On Sunday, March 21, 2021 We called the Yellow Cab Co. I told the dispatcher that we would need the van because we had 5 people to pick up to go to Cannery Row. I was asked for our address, cross street and was told that the cab would arrive within 10 minutes. A sedan arrived. We were told when we tried to enter the cab that he could only take 4 of us, we would have to order another cab. I called the dispatch again and asked why we didn't get the van. She told me we had to "Double Cab". That they did not have a van. I told her we had used the VAN in previous trips, but she insisted that we needed to order another cab. (Of, course for another $20 ). On our way down Cannery Row, in our own car, what do we see? Low and behold, there was the YELLOW CAB VAN. Their name, same phone number.... Bad experience!!! Our driver FROM the hotel to the restaurant charged us $6.25 (and refused a tip?). From the restaurant BACK the driver claimed there was an accident blocking our path, talked on his cell phone the whole time (ILLEGAL!!!), and charged us $11.50 (and took the tip!). When we questioned him about the new route, he directed us to look down a dark residential street - miles from our correct route - and said "See, there's the accident. Huh!!? I called the restaurant, hotel, and cab company to report this rip-off. I checked two different phone traffic apps while in the cab and there was NO ACCIDENT. Be forewarned, have your map app activated on your phone when you ride in one of these cabs, so you can avoid "the scenic route". read more

Called today for yellow cab and they arrived in 5 minutes. Car was very clean and smelled nice. Driver was friendly and professional. Couldn't have asked for better service. Debated using this service because I saw negative reviews but my experience was excellent read more

I've only used Yellow Cab a couple of times, but I'll never forget the first. We had made a reservation for a Central Coast Cab, but it never showed. We needed to get to the airport before our flight left, so we called Yellow Cab instead. I don't recall our driver's name, but I know what he looks like. He wears an old-fashioned Yellow Cab hat (like this one: http://www.johnhelmer.com/prod.itml/icOid/174) and a black leather vest, has a white beard, and tattoos on his arms. Friendly, nice, professional--he was great. If I ever need a cab again, he's my driver. UPDATE: I hear tell his name is Rickey. (And for the record, Nic sweetest, I don't moonlight as a cabbie.) read more

Threatened not to give me a ride back to my hotel because I was acting drunk.... I'm thought that was the whole reason to call a cab.... call me an idiot but in Baltimore we call cabs BECAUSE we are too drunk to drive home. NEVER call this company if you're drunk apparently. read more

I called and made a reservation for a 0415 Cab from my home in Seaside to the Monterey Airport a day in advance. When my taxi had not arrived after 10 minutes, I called the dispatcher - at which point I was told there was a 30 minute wait on all taxis, as if I had never made a reservation. Highly do not recommend. Cannot be relied upon to honor pre-scheduled pick ups. In a day of Uber and Lyft that charge half as much as a regular taxi, even paying double to ensure pickup doesn't work with these guys. Avoid at all costs. read more

Okay so first of all when you tell someone 15 mins it should be 15 mins. I was waiting a hour a freaking hour. I had reservations at a really nice restaurant in the local area and long story short I had to cancel due to my horrible taxi service, where is the uber, lyft? This town seriously lacks in options as far as rides go. So thank you yellow cab you have ruined my Valentine's Day and your not getting any more of my money no way. Or standing stranded in the freezing streets for 1 1/2 hours after a "5 minutes...you are definitely next" BS routine. Worst experience of my life. He asked where I needed to go, so I told him. He heard a similar street. He tried to take me to the wrong place and I complained. Then I talked to the dispatcher. I don't think they deserve even one star. First off, get more damn cabs! I've never been in an area where I had to wait for more than 30 minutes. It's been 45 and I am STILL waiting on a cab. It is not rush hour, so what are they doing? This isn't the first time this has happened to me and all the times I've had to put up with the taxis have been more negative than positive. Quite a few of the drivers are rude as well. I'm going to start memorizing the bus schedule from now on. Taxis are supposed to be about fast service. If I wanted to sit around and wait, I would just take the bus. It's more efficient and far cheaper. read more

