Would have been a 5 because the $10 burger week burger was great but it did take FOREVER to get our food. they closed down more than half an hour early and they refused to honor the Twism app offer of buy one get one free beer for Pliny the elder even though I saw it done earlier in the day. Apparently it was a "mistake" but the guy who had his beer deal honored was a white guy while I'm Hispanic so not sure if that had anything to do with it . So because of that asked to taste some of the other IPA's as I'm unfamiliar with them and waitress snapped back "we don't do flights". The burger deal is only valid until March 20 so come in and order that a few hours before they close and a few hours before you're hungry as it will take a while to get your meal. read more

The other morning, I was really vacillating between the chicken and waffles and the Cornbread Benedict, and our SUPREME waiter recommended that I get the Benedict and ADD fried chicken!!! DREAM COMBO! This recommendation blew my mind and it was one of the most delicious breakfasts I've had in quite some time. Their $15 unlimited mimosa deal is unbeatable, although I haven't taken full advantage of that yet. Coffee is delicious and strong. Service is awesome. COVID-19 Review. Yellow Belly provided our last meal out on our two week road trip and it was a great way to end our trip. We came to meet some friends of ours that moved to Santa Barbara and they suggested eating here as they love coming. It was lunch and we were getting pretty hungry so arriving to Yellow Belly we were happy to be seated. At the time, we were allowed to sit outdoors on their patio which is small but worked perfectly. The inside of the restaurant looked really cozy which I would have liked if times were different. Maybe next time. I had the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich which wasn't the best one I've ever had, but pretty close. I really like this sandwich the few times I've had it. It just needs a bit more seasoning in the batter. I got it with a salad which was divine. The wife and kids enjoyed the food they got as well. The kiddos split a pizza. I don't remember what the wife got. Service was excellent. They were really great about our 3 kids even though they behaved fine, but were nice enough to give them their own table so that we could talk with our friends. No bueno Brussels Sprouts caramelized with bacon + an egg ~ They were not caramelized but more watery. The taste was bland even with the bacon added. I've had better! Mac n Cheese ~ Yes! Order this. Creamy and cheesey. Parmesan Fries ~ They were decent. Cheese was stuck together and kinda cold but the flavor wasn't bad. My favorite meal is the Black and Bleu burger! I'm not a fan of bleu cheese but the taste is very mild and this burger was cooked perfectly! Great flavors mixed well together. The roasted pepper pizza is also yummy! Overall I would come back, but again for an entrée. Luckily they take Axxess card and you get two for one appetizers or beer! I would have given 4 stars if the service and appetizers were better. I felt like I was hanging out on the deck of a friends house, eating home made goodness and drinking craft beers. It's that simple. Coll, mid-week night and we passed through the main room/bar/lounge of this little house. The vibe was totally laid back with some tables, the bar and a sofa lounge area, all filled with people eating, drinking and chatting it up. Once great thing about Santa Barbara is it's size. I love running into people I know and here, I ran into 3. All of whom were excited to hear this was my first time and told me it would not be my last. We sat on the back deck with a hand full of high tops. You're crammed in between the nextdoor neighbor, the kitchen wall and a small, backyard parking lot but you don't notice. It's cute, fun and filled with good music and happy people. Lights strung about provide ample, mood lighting and the heaters will keep you warm. Our server came out to talk up the menu, of which he was knowledgeable but he really shined with the craft beer conversation. We made our selection at his recommendation and waited for it all to arrive. Black & Blue with garlic parm fries were killer. A hint of sweet, sticky love as they melt in your mouth. Lamb ball sammy with salad. Moist and juicy. Easier eaten with a fork and knife to shovel this deliciousness in. Brussels sprouts were ok, small and wimpy. I was expecting more here and will pass on the next go round. The gang is all young and hip, 30s and beyond, total awesomeness and all welcome. I love this crowd. read more

Yellow Belly just opened and I figured beer, wings, burger...I'm in. I sort of expected a hipster paradise and surprisingly Yellow Belly is not quite that, it's a little more dynamic than just that. Keep in mind I heard just about every song on the hipster's playlist while I was here. The service at Yellow Belly was top notch, which is expected since it is new but I can tell that's something one can expect going forward. Beer selection is solid, prices are fair. Even more fair is the happy hour price, so there's quality and value in alcohol here. I had Port Brewery Mongo DIPA...it is a great beer. I decided to get wings as well because...well wings. Wings were good, not too hot, not too weak. My only regret is that I couldn't fully enjoy the burger because the wings dulled my taste buds ever so slightly. The Black and Bleu burger was solid, a wonderful play of flavors with quality ingredients. The cajun seasoning ends up being a highlight to the experience because it is what you feel immediately. It's unfortunate that the cajun seasoning takes away from the rest of the meat however this trade-off isn't the worst setback to have. Once you become acclimated to the cajun flavors, you can begin to taste notes of the aioli, the onions and of course the bleu cheese. The bun does little to interfere with the experience and thus it serves its true sandwich purpose. The Black and Bleu Burger is a wonderful burger, one of the best in Santa Barbara. Yellow Belly feels like a gastropub without the open space. It is an intimate dive-bar that happens to have places to lay down some food. And that food...is really good. read more

