IF YOU ARE A PATIENT AT YELLOWSTONE DENTISTRY I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU SEEK CARE SOMEWHERE ELSE AND IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING BECOMING A NEW PAITENT WITH THIS DENTAL OFFICE, DON'T! I have had 6 month cleanings and checks up regularly with another office and had NEVER had any sort of dental problems, no pain, and no cavities. At my first dental visit in December 2024 they told me that I had a cavity. I was in complete shock but went ahead and had them fill it. It was tooth #18. This will be important later. I returned for a 6 month cleaning in June and then my most recent appointment December 29, 2025. At this appointment Dr. Lim looked at my x-rays and told me I had 3 cavities. He never once sat down and looked in my mouth or pointed out which teeth had cavities. I left in disbelief but later called to schedule the appointment to have the cavities filled and requested an oral sedative to take prior to my visit. It's simply an anxiety medication. I also had to pay my co-pay prior to my visit. Upon arrival to this appointment, I started questioning which teeth needed fillings and explaining to the gal who brought me to the chair that none of this was explained to me at my prior visit. She pointed out that #30, #14, and #18 needed fillings. Weird that #18 needed a filling, right? After about 10 minutes the gal and the dentist would no longer answer my questions, due to the fact that I "was on a sedative" and would not speak to my husband either. Let's face it, people take anxiety medications regularly all the time and can function and understand just fine. At this point the dentist decided that my appointment should be rescheduled and made it seem as if I was the one who was confused. Not in the slightest but thankful that this decision was made. I returned home and called another dental office to get a second opinion. I purposely did not tell this dentist what I was previously told, so that I could get a fair opinion. This dentist looked at my x-rays provided by Yellowstone and also looked in my mouth and poked every tooth. He confirmed that I had no cavities and that I had great oral hygiene. I called Yellowstone after leaving my second opinion appointment and requested a refund of my co-payment. I was told that they would call me back but of course they didn't. I've several more times but no one answers the phone. Still wondering if the "cavity" I had on my first visit in 2024 with Yellowstone was actually a cavity. read more

My first and only appointment here for my son. This office up sales everything. The doctor did not listen to any concerns and during the appointment was non stop talking with his assistant. My son left with an estimate close $10,000. We received a second opinion and he only needed about $2500 worth. And we were told most things listed he were not needed. You just cannot imagine how awful this Dr. Lim truly can be. Don't go unless you want pain, shoddy work and nonstop talking. A replacement filling should not be torture. He is a quack. Stay away. I had to get another dentist to fix the mess he made of my filling. read more

I don't write reviews often but I felt like I should share my experience here. Similar to other reviewers I went here for my check up and cleaning which I have done every 6 months back home with my other dentist, the dr then told me that I had three cavities that needed filling and on my way out they booked me an appointment to get those done. Now this is weird because I have never had a cavity, I brush twice a day and floss often and I was suspicious in how I could suddenly have three cavities pop up out of no where. I got a second opinion and I don't have any cavities or need any fillings. They also were trying to sell me on an expensive retainer that I also don't need. If I could leave them negative stars I would, but unfortunately that isn't an option. Our family went here as our previous dentist retired, they wanted to put my son (8 years old) under completely to do his cleaning, X-rays, a few fillings and 4 crowns. My son has never had a cavity and never had a problem with his cleanings or X-rays. When they brought me back to him after his x rays he was crying, the X-rays weren't even clear. They wanted to do 5 filings on me (I've had one in my entire life) and 3 on my husband. I took my son to get a second opinion and he had one cavity that needed to be filled. They billed our insurance incorrectly the first time, they straightened that out, and more than a year later they sent us a bill for $20 with no explanation as to what it was for. All they would say is that the insurance didn't pay it in full and that with COVID they had to resubmit the claims, which is a lie because we would have received the EOB from the insurance. Literally, go anywhere else!! They are shady and unethical!! read more

