I've been trying to eat more plant based and remember this place that my mom used to bring me 15+…read moreyears ago?? They have a hot foods section - brown rice with veg (peas/carrot) and 4 options of sides will bring you to $12. I opted for their special of 2 lunch orders to get a free large soup (16oz). The guy really packs in the food so for $12 a box it's def worth if you're in a time crunch and want a filling vegetarian meal. To order, order at the counter, pay at the cashier, and bring back your receipt to collect your food. The food is mildly seasoned and not super oily which I love - I def go home to add hot sauce/red chili flakes at home though. After I got the food I walked around the store to look around. Not sure about the fresh produce, but the dairy section is sooo pricy compared to what I'm used to at Trader Joe's for things like organic milk or non-dairy yogurt. I get that it's a small business but for the amount and speed my household consumes dairy, we got to go for Trader Joe's.

They have healthy options for sour cream, cookies, teas, ice cream, cereals, pasta, sauces, flour, milk, cheese, chips, etc. You name it. They have it. Let's face it - the only trade joe's in Queens is a mess. Way too crowded. And the nearest Whole Foods store is in Manhasset, NY. That's too far if you don't have a car. This store gives queens residents another option for organic, healthy food without having to wait in long lines at Trader Joe's or drive all the way to Manhasset, NY. By the way, this store's vitamin shop is AMAZING. The person who is in charge of the vitamin area is knowledgeable in what to offer clients based on their illness. This store also serves shakes, and meals, which I have yet to try. A "healthy meats" store (extension of this store) opened up nearby and I'll check that out too.

It has 3 levels. Very unique stuff. This was the first place I ever saw sriracha sauce (rooster…read moresauce) many years ago, before it got super popular. Downstairs is a great place to pickup Asian cookware, and plates and such. The items here are so interesting it's entertaining to just walk through.

A visit to this place was not what I expected. The only cool thing was that the place had lots of…read moreginseng - in barrels, in jars, in bags, on boards, and even scotch-taped to walls and shelves. The people in here are not welcoming to non-Chinese Americans at all. When I walked in, I could feel a sense that the two women wanted me to leave ASAP. As I started browsing, one old woman hovered over me as if I was going to steal something. This is the stereotypical reaction usually reserved for thuggish teenagers but not common for well-dressed 40 year old men (although unfair to all people). So as uncomfortable as she was making my experience, I asked, "How much for this?" while gesturing that I was holding money. The woman shook her head back and forth and just kept saying, "no,no, no". As I continued on, the woman seemed to get more frustrated with my browsing and would stand in my view of ginseng products and put her hands up. I then asked for permission to take a photo of the store, for my own personal memories, only to receive an angry reaction from the woman who suddenly understood the English language. Meanwhile, two Chinese customers walked in and immediately were greeted with words and smiles by the other woman. I would never return to this place, would not recommend anyone to shop here, and will insist to local community boards and policy makers that businesses like this should not exist in this manner. There are no prices displayed for items, descriptions only written in Chinese, and employees alienating customers potentially based on race or culture. The possible illegitimate business taking place here should be investigated. Zero stars!

Not that exciting a selection, especially for a "natural" market of their size. If you've been to…read moresimilar markets where the selection is filled to the brim with tight spacing, you'll know what I mean. It feels like everything that they sell, you can for sure get at the store next door or the Foodtown a block away for a fraction of the price. Prices are so exaggerated here (even for organic), it's almost mindblowing to think that they can charge the prices that they charge--and there will be people paying these prices. It's also always incredibly fast-paced in here for some reason, you'd think you were at a Trader Joe's during rush hour. Also wild that they don't have scanners at checkout and have to punch in prices manually, as if they were a small fruit and vegetable shop. Even though I am not their target customer, I can appreciate that it's still a longstanding mom-and-pop business that's trying to survive with the influx of chain businesses that are rapidly changing the neighborhood.

It had a nice bright color to it like freshly ground beef normally looks however when I got home and opened it to make burgers, I found the top layer of fresh meat was hiding older less fresh almost gray colored meat underneath. I've also bought steaks, pork chops and seafood without any problems but I never bought ground beef from them again. Without this incident, it would have been a 4 star review.

I love how you don't have to pay per pound for their mala pots. We ordered the combo for 2 but it was definitely plenty of food for even 3 people. We were able to choose 12 items that include veggies, meats, seafood, and noodles. They have a huge selection of options and they were fairly generous with everything so it was nice to have the variety. You're able to personalize your spice level. The group I came with could not handle spice so we got less spicy, the level above no spice. I was pleasantly surprised with how flavorful it was without an excessive amount of heat. The flavor was delicious and everything was cooked well. The staff were very friendly and even offered a free dessert at the end of the meal.
