Not sure why there are so many negative reviews. Sure, it's definitely expensive ($12+ for 2 tacos!!) but they're not tiny tacos either. And they're GOOD. We tried the Sonora Tacos (flour tortilla, steak, pico, and guacamole sauce), and they were DIVINE. The steak was SO flavorful and tender, the pico added a perfect freshness, and the guacamole sauce was rich, creamy, and delicious. I loved it, and the tacos were packed with a lot of meat! Do not get the Veggie Quesadilla! I was so excited to see they had a vegetable quesadilla option since I don't eat meat. Maybe it's on me for assuming a vegetable quesadilla would consist of Bell Peppers, onions, and beans, but I was not expecting for them to just throw some coleslaw in a tortilla with some cheese and call it a day. I visited this food truck on Wednesday at noon at the Music Row location in Nashville. I didn't know it was possible to have 'Mexican' and 'Gourmet' in the same sentence when describing a food truck, since I am so used to eating at rundown Mexican roach coaches, which interestingly get over 90+ scores on city inspections (maybe they actually scored 06 and taped the paper upside down, HA!). I ordered three items: chicken quesadilla, legend taco, and steak taco (they don't allow ordering just 1 taco). For $2.50 per taco, I was disappointed to see that they were so small. Again I am used to eating delicious tacos (same size) for $1. I tried the steak taco first. It was juicy, but the flavor was average/mediocre. Nothing stood out, but it wasn't bad either. So I thought to myself: not every item from one establishment has to be good. I moved on to the legend taco, which consists of meats: brisket, chorizo, and chicharron. This taco was juicy and flavorful. Out of the three items I ordered, this was probably the best. The chicken quesadilla was flat out disappointing. The chicken was utterly flavorless. I had to pile on the hot sauces to make up for it. For a place that markets itself as a Mexican food truck, the meats remind me more of Puerto Rican flavor instead. Even then it was still disappointing, especially for the price. Pretty paint, colorful menus, and nice uniforms/aprons don't justify the quality to cost ratio here. Chicken quesadilla + legend taco + azada taco = $12.07. And I was still left hungry (unusual, since a quesadilla and 1 taco usually fill me up). If I ordered two tacos and a quesadilla at a delicious roach coach, it would have been $6 total. read more

Extremely bland tacos. I ordered two of the chicken tacos with a side of the "hotter" hot sauce. The shredded chicken had no flavor and the hot sauce somehow didn't have any flavor either. Not sure how that is possible, but Yayo's managed to do it. I chose the chicken for cost reasons and that I didn't want to spend $9.00 for two of the fish tacos. I'm glad I didn't spend more because I would have been rather angry had I spent that much for blah tacos. Mine were $5.00 so that was a bonus, but they were bland and left me hungry. Was at the amphitheater to watch a concert and saw the food truck , thoguht to give it a shot as it said Gourmet Mexican food. Ordered a Cheese Quesadilla with chicken, they were quick to make it and did not take more than 7 minutes. Presentation was 5 stars but taste was 3 stars. OMG is right! Wow!!! Just tried this food truck for the first time tonight and I will be following them from now on. Let's start with the service, the ladies were super sweet and accommodating with our order. Gourmet Mexican food! Wanderland Urban Food Park has had trucks at Elmington Park on West End every weekend in February. We haven't missed a single weekend. We usually come into Nashville on Saturday to run errands but we had to make a special trip on Sunday because that was the only day we could find this truck and we love mexican food. We shared the legend tacos and quesadillas. The legend tacos were filled with brisket, chorizo, and this amazing sauce. The chicken quesadilla that was topped with crema fresca was more delicious than the tacos. If you are a mexican food lover then you should track down this truck for a real treat. read more

I can't really give an opinion on anything else on their menu other than these, since it's the only thing I've tried. I think the chicken tacos were amazing, the M&M is delicious, and the Mexican soup (when they have it) is also fabulous. But I've also had some not so good things. The carnitas taco was dry and the meat was a bit hard in some places. And um... I'm posting a picture of the chorizo tacos. See for yourself! I think that I wouldn't be so annoyed if the price wasn't so high. But they make their own tiny tortillas for the hit and miss tiny tacos. We ate at the food truck at Centennial Park & who doesn't crave tacos at a festival?? I got the mahi-mahi taco & shrimp taco. Both very good. They had the right simplicity, but I wish they were bigger, or that I had ordered more (and yes, I know that street tacos are small, I just really liked them). Bother the fish & shrimp were lightly fried and had cilantro, slaw and a little sauce on them. The mahi-mahi also has a sprinkle of cheese. My hubs & friends also got the legend taco which has chorizo and skirt steak - it was my least favorite, but I'm also not big on chorizo so I feel like my opinion is biased. I have definitely jumped on board the recent food truck fad that has hit Nashville, and I can safely say that I hope it sticks around for a long time. That said, I have had Yayo's O.M.G. on three occasions and thrice they have impressed me. There's just something about a mobile "Gourmet" mexican food truck that sounds just so right. I mean really, think about it, most mexican joints are as likely to be serving you roadkill from a roach motel as they are mexican food. So, right off the bat there's just something funny about a mexican food truck and throw in the "gourmet" and I had to try it. The entrees that I have had, which are reasonably priced at around $7 to $8 each, were the Legend tacos, the veggie tacos (forgot their nifty name), and the equivalent of a quesadilla with chicken inside. All of the ingredients appeared fresh, tasted fresh, and are locally sourced (from what I understand). What can I say? I am a sucker for supporting local and small businesses. In the world of food trucks, I find the wait at Yayo's OMG to be a bit longer once your food has been ordered compared to several of the other food trucks: riff's and The Grilled Cheeserie in particular. Even hossburgers seems to get you your goodies a bit faster. I mean the food at Yayo's OMG is great but I just can't stand the wait. All and all, I'd eat there again - but not necessarily if other food trucks were around. read more

