This company just relined our 85 year old sewer line from our home to the street. From our initial contact through the clean-up, every representative of the firm exceeded all our expectations. From receiving a phone call at 8PM on Friday night responding in minutes to my email request for an appointment (which was arranged the next day), to our appraisal of the clean-up, wondering how they left so small a lawn repair over a hole 9 feet deep, we were pleased with every response from each employee. They were on-time, well informed, pleasant (no boom boxes, no swearing), clean and respectful of our property. We were astounded at how well we were treated by every member of the team. Hat's off to this fine organization. And no, I'm not a relative: Rescue Rooter was not my choice when we were looking for help. read more

I was out of town and my dad had his sewer backup. He called this company to come unplug it. They told him if he didn't have some major work done that it would back up every few weeks. So they created fear in him to have it replaced. To solve the problem they recommended two different options. One to add a clean out that would cost $5k and another not to replace the sewer line, but put a pvc pipe inside of his existing line that would cost $9k. I have a really good friend who's a plumber that recommend another company to scope the drain and then email you a copy of it. Rescue rooter didn't leave a copy of the camera footage. After having the other company come and scope it, they said the line wouldn't need to be replaced. They recommend to hydro jet the line to clear the root out and all other debris. Total cost for scoping and jetting the line $600. That's a far cry from $5-$9k. I would never recommend these crooks. These guy work off commission and try to screw you. My dad is almost 70yrs old and they take advantage of the elderly for sure! Call Draintech and they will give you an honest opinion. My dads sewer line problem is solved. I was invited to be on the roof and watch them clear the root out of the line with there hydro jetting. They have the camera down the line to make sure they get all the roots and debris out. I would never use this company again. I called to have a drain snaked. It was already exposed and all they had to do was clean the drain and put the trap back on. They quoted me 350.00$ but said I could have 50$ off for having the pipe ready. I said no thank you and then they asked how much are you thinking. I said I will pay you 75 which is about the going rate. He said okay. I lost all faith in them at that point. 350.00$ and your willing to do it for 75.00$. Pretty dishonest on what it should cost. He knew I was being charged 7x what is the going rate. What if I didn't know it was way too much to pay that much. Never again will I call them. I will look anywhere else first. I looked up this company on this site and saw that they had really great reviews and over 4 stars. As we had a major problem with the sewer main at a duplex and it was late in the afternoon, I called and scheduled with them. Dan showed up sooner than advertised (and that was good) and went to work from inside the house in a bathroom cleanout trying to open the main. He was unsuccessful with the first snaking of the line and inserted a camera eventually to see what the stoppage was; there were numerous small roots. He tried a different cutting head on the snake and almost got the line stuck. At that point, he said that the line was in need of either replacement or snaking from outside the house. I was told that a cleanout would need to be installed in the front yard and would cost $4773 to put it in. They would MAYBE try to snake the line with a "Warthog" device but that it was chancy since he almost got the snake stuck and didn't really want to risk losing a $5000 device if the Warthog got stuck. So his recommendation was to insert a new high-tech liner into the pipe after digging and installing the cleanout, which would altogether cost just under $10,000. I said that I would sleep on it and let him know in the morning what we would do. I was charged only $150 instead of the $366 that was initially quoted. The next morning, I called Granger-Hunter Sewer District to ask if this problem was actually their problem as the stoppage in the line was located 80 feet from the house under the street on a main artery in West Valley City and talked with Joel in their office. He gave me really good information about our situation and advised that we get a second opinion. He also told us that cleanouts in WVC have been a mandatory installation for the last 50 years and all sewer cleaning companies should be aware of that. He offered to come out to our duplex and locate the cleanout for us which Dan, his associate, did within two hours of my calling. I can't say enough good things about the District and their assistance! After locating the cleanout, I scheduled with Remarkable Rooter (recommended to me) and John came out within a couple of hours. He snaked the line using the outside cleanout with a different cutting head than what Rescue Rooter used and was completely done with cutting out all the roots within 15 minutes of showing up. The charge was $130. Dan from Granger-Hunter came back out and performed a free of charge camera inspection and showed me that the roots had been completely removed. He then talked about using a foaming root killer 3 times a year to keep the line clear. Super great group of guys there in the District. read more

