I've probably driven past this place hundreds of times before finally stopping in for lunch. Turns out, I should've done it years ago. Know Before You Go * Lunch specials start at $8.35 * Small private parking lot * Dine-in and carryout * Quiet during my weekday lunch visit * Friendly service * Single-story building with a ramp leading to the entrance I ordered the General Tso's lunch special ($8.35) and asked for the sauce on the side. If you're ordering one of the fried chicken dishes, I'd recommend doing the same. It keeps the breading crispy instead of steaming in the takeout container. The chicken was exactly how I like it: white meat, smaller bite-sized pieces, and lightly breaded. No playing hide-and-seek trying to find the chicken inside a softball-sized piece of breading. Every bite was hot, fresh, and actually tasted like chicken. Looking through the menu, I was pleasantly surprised by how many lunch specials are still under $10. That's getting harder and harder to find. If you've driven down Hudson, you already know the area. I can only speak from my experience, but I had no issues during my visit. The staff was friendly, I felt comfortable, and it ended up being a great place to land for an affordable lunch. The dining room feels like a neighborhood staple. It's clean, quiet, and comfortable--not trying to be trendy, just focused on serving good food. Would I spend my own money here again? Absolutely. I'll be ordering this meal again, and next time I'm branching out into more of the menu. I'd been driving past a solid lunch spot all these years without ever giving it a chance. I'm no expert on Chinese food, but everything we have had here tasted good and we have had good service from this family operated business. Location isn't near us and we don't go by it often. Tried it because friends knew about it. Small dining room on East Hudson, will stop in again on occasion, We had chicken dishes and the chicken was good, very tasty sauces. I've been going here since I was a child. It's the only Chinese food restaurant I'll eat at. It's a is small quaint place. We dine in. Top dishes here are the Chicken Wor Sue Gai, Pepper Steak, & Chicken Egg Fo Young, and egg rolls!! You cannot go wrong with any of these. Order #8 is a good deal if you're in the mood for egg fo young. Their Wor Sue Gai is the best I've ever had. I've seen it made with brown gravy, and other ways but this is the only place that's authentic. The chicken is perfectly crispy and the green onions add such good flavor to the dish. The pepper steak is so good... it's hard to just order one dish so we order our favs and share. All the dishes come with a side of rice. We ate the egg rolls so fast forgot to take a pic. Back in the day they used to give you hot tea with your meal but now you have to pay for (which is understandable). Prices are reasonable and the service is good. Will always be back. read more

Ordered Sweet and Sour chicken. Bit into a very sharp staple that was straight and very sharp. It was the worse pain ever blood poured out my mouth it went deep in my top gum between my teeth. My mouth bleed for over 15 minutes. Called that night felt they could have cared less. Went to store next day owner seemed like he did not care at all replace my meal with a small lunch meal. Had a meeting in the area and heard this place was good and a mom and pop chinese spot. I had great expectations but sadly this place fell very short. Im an avid american chinese food connoisseur and i always stay in the same lane (sweet and sour). First let me say the egg roll was good but nothing else had any taste. Fried rice had nothing in it and taste like air. Sweet and sour shrimp (old faithful) was tasteless, included no vegetables and the sauce taste like pancake syrup. The server came to the table and asked how everything was but she really did not want to know. I told her how i felt and she told me I shouldn't order sweet and sour. I know full well what sweet sour is supposed to taste like but I guess they we're more interested in me paying even though I did not eat the food. She then proceeded to bring me a box and tell me to give it to someone. I wouldn't give that food to anyone. Dont worry i will pay for what you cooked and I did not eat. Dropped in since I passed by several times this week and finally had a chance. It's pretty divey, inside and out, and small inside. But nicely decorated, with some actual paintings. Service was super friendly, and efficient. I got my standard comparison items, crab Rangoon and Mongolian beef. There was a lot of crab in the Rangoons, and they had obviously just been made. The usual sauces are on the table, plus two hot sauces (one sriracha.) The Mongolian beef was pretty standard, nothing exceptional; still darn good. I accidentally undertipped and am kicking myself; guess I'll have to make up for it next time. Prices were very reasonable. read more

Chinese restaurant located off Hudson in what some may call "the hood". It's been a round for a long time. My son and I came in around 5pm. No one was in the restaurant so we were seated quick. I typically judge restaurant based on their egg drop soup - their egg drop was horrible. We ordered the chicken wings. They come plain unless you ask for spicy in which they spice them up with onions and peppers. These were good and they were very large. We ordered chicken fried rice. My son didn't like the onions and the waitress noticed he wasn't eating and she was very nice to make him another bowl with no onions. I really like Yin Yue for what they are Americanized Chinese food. But so far everything that I've ordered from them has been tasty, the egg rolls are great, the wonton soup is also really good. They also make my favorite dish for me even though its not on the menu, BBQ Pork with Beansprouts, its light and filled with beansprouts. Sure this location is in the semi ghetto but its not that bad. Plus, everyone who works there is super nice, they remember you when you return and the food comes out fast. read more

