I got a to-go order of Chicken Shawarma sandwich ($13.5) and a Falafel Bowl ($14.50) with various trimmings. They were both very good. The bowl was a bit smaller than what you might get from Roti, but the quality seemed higher. The only weak spot was the rice, which was bland. The sandwich was also very good. Each was a decent size for one meal without leftovers. Yasmine has adjusted their menu a few times over the years. For example, they used to have platters for two, and they didn't use to have bowls. They still seem to be figuring out their model to appeal to both casual diners at Union Market and those that sit at the bar. The menu doesn't mention happy hour anymore, but I asked the staff and they do have it, with $5 drafts and $8 wines but no discount on food. Not sure what times or days of week (sorry). read more

Great spot for a casual dinner! Located in the heart of Union Market, Yasmine is a lively, bustling Mediterranean spot serving up delicious wraps, salads, and platters. I came by for a quick bite on Friday evening, and the Market was packed. We managed to snag a seat at the long table next to Yasmine and split their Friday special, the falafel wrap. The wrap was packed with flavor -- it was a bit zingy, a bit spicy, and a bit herby. They had a delightful sauce, but the falafel itself had plenty of seasoning on its own as well. The falafel was perfectly fried, with a nice crispy shell, and it went wonderfully with the fresh, crunchy cucumbers, pickles, and cherry tomatoes. My dining partner also tried their chicken shawarma wrap, which was also fantastic but slightly more lacking in flavor vs. the falafel wrap. It didn't have the same sauce that the falafel version had, which made it a smidge less exciting and a tad more dry. All in all, Yasmine is a great addition to my Union Market rotation! AVOID. Stopped by here after seeing high Yelp reviews with my two kids. My daughter and I ordered two chicken shawarma bowls, an order for fries, a glass of wine, and a lemonade ($54). The service was great. However, when I got the bill (before my food), I noticed it was very high. Before paying and adding a tip, I asked the waiter if gratuity was included, and he shrugged and said, " Yeah, something like that. There are some fees, but yeah, I guess it's included. So if I hadn't noticed, I would have tipped. After seeing the charge, they added a 30% DELIVERY fee onto my bill plus 10% tax! Nowhere does it state this additional charge, if I had not noticed i would have tipped another 20% making my cost almost 60% of FEES!!! If you are feeling the Lebanese pita wraps, definitely try one of those because they're massive and worth how much you're paying for. My friend's beef shawarma was so big and filled with meat and other toppings. HUMMUS - 7 +6 to add chicken. Each spread comes with a piece of Lebanese pita, a sizable cup of hummus. There wasn't a lot of chicken (a cup's worth) and definitely not worth $6. However, the hummus was very smooth and creamy. Very flavorful and I had to stop myself from just picking up a spoon and eating it by itself. The pita was pretty stale and did not taste fresh. The chicken was fine, just regular chicken. I didn't like how the sumac was just pieces of herb floating on top of the drink. It was kinda unappealing looking. -Lamb kebab: Super tasty, kinda messy to eat but all the best things are, right? -Fries: Nice flavor with herbs and the included toum. A little oily. Small was enormous and more than enough for 1-2 people. One thing I would recommend for the owners is to invest in a menu sign or similar. Overall, really enjoyed the meal, it's very quick (our large takeout order was ready 5-10 minutes), flavors are solid and the only minor complaints would be that portions are a touch small, and the pita is the generic really thin type. Favorite item - the toshka, basically a mozzarella and lamb quesadilla it was awesome. Other standouts - the balila (warm chickpeas), labneh (delicious), toum (addicting, but you'll have garlic breath for a while - worth it), beef shawarma, fries and pickles. The hummus and salad were fresh, chicken (shish taouk) and lamb kebabs also good, as well as falafel. The sahawiq is like a spicy chimichurri, also good. DELICIOUSNESS!! Ok, so I'm not sure how the individual items are, but this platter was delish and I felt it was reasonably priced at $52 It was the perfect lunch to share among 3 people. The Meshawi platter comes with a sampling of each meat, fries, pickled veggies, grilled tomato and onion, 3 pitas, smooth hummus, labneh, tuom, chic peas, and a lil salad. All the meat was tender and tasty. I love variety in my meals, so all the dips and accoutrements aligned well with my eating style. Toum, which is whipped garlic, was So so gooooddd! Even the fries were good. The only complaint I'd have is our