    Veggie Burger
    Nadchen A.

I haven't been here in a couple years, I think the last time I've been was like 6 years ago. It's been a long while and I loved it back then. I also know from friends that it hasn't changed and it's been just as good. I don't come through this area often, but my friends wanted to meet up and have dinner here. Also the ambiance is so cozy and home-y! It felt like something out of Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, some kind of fantasy tale. They were quick to seat us, because we were a group of 5 we had the bigger booth upstairs in the back corner. Though we were seated quickly and our group trickled in after a few minutes, it took a long time for us to put our orders in. I feel like part of it is the booth placement in the corner. We spent a couple minutes trying to look at a server for eye contact haha. I ordered the Veggie Burger, which I loved as a college student years ago, and a cup of the Butternut Squash Soup. Everything was absolutely delicious. The Veggie Burger was so tasty, it came with a side of chips and a pickle slice. The burger was hearty, flavorful, and had veggies like sprouts and avocado that tasted very fresh. For me, it was a hit back then and it still is a hit now. And I wasn't planning on getting the soup, but I saw on the menu that if it was the soup of the day then the Salmon Chowder would be priced differently. And Salmon Chowder is probably my favorite soup of all time. However when we asked, the soup was Butternut Squash which was a good one too. We got a round of 4 Butternut Squash soups for the table lol. I just got the cup and I loved it. And the bread too! I wish I had another slice because I finished that in a couple bites. Anyways the soup was so delightful, it was so cozy and great. I loved the added nuts sprinkled on top, it gave a nice texture with the soup. I feel like with Butternut Squash, people have their preferences about savory and sweet soups and sometimes Butternut Squash tends to be more sweet. But I feel like Yellow Deli nailed the balance between the two. Also I had a bite of my friend's waffle ... and I have to say that was definitely a Top 5 Waffle I've ever had in my life. It was just one bite but it was extraordinary. I'm not trying to exaggerate, it was just that good. They have great quality food here and nice service. I had to dock off a star because we were waiting for a good 25-30 minutes just to order when we were ready. Other than that, we had a wonderful time.

The rumors are true..... .... This place IS that good. The pesto sandwich was fire. The bread is soft and delicious. Service is on their time but who cares. The ambience is adorably distracting. With a gift and everything!

The service was terrible today. I sat there 20 minutes before my order was taken. 40 minutes before the next shift noticed no one had brought me a drink. I was there over an hour for a lunch cup of soup and salad. I ordered a bowl of soup and was charged a bowl...but served a cup. Soup was great, hibiscus cooler was great.

Got to come here for the first time as our friends introduced this restaurant in town! I just love the vibe of this place! So many wooden design and made me feel like I was in the tree house! There are some vegetarian options and vegan/vegetarian friendly restaurants! We got some veggie burgers, spinach sandwiches and waffles! They were all appetizing and delicious We definitely had a great time! One of the staffs showed me around and toured me around! Very nice service! Keep up the good work! Cheers

What an amazing and unique place! The moment I stepped inside, I felt a warm hug from all the beautiful wooden structures and decor. My first thought was feeling like I was inside a hobbit's house with all the glorious earthen features, but by no means was this place small. It was like a wonderful adventure walking through all the various rooms and levels. A lovely spiral staircase takes you to a second story where you'll find more table seating, a cozy cafe couch, and one of my personal favorite rooms which was the sunroom (also where the restroom is located). Pictures don't depict the true scale of this place and its ambiance. The beautiful building is just the beginning. The atmosphere is relaxed, the staff is very friendly, and the food is delicious and fair priced. There's a dog friendly outdoor patio that's lush with greenery, too. One thing to note is parking; there's only 5 complimentary parking spots for the entire building located at the back. A handful of parking spaces are at the front of the building and are metered parking. For our lunchtime visit, we ordered a Deli Pesto Sandwich with coleslaw side ($10) and a Reuben with chips ($10). Since we were eating on the patio with our dog (no table service on the patio), we were advised to place our order as "to go" at the front register. We did, and it was out in a jiffy, and everything was scrumptious. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients. Another great part? The Yellow Deli is open 24 hours, 5 days of the week! Convenient, relaxing, and good food WITH healthy options - it can't be beat! The Yellow Deli is an absolute MUST visit.

What an absolutely adorable place. Reminding me of Harry Potter or some kind of Disney restaurant. Extremely charming. I ordered the deli Rose sandwich and it was very very good. I love that they steam the sandwiches instead of grilling them or serving them cold. It makes them very tasty. Their homemade chips were actually like potato chips instead of those thick greasy things you get at some restaurants that call them homemade chips. I also brought home a mini loaf of the sweet potato pound cake for my daughter. It was amazing! Will definitely be back.

