I participated at a Plantnite at Bertucci's in Huntington last night and had a really nice time. Our host, Steven, was really friendly and did a nice job talking us through the planting process, checking in on our progress, and keeping the overall mood fun and positive. I especially enjoyed the planting oath he had us take before we started. My only complaint came with the supplies. I was hoping we would get more than 3 succulents, or to at least get to choose the ones we used, but I do understand that can be difficult to manage. And in the end it worked out for me because the original planter I wanted had run out and was bigger, so the three plants I received fit nice--the bigger one would have had too much empty space. Also, by the time some of the decorations made their way to our end of the table it was slim pickings. Steven did alternate which end of the table he started at, but I felt like for the price you should be able to get the specific supplies you wanted. Even with that, I still had a nice time and would totally do a Yaymaker event again. They're always a fun night out. read more

This event was fun! We decided on "Cornflower N Dairies" Paint Nite event on a Saturday because weekdays are just difficult to manage. The location is for this event was Saturday at Michael's Porthole 92 New St. Oceanside, NY. This location is not easy to get to and if you don't have a GPS or a good map you can be lost. Even with a GPS we were a little confused because we "Have reached our destination" but still almost 2 block away and going in the winter time there is no one around on this dead end road to ask for information.Luckily we found Michael's Porthole. The painting area was setup in their large bar room that remind me of a beer garden. The structure is no permanent, a canvas cover roof so it was pretty cold when we arrived. I had to get two cup of hot coffee before I warmed up. I recommend getting here early to get the best seat you can; many of the seats were already reserved for groups. The available open seats were on the ends or sides of the room and the lighting can been good or bad. I prefer a bright spot so I can see better. Before you start go take a photo of the sample painting put up by the instructor so you can look at it at your seat. The Instructor has a headset and walks you through the whole 2-hour event. Two assistants were helping the students and the restaurant staff is always available for drinks and food. Yes, some people were eating burgers and painting at the same time. The whole painting experience was fun! Some people are very good painters and some are there for the fun experience. Check the internet for discounts. ***Note: the locations inside NYC has a surcharge on the Groupon deal. That was why we went out to Long Island instead of locations in Queens. read more

My first Paint Nite and definitely not the last. I purchased two reserved seats as birthday treat for my daughter, actually for the two of us as my birthday was a day after her. We picked a day before her birthday and the event for that night was held in K Pacho New Hyde Park. It was a fun filled night. No expectation from myself but oh my gosh, can't believe for my final painting. Everyone in the room was probably so proud of themselves with their own masterpiece. Our instructor was detailed in her instruction. She has a sample on the floor and give us a step by step instruction while doing it at same time with us. It's entirely up to us to drink and paint , which I believe is what they are selling here because it is more enjoyable doing it while taking a sip of our favorite drinks. She gave us 10 min break in between to dry the first part of our project and for us to grab a bite of something if we want to. They were right, you don't have to be experienced. Just listen to the instruction and follow what's your mind and heart and let your hands freely do it. The supplies are provided as well as the smock . If you pick your event, choose what's convenient with you in terms of level of art, venue and date. Their website gives 35% discount and the price includes one drink. They welcome Groupon users too , price is lower as it does not include the drinks. You could order from the place holding the event anyway. Try it yourself, you won't have any regrets. read more

On Oct 6.20 I was so looking forward to a Yaymaker virtual event that started at 6PM PST. Unfortunately life got in the way and cost me the first 10 min of the event. When I attempted to join the ZOOM event the host ignored my attempts and so I was not allowed entrance/participation. My 4 emails to Yaymaker.com have resulted in no response to my request for a voucher to be used for a future event....not such a big ask considering the circumstances and the $15 I had paid to participate. Be aware....trying to get any response from Yaymaker except their acceptance of you registration fee which they quickly take....you are going to find yourself out in the cold. H Dillon read more

This was our first Paint Nite and decently not our last. We went to Bertuccis in Melville. Get there early so you can get a good seat, these events fill up quick. We were lucky enough to find a seat next to each other. We signed in and grabbed our supplies. We had a few minutes before the event started. I went to the bar to grab a drink. The bar was a little busy, but there were three bartenders. I waited for over ten minutes to get a drink. Being a bartender myself I was a little annoyed in the service at the bar but this review is not about Bertuccis itself. Anyways after finally getting my drink, we sat down and the class was about to being. Mallory was tonight s instructor, she was spunky and fun. I knew this was going to be a fun night. There was music playing and she was cracking jokes. They teach you step by step the painting for the night. You don't need to have any experience at all. The night lasted about 2 hours. We did stop for a 15 minute break. This also allow time for some paint to dry. Bertuccis had a server that went around taking food and drink orders. White an order you received a raffle ticket, the end of the night they drew a winner. The person one a gift certificate to Bertuccis, I thought that was pretty cool. I bought my tickets for this event on Groupon. Normally the class is $45, I ended up paying only $25 per ticket. At the end of the night Mallory gave everyone a coupon code to buy tickets for another night and save another $20. In the end we had a great time, I would definitely recommend this to everyone. Great time at Paint Nite hosted by Amara Kitchen and Cocktails in Blue Point! Went with two of my girlfriends and we had all used a Groupon for $20 off the $45 cost, paid $25. I was surprised that even though this was an Intermediate painting, it was not as hard as I thought it was going to be and that is a GREAT thing! I am far from being artistic and I was worried my painting would turn out to be a hot mess, lol. Instructor was fun and explained the steps clearly and thoroughly. I recently went ro a paintnite event at Trattoria Lucia Restaurant Bellerose. It was a fundraisering event to be exact. The instructor Ruby was so helpful and pleasant & the restaurant was really accommodating as well. I have tried paintnite in the past but didn't love it. I did love the last one. Perhaps it was the way the instructor really helped out and the food and drinks were flowing. read more

Tony Tan & Trattoria Lucia Rock!! Went to an event this Friday evening and we had a great time. First of all, its the only place that has a later event in town and secondly they did it right. The artist really knows how to teach a class while keeping it fun, and the restaurant knows how to make great drinks and delicious food. The place had a lot of light and although it was packed it was not overly crowded. We have tried it in a Long Island location last time and it wasn't as much fun as it was this past Friday. This was my third paint nite! I have had Lorraine the first time and Hannah the last two times. I loved them both! I really love Lorraine's enthusiasm and the way heather explains the steps. I have been to eat gastropub , billys beach cafe and the meetball place. I'm actually going back to the meetball place next Tuesday! I really loved it there and at eat. I didn't like billys beach cafe I thought it was dirty and the service was not good at all. I don't think paint nite should associate with them. The other two places were amazing, although the lighting wasn't good at eat everything else was! I haven't painted since I was in elementary school and they go through everything step by step and everyone comes out with a picture pretty close to the artists. It's a really fun time especially with a glass of wine!! :-) do it you won't be disappointed, it's always on groupon and they gave coupon codes on there Facebook too! EDIT** our previous artist never posted the pictures from eat gastropub annoying but anyway we went to paint nite again last night! The meetball place again which has the best service I have ever seen at paint nite. We did the hardest painting on the site. The 4 wine glasses This is our third artist we have had and we thought she would be more descriptive since it was so hard but after the first glass she wanted us to do it on our own. Her mic kept cutting out and she she did explain to a degree but not like the other artists who really went through every step and constantly walked around after every little detail. Great concept! I have been to other "paint n sip" types of places on Long Island before but really had the best time here! You get to chose a place to paint and a particular painting and they raffle off prizes and give great instruction. It is fun, drama free and just an all out good time out!
