Fries; tasty but a little too soft
    Jennifer H.

My boyfriend, friend, and I were looking for a late night spot. This place was surprisingly good! They had a buy 1 get one free offer on UberEats for $14.99 on the combo gyro. Let me tell you; it was delicious! The gyro was well seasoned and hearty. We also got fries. To be honest, they were only ok but still hit the spot. I tend to prefer more crispy fries, and these were more limp.

Very good food served here! I quite enjoy Mediterranean food, and this place definitely fixed my craving. The prices are extremely reasonable, especially for DC, and this place is open super late (4 am). I tried the gyro bowl with lettuce, red onions, white sauce, and rice. It was delicious! The gyro meat was perfectly cooked, and the pieces were all cut up and tender. The sauce was perfect,y creamy and complimented the meat well. They had a ton of rice in this portion, but it was pretty tasty rice, so I didn't mind. The lettuce and vegetables were fresh. All in all, I would definitely recommend this spot. It's also got pizzas and other Mediterranean options, so there's pretty much something for everyone. Try it out!

    Spicy Boneless Chicken Kabob

This place has really blessed me and fed me with good Mediterranean food. And I wish this was not the category that it's placed in because it has such a unique and authentic take to it that newer, gentrified, Mediterranean restaurants are trying to replicate but can't. Here, the flavors are bold, they're not afraid of fat, and your plate comes heafty, and you can order pretty late. I love the addition of of a chickpea curry as a standard side, I wish more places adopted this because it adds to the flavors going on in your plate. Its comforting, its warm, its cooked down like a daal but it operates like a condiment to wet the rice or flatbread. Rice is a perfect foundation to hold all the toppings, its warm, tumeric yellow, has cumin, and slightly salted so it stands as its own component. The chicken is beautifully charred, comes in big chunks, and well seasoned both in the spice blend they're choosing but also on the exterior, its well coated. Side vegetables give a nice crunch and brightness, love taking a raw onion bite in between. And both of the sauces are good, one for spicy and own for cooling, so well balanced. This was my first order, but I know I will come here for more.

Jumbo slice, folded to fit into the personal sized pizza box
    Jordan N.

This is really the place to get jumbo pizza slices in this part of DC (Adam's Morgan / West U St / North DuPont's 18th street corridor). I get some people love the gyros here. At 1:30 am they're busy putting them out, and surprisingly even more so than the jumbo slices. From what I've seen at the 1:30 am Saturday rush (really!) the gyro is made with diced-up meat and kept in a warmed pan, the gyro wrap is the prepackaged store variety, and toppings did not go much beyond simply a sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. There were no spit to shave the gyros from. It may make great late nights junk food for a drunkard, but I highly would recommend people to steer themselves towards the jumbo pizza slices. The slices are freshly baked to order, or should I say half-baked, which is still delicious and makes it easily foldable. It is unlike any New York slices because it is a floppy rather than a crispy slice, but I'm not complaining (I'm also in the camp that loves half-baked cookies so you can maybe understand some of that appeal). The char on the bottom is decent and noticeable, and the gooey cheese melted with enough blister - and yes, you'll need the napkin for dabbing the grease off of the surplus that comes from so much cheese (and from the perfectly curled-up pepperoni if you get that). Made well, it's worth the eat. The value is reasonable - $5.99 for a jumbo cheese slice, $6.99 for a pepperoni jumbo slice. You can also customize them any way you like for an additional charge. For those not wanting pizza, maybe try the kabobs. I didn't see anyone order them this late at night but based on the reviews, it's something I would consider for the next time. And they're not something that seems to have been pre-made and kept warm ahead of time like the diced gyro meat. I can see myself coming back whenever I want that quintessential late night pizza slice.

I ordered the salmon kabob plate and some fries for delivery. The food was pretty good, the sauces were really flavorful and the salmon was prefect. The rice however was not that flavorful and my fries had no seasoning. Loved the garbanzo beans and pita bread, it was soft and still warm from the delivery. Overall, I'd come back here or order delivery again.

So I have to keep this short. It was 3 AM and this was one of the FEW places open on Uber Eats. I highly recommend!!! If you order the DC Slice, it's MASSIVE!!!! HUGE!!!! It's a meal on it's own. I also ordered the Gyro and was so mad I didn't eat that 1st. My hotel didn't have a microwave so I had to eat it cold the next day. I could tell if it was hot it was going to be delicious!!! I ordered a can soda to go, and didn't see where I could choose on the App. Being from Atlanta I was annoyed when I saw Pepsi, but it wasn't the end of the world! :)

I support late night food places. Evening shift people need places to eat out too. Aladdin's is late night, but. Not the latest. And always has a lost Adams Morgan crowd. With jumbo slice all around, Aladdin's offers their own take on the jumbo (smaller and less seasoned) and creative pizzas available only as full pies. I haven't tried them yet. Fries are good here. Felafel is bland and without tehina and is served on a pita, not in it. Would tell people to count their change here.