I can't honestly say I'd recommend this place. They got a very simple order wrong and they forgot half my order as well. It's not your typical deli so to speak. It's more of a hipster deli if you get my drift. I honestly won't be back. Especially because it's next door to a college which should make things even more clear as to why it's hippie oriented. The corned beef seemed like it was from a pack ( frozen or store bought) it was definitely not fresh cut? Can tell by the consistency and the way it was on the sandwich. Won't be back, but if you're into the hippie scene? Try it

Great food, service, and unique ambiance. This place was packed on Sunday during lunchtime - luckily, there are multiple levels and ample seating, so my husband and I were seated immediately. It's a quirky place with a lot of natural light coming through the windows and lots of nooks and crannies with seating. Everyone serving was very friendly - our waiter took the time to explain the menu to us and make recommendations. I got the Old Saint Joe to start (good, but too sweet and potentially too caffeinated as it had me feeling very strange after drinking half of it), we shared the broccoli cheddar soup which came with a slice of homemade sourdough bread (so good), and I got the Buffalo Chicken sandwich while my husband got the Reuben. The bread on my sandwich was unreal - sooo soft and delicious and the sandwich was saucy and delicious. We were both really happy with our meals!

I havent had a good solid sandwich (not counting burger/hot chicken) in a while. Been meaning to try this place out but everytime Im passing Chattanooga, this place has been closed (Saturdays). But, alas, I finally tried the salmon sammich with chips and root beer on tap and wow, I am coming back. Food was tasty, fresh and satisfying. Glad the cashier recommended this specific sandwich. The cafe itself is not like any other cafe/restaurant Ive seen. Definitely feels like its out of a storybook.

It's a cult ran restaurant, the reason the service is slow is because they do not pay their employees.

Ask the Community - Yellow Deli

    Are the rumors true?

Yes, they are a cult. The 12 Tribes.

Is the business still open 24/5 right now during Covid?

No, they're open 6am-10pm right now. But as of today the mayor has lifted all business restrictions, so they may go back to 24/5 now.

    Is this place dog friendly?

I am not sure if Yellow Deli is dog friendly inside but they do have outside seating. That would be something to call in advance and find out.

I did Edward's Point and Signal Mountain on a super hot morning hike and decided I had earned a huge sandwich and some pimento cheese so, I snuck in about 25 minutes before closing to get a sandwich to go. Staff were SO nice and welcoming. Telling me there was no rush, I could sit and eat, etc. I spoke to the charming Chris, who went over the entire menu with me and offered for me to sample a few of their pasta salads and pimento and made suggestions. He was the biggest sweetheart. In the end, they didn't have the daily special chopped Italian I'd seen so, I went with a turkey and cheese with pimento to go and some sweet tea. At checkout, another friendly and lovable female staffer was totally charming. My sandwich was HUGE and the pimento cheese was some of the best I've ever had! And, your girl is from the South so, I've had a metric ton of pimento in my life. I really like the location and the vibes inside. Local's gem. And the staff, A+++++

Naming your sandwich shop Tasty Heaven Sandwich Shop "Heaven" is a bold strategy. That's not…read morebranding... that's a performance guarantee. I needed something quick, light, and close to our company office in Chattanooga. The ratings were strong, the reviews looked promising, and frankly when you call yourself Heaven, expectations go up fast. I'm not asking for miracles... but a great sandwich would be a nice start. First clue something was... developing... was the sign. Still a banner out front. Which usually means one of two things: 1. Brand new and figuring things out. 2. Someone lost a bet with a printing company. Inside felt like a sandwich shop that's been around for decades. Worn floors, chalkboards tossed up on the wall like they lost a game of darts, and the menu scribbled across them in chalk. Not charming-chaotic. More like... chaotic-chaotic. No problem. I'm here for the sandwich. I ordered the #1, because when a place names a sandwich after itself, that's usually the mic drop item. The "Heaven Classic." If you're going to plant your flag, plant it on the best hill. It came out fast. Very fast. Suspiciously fast. I brought it back to the office, opened it up, took a bite... and immediately felt like I'd been transported to the deli aisle of a gas station. "If this sandwich were any more average, it would come with an Oscar Mayer jingle." The bread was actually pretty good. Nice texture, solid foundation. But the filling? It felt like someone stopped at a convenience store, grabbed a pack of cold cuts, and said, "Yep... this'll do." Now here's where the plot twist comes in. Afterward I started digging through the reviews because the disconnect was wild. People were raving about this place. Five stars everywhere. I'm thinking, "Did I walk into the wrong universe?" Turns out... most of those reviews are for Steamboat. Looks like the place changed names sometime late last year. Same location, new name, very different experience. So the glowing reputation may belong to a former tenant. Which leads to my final thought... If this is Heaven, I'd hate to see the alternative. I'm landing at three stars, mostly because I'm feeling generous today and the bread deserved better than the situation it was put in. Would I go back? Probably not. Chattanooga has way too many great sandwich spots to gamble on purgatory again.

Good basic sandwich. Bread always fresh, and I think made on site. Usually brisk business but quick…read moreservice nonetheless.
