Been coming to Cilantro for YEARS. I've written school papers here, taken actual finals here, emotionally spiraled here, spiritually healed here, gotten a little too lit here, and consumed an illegal amount of tacos, quesadillas, and fajitas. I've lost count. My GPA probably improved because of this place. Today I also ran into my future wife here. Did I say hi? No. Did I panic internally and replay it for the rest of my life? Yes. Came here recently with a friend and had a good time. The service was extremely quick and very nice. The interior felt like a local, cozy Mexican restaurant which I appreciated on a rainy night. My friend and I got the large queso to share and it was great! A little runny but good flavor and the chips were yummy. I got the strawberry daiquiri and it was my first daiquiri ever, tasted like there was no alcohol in it. My friend got the pink panther and it tasted like a spiked Shirley temple. We also got margaritas we drank before I remembered to take a pic. Very solid drinks and prices ($8 for first round each, $15 for jumbo margs). Ordered a nacho bar for a catered event for 14 people. We were told the food would be ready by 12:30 but when we arrived service wasn't helpful- they asked if we wanted a table but when we said we were here for pick up they said oh ok. Let me preface with there is no hate here, I just historically have not cared for their food and that's ok, I'm a vegetarian and not their target. Their chips and salsa were made for someone else as well. They do very interesting margaritas, and that's what I was there for the last time I went. My wife decided we should share what appeared to be a birdbath of margaritas with dehydrated fruit floating in a seal of tequila and it was pretty tasty and probably clocked in at a significant ounce count. Seemed mostly flavor and less tequila. Perhaps I was just not in a place to appreciate it. Parking was easy, the place was not crowded, the place is best enjoyed on a crisp fall night if you're on the patio and that just wasn't the last night I was there. Great place, glad it exists, good to meet friends at for a drink or take kids for the best cheese quesadilla ever (according to my youngest who claims that everywhere). My oldest claims to have finished her plate in 2 minutes and I'm not sure it was that fast but it was close. Think she's past the kids menu now. It's good, just not for me. I also was a bit weirded out the last time I was there by people taking my photograph and attempting to sell it to me for $15. Pretty disappointing experience. There's a reason people don't talk about this place... I was really excited to try it especially with how clean and updated it looked on the inside. The menu is also full of apparently very photoshopped pictures so everything looks delicious. I informed the waiter of my bean allergy, and was still brought a plate of beans. This was frustrating because I told our waiter I was allergic to beans and asked if I could sub the means for more rice or corn or something and he said yes we can do corn. I couldn't find the corn on the menu and he didn't give me a price. Our waiter was the one who brought out the food which is why I was more disappointed because we had just had this whole conversation about no beans due to allergy. The corn is terrible. It is so mushy and has a weird sour taste?? And then, I was charged $8 FOR REALLY BAD CORN!! I was shocked the waiter didn't tell me that replacing the beans would cost $8. That is just bad service. Walked in, sat at the bar. Got water and chips and salsa without asking while my michelada was being made. Took longer than expected it totally worth the wait. That first drink was perfect, exactly what I was hoping for taste wise. Music was good and perfect volume, tvs and cool art everywhere. The food was amazing. Filling ! Bigger portion than expected. 12/17/23: Cute, welcoming neighborhood spot. Staff friendly and accommodating. Food is delicious so that I ate it all and forgot to take a pic. One of the few times the camera didn't eat first. We stopped at Cilantro after an NSC game and were please to be seated right away. (It was a week day night). Being a pleasant evening we opted for the 'patio' seating which is covered and does have sides that drop but they had opened a few of them and it was perfect. Server was great. He admitted to being new but when asked something he didn't know, willingly offered to go track down the answer. That's how you learn to be a great server! They do serve draft beer, so always a plus. Chips arrived with small bowls of salsa but were refilled as needed. It's a fairly standard menu for a Mexican Grill. I ordered the Shrimp Taco Bowl. It was quite good, plenty of shrimp that were well cooked, not over cooked. The salad also actually contained some lettuce which I like in my taco SALAD. We visited this restaurant while in town for a church/work event. Mexican is usually the last cuisine I choose because I've eaten it too much (is that a thing??) and this wasn't my choice. I'm not a big salsa with chips person but this was, hands down, the best restaurant salas I've ever tasted. Fajitas and the street tacos are some of my faves. We just tried the pork nachos and we both thought they were great- a nice bbq sauce also.