My friends and I came to a Business Boutique Conference and there were a number of food trucks to choose from. We decided we felt like tacos, so we hopped in line for Yayo's O.M.G. The line was moving surprisingly fast compared to the rest of the trucks, so we got to the front of the line fairly quickly. I orders the MM Quesadilla con Chorizo porque me enchanta chorizo mucho. My friend ordered the tacos. Once we get our food we sit down in the grass and dig in. I love everything spicy so I think the hot sauce could have had more kick to it. The chorizo was delicious and went very well with the cheese. It was very heavy and oily (to be expected) so I didn't finish it all but it delicious and so were my friends tacos so she claims. So I wandered across this food truck at West End Park last Sunday. Seems like food trucks frequent this spot in nice weather. It was there with the Grilled Cheesierie, Urban wrappers, and an ice cream truck that wasn't really marked. I opted for Yayo's and think I made a great choice. I ordered the Legend Taco's a great choice. The food was excellent, great flavor in the meat, they added some fried pig skin (pork rinds) for some crunch, amazing. Cilantro, onions, and some other greens sitting on top some corn tortillas. The taste was on point. I will say it seemed a bit expensive. $8.99 for just the two tacos and nothing else. Service wasn't real fast either. There wasn't really any sort of line when I ordered and only one other person waiting on an order and it seemed like I was waiting awhile. I guess it's not fast food but I just figured for a food truck it seems slow. Despite where it trips up I think you will really enjoy their food. read more

We hit this truck up over at Yazoo and had dinner with some wine. I had one of their specials that night, shredded chicken in a fried corn tortilla cup (?). It was so good! The last time I had these flavors was in Mexico. You must check out this truck you won't be disappointed! PS. For those who are fearful of food trucks... Chef Yayo Jimenez and his team consistently throw down culinary offerings that are out of this world. My Family and I will continue making a special trip to see them every chance we get; we will drive far and wide to partake in the Shrimp or Fish tacos, as well as the Chicken, Carnitas, or aptly named "Legend" (brisket, chorizo, & chicharrón). I have had many tacos, but theirs are head and shoulders above all others- that is why it is called Original Mexican Gourmet, after all. I've been wanting to try this truck for quite some time. When they came to our neighborhood my family was excited. We ordered the Mahi tacos, the shrimp tacos, and a steak quesadilla. It was all delicious. The staff were very nice and presentation of the food was wonderful. Often times I feel food trucks charge premium prices for mediocre food but with YaYo's I felt none of this. Food is good. I love food. This food is great. But I think there are 2 things that are an issue here. #1 it is over priced. 2 tacos for $8.99 and no sides. Let me say this. The 2 tacos come with 4 shells and enough filling to fill those 4 shells but that is still OVERpriced. My husband loves the Mahi Mahi tacos and the shrimp tacos and again, they are filled with lots of seafood and yumminess. Still overpriced. #2. I think they take themselves way to seriously and the older lady that runs the window sometimes is a bit to fond of talking to people in a manner that doesn't exactly scream customer service/friendly. I do not call this gourmet. I call this good food that is warm and fills your belly with great flavors. I stick with the legend tacos and they are just fine but I have an issue with the price again. It will always fall back to the price with me. If you are charging $8.99 for 2 tacos and $11.99 for 3 and then an additional $1.99 for "mexican rice" which is just white rice with peas, corn and carrots then I think we need to go back and re-evaluate what we have going on here. If I could get 2 tacos for me and 2 for hubs for $15.00 or less I would be ok. Don't get me wrong, I am still going to eat from Yayo's but I want to laugh really hard when the woman looks out at someone and says "we're pretty gourmet here hun". No, you aren't. You're overpriced and while the food is pretty good, it isn't melt in your mouth heaven. This was so delicious! They came to my work for food truck day. I'm from Southern California and HAD to try the fish tacos. At first glance, I was nervous. When they said, "cole slaw" on a fish taco, I thought normal picnic cole slaw. No way! This is a lightly sweet cole slaw that perfectly complimented the flavor of the fish.