pita were still warm, but the edges were a bit crunchy. Hate to report this but the service is on a quick decline at the Yasmine in Union Market. Yesterday we came over for some apps and drinks. The bar top was filtered with old plates and drinks from previous customers, so we moved them to the side to make space. We ordered food, explaining my allergies which were completely ignored so we had to send it back, twice. We also ordered Falafel but apparently they didn't have any since their fryer was down? When asking for a refund, they said they can't and stared at us so I just switched for a plate of pickled veggies which honestly tasted old and I didn't think that was possible for fermented foods. Sucks but I think I'm going to have to find another vendor to frequent when I'm in the market. read more

From the chefs of Maydan comes Union Market's newest stand and it's more than that. It comes with a wraparound bar with plenty of seats. Scan the QR code along the bar and order takeout or have a seat and enjoy it at the bar. Meeting a friend here for lunch on a Wednesday, we left impressed. The menu is large with sandwiches, salads, spreads, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Their beef shawarma sandwiches are the best we've had in the city. If you like fries and garlic, order a side of them with a garlic dipping sauce. To drink, we got the mint lemonade. It's mainly ice, but I only noticed because I was sad when the lemonade was gone. Tasty!! Came here with two good friends for a catch up dinner. Since it was our first time in we decided we needed to try a bit of everything. Based on the dazzling insta pics I ordered the lamb. My girl judges restaurants by their falafel so she went that direction. We Also ordered the muhamara, toshka, fries and toum to split. I thought the lamb kebab sandwich was delicious! There was nice balance of spice, creaminess, acid, and heat that made me inhale the thing. My girl was pleased with the falafel and announced she would return. The muhamara was great - the only reason we didn't finish is because we ordered too much food. Normally fries are a thing I'm unenthused about and I feel no need to waste precious space in my tummy on them; these fries smack. The toum was such a lovely bright contrast to the warm spices of the fries. The toshka was a touch underwhelming in comparison. To drink we ordered the jallab, limonata, and cinnamon soda. Yasmine is located inside Union Market which is a cool indoor market with many restaurants and food options to chose from. They had tables reserved for customers in front of their restaurant and we ordered online through their QR code. I got the Beef Shawarma Sandwich and it was tasty but I wish it came with a side of fries or something, because the portion size could have been bigger. I do appreciate that quality of the beef that they used. It was cut into nice strips in my sandwich. My girlfriend got the Muhammara spread and dipping vegetables. While the spread itself was very good (restaurant quality flavor), there serving size was tiny and not enough to fill up a person, yet it was the same price as my entree. If you're trying to decide whether to order from here, check out other reviewers that tried several of their dishes. As for me, I'll have to come back to experience more from this restaurant before truly throwing my weight behind a set rating. What we got: Limonata - 4* great flavor and a really refreshing drink! I wish we had asked for less ice though. At $6 a cup with a third of the cup being filled with ice, you don't get much to drink and it was gone after a couple of sips. From Yasmine, I tried the nitro cardamom cold brew and loved it. I generally drink my cold brew black so this was perfect. For my entree, I went with the falafel sandwich and an order of the fries with toum. The falafel sandwich was great, but I wish they'd put more sauce on it. It was a little dry until I got the the end where apparently all the spice was hiding (should've started from the other side I guess!). Yasmine is super cute! They have a lot of seating, and the chairs are quite comfy. Since we just passed through we opted for beers and fries. The fries were tasty, but the star of the show was the Toum! Fresh garlic throughout the sauce and it was very creamy. Service was great as well, we had the chance to chat with our server and she gave us plenty of insight on the Yasmine experience. I was quite undecided during my trip to Union Market, but had a few places in mind with Yasmine being one of them. Yasmine it was for my main entree. I decided on the falafel pita and was quite regretful after ordering because I typically go with falafel and while I do love it, I want sure if it would satisfy my hunger cravings. Well that regret quickly turned to happiness once I unwrapped it and took my first