    Cheese pizza
    Nikki M.

It was a late Night carry out. Place was clean. Everyone very nice. Pizza not cheesy enough. Kind of like New York thin crust pizza. But. It was great. Next time will just ask for extra cheese. Kabob salad great. Chicken a little dry. But with dressing and vegetables. It was a great late night meal. Wick preparation. And easy take out process

    Wings

Absolutely sad... Couldn't even toss the wings in the sauce fully... the gyro tasted decent but it also came with the longest pieces of raw onions I've ever seen which wasn't good. Will not order again

    Tommy T.

I was here in a trip and was super hungry at 12am! Luckily this spot was a 5 min walk from my hotel! THIS IS THE BEST GYRO PLATE I HAVE EVER HAD! I am from the Bay Area and it's better than every place I had tried! I don't know why but it was just so good and so different!! THIS PLACE IS A MUST GO! CERTIFIED BUSSIN!!!

The broccoli was crispy, the beef was moist. No thickening flavor like flour or corn starch was evident in its tasty sauce. It wasn't even too salty. Go figure! Was warmly greeted, seated, and given an overview of the menu and brunch package options; decided to opt-out of the bottomless drinks, which had an alcoholic (mimosas and Bloody Marys) and NA (juices, sodas, drip coffee and black tea), as I wanted to try their more speciality coffee and tea. The drinks I ordered were the Turkish coffee, Levantine-style tea and digestive tea. All were quite solid. The Turkish coffee was as robust as espresso, yet not overwhelmingly bitter and slightly sweetened. The Levantine tea was a smooth black tea with natural sweetness and layered with a mint steep and floral notes of hibiscus, and rose petal. The digestive was more herbaceous with fennel and pomegranate zest, in addition to a steep of spearmint. The food was more hit-or-miss. On one hand, the meat and seafood was all very delicious and well-made. The braised lamb shank is their speciality, and well-deserved, as it's moist, savory and tender. The short rib similarly so, and the chicken casserole, lamb biajeen, Adana kebab and steamed lavraki (sea bass) were all similarly flavorful. On the other hand, the sides and mezze options were more mixed; the dolmas and fresh bites cheese with za'atar/nuts were delightful, however, the borek, cheeses, and some of the dips tasted reheated and/or not super fresh, the Brussels sprouts were quite scorched, and the savory salmon waffles were bone dry and flavorless. The French onion soup had the right flavor profile, but not the intensity; it tasted watered-down and even looked it, due to the noticeable oil blebs on the surface. Dessert was similar; the melon and fruits were fresh enough, the yogurt bar was quality, the kadayif nutty with the sweetness balanced, and the layali lubnan was intoxicatingly tasty, but many of the baked goods looked rather packaged and the fondue station was mediocre. The staff, however, were extremely friendly (my special regards to Mia, she's a great conversationalist and a sweetheart!). They answered all my questions, and one of the bartenders even gave me half a lemon to zuzh up my tea with. As I said at the start, more 3.5 stars than 3 stars. The core of their offerings are all quality, so I can't quite dock them a full two stars for the food quality because they had buffets aren't usually renown for said quality. You really can't expect perfection from AYCE, even though I naturally encourage the management to avoid sourcing pre-made items from Sysco if possible. The friendly staff and eloquent Eastern Mediterranean ambiance allows me to still say I enjoyed this experience, and may be back for dinner in the future.

I do think this review could be beneficial for others with a number of severe food allergies, but I want to be clear about how the restaurant tried to rectify the situation because my bad experience wouldn't necessarily reflect the experience of others. The reservation site requires you to input any allergies ahead of time so that they can accommodate you. I've used this many times before at other restaurants and never had an issue. In my experience, restaurants will be prepared with the allergy ticket at arrival. I have also eaten at numerous Indian restaurants before without issue, and I had a friend with me who had suggested this place because Indian restaurants are usually accommodating, in their experience. When I sat down at our table and mentioned my allergies, the waiter immediately said that I chose the wrong restaurant. This struck me as quite rude, and I was shocked because I have eaten at so many restaurants in my life and have never been told that. It left a bad taste in my mouth, but we continued to try to work something out. They were unaware of my allergens, so they went to print the allergen ticket and discuss with the chef. When they returned, they pointed to 2 items on the menu. Both of those had my worst allergens in them. At this point I was starting to get concerned for my safety if I were to eat what they prepared. After identifying those allergens on the pre-written reservation ticket, they spoke with the chef again and said they could make a dish from scratch. To be fair, they were doing their due diligence to rectify the issue, however, at this point I was concerned about the attitude toward my allergies and their mistake in suggesting what would be safe to eat. We decided to leave and went to Chef Geoff's down the street. I recommend you compare my experiences at these two restaurants if you have food allergies. Overall I was honestly shocked and mortified because I have never had an issue like this at any restaurant in my entire allergy-ridden life.
