I purchased 6 tickets for a fundraising event through Yaymaker. Due to the coronavirus crisis, the event was cancelled - which is completely understandable. However, Yaymaker is refusing to refund my ticket purchase. Now, I could understand not issuing a refund if I had cancelled or failed to show for the event. Also, I have no idea whether or not Yaymaker is contributed the fundraising part of the ticket price to the charity I wanted to support. I have no interest whatsoever in signing up for virtual painting classes. My entire purpose in purchasing the tickets was to introduce friends to the good work of the charity I wanted to support. I can't believe this refund policy is even legal and will be investigating with my local Attorney General. At the very least, it is terrible business practice. Will never purchase from Yaymaker again. read more

I was really looking forward to a Paint Nite today, but I just received an e-mail informing me that the event that my friends and I had purchases tickets for weeks ago, has been cancelled due to weather! Really? We can't paint because it's raining outside? I really don't understand it at all. Also, I think it's crazy that they can cancel an event less than four hours before it is suppose to start, when they, themselves have a 48 hours cancelation policy. read more

I've had sooo much fun attending these events. I gone to 4 different events at 3 different venues (2 were at the Amalfi). I liked the Amalfi best bc there's more space and better food. The classes are not formal, instructional classes, rather they encourage creativity. I chose this as my reintroduction to art bc I wanted a low stress, low cost way to start again. I didn't wanna have to go and buy art supplies just yet, I wanted to get my feet wet first. I enjoy the informal environment, the easy pace, and even tho there's no actual 'teaching' being done, I have picked up a few tips and pointers from the instructors. The event supplies everything: paint, brushes, canvas, smock. Registration is online and very simple. You can even cancel online 48 hrs before ur event and reschedule (there are no refunds). They are always running deals and there's a 20 dollar off coupon on yelp. I highly encourage everyone to give this a try! read more

I wouldn't give my experience a 1 star!!! I bought 12 Groupon tickets for Paint Nite as Mother's Day gifts to my friends. The artist listed was Brittany Ko, the venue was at Sara's Wine Bar in Culver City. I went to check the place before the event and to my surprise, it was closed for renovations. I did not get any notice from Paint Nite nor the artist Kimberly Ko, whom Paint Nite can't seem to get hold of. The owner of Sara's Wine Bar was not even aware that there were scheduled painting events at her place, since they're remodeling. Paint Nite's website has several future dates listed at this venue. It's so unorganized and disappointing! I requested a full refund but now being referred to Groupon to get my money back. On the other hand, Paint and Pour in Redondo Beach is working with me, despite the short notice. read more

My coworkers and I had a fun time. My only gripe is that the instructor stood in the far corner, rather than in the center of the group of painters. My group and I stood up the entire class in order to see the instruction. The location was very cramped. read more

Paint nite was a fun and interesting experience. I appreciate the fact that Groupon had a discount for a group of 4. The picture said easy, but I didn't find it as easy. That's okay, it takes practice. The venue was a bit small, I wish it had more space so it would not feel so crowded. Jose was fun and entertaining. Although some of the ladies didn't seem to care for his jokes. He tried his best. I felt a bit rushed during the time we am were starting to paint. Had the best time at paint nite for a work holiday event!! So relaxing and fun. Our instructor (don't rmbr her name - Nikki?) was awesome - hands on but not in your face every 2 minutes, and she did an excellent job teaching us new techniques to achieve the look we wanted for our painting. This is the 3rd time I've been to a Paint Nite event and they're always fun! It's a great activity for any occasion or if you just want to relax after a long day. The instructors are friendly and helpful. Sometimes it does get hard to follow because they go pretty fast, but they usually give you enough time to catch up with a few breaks in between. Definitely get some drinks from the bar..they help you paint better! :D read more

We did a Paintnite at C&O off of Washington Ave in Venice Beach. Our teacher was Elizabeth and she was awesome. Great instructions and advice and I love my finished product (who knew) . My daughters and I went to paint nite for a birthday celebration in Santa Monica last night. We had dinner before hand and got seats together. The instructor was fine, but the actual class place was so cramped, we had only the small easel space to work in. The paints were under the easel, the water was behind it and we were banging elbows with our neighbors. And we got one small plastic plate to try and mix5 different colors. I had to ask for an additional plate, but I got another plate with no room. It would be better to get one with the paints and another for the mixing. AND the waiter brought me a drink because I asked for it just before the class, then we never saw another one all night. If this is 'sip and paint' why don't they have waiters come into the room to take orders?? The painting part was fun and it was interesting to see everyone's finished product, but the execution sucked! read more

