Old style community watering hole. Decent bar fare; wing Wednesdays. Bar keep is friendly. Relaxed vibe.

There were so many wonderful flavors: rose sugar in the opening snack, smoked mussels and saffron foam in the soup, homemade ricotta in the carrot pasta, spruce sorbet palette cleanser,, an incredible steak, rhubarb ice cream. Wow! Super unique. Service was friendly and professional. The dining room is small and the ceiling is a bit low, so the noise level is pretty high when the room is full. We were across from a table of 6 and one gentleman did not know how to use an inside voice, so we had to lean in to talk over this loud talker. But that's not the restaurant's fault. I think the price is really a bargain for what you will experience. Bring a nice bottle of wine and enjoy! We're already looking for reservations later this summer! Fantastic!

A side stop between State College and Harrisburg. We went with friends and brought a few bottles of wine (byow-no cork fee). We were the last seating of the night at 7:45 PM. This is a fixed price, fixed menu, 5-course meal, with a surprise 6th appetizer, all with a "Fall" theme as we visited in September. This is a farm-to-table restaurant with many items coming from their garden. I wouldn't say the menu options were my favorite but the presentation was excellent. Everything was delicious, service was great and it was a beautiful evening with friends. We were there past 10 PM as the restaurant came to a close. I'm glad places like this exist outside of the typical urban setting - thank you!

I look at the menu now and there's so so so many things that look good one of those "can't decide" places. Nothing has been anything but exceptional the last 3 times I've been there. My kids even got a kick out of "make your own s'mores". The only thing I can complain about is the apps cost. They're upfront about it so that's not even a complaint....just I wish they weren't as much as they are but that's not going to keep me from getting them. (Sounds dangerous doesn't it? It is!) None of my family are alcohol drinkers so....I can't speak for the bar (but last time I was with a larger party I did buy someone a drink and it was excellent service there too. So I'll go with the assumption that they stayed exceptional there as well). At this point....you must check it out.

The filet was AWESOME! I highly recommend a steak here. I got it with mushrooms and blue cheese on it. Baked potato came with pre packaged sour cream but a good size. The shaved Brussels sprouts were severely undersized. I ask for some more when my plate arrived, and of course Melanie charged me for them. Lastly the sprouts were almost inedible due how much salt they put in them.... There is salt on the table there is no reason for it... I'd say the place is hit or miss! Ask who will be your server!!!

The recent menu has a great diversity of options ranging from salads, sandwiches, and entrees. I elected to go with the Birra ramen, not something I would expect to find at this establishment or in this neck of the woods. I was knocked back at how good it was. The broth had rich flavor and the right amount of spice, not enough to burn your mouth, but warm it up and tingle your lips. The beef was tender and cooked to perfection. It hit the spot on a chilly winter night. If you find yourself in the gap and looking for spot to grab a good hearty bite to eat and drink, the Red Horse is your spot!

We tried stopping in once before and they were completely booked for the night. This time we planned ahead, made a reservation, and were seated right away. At the recommendation of our waitress, we all ordered the chicken and waffles special, and every single person loved it. It was absolutely delicious. I also had the Reuben soup and it was very tasty. They also have a wonderful beer selection. I tried the blueberry beer, which was very tasty with a smooth blueberry finish that really stood out. If you're looking for a great brewery with good food, great beer, and a fun atmosphere, I would definitely recommend checking this place out!

Just not sure about the merinara sauce to go with the fries. Of the beers I tried, my favorite was the Swish (Swedish Fish-inspired sour beer). Service was great- our waitress was very attentive and friendly. For Galantine brunch, the omlett station was my favorite. Least favorite was that the cocktails that we ordered at the bar before the cocktail-making demo was not included with the prepurchased tickets. Second floor of the restaurant has a lot of taxidermy (not my thing, but may be a lot of other people's), and game tables, like pool. Will be back!
