The highlight of my food trip to Richmond! I cannot express how phenomenal the brisket rice roll is, absolutely delicious! We also got the wonton soup, which was also really good, but I was so taken in by the rice rolls I forgot to take a picture of the soup Great little family-run restaurant, I loved reading about the history of its menu, how they started with rice rolls and congee, and the servers were great. Smaller dining are, and The only difficult thing is finding parking outside. There's a parking lot that's free but it was completely full when we got there, we ended up parking down the road and walking. But the walk was totally worth it!
A great breakfast place. Serves various rice rolls and congee! Lots of variety to choose from. Consistently delicious and tasty. Great staff, friendly and fast service. Nice clean place.
Best Rice Rolls---especially shrimp and pork and hot, steaming comforting Congee, with chicken and century egg. Add a dash of hot spicy chili oil and you're set. We've been coming here for years during breakfast. The restaurant is very basic, nondescript---but it's airy and tables are spaced out. Service is competent and efficient. Unless you speak Chinese, there's no place for cheerful banter. Plenty of parking outside. You come here for the food only, and you'll be rewarded.

Our family of six arrived on a Tuesday afternoon and there was no wait. This is mainly a lunch for my mom, a vegetarian, and my young daughters. We ordered the following: Rice noodle with fried fritters (炸兩) Rice noodle with truffled mushroom (皇子菇松露腸粉) Shrimp wonton noodle soup (雲吞面) Fried fish skin (炸魚皮) Iced Hong Kong milk tea (凍港式奶茶) The rice noodles were incredibly thin and smooth. Everything looks simple but it takes a lot of skill to make these "sheets" of rice noodle. We are from Chicago and I noted they have a location in Toronto. I am looking forward to checking out that location!
6/4/26- Opened up Yelp to see where a dim sum place was.. What do you know... my CM Michael T. was here 9 days ago? Also another Reno fellow Yelper had also posted a review.. Really wanted dim sum and when handed the menu did not see it it was a noodle house- lol.. Hmmm... ended up making the best of the situation.. ordered the S36 beef brisket with rice.. Wow!.. perfect and tender.. Also got the shrimp egg rolls.. had to wait which means they were cooked to order... Perfect and crispy and not satiated with oil.. The choy sum oh so good with oyster sauce!.. So glad I have some Yelper's to guide me-

We got the beef and shrimp rice roll and bbq pork chive roll. Both rolls were tasty. The rice roll skin was nice and smooth. Portion size was ok. There are parking in front of the restaurant. We came at a good timing so we didn't have to wait for a table. Service was ok here. The server spoke English, Mandarin and Cantonese. Decor was average and clean inside.