Rescue Rooter arrived within an hour of my call, and the man cleared the drain and was cleaned up and gone within half an hour. He was quick, serious, apparently knowledgeable, and did the job in a quick, clean, efficient manner. However, he quoted us a very high price before starting work, despite there being a special for one-third his quote on their website, which he honored when I pointed it out. So, be prepared to do a bit of bargaining. read more

Called and got great customer service. Price quote was great. Was given a specific arrival time for the plumber to show up. Waited for an hour longer. Nothing. Finally called and the lady at the call center said she could send somebody out in three hours. Um, no thanks. I can't tell you the quality of service they actually provide, since I cancelled the service order immediately. Whatever scheduling system they use for their contracted plumbers clearly doesn't work and I'd highly suggest calling a plumber directly and avoiding this ineffectual middleman. read more

I would definitely recommend Rescue Rooter. We've used them 3 times in the last 2 years as our house is 50 years old and the plumbing isn't great. The first time was because the drain in the basement was backing up when the washer was in use. They were very prompt in their response and had it power flushed ( snaked?) In no time. They also said they would guarantee their work for one year and if they had to come back it would be no charge, which was great because almost exactly a year later it needed to be done again! They came over within an hour, re-snaked and didn't charge a dime! This morning I went downstairs and the carpet was soaked and there was water under the stairs, I called them and they were here in less than an hour. The guy was great! He was very thorough and determined it was the sprinkler line next to the house. There is nothing he could do about that (understandable), he didn't charge anything and he even called a disaster clean up company for us! On 10/22/16 Tyler T. came out on the same day, and was able to clear a clog that was backing up to a vent pipe that had crumbled, and thus we had a leak. He was able to diagnose the problem (which we had pre-determined) and was not shady. He was honest about what had to be done, what he expected to happen, and wasn't pushy about up-selling the jetter (which we had previously experienced). Based on the information that Tyler provided us, we felt well informed, and trusted Rescue Rooter and knew right away that we wouldn't hesitate to call them in the future. He took time to talk about our leaking ventilation pipe, and popped into the attic to determine how much work would be required. He took the time to provide us with an estimate and was honest about the fact that we probably COULD do the work on our own. I LOVE THAT!!!!!!!!! Other companies had the DOOM approach telling us we couldn't Possibly cut out a pipe and replace it! Yeah right! We were struck by Tylers honesty, and willingness to do the RIGHT THING FOR US. On 12/8/16 we experienced another clog (it's ok, it was under the 90 day warranty!) and Randall Y came to assist within 1.5 hrs! He was to the point, he knew what he was talking about, and he answered all of my questions patiently. He was able to diagnose the problem very quickly (which again, I already had pre-determined), and did not push to up-sell the jetter, as it still didn't make sense to do, in my situation. He took the time to look at Tyler's notes from the previous fix, and knew that this fell under the 90 day warranty. He was even willing to look at another problem and advise me on what I needed to do/or consider and gave me a ball park figure on replacing my main stack (ouch!). Because of the time he took, I felt very well informed, educated, and was included in the whole process. I would use them again in a heartbeat as I TRUST both of these men who were there to HELP, and I am always weary of workers and specialty companies who gauge us because they can. Both men provided excellent, quick, and honest service, and placed chux (water barriers) down everywhere, used foot booties and were very polite. This company appears to be very customer friendly and customer satisfaction oriented. They don't want to squeeze you for money now, they want to keep you as a long term customer, and it shows in the way I've been treated. Even the phone triage people have been very friendly and understanding each time that I've called! Thank you Rescue Rooter for actually being who you advertise yourselves to be! When I called Rescue Rooter, the dispatcher was amazing. She was knowledgeable and clear and very efficient. Unfortunately, this was the only good part of my experience with this company. The plumber,Cary, was supposed to call 30 minutes before he arrived so I could have someone there to let him in. He did not. When he called to say he was outside my door waiting, he was rude and inconsiderate. He gave my roommate the estimate but would not talk to her or me about any thing else because we were not paying. I finally called my HOA manager who had to come talk to the plumber because HOA would be covering the bill. The plumber was somewhat decent to me until my HOA manager left then all of the sudden, everything was wrong and my pipes were 'bad' and my disposal was 'bad'. He told me my bill would be 125$ to replace the pipes then another 250$ to replace my disposal and he would not just hook everything back up. I had someone else come look at it all later and they fixed it all for about 25$ and my disposal was hooked back up and works perfectly. The 125$ pipes he replaced had to be trashed so the disposal could be hooked up properly. When I told the plumber that I did not want him to hook up my disposal because I did not want to pay the 250$ plus labor for a new one, he was very snide and told me that he would not make it easy for anyone else to hook it up and was taking all my old pipes so I would have to buy new parts. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. The bids I was given were ridiculous and the plumber was just trying to milk me for everything I'm worth! read more