Get a second opinion before they grind all your teeth down, send you to get root canals, extractions & implants. They destroyed my strong healthy teeth. I had trust and they totally took advantage of me and my insurance. My last visit they devised a treatment plan to destroy 3 more of my teeth, even after regular check-ups & cleanings. Made no sense to me. So, I went to a different dentist. Prognosis was very positive and didn't include any grinding away of my teeth to set me up for crowns, root canals and implants. I do not trust Yellowstone Family Dentistry at all. They put me through Hell and capitalized off my insurance. read more

I brought my four-year-old son into Yellowstone for oral surgery, I was a nervous wreck at first because he had a lot of work that needed to be done. Because of his age and also having autism they had to put him under anesthesia for almost 2 hours for the operation. Not only did the staff, Dr. Lim, and my son exceed my expectations, but they were so caring and gentle throughout the entire process. Initially he was grumpy first waking up but then napped most of the day an by dinner time was back to his normal happy healthy self! The work that was done to his mouth turned out fantastic and there has been no complications either. I am beyond satisfied! read more

Under duress at Dr. Thomas Smiles, my family needed to move. We asked a medical professional for a recommendation and she recommended hers, YFD. We are so happy. YFD is 1/3rd the price of where we were. From the first step in the door the staff was looking after our specific needs. Big change and so happy we found this practice. Previously we used Dr. Youngbauer in Forsyth, just love that place and their family care. Have lived in LA, NYC, etc and have always enjoyed our dentists - as much as that's possible :-), except Dr. Thomas Smiles' high pressure coercion, low patient concern. He creeped my kids out. If you're in Billings and need a great dentist, want to feel safe and cared for, with a helpful dentist who will listen to your needs, try YFD. Thanks folks! read more

I am very upset with this dental office. My daughter had oral surgery by them. I took her into her regular dentist for tooth pain. Well the cap they put in failed and now her tooth is badly abscessed and needs to be pulled and a special retainer made. I called Yellowstone and let them know so I could make her an appointment. they ABSOLUTELY REFUSED to see her. Denied the cap failed without even seeing it and even though it was confirmed by her regular dentist. Will not see her because she does not have multiple problems but just the one tooth. SO unbelievable!!!! Will never return or recommend to anyone. If you cant stand by your work or correct your mistakes you should not be in business!!! the receptionist who answered was also VERY unprofessional. read more

I wanted to book my kids separately so I could focus on what dental work the dentist recommended for my twin toddlers. The front staff was very pushy that it would be easier for them with paperwork if I brought them in at the same time, so unfortunately I brought them both at the same time. We had our exam with Dr. Lim and he was condescending and rude! At one point during the exam he said, "Isnt there anyone you could have brought with you to help you?? Where is your husband? I can't focus and talk to you with how much they wiggling!" He is suppose to be a pediatric dentist? I think not! Needless to say, I DID NOT make another appointment with them! read more

My son and I went to this office after Tricare changed my coverage. They told me that between the two of us, we had 9 cavities. My son and I have both been to other dentists for second opinions (we both went to our old dentists). Neither of us have any cavities. These guys are crooks. Additionally, I should mention that we were there for three hours, billed $700 dollars, and never even got a cleaning. I'm reporting this office to the state board. I'm disgusted. read more

I literally had a hunk of plaque stuck to the back on my tooth that I had to scrape off myself when I left. Dr. Lim is a fabulous dentist. I am very anxious in the dental chair and he helped calm me and put me at ease. I have had a few crowns and fillings placed over a 6 year time frame. I have been seeing Dr Saunders at Yellowstone for a few months now. She and her staff are incredible! I have had many different dentists throughout my life, but not one measures up to Dr Saunders! She is so gentle and sweet. Her staff and Dr Lim are so nice! The office is very well run, and super-techy. Everything is clean and up to date. Dr Saunders put a crown on my tooth the other day and I had to take a pain pill due to a back injury and she was so concerned that I took it with food, she gave me a gift card and sent me to the nearby coffee shop for a nibble! That's just how she is! I'm sending my husband to Yellowstone too. My smile matters to me and I truly feel that it matters to Dr Saunders and her team too! I highly recommend Yellowstone Family Dentistry. I've heard Dr Lim interact with his patients and I am very impressed! He's great with kids! read more

