Horrible customer service. We had called rescue rooter to come out to on of our rental properties. We received an email that they would be coming between 6 PM and 7 PM. Once 7 past and we had not heard from them we called them. They said it was now after hours and they would charge us an after hours fee. Well we needed to get this fixed since it was considered an emergency since our resident only had a one bathroom unit. They also said we were next in line and they would be there in the 8 o'clock hour. Well, 8 came and went. We called and they assured us they would be out. By 10PM they had not shown up and called and told us they were now cancelling. We lost hours of finding someone with the promise of them coming to the rescue. I have been calling this company for over 12 years -- I have some minor roots in my main line, and I do preventative clean-out every 2 years or so. Twelve years or more ago, they were good. A couple years ago, and again this year, they send out a "supervisor" for the job, whose task is to up-sell the client on a major renovation. I know my sewer, I have done cameras on it multiple times. I have lived here for over 17 years. All I wanted or needed was a good routine main-line rooter clean-out. The supervisor showed up about on-time but without a tech to do the job. He tried to convince me I needed an new sewer line relining. And he put on a hard sell. It was ridiculous. He told me it would cost $75,000 to replace my sewer if it collapsed, and he could help prevent that. I had their coupon for a main-line clean-out for $88 dollars, found on their webpage. He insisted even a simple cleaning rooter job would cost much more. I thanked him for his advise, and explained that was all I needed. He left and told me he would send a tech later. I waited three hours, well past appointment time, and no one called or showed up. Finally, I called him back, five hours later and he told me he might be able to have one here before 7pm. At 7:30p, no call. I called Roto-Rooter that night. They came on-time the next day, did a great job, and made no effort to convince me I needed any work other than that I requested. They did a camera on my lines, and agreed I just need a routine cleaning. Their price was fair. I will never call this company again. read more

I have tried 3 different times to use these people and when you call, you get their scheduling center. They always tell me they can get someone out same day. Then 2-3 hours later, the local office calls and said it will be 5 days. Finally I asked for a manager and got Tracy in the local office. He blamed it on the call center...WRONG. DO NOT USE. I rent out my house as a vacation rental property. I've used this service many times with no problems. Until today. The plumber came out relatively quickly for an Easter Sunday, but then left his tools and a foul mess in the bathroom and told my guests he was coming back. 4 hours later and numerous phone calls, and there is still a mess. After escalating the issue to one of their managers named Tracy, he claimed the job was done and there were no problems. Despite the foul mess and tools left behind for hours. He then tells me that they aren't responsible for cleaning up the mess. For the money I paid, I expected professionalism, courtesy and timely service. I got none of those, especially from Tracy, who seemed none to happy to be talking to me. The pleasant German fellows staying in the house said : "I don't know how it works in America, but in Germany our plumbers do all of the work, including cleaning. I've never experienced one to leave tools behind and say it's my problem." How embarrassing. read more

I will never use Rescue Rooter again after they sent an incompetent plumber to clear roots from my home's main drain as he ended up costing me $1865.00 in damages. I switched to Rescue Rooter (after using a reputable company (Remarkable Rooter) for years) as they had a $87 special (and now in retrospect what a mistake since it ended up costing me a lot more). The last couple times (2014, 2015) worked out fine. However this year (late 2016) the guy they sent (Russell W.) made several big mistakes. He had a problem getting the clean out cap back on so he hit it very hard over and over with a wrench. I asked him is that going to break the iron pipe? He said he has been doing it for the three years he has been doing this and never had a problem. It seemed OK and I put the washing machine back. Six weeks later I happen to discover that it is leaking and had been doing so without my knowledge for quite some time. The Rescue Rooter guy in his arrogance broke the cap and pipe. It was a new cap I had put in myself several years ago and neither myself or any of the other plumbers had ever had a problem with it. It was now past the 30 day warranty period (note that in 2014 the warranty period was 90 days and in 2015 it was 60 days) so I called a different (more reliable I hoped) plumber. The cost to put in a new cleanout pipe was $135 but it turns out the pipe further up from the cleanout was cracked and leaking also from the wrench banging which would be $440 to fix. In addition the clean out leaked through the drywall to an adjacent bathroom and in order to remove the sink and vanity to dry the area I needed them to replumb that at $325. At that point I just wrote a negative review here (since deleted in trying to work this out with them) and left it at that. Then a little over 3 weeks later one evening the basement main drain (the one I have cleared out each year to avoid this) backed up and flooded two rooms. How could this have happened if the tree roots were cleared out? I called old reliable Remarkable Rooter to come out on an emergency basis after hours ($290). I watched as they started working on it and when they hit the obstruction (tree roots) it was pretty significant and they