Use UBER... LYFT...or Central Coast Taxi! Terrible company. Driver in #14 almost hit my disabled mothers car, then pulled up next to her and gave her the middle finger! I emailed the owner and of course no response! A bunch of scumbags driving broke down dirty yellow cabs! Will never recommended ur service to anyone again! We needed a rid to the airport. The person answering the phone was professional and friendly (not fake). Brandon in Car # 34 arrived 15 minutes late which cost Yellow Cab the fifth star. The rest of the service was excellent. He handled our suitcases with care. He was willing to talk during the drive but not too much and he got us to the airport efficiently and safe. Additionally I have to say that it is much cheaper than some other services I looked into. read more

Grabbed a Yellow Cab from the airport to home. Driver took the long way around and when I asked why he said," What are you some kind of d1ck...this is the f@cking way I go...'sides the other way would only save you 50 cents". Never again. read more

Scheduled a cab from the Marriott at 445am the night before. There was one cab outside and I checked to see if it was for me. He said he didn't have a permit for the airport but I could walk from outside the permit zone. 3-4 minutes, (not an option being a female, alone, in an unfamiliar place in the dark... and later saw no sidewalks) I went back inside the Marriott and they called Yellow Cab. They said they would send a cab. (Where is the cab I ordered?) I waited another 5 minutes and still no cab. Then I used Uber. I had thought Uber wouldn't be available that early in the morning (that's why I ordered a cab in the first place). My advice, use Uber, Yellow Cab is unreliable. read more

Yellow Cab is the only business I have ever worked with that I would give 0 stars to. I work at a hotel in town and made the mistake once of calling them for a guest. The cab was to arrive at 8pm and go into Monterey. 8:15 came around and no cab, so I called. They said they had sent someone earlier that day and no one was waiting for a cab. I spoke to that driver and told him the pick up time was for 8:15, not 6. In which he said he would call the dispatch. Long story short, they said they would call another cab and send them out in the next 5 minutes. 15 minutes later, after calling MARINA CAB who saved the day, I call back and ask for a manager. I explain to him the situation, and that our hotel uses them often, in which I am told "you and your guests are a waste of our time. We operate in Monterey, not Marina, and when I send someone out, you better have your guests waiting." click. Such manager like behavior... I vowed to never use them again after both my guests and myself being disrespected. Well, I was forced to. On NYE, my boyfriend and I stayed in Carmel and wanted to catch a cab to go to dinner. We reluctantly called yellow cab, where the dispatcher asked me the same question about 3 times. Finally, the conversation was over and they sent a cab to arrive in 20 minutes. I called 5 minutes later to cancel the cab (my boyfriend had some clothing problems and needed to grab another shirt) in which the operator told me there was no record of me calling to schedule a pick up at my location under my name. I asked if any pick ups were scheduled to my resort in which they said no. I gave up. An hour passed, clothing issue was resolved, and we called them one last time for a pick up. We were told they would call when they arrived. We were given a wait time of 30 minutes. About 15 later they called literally yelling at my boyfriend to get down stairs as they had "other parties to pick up." Click. (they love hanging up on the people that keep them in business!) He said we were on our way (very desperate at this point) and headed downstairs. He wasn't there! We call back and he says he picked up someone else. We call back again, he hangs up on us. We call Yellow Cab, they do not answer. The hotel set us up a cab through CENTRAL COAST CAB who got us to the restaurant right before the last seating. Main Point: Yellow Cab is a terribly ran, inefficient, unreliable, unprofessional business. You should NEVER treat guests with such disrespect, and should really watch the ways you talk to concierges in the area. read more

My review is -0!!! On my call to the dispatcher, I asked if I could prepay with a card, she replied that I could do so when getting picked up, the driver asked to see my card, then tucked it under his leg and said he would give it back after the ride was through. I asked for my card back, I told him I was uncomfortable with that and he started driving away, still holding on to my card, with a raised voice saying he would not give me back my debit card until after the ride. I felt angry, but uncomfortable at the same time. He kept turning on his blinker on HWY 68, speeding and then slowing down and breaking. He got me home in one piece, and I still left a tip because I know people have to live, but that was a very negative, scary, and uncomfortable ride. His name was Santos. read more