Call Rescue Rooters if you want to make your plumbing issues worse! After $2,900 and almost 2 months of trying to get them to do the work that they said would be done in 24 hours- I STILL HAVE A BROKEN TOILET! Not to mention in the process of them hydro-jetting out the pipe to get this toilet working again they managed to do additional damage to the other plumbing in our home that was working perfectly fine before. I have a signed copy of the receipt saying there is a warranty but it doesn't seem to matter since they don't bother calling back or even try to make it seem like they're attempting to actually fix it. Not that I really want them too try to fix it again since they've done more bad than good and would show up at all hours of the day and night (well past 7 pm like other reviews state), or not show up at all when they were supposed to! Save your money or just call a more reputable plumber. This business is absolutely horrid. read more

I scheduled an emergency appt. with Rescue Rooter for a leaking water heater. I couldn't be more pleased with the quality of technical and customer service I received. After being stood up by a local plumber that I had called first it was a pleasure working with true professionals. Don came to assess the problem and after thoroughly explaining the problem, it needed to be replaced. He called to see if one was available and luckily one was. Then he called another tech who was in the area to have him pick it up along with a new water softener that needed replacing, and do the install. The tech,Tony, called to let me know he was on the way.The install and the cleanup went smoothly. What also impressed me was the person who scheduled the appt. She kept me informed as to when the techs would arrive. Tony had to go to another store to pick up the water heater and he called to tell me what was going on. It's been a long time since I felt I was valued as a customer. In the future Rescue Rooter will be my first contact for my plumbing needs. read more

Initially I had a backed up drain and called to have it fixed and the plumbing under the sink down-stairs replaced. They charged me 633.00 which came with a year warranty. The next day the sink drain disconnected from the sink and soaked everything under the sink. I put it back together and the next day the sink leaked from a different area so I called Rescue Rooter. Jeff came back to the house and tightened everything up under the sink down-stairs. He went upstairs and snaked the drain from there because the back-up was not any better. The next day the sink drain downstairs separated again and so I called them back and requested a different plumber. Mike came and said the sink drain was stripped where it connects to the sink so he replaced it. The next day the sink upstairs came apart and flooded the kitchen and leaked down into a basement bedroom. I called them again and Mike came and fixed that although there was damage to the house now. After calling and calling eventually Phillip came out to the house and looked at it. He asked me how much I wanted and I told him that my insurance has a 500.00 deductible. He said that he was thinking all I had to do was paint the ceiling downstairs and offered 100.00. I said sure and he said he'll bring me a check in the morning. He called this morning and told me that Jeff who he called Justin didn't disconnect that side of the drain upstairs and he shouldn't have to pay. I said whatever cause I don't want them back in my house anyway. Maybe he didn't disconnect it from that side but when you disconnect a drain to snake the drain you effect everything that is connected to the drain. When it came apart, my cousin was there and put it back together and then I had called them. Phillip said that the washer that was in backwards shows that it was not their fault. I suppose my cousin shouldn't have put it back together. They can keep that 100.00 and their business. You don't paint sheetrock that is wet because it will mold. I have 16 calls recorded on my phone trying to get these people to help me and then I get the cold shoulder. Please don't waste your money on these people. read more