had to work on it to clear it. It seems that Russell not only broke the pipe but he didn't actually do the job he was hired to do! The next day I had to call disaster mitigation specialists to come and disinfect and professionally dry out the affected areas. Three days of blowing and dehumidifier machines to dry out and hopefully prevent mold at a cost of $675. It was at this point I wrote to the manager of Rescue Rooter explaining the situation and asking for a total of $1187.00 reimbursement which included their visit fee, the cost to replace the clean out pipe and after hours plumber and emergency service as a result of their negligence. He came out and looked at things and then said he would refund me the cost of the visit and clean out pipe ($222) . He gave numerous reasons which essentially blamed the customer for not wanting to reimburse for the rest. I rebutted every reason he gave and although I thought I was being reasonable for only holding them responsible for $1187 out of a total of $1865, the facts and evidence of the matter are that we have lived in the house for 11 years and have someone come every 12 months to clean out the roots to avoid a flood and the catastrophe and costs that incurs. When the job is done right, they don't have to come back and we don't have to have someone come back again for at least 12 months. This includes two prior Rescue Rooter plumbers who cleaned out the roots for us in 2014 and 2015! I am wondering if the company reduced their warranty period to reduce their costs to cover expensive mistakes. After I received the check for $222, I then proceeded to lodge a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. A corporate representative of Rescue Rooter from another state contacted me via email and we spoke on the phone. Their formal response to the BBB of the exhaustively detailed and documented BBB complaint was baffling, so much so that I contacted the person and asked did they get all the documentation from the BBB and they responded that they did. They didn't address my concerns in the letters about why I hold them responsible for the flood. The BBB complaint is closed as unresolved. As I stated in the intro, this is all I can do now and explain what happened and be left holding the bag for almost $2000 worth of damages. read more

My sewer backed up into my basement last night- 1 call and Matt was here in less than 30 minutes helping to solve the problem. I had a horrible experience with this company.I was charged for 3 hours of service when they were her for almost 45 minutes. They replaced my face plate on my bathtub without any input from me. It cost me $160 and did not match my bathroom. The technician was and hour and a half late without calling. When I called about the problems, I was promised that someone would come and take a look at the situation. They never showed up, even with a reminder. The leak was fixed. Six hours later, my problem was not solved, but my wallet was saved. After calling for a mainline backup, it took five hours and six calls before someone finally showed up. Time quotes were doubled before I got another call that it would be longer, and I had to confirm three times that I still wanted someone to come out. When the technician arrived, the cost was TWICE what I ended up paying, not to mention the after 11 pm fee since that was the current time of service. If I could do zero stars I would. I called around looking for a company to unclog the floor drain in my basement. I found them and was so excited they could come on a Saturday without weekend fees. I was quoted $89 and set it up. I told them upfront it's a home that I rent, not own but I'm taking care of the cost. All they said was they'd need approval from the owner. That's fine. They got the confirmation from the owner and called me back to tell me that since I rent the home, it would be "OVER $400"!!! WHAT?! Under ONE hundred to OVER FOUR HUNDRED just because I rent?? I was told it classifies as a commercial property instead of residential since I'm a renter. That's absurd. It's a rental home. I'm livid. I am grateful they told me before I was charged four times the original amount, but this is a terrible way to charge people. What a crook. I don't know if they're good at their job because they chose to charge a single woman trying to make it on her own $400+ to unclog a drain. Found another company that will do it Monday for $37.50. This company told us we had roots surrounding and blocking our sewer line. They recommended an $20,000 fix. A second opinion found zero root blockage and cleared a small spot that was backed up, cost was $250. There needs to be a negative star rating. Don't use Rescue Rooter. We contacted Rescue Rooters to come clear our line because our bathtub was backed up. We have a combined line with our neighbor and they were aware of this. They had a special for $88 but when they arrived they said the only way to access the line was by removing the toilet and so it was going to cost over $200. Anytime we've had anything done with the line including the other time it was cleared they accessed it from the exterior. I told them this and the plumber argued it was the only way. Seeing that he was a professional I accepted it because I just wanted to be able to use my only bathroom. Well, 15 min. later the plumber hollered at me to come and said, "you're going to freak out". (Wow, that's an understatement. My entire bathroom was covered in sewage and it was leaking into my carpet in my bedroom.) "Your neighbor just used their water and flooded your bathroom." He never told me or the neighbor not to use their water. Then his boss showed up a little later to try and sell me on replacing the line which I would never hire them to do after what they did to my bathroom. Then they said it would be an additional $200 to clear the tub. I knew