This place is the real deal if you are looking for authentic Cantonese food. From the moment you walk in, everyone is speaking Cantonese and it immediately feels legit. They also give you free hot tea, which is always a huge plus and sets the tone right away. I ordered the beef and shrimp rice noodle roll along with the Hong Kong style milk tea. The rice roll was honestly perfect. Super smooth, delicate texture, great balance of beef and shrimp, and seasoned exactly how it should be. I genuinely cannot think of anything they could have done better with it. It tasted just like what you would expect from a proper Cantonese spot. The Hong Kong style milk tea was hot and strong. Definitely more on the bold side, so if you like that deep tea flavor, you will love it. It paired really well with the rice rolls. Service was fast and everyone was very friendly, which made the experience even better. This is one of those places you come to when you want something authentic, comforting, and done right. I would absolutely come back and order the same thing again.
A fairly popular chain across Canada and US. Nonetheless I was craving some rice noodle rolls so this place was ideal as we went fairly late for dinner and most of these places are primarily lunch service. This place can get busy as they restrict dining to 45 minutes during busy times, but it wasn't busy when we went. But this means that food should arrive quickly, and it did (within 5 minutes of ordering) so this is ideal for a quick, casual meal We got the truffle paste with pork and shrimp rice noodle rolls, dough stick roll, cold fish skin, and "frozen" Hong Kong milk tea. The rice noodle rolls were decent. The truffle one had strong truffle flavor and the rice noodle roll is on the mushier side for my liking. However, the one with dough stick was excellent and the sauces add up the flavors very well. The cold fish skin dish is recommended and had a nice bouncy texture that is somewhat similar to that in jellyfish, and it tastes spicy but not really. The frozen HK milk tea is purely for pictures because I would not justify a $3CAD (almost the price of the hot HK milk tea itself!) premium for the cold option again. For a sit down casual restaurant, prices were a bit high. You can pay with cash or Canadian debit at no extra charge, but US debit or credit cards in general there is a $2CAD surcharge, so they do take credit cards at a fee now!
Excellent Food. Fast efficient service. There's almost always a line but line moves fast. It is important to note that while Yin Ji Chang Fan is a chain throughout US and Canada- not all Yin Ji's are good. Afterall, the quality of the chang fun (rice noodles) will highly depend on the Sufi's skills... and this Yin Ji is superior. MUST GET ITEMS: * Fried Fish Skin... so yum!! And dipping it i n the soup gives it that extra yum! * Sam Pan Jook - on point with flavors, ingredients and jook texture. Vey nice! * HK mill tea - totally legit and will keep you bouncing off the wall for a day. lol * Plan white rice noodle - I always prefer the plain rice noodle versus with fillings. Overall - great good and recommended!

This place will forever be a must whenever I am in town. The rice rolls were sooo so soft and perfect. I don't think you can go wrong with anything here. Just choose your filling to your preference. It was all so hot & fresh as well. The ladies working here are so quick with it. For ordering they have you write down on the paper for what you want and you receive it within minutes. I highly recommend.

i had the pleasure of returning to yin ji chang fen and absolutely loved it again. all of the rice rolls are so delicious still and the sauce is phenomenal. i also tried the vegetables and noodles this time - probably wouldn't get the noodles again, but still good. at peak hours you may have to wait outside before getting seated. it's not the biggest parking lot, but enough for customers. service is generally fine and what you'd expect from a chinese restaurant. overall i love yin ji chang fen and will be back! read more

Solid chang fen and congee. We came for breakfast around 8:15 on a Sunday, and the dining room was already full (they open at 8). The food comes out quickly, though, so the wait is short. If you're a smaller party you're at an advantage - tables seat 2 or 4; larger parties that require combined tables will wait longer to be seated. We shared the shrimp and chive chang fen, pork and century egg congee, and the wonton soup. Chang fen had that slippery silkiness; it was packed with lightly cooked shrimp. Congee was good - the pork was nice and soft, the pi dan creamy. Won ton was fine - not as flavorful as the other dishes, but it hit the spot. Service is fast and friendly; they accept cash, debit, WeChat or Alipay. Parking is free and plentiful in the morning (if you come later in the day, it'll likely be full due to the sharing of the plaza by several other restaurants). read more

I'll try to be as mindful as possible when writing this review. I firstly will start out with the fact that this place is not consistent, super over hyped and incredibly pricey. I'm not sure if i just got a bad can of vita but it tasted incredibly flat and it was at room temperature even though they took it out of the fridge. The deep fried buns weren't that good but as you can see they barely give you condensed milk too. I've had this dish at a ton of other restaurants for cheaper and with a whole lot more of condensed milk and the buns would actually taste fried and hot. The rice rolls were really thick and barely any filling inside. And with the price point being pretty steep compared to a lot of rice roll places in the city. I don't see how the price is even justified. My rice rolls legit had 3 shrimp inside total .. i was pretty shocked. The congee was bland and pretty runny. Barely any pork. The stewed beef brisket soup was probably the only thing that was actually good? Considering i normally don't even eat beef brisket but for the price point i wouldn't really drive out to eat it here again. The parking is very limited outside and the staff knows minimal english. Service was good but i don't think i'd be returning. read more
Absolutely amazing! I don't think any of there dishes can go wrong. The rice roll/changfen taste just like home. I like it thin and flavorful. Regardless any of the rice roll you get, the trick is to add eggs with it. We tried the fish skin for the first time and it was so crispy and its not that salty. Service was great too. You first get a number from them and they will call the number once tables are available. read more