I have been eating here since 1985. When Gerald and Sussie ran the restraint the food was some of the best in Columbus. Later his son Gary and his wife took over the business and the food was still awesome along with the staff being always friendly. You could count on a good friendly welcome and always asked about how life was in general. Today was the 1st time I had been able to stop in since 2019. The food was ok back then but today not good at all. I got the wor su gai and it was dry, way over cooked, tough, and super salty. The fried rice was bland. Not sure if I'll go back as I want to try to remember Yin Yue as it was not what it is today. read more

Yin Yue isn't gonna knock your socks off with presentation. And they're not trying to. This is mainly a pickup/to-go restaurant. Not flashy at all. The menu is fairly standard Chinese. Nothing is gonna "wow" you. With that said, they have the best egg rolls in Columbus. No matter if you order $5 or $200 worth of food, it's always ready in 10 minutes. That's pretty awesome. The egg rolls are to die for! They don't skimp on the filling. You can order the wor sue gai with gravy on the side. I was there for lunch and asked if the portion was smaller and I was told it was the same as dinner. Easily shareable as it was two large chicken breasts. If you're a regular they will get to know you by name. There is parking in the back and on the side of the restaurant. The paintings on the wall are by the father/father-in-law of the current owners who founded the restaurant with his wife. read more

What?!?! A Chinese restaurant a leisurely 4 minute bike ride from my new house?!?! I discovered this yesterday and would have gone immediately, but I had the sense to call ahead and learned that they are, unfortunately, closed on Sundays. So today I skipped breakfast and allowed myself to get really hungry for lunch. I rode down Ontario and enjoyed the scenery. Linden might be a high crime area, but strolling through the streets reminds me of suburbia in the '50s. Quaint little houses with neat yards, birds are always chirping, etc. I pulled into the parking lot and found a sign where I could lock my bike. The lot was surprisingly full. I walked in and quickly realized why - a party of at least ten, maybe fifteen were taking up three to four tables to the right. There were three booths to the left, near the entrance to the restrooms, and some more booths around the corner from the large party. I looked over the menu briefly...standard layout: appetizers, beef, chicken, seafood, vegetarian specials, plus pad thai and other specialties. I chose an order of the crab rangoon, a good gauge for quality comparisons because it's offered at all Chinese restaurants, and the home style bean curd, with a request for it to be made spicy. I took a seat at a booth around the corner and started playing around on my phone while I waited for my food (forgot my book, darn it). There were only six booths back here. That totals 9 booths plus the 4 or so tables where the party sat. Each table had it's own squeeze bottle of sweet'n'sour sauce, spicy mustard, sriracha, soy and another mysterious red sauce that had a sweet taste, but was on the spicy side. First my drink came out, then my crab rangoon. Now, the crab rangoon was really interesting. There was way less cream cheese used than most places, making the crab stand out more than any crab rangoon I can think of right off. I don't know if this is a more traditional way to prepare it, or just personal preference of the owners, but I really, really liked it. I expect the crab was still imitation, but the whole texture and flavor of the app was changed by the cream cheese ratio. Very good indeed. Just $2 and change for an order of 4. Not long after, out came my bean curd. It was served with two scoops of white rice and was piping hot. There were onions, broccoli, carrots and celery aplenty, and the bean curd was somewhat disheveled, rather than the perfect little shapes I'm used to elsewhere. I could be wrong, but it felt more homemade. The sauce gave me the same impression. It was thinner than expected, and more flavorful. I ate every last bite. The staff was very friendly and courteous. They seemed genuinely happy to serve their patrons. There were a couple of kids working, but I think they were just there to help out mom and dad. They seemed to be enjoying themselves. After all those glowing comments, you might be asking, "well, Luke, why the three stars?" While this doesn't deter me at all, the cleanliness of the place leaves a little to be desired. The carpet straight up needs replaced. It's filthy. Red with a permanent black walkway worn into it. Better yet, refinish the wood underneath so you can mop instead of vacuuming. That's the ticket. The ceiling has portions where the wall doesn't meet the ceiling and there is exposed insulation. the walls have these sort of unique, semi-badly drawn paintings adorning it. They too are in desperate need of a wipe down. I don't get the impression that the restaurant is unsanitary, but I think they might be skipping out on a few of those really thorough cleanings restaurants are supposed to do at least twice a year. I will definitely be back, and I was impressed enough that Yin Yue will probably become a regular option for me. I look forward to trying their pad thai and egg foo young. Hours are 11 to 10 most days, but I think they open later and close earlier on Saturday. read more