this was a joke because it was just an issue with the main line. I told them just to clean up the mess and I'd deal with the tub. It took my husband 2 min. with a snake to clear what they wanted to charge me $200 for. They didn't offer any apology or discount after ruining my bathroom. The plumber cleaned up the majority of the mess but we still spent hours scrubbing and disinfecting the entire room. Also, he knew it leaked onto my carpet and did nothing about it. We now have to replace the carpet because it was soaked with sewage. It's been a few weeks and no one from their company has called to offer any sort of apology. I wish I could post the picture to show just how bad it was. When i told my insurance company how much money they wanted to fix a clog from the outside of my house they insisted i get 2 other estimates. Worst company EVER!!!! I called yesterday to get an appointment. I let the lady know I am a single mom of three kids and had to turn the water off due to a severe leak. She said no problem will get somebody out first thing tomorrow morning. The company called me at 11 to let me know they had no plumbers. She said they all called off. If you have no plumbers, why are you plumbing company first. Second why did you wait till the middle of the day when you know I have No water to call and cancel. Why not cancel it first thing in the morning so I have the chance to hire another plumber. I did explain I didn't care how late they came as long as they came and she argued with me and told me there was no way they would give me a plumber today that they would reschedule for tomorrow. I explain my trust with them is no longer and how do I know they're not gonna call me tomorrow at noon and cancel again because what if all the plumbers call off again. I used them the other day to clean out a basement drain. While they were very prompt and courteous and got the job done, they did GROSSLY overcharge me for the service. I called to complain about this and was basically told that "we have van payments to make". I did get an estimate before hand and the technician led me to believe that I would not find the service cheaper anywhere else. He stated that the "other" companies ads were lies. I called corporate office and spoke with a representative name Sametria who was incredibly warm and helpful. I received a call from the West Valley office and talked things through with Tracy who understood my position and offered some rebuttal to some of my understandings of how things should have gone. We ended the conversation amicably and Tracy offered $50 off if I wanted to try RescueRooter again in the future. He also said that a complete refund will be issued within 3 business days. Thank God we called someone else for a second opinion! Got the job done for under $300.00 after getting a quote from Rescue Rooter for $2,995.00. Yep, that's right. We saved over two thousand dollars by NOT using these guys. We needed our drain snaked and they said that they were going to have to take our shower our and jackhammer the floor. TERRIBLE! I called this company on the reviews of this site, only to have one of the worst services of my life. (Son dropped his pullup in the toilet) 8:00 PM Friday: Initial call, promised technician within an hour. 9:30 PM Friday: They called me saying a technician would be out within an hour. 10:30 PM Friday: I called them, asked if the technician was in route. He was not, so I rescheduled, and they promised a technician from 8-9AM 9:30 AM Saturday: They called me to say that they were busy and would have a tech out by 10:00-11:00. 11:30 AM Saturday: Getting irritated, they promise to have someone out within an hour. 12:30 PM Saturday: The tech finally shows up as I am putting my son down for a nap. He then said it would be $119.00 to run his augur (a toilet snake) down my toilet, and if necessary, $105.00 to pull my toilet to augur it from the bottom. I had already snaked the toilet from the top with no success, and had a coupon for the same service from a different company for $50.00, he said he would call his manager and see if he could get a better price. After calling, he reported they could not and I asked him to leave. 5 minutes later he knocks on the door again and says "His manager misunderstood him, and they could do both services for $80.00", as I didn't want to wait for the other company, I paid the $80.00. He snaked it from the top with no luck, then pulled the toilet and tried to snake it from the bottom with no success. He then informed me: "Looks like you need to buy a NEW TOILET??!!! I took a flashlight and noticed that HE HAD BEEN JAMMING HIS SNAKE IN THE WRONG DIRECTION!!!! The pullup was right there from the other direction, pulled it, and we were back in business. In December of 2014 our floor drain backed up, flooding our wash room. Rescue Rooter came out quickly and took care of it. Everyone was great to work with, especially the plumber who came out. He got our drain working again, but had some concerns so he said he would have someone come out with a camera to see if there was more that needed to be done. They also said the work was guaranteed for 90 days. No one ever came out. I call the dispatch several times, and even called the plumber, and never heard back from anyone. Our floor drain backed up again in May 2015. When I called and explained the situation they said they would send someone out with camera. I was called shortly by dispatch saying that someone would be at our home within 30 minutes, and again I explained the situation. The plumber arrived at our house and called me with an estimate. When I asked him about the cost, he said he had no control over that. When I told him if there was going to be a cost I would rather start over and find a company that would follow through on their commitments he quickly left the house. read more