bite. It was sensational! My only issue is there were whole pieces of falafel and veggies where I would've preferred it to have been more chopped. Overall, I'm happy with my decision and would try again. I only had one item - the lamb kabob wrap. And it wasn't what I expected. Instead of grilled chunk of skewered lamb, I received a kafta kabob (made with ground lamb meat). That being said, the lamb kafta was just okay. I make better ones at home - with more cinnamon flavor as well as parsley. Yasmine's version was a bit bland by comparison and so it didn't live up to my imagination with all the good reviews this place has. I suspect other dishes are better here. And maybe the bar drinks help lift the reviews as well. Finally, I tried Yasmine and let me just say... that sandwich didn't stand a chance! I ordered online for pickup. Super simple, easy, and quick! I arrived on a Friday, just after 11 and Union Market was pretty empty. The bar seating was empty (I've seen it completely packed as it gets busy). I was helped immediately. Ok, I ordered the Shish Taouk with extra toum, because everyone should! Shish Taouk- basically a sandwich. Chicken, fries, pickle, & toum wrapped in Pita! Omg! It's pretty huge! Very good. We got the meshawi platter so we got to sample a bunch of food. The lamb kebab was the highlight and so flavorful. The beef and chicken were also delicious. All of the meat had great seasoning and fresh herbs. The pickled veggies were also great with lots of cardamom. The hummus was so smooth and creamy. Excellent kebab and pitas here! Very cool that they have bar seating so you can take your order there and even order drinks or get in line at the register. I got the Shush Touk (chicken sandwich) and Muhammara (red pepper spread) with pita and pickled vegetables on the side. The chicken sandwich was so flavorful and filling! I enjoyed the garlic toum and french fries inside. The red pepper spread was a bit sweet and almost reminded me of a tomato sauce. The pita that came with the spread was a bit cold and hard to chew. Yasmine delivers on some solid Arab (Levantine) food and pretty consistently. Their Falafel is probably my favorite or 2nd favorite in DC, i like their shish taouk, baba ghannoush, their m'hammara (though I think they plan to or have phased it out), and of course fries with toum. The Fattoush is great and I definitely recommend it. Also don't sleep on the pickles, they're integral to your experience. It's been a while since I ordered it but I remember the beef shawarma being tasty as well. I often pickup but when I'm in person for a sit down it's nice to have a reserved space for the restaurant within the very hectic Union Market. Finally, their drinks are good! read more

We stopped by for a (very) late lunch and ordered two wraps: one with lamb and one with beef plus a side order of cheek peas. $35 with tax without drinks. Not enough food for 2 hungry people. Wraps were of quite modest size, the beef one was a bit dry. Both were served cold ( pita bread was cold from the fridge). Cheek peas were too salty to my taste ( and I like salt). This is a bar restaurant inside of Union market. We randomly came in to have a drink before our dinner reservations on a Saturday night and were lucky to find two seats together. The market has a huge variety of food, bars, people, vibes and this was our first time at Yasmine. The bartender was busy but came over after a few minutes we ordered the vodka mule and it was good but almost $20! The people next to us had a huge platter of food and you could smell all of the flavors. We definitely want to go back for a bite! read more

My husband and I grabbed lunch here this past week, and I really wished we hadn't. We ordered two sandwiches (beef shawarma & lamb kebab) and a small order of fries. The beef shawarma sandwich did have a lot of meat but there was a bit of a sweet flavor to it so I did not prefer it. We were expecting the lamb kebab to be pieces of lamb however it was a lamb patty or kefta so we were disappointed - had the menu explained that we would've passed. It also was quite small with not much of veggies or anything. The small fries was actually a fair amount and enough to share. The sauce it came with for dipping was good; however, the fries were quite oily possibly indicating it was fried in an oil not yet hot enough. Overall, I believe all the food was quite oily which did upset my stomach as well as my husbands for the rest of the day so I would steer clear. Giving this place two stars for the fact that staff are really friendly and they do have a lunch counter with stools you can sit at and in Union Market that is more than convenient. But seriously go ahead and pass on this place - there plenty of delicious other spots in the market to eat at that will not hurt your stomach. read more