So yummy!! We ordered a variety of things but our favorite was the rice rolls and the blanched liver and kidney dish! We did get the Hong Kong rice rolls with the side of sauce which were good but we quickly got tired of it. So I would highly recommend just ordering the rice rolls with filling! We got the pork and chives one and added egg which was so delicious. We love our organ meat and their liver and kidney dish hit the spot for us. The organs tasted so clean! We had to get the classic toast with condensed milk which you honestly cannot go wrong with but wish I had saved my tummy for another rice roll instead as it was my first time there. Their Hong Kong style milk tea also was so cute on a bed of ice but wish I had ice in it since the temperature wasn't consistent. Workers were so nice and it was easy to order since we just wrote down what we wanted on a piece of paper. I will forever think about this meal until I can have it again! read more
I'm surprised that after living in Richmond all my life, I have only just tried this wonderful Chinese rice roll and snack place. We arrived on a Sunday morning and were lucky to snag a spot as they became packed by noon. We ordered 6 dishes (only took pictures of 5 oops) and everything tasted good! Although nothing blew my mind, this food is made to satisfy comfort cravings and eating it alone made me really happy. My favourites are the pork knuckles lo mein, the chicken feet, and the truffle shrimp and pork roll. My cousins from out of town were eating with me and they agreed that everything was good and that this type of food is basically non-existent in Calgary (rip). I also love the variety and think this is a great place to satisfy Cantonese snack cravings. Our total for 6 dishes plus a drink came to about $95 before tip and we were all pretty full. I think the price is good considering the cost of food these days. Service was prompt and food came out very quickly. They take cash and debit only fyi! The parking lot also gets pretty crazy during peak hours so I recommend parking across the street at Lansdowne and walking over. I would love to return when I am craving these dishes! read more

We are visiting from Los Angeles and wanted to try the authentic Chinese food for which Vancouver is famous. This place did not disappoint! The service and ambience were good, but the food was AMAZING! Rivals any place you would find in Asia. read more
We came early on a Saturday and there was a little wait for table for two. I can see why it's so busy at Yin Ji Chang Fen in Richmond is a hidden gem for delicious and affordable Cantonese food. As we waited, they gave us menu, paper and pencil to order in advance of getting a table. Very organized. As soon as we were seated (we waited no longer than 5 minutes) our beverages were delivered. Soon the food order rolled out! The rice rolls are perfectly steamed and come with a variety of delicious fillings. The congee is smooth, flavourful, and perfect for a cozy meal. Now when are we going back???? Definitely soon! read more

Coming here hungry or just a late night snack, hits the spot everytime. Came on a Saturday at noon and the place is packed. If you are lucky to get a spot for parking ( the lot is small but it seems that cars are leaving quite frequently), there was only about a 15 minute wait for us this time. Ordering is simple and quick. The wait for our food was brief as well. The waitresses were organized and able to clear tables quick and direct waiting customers appropriately. read more

I love congee and cheng fun, so this was a must visit spot! I recommend going with a small group to get a variety or items. The restaurant is not too large, but I haven't had to wait long for a table. The chewy and soft cheng fun are a must, I personally like the beef as it is very tender. The chili oil on the side is delicious and a good accompaniment to each item. There are vegetarian items as well! A great bonus at any Chinese restaurant. read more