This company is a joke. I purchased 4 groupons for this and the company was no help at all when I was trying to book them. Not even a phone number to call. I had to call my credit card company to cancel all the charges. I would not recommend buying Groupon's for this class and I would not recommend even trying to book through their website as if you have any problems expect getting a response in a day or two and it not be useful at all. I purchased a groupon deal for Paint Nite at Almalfi restaurant in Los Angeles. I had no issues parking though traffic was a pain. The restaurant was quaint and pretty quiet. Drinks were reasonable but not included with groupon deal. The instructor was awesome and my painting came out better than expected! I would recommend this for singles, couples and small groups. read more

My Paint Nite event was held at The Phoenix in Beverly Hills. Instructor: Rico Rivera. There was group of us girls (7 total) that purchased Groupon deals online. We had a blast. Note: The deal does NOT include the price of wine. Luckily, The Phoenix had happy hour food & drink specials until 9pm. The price for one glass of wine? $3.00 - AWESOME! If you go with a large group, be sure to get there early in order to save seats, otherwise you'll be split up. I was looking to book a private event for bachelorette party of about 12-15 people. I was provided with one flat rate of $840.00 for up to 20 people and an extra $35.00 for each additional person. I did not understand the pricing and asked if there was a discount for parties under 20 since less supplies were required and I did not want to pay for supplies we weren't utilizing. Paint Nite refused to negotiate, when I asked what was driving the cost of the party, I was told it was the "custom experience." As a retailer I understand that "custom experience" in a saturated market is not a true cost driver - essentially they were charging my smaller party at a higher margin rate than a party of 20 or more. If you are looking to book a private event in the Cleveland, Ohio area, I would suggest using Artists Uncork'd - they are reasonably priced, delightful to work with and I still got to have that "custom experience" that Paint Nite overvalues. read more

The first time I went to a Paint nite event was February 22, 2017. It was for my 26th birthday and I had nothing but good things to say about the instructor as well as the time I had. After that night, I was anxious to go again so I decide to schedule another event. The night before my friends and I were suppose to go I received an email from the company notifying me that the event I had scheduled was cancelled. At the time I didn't think it was a big deal so I got my voucher code to reschedule the cancelled event and went on with my life. A day before the event I had rescheduled, I received the same event cancellation email from the company. By this time I was very frustrated because I had waited 2 1/2 months for this event. When I emailed the company my concerns and explained what had happened, they apologized and gave me a free ticket for my friend and I. That was satisfying for my friend and I and therefore we rescheduled our event for the third time.... Then yet again, I received a cancellation email the night before the event I was scheduled to go to on May 5th. Needless to say, I won't ever schedule an event with this company again or use my free voucher because my event was rescheduled in the first place. read more

If you want to do a Paint Nite, I'd highly recommend going to Paint & Sip, where you're given a ton of instruction, 3 hours to do a painting, pencils, wine glasses, and a small class size. Paint Nite at El Torito was terrible, our instructor gave our class 2 instructions, literally, and waited for us to be finished. My friends and I were lost. She wasn't helpful when I asked for help. All of our paintings were completely different in the end because we were given almost no instruction. Not for beginners and not worth the price. read more

Though I was initially upset about the difficulty and confusion involved in scheduling attendance at an event, when my daughter and I finally did get to the event, it was very fun. It was like rebooting your brain for two hours, thinking of nothing but spreading pretty colors on the canvas like a kindergartner, not thinking of anything stressful at all. At the end, though everyone there painted the same subject, we all ended up with different amazingly good paintings! Plus discount tickets for another paint night! Four of us attended tonight at the El Torito in Long Beach. Our instructor was Jordan and her assistant was Bradley. They were very cheap on the supplies and the class felt disorganized and the lighting at El Torito is absolutely horrible. I thought it should've at least included a glass of wine or beer for the price of $25. Our paint palette was a paper plate and there was a small quarter sized amount of red blue black white and yellow paints and a small canvas provided. The assistant refused to give out A new paper plate after mixing colors, and the plates got messy, or change water for the students. The dirty water was affecting the quality of my painting and when I asked him to change it, he told me that if he changed it for me he would have to change it for everyone else and was encouraging the class not to ask for clean water to clean the brushes. At the end of class, Bradley, the assistant, showed us his painting and his painting was a sign that said "Bradleys tips" and he encouraged us to put money in the jar for he and the instructor. Jordan is a great artist, but not a great teacher. Overall fun night because of the fun women at our table. It was good for a one time thing, but I won't be back. read more

