Yesterday, Tuesday, July 12th, I called for a Yellow Cab, from Randall's Supermarket, in Galveston. I was told by a 'Robot Voice' that a cab was enroute. I waited and waited.. After the first yellow cab drove right past, I called again, to see how long it would be. The robot voice supposedly tried to connect me with a human operator. The phone just rang and rang. A second yellow cab drove right past.. I called back. The phone just rang and rang. A third Cab drove right past. I screamed 'STOP! GOD DAMN IT!' It just kept going. I called back again. And again.. And again. 13 times, total. For an hour and a half. A cab NEVER SHOWED UP! I've never hated a company so bad in my life! read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH BOOKING!!! I scheduled a car for a 4 AM pick up to the airport. I received a confirmation email. I also received a confirmation text from the driver saying he was three minutes away. I then received a call from the driver saying this car overheated and he would not be coming. I called dispatch, she said it will be a while for another car. It truly was. Long story short -- I BARELY made my flight. With the time I booked the vehicle, I had calculated arriving at the airport two hours early. Instead I run up during final boarding. I'm happy that Uber and Lyft are legal in Texas now. read more

I'm told the only taxi that will pick up and deliver all the way to the Cruise ship. Be warned, they start with a $6 fee added for going all the way inside the terminal. Took for ever for the taxi to show up, but guessing because the only company going to the ship? Driver was polite and did take us to where we needed to go, but did not identify the added cost. We knew the port was charging them extra so looked for how the cost would be passed to us. read more

PISS POOR... My friend called for a cab after an opthomolgist appointment. While HIS eyes WERE dialated, MINE WEREN'T dilated ENOUGH to NOT see that the driver of this cab was a GROUCH! He rolled up in his "atomic lemon" "mean mugging" from JUMP! The ride was a short one, only $6, but necessary since it was a VERY SUNNY DAY and eyes are dilated. Worst people to deal with. Called Juan to get a guest at our hotel a ride. Was told it will be two hours. Called back thirty minutes later and was told that they don't have available drivers. I asked how long it might be. He said if guest does not mid waiting about 1-1.5 hours. Two hours later no one has shown up. Called to get an ETA. Said he refuses to give that information. Then said the drivers are all sitting in a line at the port waiting for other passengers, but no one is scheduled. So, I asked him to please call one and let them know guest is here money in hand ready. He then states that not how they operate, and no one can be scheduled. So, he lied to me the first time when he said that it was scheduled. He said the drivers do not have to do anything they for them and that they cannot do anything at all to help me. I requested his supervisors name and was told he does not know the name. Highly doubtful so I asked for a contact information, and he said I just refuse to tell you anything further. He said that no one signs their paychecks and that the company has many supervisors and that he cannot give any information on any of them. I asked how I contact them, and he said they don't work there. He said he tried to help me but honestly all he kept doing is telling me there is nothing he can do and that it would be approximately 1-2 hours before they will show up. Even after calling 1.5 hours later. How is that it was 1-2 hours when I called and scheduled 1.5 hours ago and now it another 1.5 - 2 hours after you already scheduled someone. But you also state you can't schedule anyone anyway? How is it possible you don't know the person you report to and that they don't work there? The operation makes no sense from a business operators' standpoint. This dude is not serving his company or Customers well at all and he ended up hanging up on me. read more

Wish I could give one star. Called at 10am for a pick up at 11. Told them we had 4 adults with luggage going to port of Galveston. Said ok they will meet you at front of hotel. At 11:10 I called asking about our cab. Was told they were looking for one and that they would call me on 15 minutes. After 20 minutes I called back and they still hadn't found a cab to send us. Again said they would call us soon. I ended up downloading Uber for a car within 10 minutes and am currently waiting to board the ship and still haven't heard from yellow taxi I would strong urge you to pick any other cab company or Uber before using this company. Galveston does not have Uber or Lyft, so Yellow Cab was the obvious choice. My first driver was fantastic. He was a native of Galveston and even gave me some BBQ recommendations. His vehicle was extremely clean too. He totally deserved five stars! My second driver was utterly ridiculous and deserved only one star. His vehicle was filthy and I hate sitting in crumbs. Just thinking about it makes me want to take another shower. He questioned whether or not I had actually called for a ride. After confirming that I did, he then pointed to the telephone number outside of the vehicle. Once again, I reassured him that I called the dispatch number. I was instructed (shouted) to get in. A part of me wanted to wait for another cab, but I had only two hours of sleep from my red-eye flight and desperately needed to get rest at my hotel. For the first two minutes of the ride, he ranted about the terrible day he was having. At first, I thought it was some sort of joke. He became more and more enraged and my children were present. Needless to say, I put him in check real quick. The remainder of the ride was harmonious. In the future, I will use any cab company but Yellow Cab. read more

I called for a cab to take me 4.4miles back to my hotel. The dispatcher told me there was one a couple of miles away and not to go far. I told him I had my 4lb dog (he rides on my shoulders) and he said "no problem" 30 minutes later a cab finally arrives. I got in the cab and as he was pulling out of the parking lot he tells me "it's a $5 charge for the dog". I seriously thought he was joking. My dog travels all across the US with me and has been in hundreds of Taxi's and never been charged so I let it go. When we got to the hotel the bill was $15 to take the 4.4 mile trip. He was serious about charging me $5 for him, yet a extra passenger is only $1. I'll never use them. I'll stick with Jeff Cab, they've always treated me right. As much as I come to town and use cab's I can't believe he'd stick it to me like that. Very very disappointed. read more

