A nice spot right outside Maxwell AFB main gate. I was greeted with a smile and a menu. Coffee was hot but a bit weak to my liking. I wanted to try the biscuits & gravy but not a platter of biscuits. I asked if I can order a typical breakfast platter with eggs, bacon, and grits with a biscuit and saucer of gravy on the side just to try - I did not mind if it was an additional charge. No extra charge by the way! The food was good: biscuit was buttery and gravy was the right consistency with a hint of small bite sausages. Eggs was over easy just the way I like it. The grits, however, was a downer as it was way too salty; could have beeb too much salted butter. The server was very friendly and attentive. I guess that's expected in the south with the famous southern hospitality. The dining area was bright, clean, and inviting. Not sure about the sprinkle of bad reviews on yelp.

Sides were ok
I Am The K.

The fried chicken and pork chops were fried and seasoned to perfection. The sides were not good. Rice was hard and uncooked. Okra was ok. Next time we go we'll just order chicken to go.

This place is a cute family owned restaurant and the workers are all really nice. Which is why I'm giving them 3 stars... To be honest the food was not impressive. We ordered the "something else" sandwich with onion rings, the "kitchen sink" salad, sweet potato fries, side of baked veggies, and coffee. First of all, we never received the baked veggies or the coffee. The "something else" sandwich was mediocre and basic. The salad was also not impressive and lacked flavor... the onion rings and sweet potato fries were the highlight of the meal. All and all, we were starving so the food was acceptable and the girls working were hilarious and great people. The food was basic at best.

Fried Pickles! Yum

Delicious food in a friendly and welcoming environment. Everything was well seasoned and had that home cooked, down home flavor it is too hard to find these days. Everything was clean and well kept as well. Highly recommend!

Third (or fourth) new owners in the last few years. Finally got it right. Eat here!

Third owners in the last few years. Once again open for breakfast and lunch M-F only! They finally got it right. New decor (country theme) new servers, new kitchen. Happy to see a great b'fast place right outside the Maxwell gate. Great breakfast! Good portions, great taste. My new favorite for a weekday. Try it, you will be happy!

What--if anything--on the menu is gluten-free? Is food preparation non cross-contaminated and safe for Celiacs? Like, I see there's a turkey burger on the menu. Are breadcrumbs used in the meat?

No I’m sorry we’re not gluten-free and the Turkey burger are not made with breadcrumbs

The lady at the counter was so inviting and was amazing at making additional suggestions for us. The food came out timely and was beyond tasty. When paying I asked "who gets the tip?" (I don't ever leave a tip at eateries like this simply for the person taking my order lol) and this is when I learned that she was the manager of the location. I proceeded to with my tip even though she could receive it knowing it would be split amongst her amazing staff. The facility was clean, bathrooms were tidy and the atmosphere was quiet and quaint. I tried the Newk's Q pizza and my SO got my usual for the 1st time the Newk's Q sandwich. They both tasted delicious. Thank you Charlene for your exceptional service, bubbly personality, knowledge of menu items, and for the convo and laughs.

Unfortunately, I've consistently noticed an issue with how pickup orders are handled. The pizza is always placed on an unheated pickup shelf, and by the time I arrive, it's already cold. Today, I ordered both the pizza and a Caesar salad. The salad was sitting on the top shelf, which is not temperature controlled, and it was noticeably warm when I picked it up. The pizza, on the lower shelf, was cold as usual. After experiencing this multiple times, I decided to leave a review. Shortly after posting, I received a text message--presumably from the owner--that came across as dismissive and rude. I want to be clear that I'm not looking for anything free. My concern is simply about food safety and quality. A pickup station without temperature control raises valid concerns, especially when items like salads contain dairy products that shouldn't sit at room temperature. As a regular customer who orders takeout often and dines in about once a month, this experience was disappointing. Rather than addressing the concern, the response I received felt accusatory, as if my review was written with ulterior motives. Because of this, I've decided to take my business elsewhere.

It was not the case. For $9, I expected that Vietnamese Iced coffee to be spectacular, instead it had me questioning if it was pre-made. The $17 vermicelli bowl, which I usually love in the summer because it is fresh and cool and light, came to my table with hot noodles, and consequently, cooked cucumbers. The pork was spongy in a way that I haven't experienced before. The spring rolls were the least offensive thing we ordered, but they were void of any flavor. Where are the fresh herbs?? I normally wouldn't even write a review for a small business like this, but this isn't good Vietnamese food and I hope to warn the next person driving south through Montgomery looking for a quick, light, flavorful, fresh meal. Find something else. Wait until you pass though New Orleans and try ordering Vietnamese again there. p.s. The name has changed to Pho Life, maybe the pho is good, but, the bun is not. And charging $9 for an iced coffee is too much.

I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and a plate of char-grilled hot wings. The sandwich was the highlight for me. The chicken was juicy and well-seasoned, with a nice char on the outside that gave it great flavor without being dry. The bun was fresh and held everything together without falling apart halfway through (which I always appreciate). It felt like a well-balanced, thoughtfully made sandwich rather than something rushed. The char-grilled hot wings were flavorful with a smoky finish from the grill. They had a good kick -- not overwhelmingly spicy, but enough heat to keep things interesting. A couple of them were slightly on the smaller side, but the taste definitely made up for it. The atmosphere was relaxed and lively without being too loud. Service was friendly and attentive, though we did wait a bit longer than expected for our food during a busy stretch. Nothing dramatic, just noticeable. Overall, it's a place I'd happily return to -- good food, good vibe, and consistent quality. A strong 4 stars from me.