First time here. Crowded on a Saturday! Waited just 5 minutes and got our table. Of course, we ordered the chang fen rice noodle. We chose prawns to be safe but others look fantastic especially the truffles. Complemented with beef congee and donut. Great congee. Tiny bit on the watery side but the sliced beef was very good. Donut was a bit on the small side but it was not oily at all. I asked the server and she said they're fried to order. I think the best part was the service. Very polite and courteous to us both Cantonese and English speakers. read more
Small parking lot available for this one - parking is shared among several other restaurants - the is also street parking nearby - or you can walk from Lansdowne! Place has been very busy each time I dropped by - so be sure to give yourself enough time - in case you have to wait for a table. Service was very quick and efficient - they'll even give you menus to look at while you wait for a table - just to speed up the overall process. Don't recall if there was any music - however tables are somewhat close together - so there is the noise from the surrounding tables. Overall the menu was priced fairly - Congee was delicious - had the century egg and pork - double thumbs up was correct - don't forget to add a bit of pepper for an extra kick -personally found the lettuce garnish a little weird - would of preferred maybe green onion - Deep fried dough stick - was crisp and wasn't drenched in oil Rice roll - i didn't partake in - but the table said it was probably the best around town. Thai style boneless chicken feet was delicious - and the pickled vegetables were so good - however being $16+ , you'd expect a little more to it. - despite being tasty - I'd probably skip reordering this one. We ordered the shrimp and beef rice roll, preserved egg and pork congee, crispy Chinese donut, honey lemon with water, and hot soy milk--and every dish was fantastic. The rice rolls were delicate and made with high-quality rice paper, generously filled with shrimp and pork. The congee was flavorful, well-seasoned, and paired perfectly with the crispy Chinese donuts for a comforting combination. Even the drinks, like the honey lemon water and hot soy milk, were simple yet well-executed. The dishes are priced reasonably for the quality and portions, and there's a good amount of seating with friendly service. Just keep in mind that they only accept cash and debit (no tap-to-pay or credit cards), so come prepared. read more
The last time we were in CA we discovered this place in Toronto. This time we brought the kids along and they had to try it themselves. Once again, it didn't disappoint! The rice rolls were so good! The vegetables were fresh and the Chinese donuts were crispy. We would have ordered more but this was already a late dinner. Service was friendly and efficient. There is limited parking in the shopping center. Order on a notepad by number and the dishes gradually come out. The restaurant is well lit and clean. If you're a fan of congee also known as "jook" in Cantonese, this is the best place. Absolutely delicious, fresh, and nostalgic. Probably the best Chinese donut I have tried ever. We tried their shrimp rice rolls as well and it was really good. I really like their sauce that goes with it. It was perfect, not too salty and very flavorful. Get there early, cause this place is very popular and isn't very big. Plenty of private parking. And the ladies working there provided great service! read more
3.5 rounded up Anecdotally, scanning some of the reviews, it seems 30%-50% of reviews are from out of town. Destination dining? Seems like it, given the myriad of other options in Richmond, and there was a line up when we got here. Location wise, it's on the Richmond Eat Street Strip. Google it for you peeps from out of town. I was basically the tour guide/chauffer to the day, arguably every weekend, for the seniors. They need their Canto fixin's. They're lucking out too. While the actual rice rolls didn't have MSG, the sauces do. Yes, you read that correctly. There is MSG in the soy sauces. You can find this doing an online search, BUT the information is only in Chinese. You will not find it doing an English search. The web pages says: 银记布拉肠粉的做法, aka, Yin Ji Chang Fen recipe and method. Pretty sneaky. It's in Simplified Chinese so it seems like the real deal to me. That said, there is only a nominal amount which is good for me. Nominal amount in the congee too. It didn't make me too jittery. Clean modern interior, with tables a bit tight. Credit cards with a fee, cash, debit, Wechat pay, Alipay too, if I recall correctly. Free WIFI. Very Cantonese place. Unique Guangzhou style congee and rice rolls. A mix between Hong Kong and Guangzhou food culture. Service was decent, typical of Chinese places. It is a self order system where you write the number item you want. Location is near a train station and ambiance is fitting for a morning breakfast-bunch place. I'd avoid early morning since it's crowded but after 11am is ok. read more
