Sushi was fresh, not tasty/flavorful, but very fresh. Rating the sushi alone, if you're looking for something simple, a quick meal and fresh, this place may be your go to (didn't think it was worth the price. Paid a little over $30 for the two things pictured below). I was worried about the quality with so many different rolls being offered on the menu, but they prepare the sushi made to order- the freshness is there. I think the service wasn't as fast as everyone is saying in other reviews. I got there right when they opened at 11AM. I was actually in the parking lot much earlier but had to wait until they opened ofc. I ordered two rolls and it took about 20 minutes to make- no one else in the establishment but myself. Customer service was dead. I'm pretty upbeat as that is my personality, I came in excited to try and was met with some annoyance. As I was leaving, I said to the chef "thank you was delicious" then said "everyone have a wonderful day" they literally stared at me and ignored, before I finally walked out. Wasn't expecting that as I was the only one there and was there as soon as they opened. Not sure that I would go again. I think one time was enough. There are much better sushi places to try, maybe not so much in the Bayonne area. read more

I love sushi and since this place opened I haven't had a chance. I decided to stop there for a late birthday bite and I wasn't disappointed . First, the location has parking, and it's a little cozy and quaint inside. It's not set up for a large group to eat in but, for a person or two there's a small table. They offer a variety of sushi, poke bowls, mochi and other Japanese snacks , etc. The staff is cordial and are kind. The menu was reasonably priced . I bought four rolls ( two of which were specialty rolls)and it came out to $29! That's a great price . I only waited about 7-8 mins and my rolls came out fast and beautifully prepared . The yellowtail scallion roll wasn't as tasty as I thought it would be . Didn't have any kick to it and you barely tasted the scallion. The yellowtail with avocado was so smooth and melted in your mouth. The calamari tempura roll was crunchy and tasted fresh. The sauce gave it a sweet taste to it which was nice. The best out of the four was definitely the shrimp tempura lover roll. OMG it was the most delicious thing i've ever tried. The shrimp, the crab, the avocado, and the sauce poured on top was absolutely divine. It was sweet, tangy and melted on the first bite . They also have a small Asian grocery section. Large menu and the speciality rolls are only $11/$12 and normal rolls around $4. 8 pieces. Prices are just amazing and quality is amazing. My husband got the seafood udon soup. Broth was light and flavorful. Noodles cooked perfectly. Had some imitation crab, shrimp and maybe clams or something not sure. But it was very good. I got the sweet potato and cream cheese roll. I was not expecting it to be purple yam and it was! It was perfectly fried and paired well with the cream cheese went so well. 8 pieces for $4.50. The roll was filling surprisingly. I also got the lovely salmon roll $11.99. Plenty of fresh thick cut salmon on it. So good, I love the crunchy and sweet combo with the mango. Then we got $1 mochi for dessert. The sesame was my favorite. Rich flavor and creamy. The taro one was a bit too sweet. I can't wait to come back. Best sushi in the area. For tasty takeout sushi, this place is a winner. It's definitely not set up to be a dine in restaurant, and I don't think they even have table service. Not a date night candidate but very yummy. Their menu has fewer varieties of fish than other sushi restaurants I've been to, but I think this is generally a good thing because what they do serve is quite fresh tasting. Not only do they have the best prices in the area, the fish is fresh, and they have an authentic Japanese style. They give huge servings with all of their entrees. The appetizers are tasty but are small servings. So your best bet is to go straight for the meals. My favorites are there donburi and sushi rolls. Tasty sushi party tray for a decent price. We Placed a delivery order for sushi. We ordered the 52 price sushi party tray that included 2 Cali rolls, 2 spicy Cali rolls, shrimp tempura roll, and a mini shrimp tempura roll. We were super content with the tray. Everytime I order platters from Yi Sushi they just get better and better! The quality of the fish is excellent for the price point. It is small shop that has minimal seating but be fooled, their selection of Japanese groceries are outstanding and it is just an extra treat when getting our platters. Probably the best Sushi spot in all Bayonne. Yes, it's a small hole in the wall, but unfortunately, the freshest sushi you'll find. I visited Umi, and although very good, there are days when the Salmon tastes as if they ran out of proper Salmon and grabbed a piece from Walmart! No bueno! Their imported Melon and Mango sodas are incredible! There are several Sushi spots to choose from in Bayonne and I've tried them all and this small spot has won me over! read more

Took about 30 minutes for the order to be ready. We ordered a Kani Salad & Miso Soup to begin with, and for the main meals, we went with a Samurai Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, and Spicy Tuna roll. All of the food was excellent. Her favorite was the Kani Salad and Shrimp Tempura roll, but really enjoyed everything. I tried a piece of everything and though everything was delicious. So let me start by saying.. the sushi here is really yummy. Everything I have tried is delicious. I suggest if you're short on time call your order because they can get busy. But I despite my craving & my wanting to spend money at Yi sushi I won't be going back. Heres why I'm leaving 1 star, in my about 7-10 times of getting food here the gentlemen who takes the orders in front is nothing but rude. He exudes a vibe where as soon as people approach it's like they are annoying him by placing an order. Unsure what you want? He rushes you. Speak to quietly? He'll make sure he taps loudly on his hand drawn little sign taped to the partition. If there is anything special changes you need to make or lord forbid you want your order split you'll notice the change in his demeanor. I split my order once... I was met with a "Let us know when it's a split order next time". He was so clearly annoyed that he had to press an additional 5 buttons instead of 1, he kept my card behind the register & didn't charge me for a Snapple I asked to be combined with my order. He must not have heard me because he was so upset. I asked for my card back & again he said "Let us know when it's a split order next time" No sorry. No thank you. No have a good day. I strongly feel especially when it comes to business you want someone who is warm & kind taking care of the customers. That man is no sense of the words. It stinks because I really want a Phoenix roll but it has to be done to avoid trash customer service. read more

Amazing sushi and amazing customer service! Their yelp page says they don't deliver but THEY DO. I ordered a California roll (8pieces) a shrimp tempura roll (6 pieces) and a miso soup. Everything was delicious! The lady on the phone was super sweet and told me my food would be delivered in 40 minutes but I actually only waited 20!