Paint Nite was so much fun! I was a little skeptical at first since I am terrible at drawing. I could barely draw stick figures (not kidding). To my surprise, my painting actually came out looking really nice. The instructor and his helper were amazing and they teach you how to mix colors and provided swatches so that everyone was on the same page. We painted Island Palms and it was rated moderately hard since there were so many colors and techniques involved, but honestly like they say NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. I have zero experience and zero creativity. It was really cool because at the end, everyone got to share their paintings and took pictures. Everyone is painting the same thing but everyone's paintings had their own unique touches. I remember looking over my shoulder and I saw this lady's painting and it looked soo amazing because she decided to get creative and add her own little details. If you think you can't paint, you're wrong because you can. This is perfect for girls night out, date night or just hanging out with friends. Plus, you can order drinks and you can drink creatively... :) read more

Took my wife to paint night hosted at Guido's in West LA/Santa Monica area. It was our 3rd anniversary and we wanted to do something a little different. It was a wonderful evening. The instructor was very attentive and my painting actually came out really decent. I purchased 3 vouchers from Living Social/Groupon on 11/22/18 with intentions of attending the January 2 event posted on their website to take place at Cask & Pig Kitchen in North Dartmouth, MA to be run by Devin Mclaughlin while vacationing in Cape Cod. I sent 10 emails between 11/22-12/25 requesting they post the photo of the painting what would be done that night. ShiSha responded (mostly via automated emails) and finally Sam said he would look into it on 12/24. When I checked their website on 12/25, the 1/2 event was removed. I had 3 chats with Living Social and each resulted in their stating the money ($76) was not refundable. I then attempted to used the voucher to enroll in an event in Schenectady, NY on 1/7, only 1 voucher worked - the other two came up as "invalid". In total, I sent 13 emails to Paintnite, received 13 responses (mostly automated) and had 3 chats with Living Social. I have 2 vouchers that are "invalid" and one scheduled to attend the Schenectady event (which I won't go alone). Total waste of money and time. Extremely POOR customer service from ShiSha and Sam and Living Social. Stay away from Paintnite and Living Social/Groupon unless you want to throw your money away. I would rate them a Negative 10 if it were an option.. they don't deserve the 1 star rating. read more

After attending several Orange County Paint Nite events, I eventually got so into painting that I purchased my own supplies for home. I started with no experience whatsoever, and now I feel comfortable painting. I still attend Paint Nite events with friends and family though, because I always learn something new and it's also a fun social atmosphere. I went last night and I must say that the artist made it very hard for me to enjoy what should have been a wonderful experience. I thought that sitting in the front would have given me a great angle to see the canvas that the artist was painting, I was wrong. The artist stood in front of the canvas that he was painting 90% of the time, blocking it from my view. When I informed him that I couldn't see, which meant that I couldn't paint, he sat down. All was right in the world until 5 minutes later, when he stood back up. Because the artist blocked my view, it was hard for me to keep up with his step by step visual instructions. I actually had a great time at Paint nite both times I went. At my second event I was told by the instructor that we could have a private function with a minimum of 8 people for $30 a person (which is the price I paid for me and my wife). I thought Paint Nite would be a great idea for me and my coworkers so I gathered 20 people and picked a location that Paint Nite frequently uses. I did half the work for them... I got the OK from Joe's Crab Shack to have it on a specific night and even collected half the money from 20 invites. When I contacted PaintNite some how the price changed and I needed an $840 deposit just to book the event. After explaining my situation to one of the coordinators (Susan) she assured me I would still be able to hold the event for the price that was expressed to me from jump. After 4 days of calling and no response, on the 5th day she finally answered the phone and stated that I would have to pay the $840 deposit (even though my party would only cost $600 total) or I could buy ALL the tickets for a Monday night event and she could change the picture... I didn't even want a Monday because of our work schedule and it was just the principle that she went back on her word after ensuring me it wouldn't be a problem. read more