ZERO stars. The only thing these dentists care about is money. My story plus others should guide you away from this dentistry practice. They do not care about their patients concerns; they only care about how much their patients can pay them. My story: They mislead me by saying that all I needed was a filling. They didn't do root canals, so rather than lose business by referring me straightaway to someone who did do root canals; they convinced me that all I needed was a large filling. I was in pain for 3 months after the filling they gave me. I came back three times in tremendous pain. Not only did they refuse to give me pain relief for the constant tooth pain that their procedure caused, but they misled me! Dr. Saunder's husband (Dr. Lim) actually tried to sell me a bite guard, saying that this would end my pain. (I do not and have never suffered from bruxism.) He actually wanted to sell me a tooth guard for several hundred dollars instead of referring me to a dentist who would truly be able to help me by doing the root canal that I had needed all along! After 3 months of pain & agony, and 3 visits to them complaining of pain with no help other than to try to sell me a bite guard, I finally went to my old dentist in SF who was shocked to discover that they didn't tell me that I clearly needed a root canal! Finally, after 3 months of unceasing pain, my old & reliable dentist performed a root canal that rid me of the worthless months of pain and suffering caused by the dentists at Yellowstone. I am not the only patient who has been unhappy. I have spoken to 4 other patients (really! I know them all bc we all live in the neighborhood in which Yellowstone Dentistry is located) who had similar bad experiences. For example, Dr. Saunders is too busy chatting w/ her assistant to notice when her patients are flinching with pain. My experience of being disregarded while clearly exhibiting signs of pain has been verified by these 4 other former patients who stopped going to Yellowstone bc of their lack of care for anything besides getting paid. I am a kind person who does not like to speak poorly about others. However, the pain and disregard that these dentists exhibited not only towards me but towards people I know makes me angry enough to warn others not to trust them. read more

My daughter was born with little or no enamel on her front teeth because of a complication with antibiotics during my pregnancy. Her teeth grew in crescent shaped and streaked and one the adult teeth waiting behind them is not completely formed. We were referred to Dr. Lim to put crowns on her front teeth. We had to wait months for our appointment with him. When we arrived, while waiting in the waiting room, Dr. Lim came out to inform me that he wouldn't have time to take her in the back to examine her and asked if he could examine her in the waiting room. I was totally understanding and fine with that. However, he literally GLANCED at her teeth and then told me the that because of her young age the only option would be to put her under general anesthesia at the hospital. I assured him that she was incredibly compliant for her age and that we had hoped that he would attempt to do some sort of repairs in office, even if it wasn't crowns yet. Just fillings or a sealant or anything to help for now. He refused to even consider it and told me that parents always think their children are more well-behaved than they really are. When I asked questions about the procedure (I would think it would be appropriate to ask questions when someone wants to put your child under anesthesia) he became very defensive and refused to answer anything because he didn't know what exactly he would be doing until she was under anesthesia and he could examine her better. He also took it upon himself to tell me that because I nursed her at night when she was a baby that I caused her dental problems. He told me that nursing without immediately brushing her teeth or gums afterward was like giving my child a tootsie pop in bed and what did I expect? He basically just wanted me to trust him - no questions asked - to put my child under general anesthesia in the hospital and make whatever decisions he thought were best. Oh - and also - since we had Medi-Cal at the time he made a point to tell me how thankful I should be to be getting this service for free when other people have to pay a lot of money for it. When I asked if it would be possible to wait until she was a year or so older so that then maybe in his opinion she would be old enough to be compliant for any dental work he assured me that she would DIE OF SEPSIS because her teeth were infected and it was going to go in her bloodstream and since she is so small she would die very quickly. We ended up seeing a dentist who is a family friend and actually examined her. Her teeth were not infected and she was nowhere near ANY risk of sepsis. He told us we had plenty of time to wait for her to be older. We ended up saving up money to have the work done outside of Medi-Cal and not at the hospital under anesthesia. I have no idea how Dr. Lim has any patients with the way he treats people. Scare tactics, shaming, and a major superiority complex that everyone should trust his expertise, not ask any questions, and be thankful to be blessed by his service. No thank you. read more