I was intentionally double charged on my debit card. Cab driver was named Malik. Be careful. The driver insisted I sign two receipts, one with a tip and one with the total amount. I refused knowing something was up, but he told me that's just the way they do things, then showed me several other receipts signed just like he was making me sign; I scribbled on it to avoid argument and went on with my day. Two days later, sure enough, I was charged both the amount without a tip, and the total amount, in two separate charges. I called the cab company, and they said they'd refund me. I booked a taxi with the Hail-A-Cab app and used the new credit card feature. Fifteen minutes before my pickup time, I got a notification that the driver was approaching. I figured that since the driver was early, he would wait for me. I then immediately got an email thanking me for using Yellow Cab and my booking showed as complete in the app and that I had been picked up. I wasn't sure what was going on and waited ten minutes past my pickup time, then called the dispatcher. They were very nice and said they would send another driver, who arrived quickly. I explained my situation to him and he said some drivers would reject reservations from the app because they didn't want to deal with the system. They said please give 15-20 more minutes. At 6:10 we called again. "10 minutes and we will definitely be there!!!" 6:25: "there are 40 people ahead of you and only two cabs. If I could give a zero I would. Took a cab from the cruise port one mile to a hotel. The driver was PO'd to begin with. She made us load our bags, turned the radio up on high and rolled down the windows when it was about 90 degrees outside. She never turned on the meter and would not let us use the credit card. A one mile/5 minute ride cost $20. Tried to call the local company to register a complaint and the call would not go through. Galveston- this leaves a bad taste in my mouth for your city!!! As an update, I contacted the company and recently received a refund. I appreciate how the manager handled my complaint. Hopefully, the next time we have a better experience. read more

At 1015 I called to ask where they were. I was told they would get there when they get there and they should be there in 15 minutes. Lady on the phone was rude and acted like it was no big deal they weren't on time. At 11am still no yellow cab! Luckily another taxi company had dropped off at our hotel and was willing to take us to the ship. Unreliable, rude, and completely unprofessional. To be fair, I have had a couple of fantastic drivers through this service, but the last driver they sent was an absolute nightmare. He couldn't figure out the GPS system in the cab so it was set to my address instead of where we were going. I had to give directions from the GPS on my phone while he was constantly screaming at the cab GPS, "SHUT UP!!" "BLOW ME!!!" Etc... as it's telling him to turn around. We called Saturday night Dec 8th to arrange a cab from hotel to Cruise port at 1pm December 9th at 12:55 pm on December 9th Yellow Cab called and told us they would not be able to make it leaving us stranded. Horrible. Just horrible. I'm taking my kids on a cruise. I called the night before to make a reservation for a cab, only to find out - when I called the next morning- that they don't take reservations. They didn't know why the guy told me they did, but they actually just wait for a driver to pick up the order. Anyway, 1hr and 22 minutes later, still no cab. Kids are screaming (I have one with autism, so that was great). We ended up taking the shuttle. Twice as much money, but no hassle. Just save yourself an enormous mess. Called at 8:40 am for a 10:00 am pickup on 9/18 and was told it would be no problem. 10:35 rolled around and still no one had arrived so I called back and was told they can't locate a driver and it would be at least another 1 1/2 hours for my pickup. I am writing this review after finding out that myself and a coworker has similar bad experiences on different dates. We both work off shore and we are required to be at our heliport early in the morning (5:30 am). We both made reservations the night before and on each incident Yellow Cab was a no show. The dispatcher on each occasion gave myself and my coworker the same excuse, that it was shift change. I don't know of any cab company that changes shifts at 5:30. On each incident we both had to call another cab company. My job is my livelihood and when someone messes with my livelihood, I have no use for them. So good luck Yellow Cab. Called a taxi at 2:50pm to catch a movie at 3:45pm (hotel was 19 min away from the theatre). Hotel front desk said they would be there in 5 to 10 min. Ended up calling Jeff's taxi after 30 minutes. Yellow showed up at the hotel at 3:45pm after we were already in a Jeff's taxi. Galveston desperately needs to bring back uber. You never have this problem with them. Very disappointing. Booked a cab on Saturday night at 5 pm for a reservation the following morning to take us to the cruise terminal for our departure. I was told they could not guarantee an exact pick up time but after reviewing our information with the booking agent they said we needed to be ready to go between 10:30am and 11:15am. I called on Sunday morning at 9:30 to confirm and was told I was on the list and please be patient. At 11:15 I called again and was told there was no guarantee of transportation and whoever told me that on Saturday night needs to be fired. I passed on 2 other cabs because I MADE A COMMITMENT. Unfortunately that commitment was not reciprocated by Yellow Cab. They never showed and by 11:30 we took other actions. I'm a visitor in town. Called a cab at 7 pm and was told a cab would arrive soon. 2.5 hours later we called and were told that they couldn't get a hold of us and someone would be there within 10 minutes. They told us if they didn't arrive to call back in 10 minutes. We called back and we're hung up on. We then called back and we're told there was nothing they could do and we were out of luck. 3 hours after waiting for a cab, we were told there was nothing they could do.
