large cheese pizza, a large specialty pizza and a small steak bomb calzone; 75 bucks. Not worth it in my opinion. The pizza was oily and crust was thin and dense. The calzone was a little better, but like the pizza it tasted very salty. My family and I were not fans. On a positive note, the staff was friendly and restaurant was clean.

I been here twice. There will not be a third time. Thought I'd check out this new place in my hometown. Looked over the menu online, some photos of the inside, okay it looks promising. First time, I ordered a rice and steak tips bowl and a slice while I waited. Nothing special about the pizza, Greek style pizzas are basically the same, thick doughy crust, generic tasting tomato sauce, oily cheese. Got home, opened up the bag. Decent enough tasting steak that was on top, although it was cut up into strips for some odd reason. When I moved the strips of steak over, most of the bowl was rice pilaf. The ratio to steak and rice was about 10/85 with grilled veggies making up another 5%. Under cooked and over cooked veggies at the same time, crunchy carrots and mushy zucchini and broccoli. Second time, I got a couple of Junior Beefs and the chicken kabob salad. I had one of the the beefs for lunch and saved the salad for work later. The beef was almost like jelly, did it go into a blender? Reminded me of Gerber's from my childhood. It also tasted and smelled slightly rancid and old, like a steak that you forgot about in the fridge and turned half brown. A paper thin layer of mayonnaise on one of the bland grocery store buns. I had to add more mayo to it when I got home. The salad, photo added, tasted like it was old as well, wilted brown edged pieces of white lettuce. Market Basket has better fresh prepared garden salads in their case for under $4.00. 1/3 the price. The Greek dressing was very acidic, too much vinegar. The chicken kabobs resembled pet snacks. Blackened burnt lines from the grill on them. It was like eating charcoal briquettes. Of course that made the chicken way too dry as well. I reluctantly ate a couple, after cutting around the Kingsford, and saved the rest for my dog when I would get home as well as the other Junior Beef in my fridge. The salad went into the trash receptacle. Luckily there were some employee snacks at work that got me through until morning. "Mad Matt's"? Mad at the customers so you serve them this substandard food? I spent $40.00 of hard earned money for what exactly? Dog treats I could have got at the grocery store for $1.29. Does ANYBODY that run these places know what "quality control" means anymore? Bottom line, I'd have to be "mad" to ever go back.

Can you tell me what kind of pizza I got? Because I can't !!!!

I have had a few things from them, and every time I get something, it doest meet the standards they say they want to provide! To top it off today the fourth thing I've got... Can you tell me what I should be eating?!

The short version: they take pride in their product and it turns out well above the usual. Friendly family operation. -- Buffalo Wings: Not gargantuan, but good size. Good contrast between crisp skin and tender inner flesh. Decent juiciness on the drums and very good juiciness on the flats. Tasty sauce. -- Fries: When I learned they're not fresh hand-cut, the owner was kind enough to provide a small sample to try. A decent rendition for frozen.  -- Nashville Hot Wings: Tried on the second visit, as a combo with coleslaw and split with an eating buddy. A clinical presentation of technical wings perfection, with each piece crisp outside, tender and juicy inside, and generously coated but not overloaded with fresh, tasty wing sauce. A little grit to this one to deliver dry spices as well as liquid, and a noticeable amount of heat that complemented nicely. A joy to view and a joy to eat. -- Mango Habanero Hot Wings: Tried on the second visit, as a combo with onion rings and split with an eating buddy. More technical perfection and similar praise for the sauce, which balances sweet and heat nicely. Even nicer was a little garnish of mango on top. Like the Nashville Hot, these were superb. (And if you check my other reviews, you'll see that I don't go throwing around compliments and 5-star reviews to just anyone.) -- Onion Rings: A frozen product, but crisp, not greasy, and seasoned. Not seafood shack or roast beef joint quality, but good for what it was. -- Coleslaw: A larger-than-expected serving with an unexpected flavor. Crisp, creamy, but with a certain something or somethings that begged for more forkfuls. Seeds (I think caraway) and fruit (cranberries and apples) added oomph and a floral component. If I didn't have plans after, I'd have bought more to take home. Friendly, hands-on owner who puts his heart and soul into the food, from the presentation (including a stainless steel bone dish and plastic gloves) to the pinpoint technical excellence of the wings (nailed the crisp, the juiciness, the right amount of sauce) to the creativity (the mango garnish; apples and cranberries in the coleslaw). Even without table service, comfy booths, and beer, an easy 5.

We had to wave down our waitress just to order food. After waiting 30 minutes for wings and appetizers, I finally asked for an ETA. Ten minutes later, the wings arrived cold -- apparently they had spent at least part of those 40 minutes waiting around too. Drink refills required another round of trying to get our waitress's attention. In fact, the only thing that arrived quickly and without us asking for it was the check. Funny how that works. The highlight was the manager coming over halfway through our draft to tell us we were making too much noise. We weren't. And considering the restaurant was practically empty, I'm not sure who exactly we were disturbing. Perhaps the empty tables had complained. You'd think a nearly empty restaurant would be thrilled to have a group of paying customers eating, drinking, and having a good time. Instead, we got painfully slow service, cold food, empty drinks, and a noise complaint. By the end of the night, the lack of customers made a lot more sense. It felt like the staff had already read the writing on the wall. My fave was the hot honey, followed by garlic parm and then lemon pepper. All were good and tastes exactly how you'd imagine it would. No surprises, really. The fries, despite us dining in and consuming them right away - were barely warm, but somehow it preserved it's crisp. I wish they were warmer/hot...it would be sooo good. We probably got a stale batch. Note that their website offers more ordering options for the tenders. The combo I wanted was not listed in the store, but when I showed the guy what I wanted, he had no problems helping me with the combo I wanted at the listed price. This place has no trashcan outside so when you leave, you have to toss things over the into the trashcan inside the kitchen area on your way out. Pricing is reasonable and the front desk guy was friendly. I'd stay away from the wet flavors as it makes the food soggy, but that could just be personal preference. This place has to stay on their A-game as Dave's hot chicken and Canes Chicken is literally outside of this place.

Let's dissect the burger first - the Mac and bacon were great. The veggie toppings nice and fresh! My complaints are the bun and the burger patty itself. The bun wasn't all that fresh and was fairly dry. Not the end of the world but a fresh bun would have made a world of a difference and made up for the clearly generic frozen beef patty. Still tasted good, but not worth the price. Next, the Cajun Chicken "Alfredo". Holy guacamole, whoever made this most definitely read "white wine and parmesan" as "loads and loads of garlic and when you think you've got enough, add even more garlic". Thank God people are still wearing masks at work or I'd be in trouble because brushing my teeth twice, all I still taste is garlic! I didn't taste Cajun spice on the chicken at all, just the blackened char, but it was tasty. I just wish the sauce had more flavor than overwhelming chunks of garlic (and I do mean chunks, I was chewing garlic! The small chunks you see in the picture are pure garlic, that's not clumpy parm! The parm is that teeny bit on the chicken!) All in all, it's about what I expected for a pop-up kitchen operating out of a Bertucci's so other reviewers, be kind.