I have used these guys in the past so I called them to clean out a drain where they would have to pull the toilet. I saw the online special of $88 and called them to schedule. I told them right away I saw the $88 special but they would need to pull the toilet. The lady said it would cost another $88 for that and she noted it in the computer. She already had my information in there from last time so she used that. When they got there (after many hours of delays) the technician quoted me $475. I told him I was quoted $88 and $88. He said that's not valid for a rental. I told him they charged me that in the past and he called his boss. The boss negotiated to $250. I was not happy with the bait and switch but I agreed since the drain was backed up and my renters needed it cleared. Then he called back and wanted payment up front before any work was done. Again, this was different from the last time I used them and I told him I have never not paid before and why would they charge up front? He just said they would not do any work until I paid. I told him to leave. I will never use these guys again. Beware the $88 special! read more

My daughter-in-law called them when she experienced a problem when we were out of town. They came right away and cleared the clog. That was the only good thing they did. They showed her pictures of my drain line out to the street and the pictures they showed her were of a collapsing pipe with serious problems. They wanted to start tearing out our yard immediately. Well, we came home the next day and I had Orem city come out and they took a video of the line from the street to my house, and it was perfectly clear!! The pipe is fine! Rescue Rooter wanted to replace my entire sewer line! So - whose pictures did they use to try and scam my daughter-in-law? ALSO: Beyond that scam, they put the toilet back on incorrectly. No new o-ring, and they set it crooked. They didn't even fasten it down on one side. Luckily my husband does this for a living and he discovered the problems. I would NEVER use this company. The original man who came out was very kind and nice, according to my daughter-in-law, but when his 'Boss' showed up with the camera, she said he was very pushy and wanted her to start the replacements right away. I scares me to think of how many people have been suckered into replacing a system that didn't need to be replaced. read more

Very unprofessional. I made an appointment that they didn't keep; said they were "too busy." Finally showed up the next day. Informed me that I had a broken sewer and water line. Quoted me almost 7500 dollars to fix them. I got a second opinion. Turns out that only my water line was broken and the area where they said the sewer line ran, is nowhere near where the line actually is. The technician also said my pipes are clay....Nope they are PVC because the previous owner fixed the line. The technician dispatched also couldn't quote me a price, he had to call a supervisor. They conferred out of my hearing and came up with that outrageously expensive amount. Also found out that they are paid on commission. Buyer beware. Needless to say, I went with the other guy. I still get high pressure calls to "schedule my repair". Please verify their claims and get a second opinion. Could save you thousands of dollars in unnecessary repairs. Do not contact this company for service!! I was out of town and had a house sitter at my house when the sewer line backed up. I contacted Rescue Rooter since they had a deal of $88.00 to clear a drain. They got out to my house and immediately started quizzing my house sitter about putting tampons down the drain. I was on the phone with them as they told me the backup was coming up the bathtub and they need to video the drain at a cost of 547.00.. I gave them the go ahead. They called me back and told me there is a problem with where my sewer line connects to the main and to fix the problem it would cost $6,900.00. I told them to hold off. Contacted Magna Water they sent a tech out and he saw what the Rescue Rooter guys claimed to be the issue. Magna Water called me and told me to pay them to get off of the property they are trying to take me for $6900.00 cuz I'm out of town. I called them back paid them and got them out of there. Magna Water came in and did their own video of the pipes and there was no problem. Be very careful! read more
