It felt super shady the way they would always tell us we didn't need to pay anything, but every time, we would receive a bill after the appointment. This happened to all three of us constantly. The receptionist at the front desk even admitted that they overcharge and basically max out your insurance. Every single time we needed to come to the dentist (even for basic care), we always had the receptionist check if our insurance would cover the visit and she always said yes. However, every time, we would also get a bill for $200-300 and if we try to dispute it, they call us and tell us if we don't pay, they're going to send it to collections. I was fed up with these tactics and ended up finding a new dentist. We're now going to one in Sunnyvale and our experience has been so seamless. They stated they always give you your upfront costs that you would need to pay and if there's any excess payment after insurance and they didn't tell us, they'll just waive it. It has been such a huge relief going to a different dentist and knowing if you'll have any costs before you accept treatment. We were not ok with unexpected bills and how hostile they were threatening to send it to collections every time.

By the actual treatment consultation over zoom 3 weeks later all the treatment approaches changed to the complete opposite. As I asked why everything changed and how follow on options would look like, the doctor said there's not enough trust, she can't treat my daughter, and hung up on me within 15min. There was no room for discussion or questions. It was odd to see the doctor expecting trust for a 2yr treatment, while not willing to spend 3 more min explaining her rationale. Bottom line is if she chooses to treat you, I'm sure it'll be fine. But you might end up hearing all the good stuff in first meeting, wasting both time and hundreds $$$ on photos for a second meeting, then get all the opposite stories and get hung up on for the last. Their X-ray and picture fees are about twice as high as other ortho, so seems like a business idea to maximize income no matter what.

My treatment also included the need for surgery right around the halfway point, never having had surgery before this was a stressful and daunting process. However, Signature Orthodontics was perfect when it came to communication between their office and Kaiser's to coordinate the plan and preparation for my jaw surgery. I had heard horror stories about gaps in communications between orthodontists and surgeons in these types of scenarios, but it was a huge relief that my experience was painless. I do believe when it comes to orthodontic treatment, there is a level of mutual responsibility for successful results. The onus can not be entirely laid at the orthodontist's feet, that being said Dr. Mozafari and her team provide all the necessary tools for treatment turn out positive. If you have any questions, or if you notice something about your smile, you want the team to focus on, they are more than willing to listen to your feedback. I would 100% recommend their team for orthodontic treatment. Over the past 5 years, she's shown she truly cares and never pushes unnecessary procedures. For example, another endodontist told me to replace a tooth with resorption, but Dr. Jen monitored it instead--it hasn't worsened and doesn't bother me. After a crown was replaced for a family member, the patient experienced ongoing pain and inflammation. When we compared the old crown with the new one, the new crown appeared significantly longer than the original. We were not informed before the procedure about this significant change in the crown or the potential risks and complications associated with it. We contacted the office because of the continuing problems. We were initially told that the crown could be redone, but the office later refused to redo it and instead offered a referral for surgery to reduce the affected area. What was most disappointing was how our concerns were handled. We expected the office, particularly Dr. Chen as the owner, to take the patient's ongoing pain seriously and provide a clear explanation and reasonable solution. Instead, we felt that responsibility for addressing the problem was shifted to another procedure. she initially offered to refund the crown cost, then later she rejected to refund. A dishonest and careless provider. I will suggest you avoid this dentist office.

I know they have a dental hygienist, but Dr. Chu has cleaned my teeth every visit. Most dentist at his success usually have a hygienist do these, but I so appreciate it when I get the doctor himself, because I really believe that it's another opportunity for him to catch anything that the X-rays may have missed. Then I received a call that I have to pay $100.00 for the visit and X-rays, I told Michael the office operator that my insurance was 100 % coverage for visits and Xray. I called my insurance and in effect, I'm covered. Called the office and spoke to "Michael" and he said I had to pay $100.00 and to get reimbursed from my insurance. I made this appointment on April 17, today is May 4th and it was the day I was giving. Since I didn't want to loose my spot, I was willing to pay $100.00 then I received a call that the Dr. didn't feel 'comfortable' taking me in as a patient (???) I called, it went to VM, called again went to vm, they are refusing my calls. -Is better not to see her-. It seems like this office is not professional and honest or does have integrity. Even with my insurance that covers 100% they want me to pay $100.00. Is sad to know this type of office is operating.