So I've been hounding my fiancé to take me here for years & today he finally pulled through & we got carryout. I went off one of the reviews/pic of the war sue gai & my fiancé got the happy family. We both got egg rolls & I wanted to at least try the wonton soup (also based off reviews). I must say that I was definitely impressed. Loved how everything came in those containers, as most Chinese places now put everything in plastic to go containers or styrofoam. My favorite was the egg roll for sure. The chicken was sliced & crispy, the gravy was good, but I have to say I have had better, but this was up there. I definitely want to return & I'd like to try lo mein. I'm visit from out of state, family recommended this restaurant for Chinese food. Upon arrival the place was dimly lit, with moderate seating for dining in. There were no patrons there when I walked in, just a man and woman working the front who came across as very rude, no one greeted me when I walked in and after the woman hung up the phone I said hello to which she ignored, then the man hung up the phone and acted like I'd offended him in some way and ask what I wanted, not "how can I help you" then when I said I was there to pick up a mobile order and gave him my name he reached behind the counter to hand me my food... neither of them were professional enough to say " Thanks, enjoy your evening or any kind of acknowledgment." The food was decent, and I would've have come back to them for second chance, but given their lack of appreciation, they will not get another cent of my money. read more

A friend told me about this restaurant and how it's been in that neighborhood for decades. I had to check it out. The neighborhood and restaurant seems a tad sketchy, but we wanted to have the full experience so we ate there. The parking lot was packed! There were quite a few people picking up carryout and the tables were mostly full. My friend ordered the general tso's and I had curry chicken and we both got a spring roll. The menu stated the curry chicken was made with potatoes. That was a new one for me so I had to try it. It was good, but I had to laugh when I saw the potatoes are actually crinkle cut french fries. Oh well, they didn't lie. Those are potatoes. I tasted my friend's dinner and was not impressed. He really wasn't either. It wasn't terrible, but not really very good. The good news was that they gave me so much of mine that we shared it. Overall I'd say it's worth trying, especially at lunch. The inside was a tad dirty so I went with 3 instead of 4 stars, but it may have just been the lunch rush. read more

I stumbled on this place on my drive down Hudson Street. It had an interesting look about it and the parking lot was jammed packed. The lunch menu had such items as chop suey so I knew I'd come to a restaurant that had been around awhile. I was going to order ala carte but the luncheon specials were too good to pass up. My dear friend and coworker grew up down the street from Yin Yue and has been preaching the virtues of it for the past year or so. We finally found some time to go there for lunch. It doesn't look much from the outside. It's this little yellow place right on Hudson. Don't let deter you. This inside is clean and kitschy, with hand painted scenes of boats and cranes. It's very, very small, with only five or six booths. The staff was super duper friendly and the service really fast. Even though it was the middle of the week for lunch, almost every booth was taken and there was a steady stream of takeout orders. I got an egg roll (only $1.30!!!!!!) and it was GREAT. I am super picky about egg rolls, having been let down by stale, empty ones that often populate Chinese buffets. This one was big, fat and piping hot. Just like I like 'em ;) I also ordered the lunch portion of orange chicken. The portion was so good I had leftovers! I was pleased with the flavor. It wasn't sticky or overly sugary. I could tell they made the sauce themselves, not just dumped from a bottle. The menu isn't just American Chinese favorites, either. There's some more traditional dishes on there I never heard of that I'm sure some of the more adventurous would like. So go here! I crave Yin Yue's egg rolls and my husband the Wor Su Gai. I loved that Wayne, who is no longer there, always remembered my name. Maybe I caught them on a bad day but I stopped in one afternoon and grabbed an order of General Tso's Chicken and a Shrimp Fried Rice. I wasn't able to finish eating either of them. The General Tso's was eaten less than 10 minutes after they packed up my order but it was so soggy and oversauced that it lacked any semblance of having been crispy and fried. Not only that but the sauce was watery and bland. As for the fried rice, I didn't expect big cocktail shrimp but I also wasn't expecting those tiny pink salad shrimp that come in a can. It seemed like they hadn't been rinsed and so the entire dish just had this gross, canned-seafood-water taste that bordered on straight up dirty dish water. It made it really difficult to eat more than a few bites. I'm not one to throw out food and I've had plenty of mediocre General Tso's and Fried Rice before but this was a new low. read more

It's white rice with soy sauce on it. Lo mein was poorly prepared - raw and over cooked. Basically we enjoyed the veggie roll (yes, one split between two adults and two children). This is by far the best Chinese food in Columbus. I've tried several other places and none compare to this for taste portion size and price. I ordered chicken egg foo young. It was hard, had a bad burnt taste, the hot mustard -charged extra, was crusty in the small container and was clearly watered down. The rice was very small and also had a burnt taste. Terrible!! Hard, burnt chicken?? Watered down mustard and the gravy was not good at all. I dont comment much but this meal was horrible. read more