My husband and I ate here last night. He got a Cesar salad and I got the kale and quinoa salad. The Caesar came in what I would call an unassembled fashion. The heads of Romaine weren't chopped, the chicken wasn't cut and the dressing was on the side. So my husband had to cut everything up himself and essentially make the salad at the table Odd.. my salad was alright but not enough dressing was provided especially for kale which is super tough if not massaged or dressed ahead of time. French fries were great. Beer was cold and tasty. Service was good and prompt. Ambiance was nice and mellow. We're visiting from out of town but don't think I'd recommend or go back since the food wasn't particularly memorable. read more

Yellow Belly's brunch menu prices are by far some of the most affordable in the county. I'd put them in a different sphere than Cajun Kitchen Cafe, I think, because they do trendy at a really low price (especially if you use your Axxess card). Before driving back home for the holidays, my significant other and I came here to grab brunch. Saturday at 11 a.m. is high tide in this neighborhood, but we snagged a parking spot in their back lot. They weren't at capacity, so we chose a table on the front patio, watching sleepy stragglers stroll into the breakfast and coffee options on this strip of De La Vina for a hangover fix. Our waitress took our orders and brought out drinks swiftly. Love the fact that they keep the menus on the table. There's never a shortage of menus or awkward waiting around for someone to pick up enough menus and a notepad and bring you to your table. In next to no time, our dishes were out. He got the breakfast sandwich with roasted potatoes, which was gooey, eggy fun once the yolk broke and ran all over the toast. The arugula was fresh, a big plus. Unfortunately, the cook had committed the sin of forgetting to season the potatoes. We had to hit it with a good shake of salt and pepper, and it would have really benefited from being tossed with some herbs or garlic to brighten the flavor. I got the cornbread benedict with bacon and fruit cup. Having heard so many things about how amazing this dish is, I can certify that it is indeed, pretty awesome. Red pepper flakes made for a good kick when mixed the hollandaise, and despite my apprehension about the softness of cornbread making a messy base, the flavor pay-off was worth it. I especially enjoyed the thick-cut, practically candied and roasted bacon. A big draw of Yellow Belly's brunch is that the affordable plates and limited menu give way to their expansive drink menu, including non-alcoholic ones for people like us, who were about to hit the road, and fun booze, like beer floats and cheap bottomless mimosas. This place is probably more fun late at night, so I'll have to update this review if I ever come out here for drinks. read more

I took my kids here the night before thanksgiving 2019 as we were staying in town but family didn't have any pre thanksgiving meal so we had to eat out. I did a bunch of Yelp research and decided on this spot ... their fries looked good, so did some of their vegetarian options, beer options looked promising . and they had burgers for my daughter . When we arrived after finding an easy parking spot out in front, they said to sit anywhere so my son and I sat at a table and my daughter sat at the couch up front. I ended up ordering tomato soup and brocolini and my son ordered fries. Shortly after ordering I noticed that the grilled cheese comes with a tiny tomato soup for dipping and salad so I changed my order to that instead of tomato soup and they said no prob and I was like "hell yeah". That grilled cheese was f'in bomb and on point. I'm super glad I did that because who tf knows if the thanksgiving meal my family was concocting was gonna be any good so in my mind I'm thinking eat up man, lol! My son tore up his fries (I had a couple and they were perfect , not too soft or greasy , small cut and light. ) Broccolini was decent , soaked in too much vinegar perhaps but flavor good enough to eat and not over cooked ... I ordered a Pilsner and it was light and tasty. I finally ordered a burger for my daughter and she ate 2/3 of it(burgers are huge 7 oz) but she said it was tasty. Even though it was night before thanksgiving and we arrived 45 mins before closing the staff was friendly and did not rush us out. I want to give them a shot out for being super chill and making us feel welcomed and serving up some good grub and drinks . This USED to be one of my favorite restaurants in Santa Barbara when I lived there a little over a year ago. I am not sure if they have new owners but now the food is now thing but subpar. My favorite dish was the eggs Benedict with their famous pulled pork. I went a couple months ago to learn that they no longer carried the pulled pork. I was a little upset so I order the chicken and waffles thinking it was still going to be good because I've had such good experiences whenever I would go. When I received my "chicken and waffles", it was simply a waffle with two dry chicken strips. When we used to go my boyfriend would get the chicken and waffles it was a real piece of fried chicken. I am so sad that their menu has changed because it used to be a little gem in Goleta. I recommend Boathouse breakfast because it's always up to par with the consistency of their food. read more

This is one of my favorite places for brunch. The $14 Bottomless Mimosas are strong and fantastic. Can't pass them up. Now onto the yummy menu... The Cornbread Eggs Benedict with bacon- This is my go to. It comes with sliced tomato and avocado. The hollandaise sauce is quite possibly the best I've found in town, incredibly rich and flavorful. The cornbread is usually moist and the bacon is perfection. I prefer to sub a side salad for the potatoes since I have only experienced them being over roasted and stale. FYI, the side salad comes with shredded carrots, croutons, sunflower seeds and tomatoes. Chicken and Waffle- Twice, the chicken was dry, but no complaints for the waffle. Bananas Foster Waffle- Super rich. Good, if that's what you're in the mood for, but after one bite of my friend's, my sweet tooth was maxed out. Breakfast Sandwich- Haven't tried it, but several friends said it's wonderful. Breakfast Skillet- Same as above. Both the front and back patio are ideal. The vibe here is very casual and relaxed. On its own, I would give this place four stars, but the fifth star goes to our favorite server, Brandon. Friendly, funny and attentive, he goes above and beyond in every way and keep us coming back.
